Linux Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 - microphone issues

I got a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, the cam itself is working as it honors the UVC spec. This fancy WebCam has a integrated mic which worked some time before but now, it does no more. (Note: I use pulseaudio as it is a USB Mic and I am not really keen on the hassle of ALSA setup) Things I check already are if it gets detected at all: $ lsusb |grep Logi Bus 002 Device 002: ID 046d:0809 Logitech, Inc. Webcam Pro 9000 is muted in alsa-mixer - not the case, volume at 100 pavucontrol shows it too, but no input level bar! On top of that, if I open the gnome3 (fallback mode) audio panel(from the desktop panel), and disabel/reenable it in the hardware tab, it works "for some time"... Any hints? Any ideas? I am really out options for now, and the fact it worked like 6 months ago (perfectly) makes it no better.

Redirect email based on Source IP / Hostname

So, we have a situation where we would like to be able to redirect (ignoring original destination) emails coming through out exchange server (locally sent) to a different email address. The situation is as follows: Testing a new server, this hosts a lot of our custom applications / scheduled tasks (as does the production version of this server). Instead of changing config files / parameters for these applications we'd rather leave them as they are, as we want to be as close to production as possible, however we don't want the emails go to the staff they would normally go to, we'd rather they were sent to a test email address where we are able to confirm the results. The emails look exactly like the production emails (same from / to / cc / bcc) except their source, hence why we'd like to know if the ability to redirect based on hostname exists. Cheers.

Gathering IP's from a complicated log

I have a question regarding the use of some more advanced grep, awk, sed. I have a log file, for a proprietary MTA, that contains IP's in a string, delimited by [redacted]^~x.x.x.x^[redacted]. So far all of my grepping, awking, and sedding hasn't gotten me very far. This log file has 331520 lines in it. My goal was to simply grep out the ip's, then do a for loop with sed, to sed 's/$i/redacted'. I'm including a sample of one of the log entries. If you all have any idea, I would be greatly appreciative. Trouble joining Windows Server 2008 to Domain

When I try to join my new server to my existing domain I get the following error: "An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resove DNS names in the target domain." I have tried all of the following already: Successfully pinged the domain controller. Ping the new server from the domain controller by IP address and by DNS name. Ping the DC server from the new server by IP address and by DNS name. Changed the network to DHCP (it was originally static). No joy as static or DHCP. Turned off all firewall settings. Added the domain name to 'hosts' file. Added the server name of the primary domain controller to the 'hosts' file in the new server. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help! Jim Update: With help from J. Brian Kelly (Thanks) I have managed to narrow down the problem to a DNS issue. Specifically, UDP/53 packets are being sent (they are seen in Network Monitor), but are not getting to the DNS server. As regards directory structure for virtual mail users, the author of the tutorial writes: Virtual mail users are those that do not exist as Unix system users. They thus don't use the standard Unix methods of authentication or mail delivery and don't have home directories. That is how we are managing things here: mail users are defined in the database created by Postfix Admin rather than existing as system users. CentOS PAM+LDAP login and host attribute

My system is CentOS 6.3, openldap is configured well, PAM authorization works fine. But after turning pam_check_host_attr to yes, all LDAP-auths fail with message "Access denied for this host". hostname on the server returns correct value, the same value is listed in user's profile. re-point LM to a new vCenter (share same database)

1) I'm planning to create a new vCenter server which database point to the same db as current vCenter (the one LM pointing to atm), Then I'm planning to repoint the LM to a new vCenter, ( the new one will see the same esx host, datastore, etc) Is LM will be okay if I do this? 2) The currect VC is a dediated server and a new vCenter will be VM, the current vCenter has database installed on local machine (inc update manager as well) I'm planning to move the local db to cluster db then point the current vCenter to this new cluster and make sure everything is working before promote a new one. Update manager will also has it own VM and point to a new db cluster. Is anythingelse I miss out or need to pay more attention on? thanks

