  • How to dismiss the MFMailComposeViewController in cocos2d ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I have changed my code to this way. Now mail controller is opening in landscape mode. But the problem is If I touch on cancel button or send button the mail controller is not dismissing its view. How can I do it ? -(void)goToFirstScreen:(id)sender { NSLog(@"goToFirstScreen: "); CCScene *Scene = [CCScene node]; CCLayer *Layer = [EmailScene node]; [Scene addChild:Layer]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] setAnimationInterval:1.0/60]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] pushScene: Scene]; } Th EmailScene class is #import "EmailScene.h" #import "testOfEnd.h" @implementation EmailScene - (id) init { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { [self displayComposerSheet]; } return self; } -(void)displayComposerSheet { [[CCDirector sharedDirector] pause]; picker = [[MFMailComposeViewController alloc] init]; picker.mailComposeDelegate = self; [[[CCDirector sharedDirector] openGLView] addSubview:picker.view]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] stopAnimation]; [picker presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; } - (void)mailComposeController:(MFMailComposeViewController*)controller didFinishWithResult:(MFMailComposeResult)result error:(NSError*)error { [[CCDirector sharedDirector] resume]; //dismiss view after otherwise the code is not executed [picker.view removeFromSuperview]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] startAnimation]; [picker dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; //return to previous scene CCScene *Scene = [CCScene node]; CCLayer *Layer = [testOfEnd node]; [Scene addChild:Layer]; [[CCDirector sharedDirector] replaceScene:Scene]; } @end Thank You.

  • UITouch Events and Table Views

    - by Andy
I'm working on a navigation-based iPhone-only app that serves two main purposes: One, to present data in a hierarchical view, allowing users to drill down and eventually edit said data, and, two, to all users to perform a default action when the table view cell is tapped. I now need to offer a small set of options tied to the same data; however, both the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: and accessoryButtonTappedForRowAtIndexPath: methods are obviously taken. So, my options seem to be to implement a double-tap method, wherein the small list of additional options would be presented after (you guessed it) a double-tap on said table row; or, preferably, a tap-and-hold method. From what I can tell, tap-and-hold seems like the way to go in SDK 4.0 - which does me no good right this red-hot minute. I decided to go with the double-tap option, but I'm having a little trouble. First and foremost, the touchesBegan:withEvent: method does not seem to be getting called at all; a breakpoint placed within the method is never called while the application runs, and the table view responds exactly as it did before I inserted the method (which is to say, it performs the default action): - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *aTouch = [touches anyObject]; if (aTouch.tapCount == 2) { [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self]; } } Second, I don't really need to handle a single-tap - the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: method can handle the single-tap just fine. The double-tap is the funky one I want to handle. I suspect the answer is going to contain the phrase, "You can't have the table view handle the single-tap and the touchesBegan: method handle the double-tap. The touch handling methods have to handle all of them." I would really appreciate some guidance from some of you who've dealt with this issue. Thanks in advance.

  • How to move a symlink to the trash?

  • Keyboard blocking my view

    - by John Smith
    I have a UIView with another UIView inside it. On the inside UIView there is a textbox which I want to fill in. When I try to fill it in the keyboard blocks my view: The UIViewController has the following containerView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; self.view=containerView; //The apropriate releases etc are further on... When I touch it, the keyboard comes up as expected, but blocks the textbox I'm trying to fill in. How can I force the view to slide up? The front view OptionsFront * fv = [[OptionsFront alloc] initWithFrame:[UIScreen mainScreen].bounds]; [containerView addSubview:frontView]; In the front view is a subview CGRect bounds = CGRectMake(0.0f, 210.0f, 280.0f, 130.0f); sv = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:bounds]; [self addSubview:sv]; //added to frontView In sv is a textbox near the botton: rect = CGRectMake(70.0f, 20.0f, 100.0f, 27.0f); cf = [self createTextField_Rounded:rect holder:@"+ve"]; [sv addSubview:cf]; So cf happens to be near the bottom of the page. I expected that when I select it, the whole display would move up, but the keyboard just moves up and blocks it. What can I do? Appendix: - (UITextField *)createTextField_Rounded:(CGRect) frame holder:(NSString *) ph { UITextField *returnTextField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; returnTextField.borderStyle = UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect; returnTextField.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; returnTextField.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:17.0]; returnTextField.delegate = self; returnTextField.keyboardType = UIKeyboardTypeNumbersAndPunctuation; returnTextField.returnKeyType = UIReturnKeyDone; returnTextField.clearButtonMode = UITextFieldViewModeWhileEditing; return returnTextField; }

