• SWF (using XML) only working locally, not on home server or web hosting server

  Hi, I use a main SWF file, which has some animations. It uses xml from a .php file which specifies several items, e.g. images and other SWFs to be used in the main SWF. Locally everything works perfectly, but when invoking it via my home server, or hosting provider it doesn't work anymore and I don't get why. All links are relative and correct. Somehow the main SWF doesn't load fully, or has problems with the XML from the .php file. The ActionScript from the main sWF can be found at samedomain as above/Actionscript_mainmovie.txt This also seems to work great. the function formattabs (line 68) uses some javascript. Locally the main SWF functions even without this hbx file which is located /cc-common/wss/hbx.js and use in the webpage actually. I haven't got a clue what's keeping the main SWF from working properly, because all other single SWFs work properly when invoked using a direct link. And this one just isn't working... Do I maybe need to add something in the php.ini file?? Any help would be appreciated!

• Should $new_link be used in mysql_connect()?

  I'm maintaining an inherited site built on Drupal. We are currently experiencing "too many connections" to the database. In the /includes/database.mysql.inc file, @mysql_connect($url['host'], $url['user'], $url['pass'], TRUE, 2) (mysql_connect() documentation) is used to connect to the database. Should $new_link = TRUE be used? My understanding is that it will "always open a new link." Could this be causing the "too many connections"?

  When I don't edit my .htaccess file, my image path reads something like: http://this.website.com/codeigniter/inc/images/logo.jpg. However, as soon as I add this code into the .htaccess file: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php) RewriteRule ^(.+)$ index.php?$1 [L] (to remove the index.php from the URL), I get 404 error, even with the exact same path. How do I remove index.php and still have access to my images?

• sigwait in Linux (Fedora 13) vs OS X

  So I'm trying to create a signal handler using pthreads which works on both OS X and Linux. The code below works on OS X but doesn't work on Fedora 13. The application is fairly simple. It spawns a pthread, registers SIGHUP and waits for a signal. After spawning the signal handler I block SIGHUP in the main thread so the signal should only be sent to the signal_handler thread. On OS X this works fine, if I compile, run and send SIGHUP to the process it prints "Got SIGHUP". On Linux it just kills the process (and prints Hangup). If I comment out the signal_handler pthread_create the application doesn't die. I know the application gets to the sigwait and blocks but instead of return the signal code it just kills the application.   At the bottom of this image, you'll see a nice colorbar that matches the colors of the graph correctly: http://stribog.cc.umanitoba.ca/ceos/20100517_00z_prod/ I couldn't find anything that created a color bar with exactly the colors I wanted, it always seemed to involve a spectrum that included colors I didn't use.
