  • Does collections type conversion util methods already exist in any API?

    - by Delta
interface TypeConverter<T, E> { T convert(E e); } class CollectionUtil() { public static <E> List<T> convertToList(List<E> fromList, TypeConverter<T, E> conv) { { if(fromList== null) return null; List<T> newList = new ArrayList<T>(fromList.size()) for(E e : fromList) { newList.add(conv.convert(e)); } return newList; } } Above code explains converting from List of String to List of Integer by implementing TypeConverter interface for String, Integer. Are there already any collections conversion utility methods exists in any API like list to set and so on?

  • Oracle (Old?) Joins - A tool for conversion?

    - by Grasper
I have been porting oracle selects, and I have been running across a lot of queries like so: SELECT e.last_name, d.department_name FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id(+) = d.department_id; ...and: SELECT last_name, d.department_id FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id(+); Are there any guides/tutorials for converting all of the variants of the (+) syntax? What is that syntax even called (so I can scour google)? Even better.. Is there a tool that will do this conversion for me? When was this standard phased out? Any info is appreciated.

  • possibility to do type/data conversion of data returned by ria services?

    - by reinier
My service returns an byte array, which I have to convert to an 'animated gif' (using imagetools since silverlight doesn't support it yet) I was wondering, is it possible to insert some code at the client, where I can do the conversion before the actual object is returned to whatever it is binded against? On the server side, the queries can be customized before it is sent over the wire. I'm asking for the exact opposite, can I do some on the fly conversions the moment they get of the wire and before they are returned to the controls. If I'm overthinking this and there is a smarter/better/easier way to do it, I'm all for such an answer as well

  • Proper way to handle issue when porting 32 to 64 bit. Conversion from DT1 to DT2 of greater size

    - by grobartn
So I am trying to port 32 bit to 64 bit. I have turned on the VS2008 flag for detecting problems with 64 bit. I am trying following: char * pList = (char *)uiTmp); warning C4312: 'type cast' : conversion from 'unsigned int' to 'char *' of greater size Disregard the code itself. This is also true for any pointer, because 64 bit pointer is greater than 32 bit unsigned int or int for that purpose. Given that you have to cast smaller type to greater how would you go about doing it so it correctly on both 32/64 bit systems

  • How to track conversion rate (clicks to sales) from an internal advertising system?

    - by Ed Woodcock
I am currently writing an interal advertising system for a company client's website, where the adverts will only be seen by internal users, and all transactions take place internally to the site (i.e. the adverts are for member-only content available on the site). Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best way to track the conversion rate of these adverts (i.e. views:clicks:sales)? EDIT I'm not looking for a 'Why don't you use google analystics'-type answer, I'm looking into possible architecture outlines, i.e. a 'why don't use store a guid in a cache temporarily and see if it ties to the advert' kind of answer. /EDIT In a previous job I did something based on an internal cache, which simply did view:click tracking, however the addition of the sales rate makes this task more complex, especially if we take into account the idea that someone may click through to an advert and not purchase immediately. Cheers, Ed (N.B. I'm leaving this purposely vague in order to (hopefully) get some answers that provide ideas I've yet to have thought of by coming at the problem from a different angle)

  • How do I erase printed characters in a console application(Linux)?

    - by Binny V A
Hi all, I am creating a small console app that needs a progress bar. Something like... Conversion: 175/348 Seconds |========== | 50% My question is, how do you erase characters already printed to the console? When I reach the 51st percentage, I have to erase this line from the console and insert a new line. In my current solution, this is what happens... Conversion: 175/348 Seconds |========== | 50% Conversion: 179/348 Seconds |========== | 52% Conversion: 183/348 Seconds |========== | 54% Conversion: 187/348 Seconds |=========== | 56% Code I use is... print "Conversion: $converted_seconds/$total_time Seconds $progress_bar $converted_percentage%\n"; I am doing this in Linux using PHP(only I will use the app - so please excuse the language choice). So, the solution should work on the Linux platform - but if you have a solution that's cross platform, that would be preferable.

  • How to get rid of `deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’` warnings in GCC?

