• How to convert TM-2 degree coordinate to lat lon on Android?

  I am writing a program that convert TM-2 degree to lat/lon on Android, but I can't find formula for that. I do find some example on internet, but most of them are convert with open source library, that I can't use on Android platform. I also find a java class that do convert from UTM to lat lon, but it seems no suitable for TM 2 degreen coordinate system. So my question is: how do I convert TM 2 degree coordinate to lat/lon? Where can I find formula?

• How can I get the GUID from a PDB file?

  Hello, Does anyone know how to get the GUID from a PDB file? I'm using Microsoft's Debug Interface Access SDK http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/f0756hat.aspx and getting E_PDB_INVALID_SIG when passing in the GUID i expect when trying to load the PDB. I'd just like to know the GUID of the PDB so I can be certain that it's mismatching and not just a PDB that's perhaps corrupted somehow. Is there a tool that can do this? I've tried dia2dump and dumpbin, but with no joy... Many thanks, thoughton.

  Hello World, I have an assignment and i got a library including an interface class. [InfoItem] I implement this class [Item]. Now i am required to write a method watchProgram(InfoItem item) [other class, importing InfoItem], which (as shown) requires an InfoItem. The passed parameter item has a variable 'Recorded' [boolean] which i want to edit using a method changeRecorded() that i defined in the implementation of InfoItem. I cannot edit the interface and i get an error message that the method is not found [cannot find symbol].. Any hints, suggestions, solutions? Thanks!! -Samuel-

• Easiest way of unit testing C code with Python

  I've got a pile of C code that I'd like to unit test using Python's unittest library (in Windows), but I'm trying to work out the best way of interfacing the C code so that Python can execute it (and get the results back). Does anybody have any experience in the easiest way to do it? Some ideas include: Wrapping the code as a Python C extension using the Python API Wrap the C code using SWIG Add a DLL wrapper to the C code and load it into Python using ctypes Add a small XML-RPC server to the c-code and call it using xmlrpclib (yes, I know this seems a bit far-out!) Is there a canonical way of doing this? I'm going to be doing this quite a lot, with different C modules, so I'd like to find a way which is least effort.

  I'm using the mock-0.6 library from http://www.voidspace.org.uk/python/mock/mock.html to mock out a framework for testing, and I want to have a mock method return a series of values, each time it's called. Right now, this is what I figured should work: def returnList(items): def sideEffect(*args, **kwargs): for item in items: yield item yield mock.DEFAULT return sideEffect mock = Mock(side_effect=returnList(aListOfValues)) values = mock() log.info("Got %s", values) And the log output is this: subsys: INFO: Got <generator object func at 0x1021db500> So, the side effect is returning the generator, not the next value, which seems wrong. Where am I getting this wrong?

• How to extract frequency information from samples from PortAudio using FFTW in C

  Hi all, I want to make a program that would record audio data using PortAudio (I have this part done) and then display the frequency information of that recorded audio (for now, I'd like to display the average frequency of each of the group of samples as they come in). From some research I've done, I know that I need to do an FFT. So I googled for a library to do that, in C, and found FFTW. However, now I am a little lost. What exactly am I supposed to do with the samples I recorded to extract some frequency information from them? What kind of FFT should I use (I assume I'd need a real data 1D?)? And once I'd do the FFT, how do I get the frequency information from the data it gives me? Thanks a lot in advance.

  I've read several articles that tell you how to add text to the output window in visual studio from within an Add-On (specifically, a visual studio 2008 integration package, via the visual studio 2008 SDK 1.1), but no examples of how to read text from the output window. My goal is to parse text from the debug output window while debugging a certain application (TRACE output and possibly stdin/stdout). The IVsOutputWindowPane interface has no methods for reading in text from the output window. The documentation seems to imply that it is possible, but it doesn't provide an example: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb166236(VS.80).aspx Quote: In addition, the OutputWindow and OutputWindowPane objects add some higher-level functionality to make it easier to enumerate the Output window panes and to retrieve text from the panes. It basically involves getting the data from everyone and sending it to everyone, this can be done by ajax and what not but I wonder if there is something already there in the wild that would do the heavy lifting for me. I have to say that I got very lost once I start programming Ajax, dont even know how to make tests for it... I have found the Q42multiplayer library that looks like what I want but they use C# as backend. There is something similar or any other multiplayer thingy I can get some idea or rip some code from (the whole thing will be opensource) for Ruby on Rails?