  • Create swipe controlled simple flipbook style animation in ObjC

    - by eco_bach
Hi I am a beginner in Obj C development, though quite experienced (over 10 years) with other ECMAscript based languages and OOP development. I want to build a simple flipbook style animation, controlled through swiping motion. I'm sure extremely simple for any advanced ObjC coders. Can anyone with extensive ObjC-CocoaTouch experience give me some higher level recommendations? ie, 1 -general application design, should I start with a simple view based application, or navigation based or? 2 -should I use 3rd party animation frameworks such as Cocos2D, or stick with built in classes and methods? 3 -if using built in methods, classes, what is the recommended way of achieving a animation, that will be controlled via swipe and touch gestures? 4 -I want to eventually have multiple 'flipbooks' that I can 'instantly' swap with one another, ie to give the net effect of an object changing color, etc, but not sure how to approach this from a memory management point of view, related to #1 above Except for point 3 above, I'm not expecting any actual code examples. Just general guidelines to follow and perhaps, what are some next steps I should take in my goal as an ObjC code samurai.

  • How to Implement Rich Document Editor for iPhone

    - by benjismith
I'm just getting started on a new iPhone/iPad development project, and I need to display a document with rich styled text (potentially with embedded images). The user will touch the document, dragging to highlight individual words or multiline text spans. When the text is highlighted, a context menu will appear, letting them change the color of highlighting or add margin notes (or other various bits of structured metadata). If you're familiar with adding comments to a Word document (or annotating a PDF), then this is the same sort of thing. But in my case, the typical user will spend many many hours within the app, adding thousands (in some cases, tens of thousands) of small annotations to the central document. All of those bits of metadata will be stored locally awaiting synchronization with a remote web service. I've read other pieces of advice, where developers suggest creating a UIWebView control and passing it an HTML string. But that seems kind of clunky, especially with all the context-sensitivity that I want to include. Anyhow, I'm brand new to iPhone development and Objective-C, though I have ten years of software development experience, using a variety of languages on many different platforms, so I'm not worried about getting my hands dirty writing new functionality from scratch. But if anyone has experience building a similar kind of component, I'm interested in hearing strategies for enabling that kind of rich document markup and annotation.

  • Reload a UITable on the fly when editing a UITextField inside one of the cells

    - by Saze
I have a UITable containing some customs UITableCells. Those cells contain a few UILabels and a UITextField. The datasource of the table comes from a main controller's property. (This controller is also the delegate and the dataSource for the table). Here's a simplified screenshot of the UI: Now, I need to update "on the fly" the content of all the UILabels when the user edits one of the UITextFields. To do so, at the I am listening to the "Editing Changed" event at the UITextField level. This triggers the following action: - (IBAction) editChangeHandler: (id) sender { MyAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [[delegate.viewController.myDataSourceArray objectAtIndex:self.rowIndex] setANumber: [theTextField.text intValue]]; [delegate.viewController reloadRows]; } The reloadRows method in the viewController is as such: - (void) reloadRows { NSLog(@"called reloadRows"); //perform some calculations on the data source objects here... [theUITable reloadData]; } My problem here is that whenever the user changes the value in the field, the reloadRows method is successfully called, so is apparently the reloadData but it also causes the keyboard to be dismissed. So in the end, the user can only touch one key when editing the TextField before the keyboard is dismissed and the table reloaded. Does anybody knows a solution to this or have experienced the same issue?

