• Enabling Multiple Monitor Support from Terminal Services/Remote Desktop over Citrix

  Our Remote Desktop/Terminal Services solution where I work relies on Citrix for machines not connected via the VPN. We're using Citrix Xen server (I'm pretty sure) and I'm going to try to connect to a Windows 7 Host (my work computer) and I think the RDC client runs on a Win2003 host (exposed via Citrix). Is it possible to take advantage of Windows 7 multiple monitor support for RDC with this setup? Would I need to try getting my Citrix guys to have a different host machine for the RDC (Win2008, or Win7?)? I'm probably going to connect using the OS X Citrix client, but I'd be willing to BootCamp/Fusion up a Windows instance to work remotely, as well. I really want to be able to use multiple monitors remotely. It does "span" multiple montiors currently (I have a 3000x1024 desktop, for example) but I'd rather it be "true" multiple monitor instead of one giant desktop, if possible.

• Getting around the lack of GPT support with CentOS 5.4

  Here is my issue and I hoping that there is someone out there that has an answer so I don't end up stuck here at my co-location all day. Last night I came here and upgraded a server (Dell 2970) to have four 1TB Hard Drives in RAID 5 which leaves a 3TB block. I tried to partition this but keep getting an error that GPT is not supported so I found a site online telling me I need to run the dd command and right random data to /dev/sda. This is great (if it works) but taking forever. I have two more machines to upgrade today and not a chair in site. Does anyone have advice on how I can avoid this issue beforehand? • Browsers with good keyboard support

  What browsers have good keyboard support? That means you don't have to use the mouse so much. Or what is a good setup for browser + keyboard interaction. I know the basic keyboard shortcuts (tab switching, new tabs etc.) but I don't know a good way to switch between links and search areas - usually that means TAB, Shift-TAB one at a time. Is there maybe some plugin that'll add numbers to links and I could just do something like 12 to go to the link 12?

• nginx + php-fpm “504 Gateway Time-out” after compiling with curl support

  We recently switched to managing php with php-fpm. It was working great, but is now giving me issues. The most recent change was to install libcurl-devel and re-compile php (5.3.3) using --with-curl. Now I'm getting 504 timeouts with nginx and the pages won't load. HTML pages load fine, phpinfo() loads as well. Tried backing out the changes and re-compiling without curl support, but still not having any luck. Also tried adjusting request_terminate_timeout per some of the other posts here on SF without change. This is on a test machine that has no other clients hitting it. I also tried switching to unix socket instead of tcp--same result. What am I missing here? Am I barking up the wrong tree with curl?

  Hello, I wanted to ask if let's say that Microsoft has stopped supporting Windows Server 2003 now so there is no any security updates and I use that system for Domain Controller (Windows XP/7 Professional Clients) and File Server only + I'm using ESET NOD23 AntiVirus. Will my system be secure? I'm asking because I don't surf internet on that system nor I will install/open any programs/documents and that server is connected to router without any open ports. "On July 14, 2015, all Windows 2003 support, including security updates and security-related hotfixes, will be terminated."

• How do you disable SMB printing support?

  Hi, I'm running CentOS on a storage server that has to do file sharing for with Windows machines. SMB version is smbd version 3.5.5-68.fc13 I'm getting a lot of error messages in /var/log/messages regarding failed attempts to connect to a CUPS server. They look like this: Nov 30 18:49:34 big03 smbd[9927]: [2010/11/30 18:49:34.850620, 0] printing/print_cups.c:108(cups_connect) Nov 30 18:49:34 big03 smbd[9927]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused I understand that the issue is generated by the fact that SMB comes with printer sharing support, but I'm really not interested in that. I just want to disable the feature to get rid of the messages. Any idea how I can do that?

