  • Traverse list to add elements using .NET

    I have a list of objects. Each object has an integer quantity and a DateTime variable which contains a month and year value. I'd like to traverse the list and pad the list by adding missing months (with quantity 0) so that all consecutive months are represented in the list. What would be the best way to accomplish this?     All the examples for donut caching I've seen are just like this : <%= Html.Substitute( c => DateTime.Now.ToString() )%> Thats fine if I just want the date, but what other options are there? I know there is a delegate 'MvcSubstitutionCallback' which has the following signature : public delegate string MvcSubstitutionCallback(HttpContextBase httpContext); but RenderAction and RenderPartial returns void so i cant just return them from the delegate method. How can I effectively use this callback for more complex situations. I've looked at both of Phil Haacked's articles here and here, but neither seems to do exactly what I want.

I am trying to use django.contrib.comments, I saw the table in the database like this, but how can I integrate it with user_id, user_photos, user_name, user_email....and those things with the django commenting system? I also tried to use thread-comments, but I can't configure it properly, is the django threadedcomments table similar to following ? Please let me know if any of you have done this before....all I need is a user login, and post comments, and then show list of comments with users' profile photos and username, as well as there comments. I think shouldn't be that hard.   • Index on column with only 2 distinct values

    I am wondering about the performance of this index: I have an "Invalid" varchar(1) column that has 2 values: NULL or 'Y' I have an index on (invalid), as well as (invalid, last_validated) Last_validated is a datetime (this is used for a unrelated SELECT query) I am flagging a small amount of items (1-5%) of rows in the table with this as 'to be deleted'. This is so when i DELETE FROM items WHERE invalid='Y' it does not perform a full table scan for the invalid items. A problem seems to be, the actual DELETE is quite slow now, possibly because all the indexes are being removed as they are deleted. Would a bitmap index provide better performance for this? or perhaps no index at all?

    Hi, Here's my problem: I have 2 identical tables (past month data, current month data) - data_2010_03, data_2010_04: Content_type (VARCHAR), content_id (INT), month_count (INT), pubDate (DATETIME) Data in month_count is updated hourly, so for each combination of content_type and content_id we insert new row, where value of month_count is incrementally updated.     Hi guys, I recently bought some webspace with dailyrazor.com. I have deployed an application I have been working on to the server and am currently trying to workout the bugs but I can't seem to solve this one. I have set up my database in Visual Studio to use the one I have create with dailyrazor the same db the deployed version will use. I am using British Dates and on my localhost datetime is displayed: 27/05/2010 09:00 However on the dailyrazor host it is displayed: 5/27/2010 9:00 AM Short Dates e.g. 27/04/2010 display the same on both servers. This is causing some issues when entering data as errors occur on date fields. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jon

That is, the cookie is still on the client's PC tomorrow, even if the browser and the PC has been closed in between. After a week, the cookie will be deleted (due to line #2). Non-persistent/in-memory cookies are another bread of cookies, which have a lifespan determined by the duration of the client's browsing session. Usually, such cookies are held in memory, and they are discarded when the browser is closed. How do I assign an in-memory cookie from ASP.NET?

  • jsonp cross domain only working in IE

    EDIT: At first I thought it wasn't working cross domain at all, now I realize it only works in IE I'm using jQuery to call a web service (ASP.NET .axmx), and trying to us jsonp so that I can call it across different sites. Right now it is working ONLY in IE, but not in Firefox, Chrome, Safari. Also, in IE, a dialog pops up warning "This page is accessing information that is not under its control..." Any ideas?     Hello, I have designed a trading application that handles customers stocks investment portfolio. I am using two datastore kinds: Stocks - Contains unique stock name and its daily percent change. UserTransactions - Contains information regarding a specific purchase of a stock made by a user : the value of the purchase along with a reference to Stock for the current purchase. db.Model python modules: class Stocks (db.Model): stockname = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) dailyPercentChange=db.FloatProperty(default=1.0) class UserTransactions (db.Model): buyer = db.UserProperty() value=db.FloatProperty() stockref = db.ReferenceProperty(Stocks) Once an hour I need to update the database: update the daily percent change in Stocks and then update the value of all entities in UserTransactions that refer to that stock. In the dashboard, I see that the task.py takes around 65% of the CPU (Stock.py takes around 20%-30%) and I am using almost all of the 6.5 free CPU hours given to me by app engine. I have no problem to enable billing and pay for additional CPU, but the problem is the scaling of the system… Using 6.5 CPU hours for 100 stocks is very poor. I was wondering, given the requirements of the system as mentioned above, if there is a better and more efficient implementation (or just a small change that can help with the current implemntation) than the one presented here.   • How to control order of assignment for new identity column in mssql ?

    I have a table with CreateDate datetime field default(getdate()) that does not have any identity column. I would like to add identity(1,1) field that would reflect same order of existing records as CreateDate field (order by would give same results). How can I do that ? I guess if I create clustered key on CreateDate field and then add identity column it will work (not sure if it's guaranteed), is there a good/better way ? I am interested in sql 2005, but I guess the answer will be the same for sql 2008, sql 2000.

  • Can this MySQL subquery be optimised?

    I have two tables, news and news_views. Every time an article is viewed, the news id, IP address and date is recorded in news_views. I'm using a query with a subquery to fetch the most viewed titles from news, by getting the total count of views in the last 24 hours for each one. It works fine except that it takes between 5-10 seconds to run, presumably because there's hundreds of thousands of rows in news_views and it has to go through the entire table before it can finish. The query is as follows, is there any way at all it can be improved?