  • Any point in subclassing UIButton to create a custom looking button?

    - by glitch
I want to create a set of buttons that would work and feel very much like the Metro-style tiles that are available on Windows Phones. I would like to allow the user to tap them to access their underlying functionality (open a modal or something or that sort). I'm concerned that subclassing UIButton will not get me there. I need square corners and dynamic content inside the tiles themselves. The posts I've found around SO seem to suggest that subclassing a UIButton would not be a good idea for several reasons and that I should instead use UIView. That reply is from 2010, and I have no idea if in the 2+ years since then there have been considerable changes to how one would achieve that effect. Most users these days will have iOS 5.1+ if not 6.0 soon. Let's say I do go the UIView route. Should I implement UIResponder's touch events or should I instead go the UITapGestureRecognizer route? What's the better practice in 2012? Thank you!

  • Convert NSData to primitive variable with ieee-754 or twos-complement ?

    - by William GILLARD
Hi every one. I am new programmer in Obj-C and cocoa. Im a trying to write a framework which will be used to read a binary files (Flexible Image Transport System or FITS binary files, usually used by astronomers). The binary data, that I am interested to extract, can have various formats and I get its properties by reading the header of the FITS file. Up to now, I manage to create a class to store the content of the FITS file and to isolate the header into a NSString object and the binary data into a NSData object. I also manage to write method which allow me to extract the key values from the header that are very valuable to interpret the binary data. I am now trying to convert the NSData object into a primitive array (array of double, int, short ...). But, here, I get stuck and would appreciate any help. According to the documentation I have about the FITS file, I have 5 possibilities to interpret the binary data depending on the value of the BITPIX key: BITPIX value | Data represented 8 | Char or unsigned binary int 16 | 16-bit two's complement binary integer 32 | 32-bit two's complement binary integer 64 | 64-bit two's complement binary integer -32 | IEEE single precision floating-point -64 | IEEE double precision floating-point I already write the peace of code, shown bellow, to try to convert the NSData into a primitive array. // self reefer to my FITS class which contain a NSString object // with the content of the header and a NSData object with the binary data. -(void*) GetArray { switch (BITPIX) { case 8: return [self GetArrayOfUInt]; break; case 16: return [self GetArrayOfInt]; break; case 32: return [self GetArrayOfLongInt]; break; case 64: return [self GetArrayOfLongLong]; break; case -32: return [self GetArrayOfFloat]; break; case -64: return [self GetArrayOfDouble]; break; default: return NULL; } } // then I show you the method to convert the NSData into a primitive array. // I restrict my example to the case of 'double'. Code is similar for other methods // just change double by 'unsigned int' (BITPIX 8), 'short' (BITPIX 16) // 'int' (BITPIX 32) 'long lon' (BITPIX 64), 'float' (BITPIX -32). -(double*) GetArrayOfDouble { int Nelements=[self NPIXEL]; // Metod to extract, from the header // the number of element into the array NSLog(@"TOTAL NUMBER OF ELEMENTS [%i]\n",Nelements); //CREATE THE ARRAY double (*array)[Nelements]; // Get the total number of bits in the binary data int Nbit = abs(BITPIX)*GCOUNT*(PCOUNT + Nelements); // GCOUNT and PCOUNT are defined // into the header NSLog(@"TOTAL NUMBER OF BIT [%i]\n",Nbit); int i=0; //FILL THE ARRAY double Value; for(int bit=0; bit < Nbit; bit+=sizeof(double)) { [Img getBytes:&Value range:NSMakeRange(bit, sizeof(double))]; NSLog(@"[%i]:(%u)%.8G\n",i,bit,Value); (*array)[i]=Value; i++; } return (*array); } However, the value I print in the loop are very different from the expected values (compared using official FITS software). Therefore, I think that the Obj-C double does not use the IEEE-754 convention as well as the Obj-C int are not twos-complement. I am really not familiar with this two convention (IEEE and twos-complement) and would like to know how I can do this conversion with Obj-C. In advance many thanks for any help or information.