  I evaluated the SSL credentials of my server with qualsys ssl page ( https://www.ssllabs.com/ssldb/index.html ) and found the entry "SSL 2.0+ upgrade support" being marked as yes. I want to disable this sslv2 handshake too. I searched around and found http://forum.nginx.org/read.php?2,104032m, which points to creating a openssl.cnf file. Have a naive question here. After creating the file, does one need to re-key his certificate for this to work ? Are there any other steps to follow ? I use nginx 1.0.11 and openssl "OpenSSL 1.0.0e-fips 6 Sep 2011". I have set ssl_ciphers in nginx to SSLv3 TLSv1;

• Which web browser support running multiple sessions simultaneously?

  basically, I want to group my tabs by categories and then split them to different sessios(winows). For example, I can have one windows which contains all the tabs that are work related, and some other windows that are for news, everyday use, hobbies, entertainment, etc. So I can load these sessions/windows independently whenever I want. More importanly, I need the browser to be able to manage these sessions separately, for example, when I close one window(session), it should be able to autosave it without affecting any other sessions. I think this requirement is quite simple. But somehow, neither firefox(with session manager addon) nor opera support this. so which browser actually supports this?

• IIS Reverse Proxy support for multiple protocols

  I have a server 2012 machine running IIS. It's in my DMZ and I would like to use it to do reverse proxy for several services. I can get it to route traffic on port 80 to 2 separate internal servers running web apps but there are some issues when I try to forward SSH (not port 80/443) and then when I try to forward OWA (Micrsoft exchange's 'webmail' services) to the internal mail server I run in to issues with guides (like this: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/07/19/reverse-proxy-for-exchange-server-2013-using-iis-arr-part-1.aspx) when they say to have all traffic forwarded to the server farm created for OWA. My question for you all is this - given that there is no more Threat Management Gateway (only runs on server 2008) and ISA 2006 is also dead - is it possible to support multiple types of reverse proxies with different protocols (ftp, ssh, web, ssl-web) in IIS, or would it be better to install a different DMZ OS like a nginx server and use linux firewalls + nginx reverse proxy?   I'm looking to set-up a UPS on a Windows Small Business Berver 2k8 and I've noticed that there are some large price differences for similar capacity in-line UPSs. The most important point for me in UPS selection is that the server should have the ability to shut itself down before the UPS power runs out, so that if the server is unattended during the outage, it should minimize the risk of data loss. From some reading it appears that Windows Server 2008 should has the ability to natively recognise a UPS, which can then be managed through the battery settings on the server or via WMI. What I'm wondering if anyone know is, Is Windows 2008 servers UPS support specific to certain brands of UPS (eg, APC) or is it likely to work with any UPS which has a USB port, which I can connect to the server?

• Does aria2 support write small files in batch?

  I'm using aria2 to download 8 million jpg from flickr. Each image is about 100KB. I got a list of urls of these images in a txt file, the format is: http://farm2.staticflickr.com/1070/1151334893_5a8e7f77f4.jpg I'm wondering whether aria2 support writing small files in batch? Say write 100 image to disk when all of them are download in the memory, not just write every single file when the download is finished. Because I think writing in batch will better protect my hard disk. Or do you have other software or opensource code to recommend?

• Throwing TRIM support in Ubuntu guest at Win7-Virtualbox host

  I have VirtualBox 4.1.14 on Windows 7 as host, and Ubuntu server 11.10 as guest. System was installed at traditional HDD years ago (and upgraded later), but now it's at SSD as expanding drive. There is "AHCI" and "it's SSD" features enabled in SATA controller. Problem is, this expanding drive growth to it's almost max size (90% of it), but actually in VM only about 50% spent. Also, guest VM does not recognize /dev/sda as SSD, /sys/block/sda/queue/rotational says "1", /sys/block/sda/queue/discard_* all says "0". And, of course, I cannot run fstrim /, it says that operation not supported. Is there some trick to enable TRIM support in my guest system without reinstalling it?

• Linux live cd with Broadcom Wi-fi support

  I am looking for a live distro that has out of the box Broadcom wireless support. I am pretty happy with my Ubuntu installation and as long as I have an ethernet connection first time installed, I can install Broadcom drivers over internet. But being a little paranoid, I make my secure operations (banking etc.) with a live cd and zero hard disk access, so nothing is recorded. So far I plug ethernet to do such things with the live cd, but it would be nice if I can do same thing with wireless.

  Hello, I am wondering if I need to buy a switch which is managed (VLAN support) for my configuration, or will a cheaper unmanaged switch work? I have servers with two NICS each. The first NIC is public and the second NIC is private. The router will plug into the switch port 1 let's say (public). Then server 1 public plugs into port 2 on the switch, and sever 1 private plugs into port 3 on the switch. The public interface is: 192.168.X.X / 255.255.0.0 and the private interface is 10.0.X.X / 255.255.0.0. • Download resume support blocked by isp?

