  • How to Access a Button present inside a Custom Control, from the implementing page?

    - by Subhen
    Hi, I have my generic.xaml containing the following code: <ControlTemplate TargetType="local:customVideoControl"> <Grid> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="600"/> <RowDefinition Height="200"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="200"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="200"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="200"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <MediaElement x:Name="customMediaPlayer" Source="{TemplateBinding CustomMediaSource}" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Height="{TemplateBinding Height}" Width="{TemplateBinding Width}" Grid.Row="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="3" /> <ToggleButton x:Name="playPauseBtn" Height="50" Width="50" Content="Pause" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0"/> <Button x:Name="prevBtn" Height="50" Width="50" Content="Prev" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1"/> <Button x:Name="nextBtn" Height="50" Width="50" Content="Next" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="2"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> Now on applyTemplate , I am accessing the controls like below: public override void OnApplyTemplate() { base.OnApplyTemplate(); ToggleButton playPauseBtn = GetTemplateChild("playPauseBtn") as ToggleButton; Button prevBtn= GetTemplateChild("prevBtn") as Button; Button nextBtn = GetTemplateChild("nextBtn") as Button; MediaElement customMediaPlayer = GetTemplateChild("customMediaPlayer") as MediaElement; playPauseBtn.Checked += (obj, Args) => { customMediaPlayer.Pause(); playPauseBtn.Content = "Play"; }; playPauseBtn.Unchecked += (obj, Args) => { customMediaPlayer.Play(); playPauseBtn.Content = "Pause"; }; nextBtn.Click += (obj, Args) => { customMediaPlayer.Source=new Uri(CustomMediaSource.ToString(),UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute); }; prevBtn.Click += (obj, Args) => { customMediaPlayer.Source = new Uri(CustomMediaSource.ToString(), UriKind.RelativeOrAbsolute); }; } Now I want acccess the nextBtn, in the page where I am implementing like CustomVideoControl myVControl=new CustomVideoControl(); This will create the instance of the control, but I want to do something on the click of next and previous button, thta is present inside the CustomVideoControl in generic.xaml. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Subhen

  • Command prompt cannot find PATH variable

    - by davidXYZ
Sometimes, my command prompt cannot find the PATH variable. I have this occasional problem at work where when I open command-prompt and run commands like ipconfig or subst, I get an error saying something like 'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command. When I try this echo %path%, it prints out %path% instead of the PATH value. If I look at my Environment Variables window, the PATH is defined right there but I don't know why CMD can't find it. At this point, I understand why the other commands were not being recognized since their paths are in PATH variable. However, I cannot understand why the PATH variable is not being found. If I restart the computer, everything is back to normal. In a few days, I might have the same experience again. I tried using this answer. It suggested changing a registry value but mine already had the value that was suggested yet it wasn't working. (The restart step at the end would have solved it as usual but that's not the point.) Any suggestions regarding why the PATH variable may become invisible every now and then and how I can prevent it from happening again?

  • Escaping %’s in file-/folder-names at the command-line

    - by Synetech
Does anybody of a way to access files and directories that have a % in their name (which is valid) from the command-line? Specifically, if there are two %’s and the text between them happens to correspond to an environment variable. For example, if there is a file called C:\blah\%temp%.txt or a folder called C:\Program Files\%temp%\, none of the following will work because the variable gets expanded: > dir "c:\blah\%temp%.txt" > dir "c:\blah\^%temp^%.txt" > dir "c:\blah\%%temp%%.txt" > dir "c:\blah\\%temp\%.txt" > dir "c:\program files\%temp%" > dir "c:\program files\^%temp^%" > dir "c:\program files\%%temp%%" > dir "c:\program files\\%temp\%" Using wildcards will work, but does not uniquely select the file/folder and may include others: > dir "c:\blah\?temp?.txt"        (also shows ztempz.temp, 1tempa.txt, etc.) > dir "c:\program files\?temp?"   (likewise) (This is frustrating because every now and then—usually when Explorer is restarted for whatever reason—the environment variables stop expanding and some places where they are used end up creating files or directories with the environment variable in it. For example, because I configured Chromium to store its cache in a subdirectory of %temp%, if the variable expands, it is fine, but when it doesn’t, Chromium creates a directory called %temp% under its own directory and stores the cache—which can get large—there. I want to add a line to my temp-/junk-file cleaning script to automatically delete that folder if it exists, but I cannot figure out how to access it from the command-line without resorting to wildcards.)

  • Windows Batch Script to Replace Environment Variables in a File

    - by skb
Hi. I want to write a batch file that will take the contents of a file, and replace any environment variable references inside the file with the actual environment variable values. Is this possible? Basically, if a file had this: %PROGRAM FILES%\Microsoft SQL Server\ then I would want the file contents to become: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ after the batch script ran. This is just one example, but I want ALL environment variables to be expanded. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • What's the pythonic way of declaring variables?

    - by the_drow
Usually declaring variables on assignment is considered a best practice in VBScript or JavaScript , for example, although it is allowed. Why does Python force you to create the variable only when you use it? Since Python is case sensitive can't it cause bugs because you misspelled a variable's name? How would you avoid such a situation?

    - by DiogoNeves
Hi all, I'm working on a system that relies in $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] to get the user address and check it against a white list of addresses. Is this approach safe? Or is there a way of forcing values in superglobal variables? Thank you, Diogo

    - by cmrhema
Hi, I have a windows forms application, where I have declared some static variables. On the click of exit button, I have disposed of some datatable which i have declared static. Many a times the user instead of clicking the exit button, will just exit the windows application by clicking the X button on the left corner top. What should be done to ensure that even if the user clicks the X button, everything is disposed of properly. Thanks Regards Hema