  • Broken Multithreading With Core Data

    - by spamguy
This is a better-focused version of an earlier question that touches upon an entirely different subject from before. I am working on a Cocoa Core Data application with multiple threads. There is a Song and Artist; every Song has an Artist relation. There is a delegate code file not cited here; it more or less looks like the template XCode generates. I am far better working with the former technology than the latter, and any multithreading capability came from a Core Data template. When I'm doing all my ManagedObjectContext work in one method, I am fine. When I put fetch-or-insert-then-return-object work into a separate method, the application halts (but does not crash) at the new method's return statement, seen below. The new method even gets its own MOC to be safe, and it has not helped any. The result is one addition to Song and a halt after generating an Artist. I get no errors or exceptions, and I don't know why. I've debugged out the wazoo. My theory is that any errors occurring are in another thread, and the one I'm watching is waiting on something forever. What did I do wrong with getArtistObject: , and how can I fix it? Thanks. - (void)main { NSInteger songCount = 1; NSManagedObjectContext *moc = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [moc setPersistentStoreCoordinator:[[self delegate] persistentStoreCoordinator]]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(contextDidSave:) name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:moc]; /* songDict generated here */ for (id key in songDict) { NSManagedObject *song = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Song" inManagedObjectContext:moc]; [song setValue:[songDictItem objectForKey:@"Name"] forKey:@"title"]; [song setValue:[self getArtistObject:(NSString *) [songDictItem objectForKey:@"Artist"]] forKey:@"artist"]; [songDictItem release]; songCount++; } NSError *error; if (![moc save:&error]) [NSApp presentError:error]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:moc]; [moc release], moc = nil; [[self delegate] importDone]; } - (NSManagedObject*) getArtistObject:(NSString*)theArtist { NSError *error = nil; NSManagedObjectContext *moc = [[NSManagedObjectContext alloc] init]; [moc setPersistentStoreCoordinator:[[self delegate] persistentStoreCoordinator]]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(contextDidSave:) name:NSManagedObjectContextDidSaveNotification object:moc]; NSFetchRequest *fetch = [[[NSFetchRequest alloc] init] autorelease]; NSEntityDescription *entityDescription = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Artist" inManagedObjectContext:moc]; [fetch setEntity:entityDescription]; // object to be returned NSManagedObject *artistObject = [[NSManagedObject alloc] initWithEntity:entityDescription insertIntoManagedObjectContext:moc]; // set predicate (artist name) NSPredicate *pred = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"name = \"%@\"", theArtist]]; [fetch setPredicate:pred]; NSArray *response = [moc executeFetchRequest:fetch error:&error]; if (error) [NSApp presentError:error]; if ([response count] == 0) // empty resultset --> no artists with this name { [artistObject setValue:theArtist forKey:@"name"]; NSLog(@"%@ not found. • Sqlite3 : "Database is locked" error