• Android and Protocol Buffers

  I am writing an Android application that would both store data and communicate with a server using protocol buffers. However, the stock implementation of protocol buffers compiled with the LITE flag (in both the JAR library and the generated .java files) has an overhead of ~30 KB, where the program itself is only ~30 KB. In other words, protocol buffers doubled the program size. Searching online, I found a reference to an Android specific implementation. Unfortunately, there seems to be no documentation for it, and the code generated from the standard .proto file is incompatible with it. Has anyone used it? How do I generate code from a .proto file for this implementation? Are there any other lightweight alternatives?

Questions (bear with me if my question is wrong) 1) Is it possible to use Visual Studio (2008 with SP1) to debug the remote application (i.e already in production)?.What are the tools do i need to use in order to keep track the things in case something went wrong? 2) Simply looking into Log file ,will solve the issues? 3) After having done with enhancements,is it possible to directly deploy the DLLs into production server.Won't it affect the running application?   I've implemented a Listenable/Listener trait that can be added to Actors. I'm wondering if it's possible to attach this style of trait to an actor without it having to explicitly call the listenerHandler method? Also I was expecting to find this functionality in the Akka library. Now i want to do Pinch Zooming on that, means when i m doing pinch zooming that that part where i have pinched will be zoomed,other part will also be zoomed but we can see certain par of the graph at one time so wherever i have pinched that part will be shown in zoomed state in focused view and when i am doing scrolling i can see other part also in a zoom state. • Memory Efficient Windows SOA Server

