  • Setup mutt to read through a threaded message and then return to the email index

    I have begun using mutt (terminal email client) recently and I have it setup very nicely and easy to use. My only gripe is that sometimes it is difficult to tell when I transition from one thread to the next. Is it possible to setup the bindings such that moving to the next-undeleted message would check if the next-undeleted message is in the same thread, and if that check is false it returns to the index or throws an error? For example, I currently have bind pager <down> next-undeleted bind pager } next-subthread Is there a more advanced function call that could perform this check? I haven't been able to find much on how to perform more complex function calls with such checks while checking out the manual. Any help would be appreciated.

    I have a file explorer shell extension called "Copy File Path" or "Copy Folder Path", depending on which pane I am in in file explorer, which copies the full path of a file or a folder to the clipboard. Because it's very handy for me, I use it many times during the day. To make it more productive, I would like to assign a function key to it instead of using the right mouse click context menu, looking for it in the menu (big menu because of many extensions) and selecting it. The way I want to use it is select the file with the mouse and hit the function key. Is there a utility or tool, tray taskmaybe, which can add this functionality to Windows?

    Hi! Once upon a time, my pc suite had a function to prepare ringtones and upload them to the E65. Now I find myself with the all-new Nokia PC Suite 7.1 and I cannot find anything which resembles that function. I used to select a midi file, add some options, listen to a preview, and then upload it. It would appear among the ringing tones when customizing profiles. I tried this "Nokia Music" which is linked from the PC Suite, but it won't recognize the headset. What can I do?

  • Best CMS to handle short snippets of text?

    I have to install a CMS to manage a set of mathematical problems, i.e., our main content will be short (~3 lines) snippets of text. We need the ability to add comments and categories/tags, possibly with a powerful search function combining different constraints on the categories. A crucial ability is the possibility to combine the results of a search in the same page to produce a (printable) problem sheet: not many CMS's seem to be able to do so, and it is difficult for me to test every one for this specific function. Do you guys know of a CMS that is capable to return formatted search result in this fashion? Thanks in advance!

  • A PDF viewer for large margins in fullscreen

    I am looking for a way to pleasantly read PDF files on my widescreen (22" 1680x1050) monitor. My problem with all pdf the PDF-viewer applications I have tried is that they do not handle wide and high margins well. If I go to fullscreen mode in my viewer and zoom in so that the extra margins are cropped, I can view the pages nicely, the annoyance however is that I have to reposition the pages every time I navigate to another page. I am sure there must be a way to make a PDF viewer that can solve this problem and perhaps there is one you know of? I am aware of something called PDF Reflow in Acrobat Reader but that only works with certain specific (tagged) files. I want a PDF viewer with a smarter zoom/next page function or an automatic margin-crop function. Is there such a thing?

  • Converting date format in formulas in Excel

    I have a column of dates in the following format ddd mmm dd hh m:s "EST" yyyy. In another cell in another sheet, I wish to have the dates in the format dd/m/y. How can I do this? I already tried the DATEVALUE function. Seeing as the positions are fixed, I started using the RIGHT and MID functions to extract components to put into the DATE function. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way of converting the three letter string to a month without writing a huge if block. UPDATE: I managed to convert the string using MONTH(1&THREE_LETTER_DATE). I am still curious if there is a better solution though

    Just now installed whm/cpanel, created some accounts, created mail account in one of them and entered squirrelmail to check the mail.   • Got a malware on my hosting provider which infect JavaScript files .. how do I find the entry point?

I've found out that a line of packed javascript was added to many js files across the server. What the script does is pretty simple, but what I would like to know is if this malware is well known and how it infect servers and propagate.   • How to get same cookie to control two different folders on same site.

    I am using the below cookie javascript to run a background color changer on my site. I want to also use it for the background color of my forum which is in a separate folder (http://lightbulbchoice.com/forum). I currently have it working on both the site and forum but you have to set each separately, i.e., each is setting it's own cookie.   • Monitor sleep in Windows XP does not work. Is there an add on to force it?

    I have an EEE box with XP Home and a DVI connected TFT, and it does not sleep the monitor. It only starts working after I go to the energy control panel and turn it off and on again. Then the timed sleep works for the current session of computer use. After a shut down and boot next day, sleep does not work again (it is still set in the preferences however). What can hold the sleep function from working? Are there issues with Skype or MSN? Is there a utility to be less critic to processes interrupting sleep and offer a more reliable monitor sleep function for XP?