    - by Miraaj
    Hi all, In my cocoa application I am maintaining a SQLite db within resources folder and trying to do some select, delete operations in it but after some time it starts giving me 'Database is locked' error. The methods which I am using for select delete operations are as follows: // method to retrieve data if (sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0, @"Failed to open database"); } NSLog(@"mailBodyFor:%d andFlag:%d andFlag:%@",UId,x,Ffolder); NSMutableArray *recordsToReturn = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:2]; NSString *tempMsg; const char *sqlStatementNew; NSLog(@"before switch"); switch (x) { case 9: // tempMsg=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM users_messages"]; tempMsg=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT message,AttachFileOriName as oriFileName,AttachmentFileName as fileName FROM users_messages WHERE id = (select message_id from users_messages_status where id= '%d')",UId]; NSLog(@"mail body query - %@",tempMsg); break; default: break; } sqlStatementNew = [tempMsg cStringUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatementNew; NSLog(@"before if statement"); if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sqlStatementNew, -1, &compiledStatementNew, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { NSLog(@"the sql is finalized"); while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatementNew) == SQLITE_ROW) { NSMutableDictionary *recordDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithCapacity:3]; NSString *message; if((char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatementNew, 0)){ message = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatementNew, 0)]; } else{ message = @""; } NSLog(@"message - %@",message); NSString *oriFileName; if((char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatementNew, 1)){ oriFileName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatementNew, 1)]; } else{ oriFileName = @""; } NSLog(@"oriFileName - %@",oriFileName); NSString *fileName; if((char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatementNew, 2)){ fileName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatementNew, 2)]; } else{ fileName = @""; } NSLog(@"fileName - %@",fileName); [recordDict setObject:message forKey:@"message"]; [recordDict setObject:oriFileName forKey:@"oriFileName"]; [recordDict setObject:fileName forKey:@"fileName"]; [recordsToReturn addObject:recordDict]; [recordDict release]; } sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatementNew); sqlite3_close(database); NSLog(@"user messages return -%@",recordsToReturn); return recordsToReturn; } else{ NSLog(@"Error while creating retrieving mailBodyFor in messaging '%s'", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); sqlite3_close(database); } // method to delete data if (sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0, @"Failed to open database"); } NSString *deleteQuery = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"delete from users_messages_status where id IN(%@)",ids]; NSLog(@"users_messages_status msg deleteQuery - %@",deleteQuery); sqlite3_stmt *deleteStmnt; const char *sql = [deleteQuery cStringUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sql, -1, &deleteStmnt, NULL) != SQLITE_OK){ NSLog(@"Error while creating delete statement. '%s'", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); } else{ NSLog(@"successful deletion from users_messages"); } if(SQLITE_DONE != sqlite3_step(deleteStmnt)){ NSLog(@"Error while deleting. '%s'", sqlite3_errmsg(database)); } sqlite3_close(database); Things are going wrong in this sequence Data is retrieved 'Database is locked' error arises on performing delete operation. When I retry to perform 1st step.. it now gives same error. Can anyone suggest me: If I am doing anything wrong or missing some check? Is there any way to unlock it when it gives locked error? Thanks, Miraaj

  • UIWebView leak? Can someone confirm?

    - by Shaggy Frog
I was leak-testing my current project and I'm stumped. I've been browsing like crazy and tried everything except chicken sacrifice. I just created a tiny toy project app from scratch and I can duplicate the leak in there. So either UIWebView has a leak or I'm doing something really silly. Essentially, it boils down to a loadRequest: call to a UIWebView object, given an URLRequest built from an NSURL which references a file URL, for a file in the app bundle, which lives inside a folder that Xcode is including by reference. Phew. The leak is intermittent but still happens ~75% of the time (in about 20 tests it happened about 15 times). It only happens on the device -- this does not leak in the simulator. I am testing targeting both iPhone OS 3.1.2 and 3.1.3, on an original (1st Gen) iPod Touch that is using iPhone OS 3.1.3. To reproduce, just create a project from scratch. Add a UIWebView to the RootViewController's .xib, hook it up via IBOutlet. In the Finder, create a folder named "html" inside your project's folder. Inside that folder, create a file named "dummy.html" that has the word "Test" in it. (Does not need to be valid HTML.) Then add the html folder to your project in Xcode by choosing "Create Folder References for any added folders" Add the following to viewDidLoad NSString* resourcePath = [[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]; NSString* filePath = [[resourcePath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"html"] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"dummy.html"]; NSURL* url = [[NSURL alloc] initFileURLWithPath:filePath]; NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url]; // <-- this creates the leak! [browserView loadRequest:request]; [url release]; I've tried everything from setting delegate for the UIWebView and implementing UIWebViewDelegate, to not setting a delegate in IB, to not setting a delegate in IB and explicitly setting the web view's delegate property to nil, to using alloc/init instead of getting autoreleased NSURLRequests (and/or NSURLs)... I tried the answer to a similar question (setting the shared URL cache to empty) and that did not help. Can anyone help?