  Installing a Memory Efficient SOA Suite 11.1.1.6 on Windows Server Well 11.1.1.6 is now available for download so I thought I would build a Windows Server environment to run it.  I will minimize the memory footprint of the installation by putting all functionality into the Admin Server of the SOA Suite domain. Required Software 64-bit JDK SOA Suite If you want 64-bit then choose “Generic” rather than “Microsoft Windows 32bit JVM” or “Linux 32bit JVM” This has links to all the required software. If you choose “Generic” then the Repository Creation Utility link does not show, you still need this so change the platform to “Microsoft Windows 32bit JVM” or “Linux 32bit JVM” to get the software. Similarly if you need a database then you need to change the platform to get the link to XE for Windows or Linux. If possible I recommend installing a 64-bit JDK as this allows you to assign more memory to individual JVMs. Windows XE will work, but it is better if you can use a full Oracle database because of the limitations on XE that sometimes cause it to run out of space with large or multiple SOA deployments. Installation Steps The following flow chart outlines the steps required in installing and configuring SOA Suite. The steps in the diagram are explained below. 64-bit? Is a 64-bit installation required?  The Windows & Linux installers will install 32-bit versions of the Sun JDK and JRockit.  A separate JDK must be installed for 64-bit. Install 64-bit JDK The 64-bit JDK can be either Hotspot or JRockit.  You can choose either JDK 1.7 or 1.6. Install WebLogic If you are using 64-bit then install WebLogic using “java –jar wls1036_generic.jar”.  Make sure you include Coherence in the installation, the easiest way to do this is to accept the “Typical” installation. SOA Suite Required? If you are not installing SOA Suite then you can jump straight ahead and create a WebLogic domain. Install SOA Suite Run the SOA Suite installer and point it at the existing Middleware Home created for WebLogic.  Note to run the SOA installer on Windows the user must have admin privileges.  I also found that on Windows Server 2008R2 I had to start the installer from a command prompt with administrative privileges, granting it privileges when it ran caused it to ignore the jreLoc parameter. Database Available? Do you have access to a database into which you can install the SOA schema.  SOA Suite requires access to an Oracle database (it is supported on other databases but I would always use an oracle database). Install Database I use an 11gR2 Oracle database to avoid XE limitations.  Make sure that you set the database character set to be unicode (AL32UTF8).  I also disabled the new security settings because they get in the way for a developer database.  Don’t forget to check that number of processes is at least 150 and number of sessions is not set, or is set to at least 200 (in the DB init parameters). Run RCU The SOA Suite database schemas are created by running the Repository Creation Utility.  Install the “SOA and BPM Infrastructure” component to support SOA Suite.  If you keep the schema prefix as “DEV” then the config wizard is easier to complete. Run Config Wizard The Config wizard creates the domain which hosts the WebLogic server instances.  To get a minimum footprint SOA installation choose the “Oracle Enterprise Manager” and “Oracle SOA Suite for developers” products.  All other required products will be automatically selected. The “for developers” installs target the appropriate components at the AdminServer rather than creating a separate managed server to house them.  This reduces the number of JVMs required to run the system and hence the amount of memory required.  This is not suitable for anything other than a developer environment as it mixes the admin and runtime functions together in a single server.  It also takes a long time to load all the required modules, making start up a slow process. If it exists I would recommend running the config wizard found in the “oracle_common/common/bin” directory under the middleware home.  This should have access to all the templates, including SOA. If you also want to run BAM in the same JVM as everything else then you need to “Select Optional Configuration” for “Managed Servers, Clusters and Machines”. To target BAM at the AdminServer delete the “bam_server1” managed server that is created by default.  This will result in BAM being targeted at the AdminServer. Installation Issues I had a few problems when I came to test everything in my mega-JVM. Following applications were not targeted and so I needed to target them at the AdminServer: b2bui composer Healthcare UI FMW Welcome Page Application (11.1.0.0.0) How Memory Efficient is It? On a Windows 2008R2 Server running under VirtualBox I was able to bring up both the 11gR2 database and SOA/BPM/BAM in 3G memory.  I allocated a minimum 512M to the PermGen and a minimum of 1.5G for the heap.  The setting from setSOADomainEnv are shown below: set DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS=-Xms1536m -Xmx2048m set PORT_MEM_ARGS=-Xms1536m -Xmx2048m set DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS=%DEFAULT_MEM_ARGS% -XX:PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=768m set PORT_MEM_ARGS=%PORT_MEM_ARGS% -XX:PermSize=512m -XX:MaxPermSize=768m I arrived at these numbers by monitoring JVM memory usage in JConsole. Task Manager showed total system memory usage at 2.9G – just below the 3G I allocated to the VM. Performance is not stellar but it runs and I could run JDeveloper alongside it on my 8G laptop, so in that sense it was a result!

So if I want to proceed free text, is there a predefined grammar for the english language? Or is it a better choice to don't use speech2text but just audio files instead?

• Matrix inversion in OpenCL

  Hi, I am trying to accelerate some computations using OpenCL and part of the algorithm consists of inverting a matrix. Is there any open-source library or freely available code to compute lu factorization (lapack dgetrf and dgetri) of matrix or general inversion written in OpenCL or CUDA? The matrix is real and square but doesn't have any other special properties besides that. So far, I've managed to find only basic blas matrix-vector operations implementations on gpu. The matrix is rather small, only about 60-100 rows and cols, so it could be computed faster on cpu, but it's used kinda in the middle of the algorithm, so I would have to transfer it to host, calculate the inverse, and then transfer the result back on the device where it's then used in much larger computations.

• Problems Executing iPhone "GenericKeychain" Example

  I can't get apple's "GenericKeychain" example to run. I have replaced all 5 occurrences, as mentioned in the readme file, of "YOUR_APP_ID_HERE.com.yourcompany" with my own string: se.[company name].[project name].demo. The compilation goes fine but when trying to run it on the phone, an error saying "The executable was signed with invalid entitlements" appears. And yes, I have an ad hoc provisioning profile installed. I've tried to add "Entitlements.plist" with "get-task-allow" checked but with the same result. Has anyone been able to run the example? What i would like to do now is to offer the "Export to PDF feature" trasforming the formatted html\css to PDF. I've imported Reportlab Toolkit and it works good but it's not what i need since it forces me to create PDF manually like: pcanvas.drawString(10, 10, 'This is the title Blah blah blah') What i really need is a library like PISA that trasform Html\Css to PDF. Anyone has managed to succesfully intregrate and use PISA on Google App Engine? Any hints?

