• Jquery autocomplete for input form, using Textpattern category list as a source

  I'm using the Textpattern CMS to build a discussion site-- I have a firm grasp of XHTML and CSS, as well as Textpattern's template language, but PHP and Javascript are a bit beyond my cunning. On the input form to begin a new topic, users need to select a category from a list of over 5,000 options. Using the HTML select-type input element is very unwieldy, but it works. I would like to use some kind of Javascript magic to display a text-type input element that will read user input and display matches or autocomplete from the available categories, passing the required option's value into the appropriate database field. I've seen several autocomplete plugins for jquery, but the instructions presuppose that you understand how Javascript works. As I mentioned above, it's easy for me to generate the category list as a select-type input element, and I can hide that element using CSS. Is it possible to control select-list input using an autocomplete mechanism in a text-type input element? How would I do that?

• Trying to filter a ListView with runQueryOnBackgroundThread but nothing happens - what am I missing?

  I have a list of countries in a database. I have created a select country activity that consists of a edit box for filtering and a list which displays the flag and country name. When the activity starts the list shows the entire list of countries sorted alphabetically - works fine. When the customer starts typing into the search box I want the list to be filtered based on their typing. My database query was previously working in an AutoCompleteView (I just want to switch to a separate text box and list) so I know my full query and my constraint query are working. What I did was add a TextWatcher to the EditText view and every time the text is changed I invoke the list's SimpleCursorAdapter runQueryOnBackgroundThread with the edit boxes text as the constraint. The trouble is the list is never updated. I have set breakpoints in the debugger and the TextWatcher does make the call to runQueryOnBackgroundThread and my FilterQueryProvider is called with the expected constraint. The database query goes fine and the cursor is returned. • Alignment of View Elements within a LinearLayout

  I hate to ask this question; for some reason I can't figure it out on my own. I have a vertical LinearLayout that contains a custom View that I've defined in my app and and a TextView. I'd like my custom View to be aligned on the top of the screen and the TextView to be aligned at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately, no matter what changes I make to the attributes of the XML file, my custom View always seems to be centered vertically when I run the emulator. • HTML element to use as a Javascript message display

  I have a message display field on my website that I'd like to change the value of via JS. I've been using just a textfield, disabling it, and modifying the value via a JS function (after using a little CSS to make it not look like a text field): <input type="text" id="message" style="background: white; color: black" size="50" disabled> There has to be a better way (for instance, formatting is tricky whenever the message runs over the specified size), but I can't think of it off the top of my head.   Hello, I cannot put jChceckBox to jTable cell. More likely I can put checkBox to table, but when I run module with that table, the cell where should be checkBox shows text "true" or "false". The behaviors of that cell are the same like checkbox, but it shows text value instead of checkbox. Here is the code. • nivo slider and drop down menu doesnt work in IE

• IDE framework for a dynamic language?

  Let's say I have a super-wonderful new programming language, and I want there to be an IDE for it. What IDE platform/framework could I use to get this done efficiently? I mean things like: Collection of files in a project, searching them, tabbed/split editors etc. — the basics. Syntax highlighting and auto-indent/reformatting. Providing the user interface for code completion — hit tab, get a list (I'll have to implement the necessary partial evaluation myself (it's a dynamic language)). This is the feature I'm most wishing for. Built-in parser framework which is good at recovering from the sort of syntax errors occurring in code that is in the middle of being edited would be helpful. In-editor annotation of syntax/runtime error locations fed back from the language runtime. REPL (interactive evaluator) interaction with the same completion as in the editor. This system should be Linux/Mac/Windows cross-platform (in that priority order). Being implemented in Java (or rather, accepting language plugins written in Java) is possibly useful, but anything else is worth a try too.

  I have a django project that uses a sqlite database that can be written to by an external tool. The text is supposed to be UTF-8, but in some cases there will be errors in the encoding. The text is from an external source, so I cannot control the encoding. Yes, I know that I could write a "wrapping layer" between the external source and the database, but I prefer not having to do this, especially since the database already contains a lot of "bad" data. The solution in sqlite is to change the text_factory to something like: lambda x: unicode(x, "utf-8", "ignore") However, I don't know how to tell the Django model driver this.

• scaleX scaleY increeasing left, top margin, and line spacing

  If you have Text with a font that is 72 point for example (and scaleX scaleY = 1) you can achieve the same size with a font size of 12 and scaleX,scaleY = 6. For reasons that would take too long to explain I am applying a large scale factor as in the latter example. The problem is, even though the text is the same size, the line spacing and left and top margins have all been increased but I want them to be the same size as well. As far as the line spacing, I discovered that TextFormat.leading was being automatically increased when scaleX, scaleY was greater than 1, so I just had to reset TextFormat.leading back to 0. That leaves the left and top margins, and I have no idea how those are being increased. I tried TextFormat.blockIndent=0 and TextFormat.leftMargin=0 (and also ingnorePadding=true) and it had no effect. And have no clue how to reset the top margin either to its orginal size, in case anyone has an idea for all these.

  I need to be able to permanently change variables in a php file using php. I am creating a multilanguage site using codeigniter and using the language helper which stores the text in php files in variables in this format: $lang['title'] = "Stuff"; I've been able to access the plain text of the files using fopen() etc and I it seems that I could probably locate the areas I want to edit with with regular expressions and rewrite the file once I've made the changes but it seems a bit hacky. Is there any easy way to edit these variables permanently using php? Cheers

• Suggestions for a very easy to edit CMS?

  I need advice/suggestions. At my place of work - we have a large data set. We would like to server the data up as editable html pages. (Its mostly lists of simple text) We would like to add data, change it's order, update text etc...from the editable pages. It has to have a pretty low bar for usability and WYSIWYG is a must. The folks who will edit are not programmers by a long shot. We are not sure Wiki will work. It might have to do - but not sure. Changes have to be tracked and written back into the DB I am thinking some kind of open source CMS might work? Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal - something that can get us up and running pretty quickly. • Integer output in Java method not same as pre-converted char value.

  I'm trying to parse a simple text file in an integer method and then output an integer from such file so that other parts of the program can use it. For testing purposes it also displays the character value (9 in this case). The integer value for some reason is 57. I've also tried it with another part of the text file (which in that case should be 5, but is instead 53). After looking at an ASCII chart, I see that 57 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 9 and that 53 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 5. Is there any simple way I can fix this? I'm getting kind of frustrated as I'm a Java newbie (I've mostly only used FreePascal before this).

• How do I guarante node order for an Xpath 'OR' query

  I have a snippet of XML that looks like <body> Some text.... <nodeA>....</nodeA> more text <someOtherNode> <nodeA>.......</nodeA> </someOtherNode> <nodeB>.......</nodeB> etc..... </body> I'm selecting all nodeA and NodeB nodes inside <body> using an XPATH query similar to "//nodeA|//nodeB" As I understand it, .NET supports XPATH 1.0 which does not guarantee node order. How can I guarantee selected nodes are returned in document order in my OR query : that's to say : nodeA, nodeA, nodeB