  • NSOutlineView not refreshing when objects added to managed object context from NSOperations

    - by John Gallagher
Background Cocoa app using core data Two processes - daemon and a main UI Daemon constantly writing to a data store UI process reads from same data store NSOutlineView in UI is bound to an NSTreeController which is bound to Application with key path of delegate.interpretedMOC What I want When the UI is activated, the outline view should update with the latest data inserted by the daemon. The Problem Main Thread Approach I fetch all the entities I'm interested in, then iterate over them, doing refreshObject:mergeChanges:YES. This works OK - the items get refreshed correctly. However, this is all running on the main thread, so the UI locks up for 10-20 seconds whilst it refreshes. Fine, so let's move these refreshes to NSOperations that run in the background instead. NSOperation Multithreaded Approach As soon as I move the refreshObject:mergeChanges: call into an NSOperation, the refresh no longer works. When I add logging messages, it's clear that the new objects are loaded in by the NSOperation subclass and refreshed. Not only that, but they are What I've tried I've messed around with this for 2 days solid and tried everything I can think of. Passing objectIDs to the NSOperation to refresh instead of an entity name. Resetting the interpretedMOC at various points - after the data refresh and before the outline view reload. I'd subclassed NSOutlineView. I discarded my subclass and set the view back to being an instance of NSOutlineView, just in case there was any funny goings on here. Added a rearrangeObjects call to the NSTreeController before reloading the NSOutlineView data. Made sure I had set the staleness interval to 0 on all managed object contexts I was using. I've got a feeling this problem is somehow related to caching core data objects in memory. But I've totally exhausted all my ideas on how I get this to work. I'd be eternally grateful of any ideas anyone else has. Code Main Thread Approach // In App Delegate -(void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(NSNotification *)notification { // Delay to allow time for the daemon to save [self performSelector:@selector(refreshTrainingEntriesAndGroups) withObject:nil afterDelay:3]; } -(void)refreshTrainingEntriesAndGroups { NSSet *allTrainingGroups = [[[NSApp delegate] interpretedMOC] fetchAllObjectsForEntityName:kTrainingGroup]; for(JGTrainingGroup *thisTrainingGroup in allTrainingGroups) [interpretedMOC refreshObject:thisTrainingGroup mergeChanges:YES]; NSError *saveError = nil; [interpretedMOC save:&saveError]; [windowController performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(refreshTrainingView) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; } // In window controller class -(void)refreshTrainingView { [trainingViewTreeController rearrangeObjects]; // Didn't really expect this to have any effect. • Portion from CGPDFPage + Scale (zoom)

