    I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard and "git pull" returns: rakudo $ git pull git: 'pull' is not a git-command. See 'git --help' Did you mean this? shell rakudo $ git-pull -bash: git-pull: command not found I've tried reinstalling via macports, but to no avail. Then I saw this rakudo $ git --exec-path /Users/ovid/libexec/git-core That surprised me as that directory does not exist, nor has it ever existed. Google is not helping here. Hopefully you can :)

  • How can I find images to represent user text?

    On our web site, users enter free form text like "Ribeye steak at Safeway for $8.99. Great deal in Palo Alto." Does anyone know of APIs that can take free form text and return an image that best represents the text? Right now, we're feeding the whole text to Google Image Search, but sometimes the extraneous words (e.g., at, for, $8.99) skew the query and induce weird results.

  • String formatting named parameters?

    I know it's a really simple question, but I have no idea how to google it. how can I do print '<a href="%s">%s</a>' % (my_url) So that my_url is used twice? I assume I have to "name" the %s and then use a dict in the params, but I'm not sure of the proper syntax? just FYI, I'm aware I can just use my_url twice in the params, but that's not the point :)

    Hi, Could someone tell me how to get the parent directory of a path in Python in a cross platform way. E.g. C:\Program Files --- C:\ and C:\ --- C:\ If the directory doesn't have a parent directory, it returns the directory itself. The question might seem simple but I couldn't dig it up through Google.     We have a javascript funtion named "move" which does just "windows.location.href = any given anchor". This function works on IE, Opera and Safari, but somehow is ignored in Firefox. Researching on Google doesn't produce a satisfactory answer why it doesn't work. Does any javascript guru knows about this behavior, and what would be the best practice to jump to an anchor via javascript?

    Are there any robust and mature HTML parsers available for PHP? A quick skimming of PEAR didn't turn anything up (lots of classes for generating HTML, not so much for consuming), and Google taught me a lot of people have started and then abandoned a variety of parser projects. Not interested in XML parsers (unless then can consume non-well formed HTML) or hacking it on my own with regular expressions. Clarification of Intent: I'm not interested in filtering of HTML content, I'm interesting in extracting information from HTML documents.

It can be a lose approximation, in fact I would go with anything that has a : colon separator with a port after it.

    I've been looking around for a decent jQuery plugin that can handle both dates and times. The core UI DatePicker is great, but unfortunately I need to be able to take time in as well. I've found a few hacks for the DatePicker to work with times, but they all seem pretty inelegant and google isn't turning up anything nice.