Non-Registry Fix for Secondary Mailboxes Sent Items

There is a known issue with Outlook and Exchange where "secondary" mailboxes which are mounted in the same profile, e.g. "John Doe" + CorpMailbox1, CorpMailbox2, CorpMailbox3 will place "sent items" from the secondary mailboxes (e.g. CorpMailbox1) in the user's (e.g. "John Doe") Sent Items folder. There is a registry value (something like DelegateSentItems) to semi-fix this, but I'm looking for an Exchange-side solution. It seems like, at some point, an admin made CC rules to fix this, and for the mailboxes where I see a BCC rule: any item sent to [address] BCC to [address]. The behavior "fixes" the issue, but when I duplicate this work-around for new shared mailboxes, the email ends up in the Inbox and not the Sent Items for the shared mailbox. I don't believe there is any outlook/client-side shenanigans going on, as the intended behavior for the older mailboxes works for new PCs/Users (new imagse) without any Outlook Mailbox Rules.

OpenGL support no longer available

I've been using OpenGL hardware acceleration in programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe After Effects CS4. I've noticed that recently the options for OpenGL previews are disabled because my graphics card seems to not support OpenGL. But that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I know for a fact that my graphics card does have support for OpenGL and it worked before. I checked for driver updates just the other day. Anybody know what's going on? I'm redoing my firewall configuration with more restrictive policies and I would like to determine the provenance (and/or destination) of some outgoing connections. I have an issue because they come from svchost.exe and go to web content/application delivery providers - or similar: 5 IP in range: 82.96.58.0 - 82.96.58.255 --> Akamai Technologies akamaitechnologies.com 3 IP in range: 93.150.110.0 - 93.158.111.255 --> Akamai Technologies akamaitechnologies.com 2 IP in range: 87.248.194.0 - 87.248.223.255 --> LLNW Europe 2 llnw.net 205.234.175.175 --> CacheNetworks, Inc. cachefly.net 188.121.36.239 --> Go Daddy Netherlands B.V. secureserver.net So is it possible to know which service does a particular connection? HP LaserJet 1320 printing black boxes instead of text

I have an HP LaserJet 1320, running off of the HP PCL5 64-bit Universal Driver (Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit). When printing, anything other than body text is blacked out. I.e. on an email, where the 'To...', 'From...', 'CC...' and 'Subect' are usually shown at the top, there is just a black box. And on Word documents, anything to do with Track Changes is also blacked out. I have tried restarting the Print Spooler, and reinstalling the printer, but this does not help. Does anybody know why this is happening?

I mainly used it for Graphic Design (eg, Photoshop, Cinema4d, Illustrator, Flash). I was planning to increase my Memory adding 2 GB more, Pushing it to something like 4GB in total. But just found out that recently that I already have 2x2GB installed and should be 4GB in total. When I looked at the properties of my computer, It said "Installed Memory 2GB". I wonder why is that happening? Is the other ram broken?.. I never the computer casing since I bought. so I didn't realize that I already have 2 x 2gb ram. what can you advice. Thanks!

I'm trying to utilize maximal bandwidth provided by my 1GiB network card, but it's always limited to 80MiB (real megabytes). What can be the reason? Drupal + Lighttpd: enabling clean urls (rewriting)

I'm emulating Ubuntu on my mac, and I use it as a server. I've installed lighttpd + Drupal and the following configuration section requires a domain name in order to make clean urls to work. Is it possible to control my CPU frequency?

My laptop's CPU Type is: Mobile AMD Turion 64 ML-30, 1600 MHz (8 x 200) I was wondering how to find out if its CPU frequency is controllable? What softwares or other ways can control my CPU frequency? My OSes are Windows XP and Ubuntu. Can I control CPU frequency so that the CPU temperature can be controlled not to exceed some temperature? Battery backed write cache behavior upon disk change

We use 3ware Inc 9650SE SATA-II RAID PCIe RAID controllers with battery backed write cache. Our spare hardware has the same controller. I was wondering; are these controllers smart enough not to sync the cache when the disks have been changed? For example, if I deploy one of those spare machines by putting in the disks of another machine and that spare machine still has pending writes, will it be smart enough not to perform those writes on the replaced array? Edit: my scenario is not really made clear, so let me give an example: server1 goes down because of power supply failure. I put the disks in server2 and start. I repair server1 I put the disks back from server2 in server1 (it's not relevant right now that in reality I would probably keep server2 running). If server1 doesn't have safeguards, it will write to the array, thinking it's simply powering up again, corrupting it.
