I have decided to write a few posts demonstrating the various techniques I used with JQuery to achieve the desired functionality. ?here are other posts in my blog regarding JQuery.You can find them all here.I have received some comments from visitors of this blog that are "complaining" about the length of the blog posts. I will not write lengthy posts anymore...I mean I will try not to do so..We will demonstrate this with a step by step example. I will use Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate. You can also use Visual Studio 2012 Express Edition. You can also use VS 2010 editions. 1) Launch Visual Studio. Create an ASP.Net Empty Web application. Choose an appropriate name for your application.2) Add a web form, default.aspx page to the application.3) Add a table from the HTML controls tab control (from the Toolbox) on the default.aspx page4) Now we need to download the JQuery library. Please visit the http://jquery.com/ and download the minified version.5) We will add a stylesheet to the application (Style.css)5) Obviously at some point we need to reference the JQuery library and the external stylesheet.     I don't mean the flash player here, I'm talking about the flash program that i can make animations with. Like Adoble Flash CS (formerly known as Macromedia flash). Is there a program on linux that i can make animations? I want to make a movie like animator vs animation. I used easy gif animator on windows lol it was a bit harder than flash but i'm on linux and I'd like to know what it has to offer. Worse case scenario, what gif animators are there on linux. :) Thanks!

But from the websites of colleges that offer such degrees, I feel like its more about basic programming with examples from games. This college offers game design degrees, for example. I am aware of the logic problems with all of these items, Ie. if one person deletes something, do you persist this change to other users, collisions, etc. I am looking for just any book or scholarly work, or even words of wisdom to address common issues. when to detect changes of data with hashes, vs modified dates, or combination. how do address consolidation of sequential ID's originating on different client nodes (can be sidestepped in my context, but it would be interesting.) dealing with collisions (is there a universally safe way to do so?). general best practices. how to structure the actual data transaction (ask for whole list then detect changes...)

  • Exporting XNA class library as a DLL file

    I have downloaded an open source project that I intend to use with my current game. The download came with all the class files from the original project as well as a pre-compiled DLL file representing the project. I was able to easily link this DLL with my current project and get it working just fine, no problems there. The problem I now have is that I want to make a couple of changes to the original libraries (extend its functionality a bit to better suit my needs) and re-export the class library as a DLL again, but I have no clue how to do this. Is there some simple way in VS where I can just take the class library and export/compile it as a DLL file again or is there more to it than that? This seems like something that should be pretty simple but my efforts to find an answer have so far come up with nothing. Thanks in advance.

    We have recently moved to a scrum process and are working on tasks and user stories inside of sprints. We would like to do code reviews frequently to make them less daunting. We are thinking that doing them on a user story level but are unsure how to branch our code to account for this. We are using VS and TFS 2010 and we are a team of 6. We currently branch for features but are working on changing to branching for scrum. We do not currently use shelvesets and don't really want to implement if there are other techniques available. How do you recommend we implement code review per user story?

  • IIS Not Accepting Login Credentials

    I have an ASP.NET web form using Microsoft's boilerplate Active Directory login page, set up exactly as suggested. (See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms180890%28v=vs.80%29.aspx) Windows Authentication is activated on the "Default Website" and "MyWebsite" levels, and Domain\This.User is given "Allow" access to the site. After entering the valid credentials for This.User on the web form, a popup window appears asking me to enter my credentials yet again. Despite entering valid credentials for This.User (after attempting Domain\This.User and This.User formats), it rejects the credentials and returns an unauthorized user page. Active Directory user This.User is valid, the IP address of the AD server has been verified and SPN's have been set up for the server. Any thoughts as to what may be causing this? I can post code if needed.

  • XNA: Auto-populate content within the content project based on current folder/file structure and content management for large games

    1) Is it possible to implement a system where I can simply drop a new image into my content project's folder and VS will automatically see that and bring it into the project for compiling? 2) Similarly, if I wanted a specific texture I could state something like var texture = Game.Assets.Image["backgrounds/sky_02"]; (where Game is the standard XNA Game class and Assets is some kind of content manager statically defined within Game). I know this is fairly simple to implement manually and have done such things in the past (static Dictionary defined within Game) except this only works for relatively small games where you can have all assets loaded at the start without much issue. How would you go about making this work for games where content is loaded and unloaded based on level / area? I'm not asking for the solution, just how you would go about this and what things you would have to be aware of. Thanks.

    So I was reading from a previous thread about App vs Game Development Here Which brought me to this site: Clicky Alot of it talked about devs working something like 85 hours a week.....and not getting paid overtime, or anything. Just getting paid for the 40 hours.....Is this normal for most software companies? I mean where I work im only an entry level guy....but I get overtime, and Anything over 40 hours is considered this. But it got me thinking "Holy crap" I could never do that. My FREE time is important to me. But is this commonplace in most software companies? or...more a rarity to certain types (game development, etc) Cause it got me scared! Like I understand having to put some extra hours in for a project......but like 80! thats ridiculous.

  • Translating an Object to a certain Vector 3 in OpenGL and Java LWJGL

    So after almost two hours, I got the hang of using glTranslated() (with Java and LWJGL). If I am correct, applying glTranslated on an object moves that object with the x,y,z relative to the previously moved object. I believe the correct term for this is local vs global, global being the one I want. I was wondering if there was a way to translate an object to a specific XYZ position, or relative to the origin. Thanks! (Code or other details can be supplied if it helps, just let me know. Also sorry if this is a noob comment, Im very new to OpenGL.)

  • Should programming languages be strict or loose?

    In Python and JavaScript, semi-colons are optional. In PHP, quotes around array-keys are optional ($_GET[key] vs $_GET['key']), although if you omit them it will first look for a constant by that name. It also allows 2 different styles for blocks (colon, or brace delimited). I'm creating a programming language now, and I'm trying to decide how strict I should make it. There are a lot of cases where extra characters aren't really necessary and can be unambiguously interpreted due to priorities, but I'm wondering if I should still enforce them or not to encourage good programming habits. What do you think?