    - by malcom
    I wanna take a rect from CGPDFPage (the portion of image around the user's touch point(x,y)) and scale it by a scaleFactor (ie 2x). Below the code I've used to get CGPDFPage's rect. The problem with it is the scaleFactor support. The idea is: 1) pageRect size is pageRect.size *2 2) myThumbRect (the region to zoom) become resultImageSize/scaleFactor (because the final output will be scaleFactor times bigger) 3) pointOfClick (x,y) become pointOfClick(2x,2y) 4) scale up the context by factor CGContextScaleCTM(ctx, scaleFactor, -scaleFactor); 5) grab the rect However the result is an empty image. Any idea? -(UIImage *) zoomedPDFImageAtPoint:(CGPoint) pointOfClick size:(CGSize) resultImageSize scale:(CGFloat) scaleFactor { // get the rect of our page CGRect pageRect = CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(myPageRef, kCGPDFCropBox); // my thumb rect is a portion of our CGPDFPage with size as /scaleFactor of resultImageSize // then we need to scale the image portiong by *scaleFactor and draw it in our resultImageSize sized graphic context CGSize myThumbRect = resultImageSize; // page rect has size as original size * scaleFactor //resultImageSize = pageRect.size; // to remove, i've used it to see where the rect is printed in final image pointOfClick = CGPointMake(-pointOfClick.x, -pointOfClick.y); NSLog(@"Click (%0.f,%0.f) Page (%0.f,%0.f ; %0.f,%0.f)",pointOfClick.x,pointOfClick.y,pageRect.origin.x,pageRect.origin.y,pageRect.size.width,pageRect.size.height); // create a new context for resulting image of my desidered size UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(resultImageSize); CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSaveGState(ctx); // because rect is that for drawing in a flipped coordinate system, this translate the lower-left corner of the rect // in an upright coordinate system CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, CGRectGetMinX(pageRect),CGRectGetMaxY(pageRect)); // scale to flip the coordinate system so that the y axis goes up the drawing canvas CGContextScaleCTM(ctx, 1, -1); // translate so the origin is offset by exactly the rect origin CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, -(pageRect.origin.x), -(pageRect.origin.y)); // zoomRect is interested region.the clickPoint is the center of this region CGRect zoomedRect = CGRectMake(-pointOfClick.x, (pageRect.size.height-(-pointOfClick.y)),myThumbRect.width,myThumbRect.height); zoomedRect.origin.y-=(myThumbRect.height/2.0); zoomedRect.origin.x-=(myThumbRect.width/2.0); NSLog(@"Zoom region at (%0.f,%0.f) (%0.f,%0.f)",zoomedRect.origin.x,zoomedRect.origin.y,zoomedRect.size.width,zoomedRect.size.height); // now we need to move clipped rect to the origin // x: x was moved subtracting current click x coordinate and adding the half of zoomed rect (because zoomedRect contains pointsOfClick at it's center) // same with y but inverse (because ctm is flipped) CGPoint translateToOrigin = CGPointMake(pointOfClick.x+(zoomedRect.size.width/2.0), -pointOfClick.y-(zoomedRect.size.height/2.0));//(pageRect.size.height-zoomedRect.size.height)+pointOfClick.y); NSLog(@"Translate zoomed region to origin using translate by (%0.f,%0.f)",translateToOrigin.x,translateToOrigin.y); CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, translateToOrigin.x,translateToOrigin.y); CGContextClipToRect (ctx, zoomedRect); // now draw the document CGContextDrawPDFPage(ctx, myPageRef); CGContextRestoreGState(ctx); // generate image UIImage *finalImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); return finalImage; }

  • What is the best free software to learn touch-typing?

    - by gojira
What is the best free software to learn touch-typing? Features it needs to have: should NOT display the keyboard layout on the screen! should give detailed statistics which actually measure progress (for which key do I have the highest error rate, graphs showing how typing speed improved over time, etc) should enable me to actually learn touch-typing in about one long weekend were I don't do much else than learning to touch-type. it would be very good if it were possible to load a text-file and the program will use words from the text-file for the exercises as well My goals are: at least same typing speed as I have now but which touch-typing, want to be able to look at the screen only when typing P.S.: EDIT: I forgot to mention, I'm using Win 7. And I know what the Dvorak and Colemak keyboard layouts are, but I'm not interested in them. My question was with respect to standard US keyboard layout.

  • How can I tell which laptop touch-screens work well with a stylus (for drawing/taking notes)?

    - by BlueRaja
I'm looking for a laptop with a touch-screen and stylus for drawing/note-taking. I've read the difference between the different kinds of styluses, but that's only half the story - what about the touch-screen? How do I know if the touch-screen supports "palm-rejection"? Or if the included stylus is a capacitive stylus or a "Wacom digitizer"? Or if the screen will even support Wacom? How can I tell how accurate the touch-screen is (from my testing, some definitely seem to have higher "resolution" than others)? Is there anything else I should be looking at? I don't see any of this information on, for instance, the Newegg specs page for a laptop.