  Can ISP block resume support for downloads ? I'm using IDM (internet download manager) to download of the internet from resume supported websites, yet I am unable to resume downloads. I tried different computers with the same result. Turned off firewall, didn't have any effect i was able to download with no issues until a couple of days ago. Another thing i noticed is that before IDM used to try to connect to several connections to speed up my download, but now it can only connect to one connection. Also i tried to download using my vpn, and i was able to download and resume downloads with no problem.

  OK so I have a strongly-typed Customer "Details" view that takes a Customer object Model. I am using LINQ to SQL and every Customer can have multiple (parking) Spaces. This is a FK relationship in the database so my LINQ-generated Customer model has a "Spaces" collection. Great! Here is a code snippet from my CustomerRepository where I iterate through the Customer's parking spaces to delete all payments, spaces and then finally the customer: public void Delete(Customer customer) { foreach (Space s in customer.Spaces) db.Payments.DeleteAllOnSubmit(s.Payments); db.Spaces.DeleteAllOnSubmit(customer.Spaces); db.Customers.DeleteOnSubmit(customer); } Everything works as expected! Now in my "Details" view I want to populate a table with the Customer's Spaces: <% foreach (var s in Model.Spaces) { %> <tr> <td><%: s.ID %></td> <td><%: s.InstallDate %></td> <td><%: s.SpaceType %></td> <td><%: s.Meter %></td> </tr> <% } %> I get the following error: foreach statement cannot operate on variables of type 'System.Data.Linq.EntitySet' because 'System.Data.Linq.EntitySet' does not contain a public definition for 'GetEnumerator' Finally, if I add this bit of code to my Customer partial class and use the foreach in the view to iterate through ParkingSpaces everything works as expected: public IEnumerable<Space> ParkingSpaces { get { return Spaces.AsEnumerable(); } } The problem here is that I don't want to repeat myself. I was also thinking that I could use a ViewModel to pass a Spaces collection to the View, however LINQ already infers and creates the Spaces property on the Customer model so I think it would be cleanest to just use that. I am missing something simple or am I approaching this incorrectly? Thanks!

  Hello, I am fairly new to MVC, but after playing with it (MVC 3/Razor), I am hooked. I have a few questions: 1) What is the best, or most widely used pattern to develop MVC apps in? Repository, DDD, UOW? 2) I am using the Entity Framework 4, so could some please explain to me or point me to a good source that will explain the Repository Pattern w/EF4? Doesn't EF4 take place as the business layer and the data access layer? Does the Repository Pattern even provide a benefit? 3) Also, one last question, could someone explain the whole relationship between the Controller, the Model and the View? I get the basics, but maybe a little more in depth of the correct way to use it. View Models - Say I have a view that displays customer info, and one that edits it, should I have a view model and an edit model, or can the be passed around? 4) Examples??   Hmm, the title was harder to formulate than I thought. Basically, I've got these simple classes mapped to tables, using SQLAlchemy.   I am trying to create a self join table that represents a list of customers who can refer each other (perhaps to a product or a program). I am trying to limit my model to just one class, "Customer". However, I keep getting an empty array when accessing referrals: @customer.referrals ... returns []. I ran binding.pry to see what SQL was being run, given a customer who has a "referer" and should have several referrals. This is the SQL being executed. • Windows 7 pro remote desktop true multi monitor support patch or hack

  After hours of research the closest i came to any patch that could fix this was a concurrent sessions patch which is not what i want. I have two machines both windows 7 professional. Its not an option to upgrade either to ultimate as the computer being remoted is in another state at our corp office. I need Dual monitor support and would have used the multimon i:1 edit thing however the other tower is not Win 7 ultimate. I have read over and over how it is not supported except with ultimate and enterprise and 2008 server. What have they put into windows 7 ultimate that is not in Win 7 pro and how can i get it or patch Win 7 pro to give it the same functionality. I would have paid for a software patch had i been able to find it anywhere. Summary: I am looking for the ability to remote to a Win 7 pro computer with another Win 7 computer while being able to use Dual monitors.