• New Replication, Optimizer and High Availability features in MySQL 5.6.5!

  As the Product Manager for the MySQL database it is always great to announce when the MySQL Engineering team delivers another great product release.  As a field DBA and developer it is even better when that release contains improvements and innovation that I know will help those currently using MySQL for apps that range from modest intranet sites to the most highly trafficked web sites on the web.  That said, it is my pleasure to take my hat off to MySQL Engineering for today's release of the MySQL 5.6.5 Development Milestone Release ("DMR"). The new highlighted features in MySQL 5.6.5 are discussed here: New Self-Healing Replication ClustersThe 5.6.5 DMR improves MySQL Replication by adding Global Transaction Ids and automated utilities for self-healing Replication clusters.  Prior to 5.6.5 this has been somewhat of a pain point for MySQL users with most developing custom solutions or looking to costly, complex third-party solutions for these capabilities.  With 5.6.5 these shackles are all but removed by a solution that is included with the GPL version of the database and supporting GPL tools.  You can learn all about the details of the great, problem solving Replication features in MySQL 5.6 in Mat Keep's Developer Zone article.  New Replication Administration and Failover UtilitiesAs mentioned above, the new Replication features, Global Transaction Ids specifically, are now supported by a set of automated GPL utilities that leverage the new GTIDs to provide administration and manual or auto failover to the most up to date slave (that is the default, but user configurable if needed) in the event of a master failure. The new utilities, along with links to Engineering related blogs, are discussed in detail in the DevZone Article noted above. Better Query Optimization and ThroughputThe MySQL Optimizer team continues to amaze with the latest round of improvements in 5.6.5. Along with much refactoring of the legacy code base, the Optimizer team has improved complex query optimization and throughput by adding these functional improvements: Subquery Optimizations - Subqueries are now included in the Optimizer path for runtime optimization.  Better throughput of nested queries enables application developers to simplify and consolidate multiple queries and result sets into a single unit or work. Optimizer now uses CURRENT_TIMESTAMP as default for DATETIME columns - For simplification, this eliminates the need for application developers to assign this value when a column of this type is blank by default. Optimizations for Range based queries - Optimizer now uses ready statistics vs Index based scans for queries with multiple range values. Optimizations for queries using filesort and ORDER BY.  Optimization criteria/decision on execution method is done now at optimization vs parsing stage. Print EXPLAIN in JSON format for hierarchical readability and Enterprise tool consumption. I'm looking for a good resource that coves the following topics: How to create an interface that promotes code maintainability and is extensible for future upgrades. Library creation guidelines. Example, when should I consider using static vs dynamic libraries. How to properly design an ABI to cope with either one. Header files: what to partition out and when. Examples on when to use 1:1 vs 1:many .h to .c Anything you feel I missed but is important when attempting to architect a new C project. Ideally, I'd like to see some example projects ranging from small to large and see how the architecture changes depending on project size, function or customer. • Boost Thread Specific Storage Question (boost/thread/tss.hpp)

  The boost threading library has an abstraction for thread specific (local) storage. I have skimmed over the source code and it seems that the TSS functionality can be used in an application with any existing thread regardless of weather it was created from boost::thread --i.e., this implies that certain callbacks are registered with the kernel to hook in a callback function that may call the destructor of any TSS objects when the thread or process is going out of scope. I have found these callbacks. I need to cache HMAC_CTX's from OpenSSL inside the worker threads of various web-servers (see this, detailed, question for what I am trying to do), and as such I do not controll the life-time of the thread -- the web-server does. Therefore I will use the TSS functionality on threads not created by boost::thread. I just wanted to validate my assumptions before I started implementing the caching logic, are there any flaws in my logic ?