  • iphone basic game loop

    - by Mrigank Gupta
I am little confused with my Opengl game loop. as I am skipping touch events some times. My game loop is some thing like this.. I have ScreenManager which draw and update all game screens who so ever has control. In update I am checking input of all screen also. if input state changes, then whichever screen has control, consume touches. EaglView draw update | | ScreenManager.draw ScreenManager.update -> handle input stack ___________ ___________ of ___________ ___________ screen ___________ ___________ Problem comes.. I am changing input state as touch begun and end methods called. but sometimes In my game loop both touchbegun/end methods get called between two updates and I am missing events. I guess approach is not good. can you guys share your approach to this problem.

  • Bypass system sound setting objective c

    - by HiGuy Smith
Hi. I have an app that Is supposed to play a AudioServicesPlayAlertSound(); but I've noticed on the iPod touch 1G, the sound will only play if the system sound setting is set to speaker or both. Is there a way to bypass this setting, because I know it works when the setting is not set to headphones. Also, if it is not possible, is there a way to alert the user to change this setting? I have a iPod touch 1G to test with, just incase. Wondering, HiGuy (CouleeApps)

  • touches event handler for UIImageView

    - by madmik3
I am just getting stated with iPhone development and can't seem to find the answer I am looking for what I want to do. It seems like I should be able to programmatically create a UIImageView and then set up an event handler for it's touch functions. in c# i would have something that looks like Button b = new Button(); b.Click+= my handler code right now I have this CGRect myImageRect = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 141.0f, 151.0f); UIImageView *myImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:myImageRect]; myImage.userInteractionEnabled = YES; [myImage setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"myImage.png"]]; myImage.opaque = YES; // explicitly opaque for performance [self.view addSubview:myImage]; [myImage release]; What do I need to do to override the touch events? thanks

  • How do I detect whether a browser supports mouseover events?

    - by Damovisa
Let's assume I have a web page which has some onmouseover javascript behaviour to drop down a menu (or something similar) Obviously, this isn't going to work on a touch device like the iPad or smartphones. How can I detect whether the browser supports hover events like onmouseover or onmouseout and the :hover pseudotag in CSS? Note: I know that if I'm concerned about this I should write it a different way, but I'm curious as to whether detection can be done. Edit: When I say, "supports hover events", I really mean, "does the browser have a meaningful representation of hover events". If the hardware supports it but the software doesn't (or vice versa), there's no meaningful representation. With the exception of some upcoming tech, I don't think any touch devices have a meaningful representation of a hover event.

  • UISwitch text not showing on device

    - by iFloh
Hi, I have a screen with several UISwitch controls. On my iPhone simulator this screen works correctly and The Switch text shows as On/Off. Different on my testing device (iPod Touch). Here the text seems to get lost and I only get "1" (instead of "On") and "0" (instead of "Off"). I don't know where the iPod Touch is different and why it's not showing correctly. Anyone had a similar experience? Is this a bug? Cheers

  • iPhone SDK UIScrollView doesn't get touch events after moving it

    - by newbie
Hi! I'm subclassing UIScrollView and on the start I fill this ShowsScrollView with some items. After filling it, I setup frame and contentSize to this ShowsScrollView. Everything works fine for now, i get touches events, scrolling is working.. But after rotation to landscape, I change x and y coordinates of ShowsScrollView frame, to move it from bottom to top right corner. Then I resize it (change width and height of ShowsScrollView frame) and reorder items in this scroll. At the end I setup new contentSize. Now i get touches event only on first 1/4 of scrollview, scrolling also work only on 1/4 of scrollview, but scroll all items in scrollview. After all actions I write a log: NSLog(@"ViewController: setLandscape finished: size: %f, %f content: %f,%f",scrollView.frame.size.width,scrollView.frame.size.height, scrollView.contentSize.width, scrollView.contentSize.height ); Values are correct: ViewController: setLandscape finished: size: 390.000000, 723.000000 content: 390.000000,950.000000 On rotating back to portrait, I move and resize all thing back and everything works fine.. Please help!