    By default, the function keys on my MacBook Pro control various hardware features and native operating system applications like the brightness of the LCD, Expose, or iTunes. I like these buttons and can use the fn button to take advantage of application Function keys when working with certain applications. Some service-type, background applications also have useful keyboard shortcuts. I tend to forget which keys are active at the moment and sometimes launch the wrong processes. Is there an application or operating system, native way of identifying all of the currently available keyboard shortcuts?

  • Mac won't boot into safe mode

    Mac boots fine normally, except when in safe mode. Holding down shift when booting gets me to the progress bar on the grey screen. Progress bar gets about half way before mac reboots. I modified nvram boot-args to get a better look: sudo nvram boot-args="-x -v" It definitely gets through fsck, skips loading kernel extensions (since it's in safe mode), does something with the network interfaces, then this is the last thing it wips through...     I have Ubuntu Lucid installed on a Panasonic Toughbook CF-29. Most things work well, but, under Gnome, suspend and hibernate do not work. Interesting, in Xubuntu, hibernate does work. So my question is twofold: How do I troubleshoot the hibernate function in Gnome desktop (since I know the laptop can hibernate in Ubuntu), and How to go about troubleshooting the suspend function? I got as far as looking at the /var/log/pm-suspend.log, but that just tells me the things that ran successfully... I'm kind of stuck there.

    I have setup Postfix as part of my ISPConfig implementation. It should just forward all mail. Clients should be able to define a new alias and receive mail on a different e-mail address, using ISPConfig. Example: A mail sent to [email protected] on my ISPConfig server should be forwarded to external mailbox [email protected] This works fine but one important thing. When opening the mailbox for [email protected] I see the mail with the original sender name, and the original recipient name, i.e. [email protected] I have tried the forward function and the send copy function on a mailbox in ISPConfig. Both cases show the original recipient [email protected] instead of the final recipient [email protected], as it would when I manually forward an e-mail. Can this be achieved without having to maintain a list for each entry? Thanks for looking into this. M.

    I've recently begun using Notepad++, and have found a part of its styling functionality that confuses me. I'm currently attempting to color all of PHP's defined functions (such as count(), strlen(), etc.). In the Settings-Style Configurator, you cannot add a new style for such a function list. Instead, I have begun editing the stylers.xml and langs.xml. I can change the style's color, and can see the entire keyword list under 'Default Keywords'. However, it is not changing the coloring of the words in my code. When I edit the WORD style, which contains stuff like 'if', 'and', and 'true', things change accordingly in my code. Any ideas on how to make this work?

  • How to generate the right password format for Apache2 authentication in use with DBD and MySQL 5.1?

    I want to authenticate users for a folder from a MySQL 5.1 database with AuthType Basic. The passwords are stored in plain text (they are not really passwords, so doesn't matter). The password format for apache however only allows for SHA1, MD5 on Linux systems as described here. How could I generate the right format with an SQL query ? Seems like apache format is a binary format with a lenght of 20, but the mysql SHA1 function return 40 long. My SQL query is something like this: SELECT CONCAT('{SHA}', BASE64_ENCODE(SHA1(access_key))) FROM user_access_keys INNER JOIN users ON user_access_keys.user_id = users.id WHERE name = %s where base64_encode is a stored function (Mysql 5.1 doesn't have TO_BASE64 yet). This query returns a 61 byte BLOB which is not the same format that apache uses. How could I generate the same format ? You can suggest other method for this too. The point is that I want to authenticate users from a MySQL5.1 database using plain text as password.

Any suggestions as to what's going wrong?

However, as you can imagine this is a security nightmare if it were to be made public - so I was thinking of two options to protect my stack: 1) A CHROOT jail - but this in itself wouldn't be enough to prevent directory traversal / file access. 2) AppArmor ? So my question is really, how could I protect my stack from any nasties that could come from: A) Compiling unknown code using gcc B) Executing the compiled code

    I have a function that creates a Pivot Table, but I am getting an error when I try to set a range that will be merged and have a title added to it. In the below code, pivot_title_range is a 'String' variable, and is optional when calling the funtion. title_range is a 'Range' variable. Both lines that set the range (whether or not the users declares pivot_title_range) cause the same error.   • Monitor sleep in Windows XP does not work. Is there an add on to force it?

    I have an EEE box with XP Home and a DVI connected TFT, and it does not sleep the monitor. It only starts working after I go to the energy control panel and turn it off and on again. Then the timed sleep works for the current session of computer use. After a shut down and boot next day, sleep does not work again (it is still set in the preferences however). What can hold the sleep function from working? Are there issues with Skype or MSN? Is there a utility to be less critic to processes interrupting sleep and offer a more reliable monitor sleep function for XP?