    - by Josh Matthews
So I'm working on an exceedingly large codebase, and recently upgraded to gcc 4.3, which now triggers this warning: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’ Obviously, the correct way to fix this is to find every declaration like char *s = "constant string"; or function call like void foo(char *s); foo("constant string"); and make them const char pointers. However, that would mean touching 564 files, minimum, which is not a task I wish to perform at this point in time. The problem right now is that I'm running with -werror, so I need some way to stifle these warnings. How can I do that?

Hi I been following this tutorial on how to do a linq to sql batch insert. http://www.codeproject.com/KB/linq/BulkOperations_LinqToSQL.aspx However I have a datetime field in my database and I keep getting this error. • Convert YouTube Videos to MP3 with YouTube Downloader

    - by DigitalGeekery
Are you looking for a way to take the music videos you watch on YouTube and convert them to MP3? Today we take a look at an easy way to convert those YouTube videos to MP3 for free with YouTube Downloader. The YouTube Downloader functions in two steps. First, it downloads the video from YouTube in MP4 format, and then allows you to convert that MP4 file to MP3. Note: It also supports conversion conversion to some other formats such as AVI video, MOV, iPhone, PSP, 3GP, and WMV.   Installation and usage Download and Install YouTube Downloader. (See download link below) Open the YouTube Downloader by clicking on the desktop icon. Find a YouTube video you’d like to convert to MP3 and copy the URL. Paste the URL into the “Enter video URL” text box in YouTube Downloader. When you hover your mouse over the text box, the text box will auto-fill with the URL from your clipboard. Select the “Download video from YouTube” radio button and click “Ok.” Choose a folder to location to download your YouTube video and click “Save.” The video is downloaded in MP4 format. Now wait while the video is downloaded to your hard drive.   Select the “Convert video (previously downloaded) from file” radio button. Click the (…) button to the right of the “Select video file” text box to browse for and select the MP4 file you just downloaded. Then select “MPEG Audio Layer (MP3) from the “Convert to” drop down list. Select “OK” to begin the conversion. Choose the conversion quality by moving the slider to the right or left. The options are: Low (96kbps bite rate), Medium (128kbps bit rate), Optimal (192kbps bit rate), and High 256kbps bit rate). Here you can select the output volume as well. Click “OK” when finished. If there is a portion of the beginning or end of the video that you wish to cut out of the MP3, select the “Cut video” check box and choose a Start and End time. Click “OK” when finished. Note: The start and end time represent the audio portion of the MP3 you wish to keep. All portions before and after these times will be cut.   The conversion process will begin and should only take a few moments. Times will vary depending on the size of the video you’re converting. Conversion was successful! The MP3 you converted will be in the same directory you downloaded the video to. Now you’re ready to listen to your MP3 or import it to your Zune, iTunes, or music library. You may also want to delete the MP4 files after the conversion if you will no longer need them. Conclusion YouTube Downloader features a very simple interface that’s user friendly and easy to use. It comes in handy when you watch videos that look horrible, but the sound quality is good. Or if you just need to hear the audio of something posted and don’t need the video. It also allows you to download from Google Video, MySpace, and others. • fmod getWaveData() export to WAVE file help (C++)

    - by eddietree
    I am trying to export the current sound that is being played by the FMOD::System into a WAVE file by calling getWaveData(). I have the header of the wave file correct, and currently trying to write to the wave file each frame like so: const unsigned int samplesPerSec = 48000; const unsigned int fps = 60; const int numSamples = samplesPerSec / fps; float data[2][numSamples]; short conversion[numSamples*2]; m_fmodsys->getWaveData( &data[0][0], numSamples, 0 ); // left channel m_fmodsys->getWaveData( &data[1][0], numSamples, 1 ); // right channel int littleEndian = IsLittleEndian(); for ( int i = 0; i < numSamples; ++i ) { // left channel float coeff_left = data[0][i]; short val_left = (short)(coeff_left * 0x7FFF); // right channel float coeff_right = data[1][i]; short val_right = (short)(coeff_right * 0x7FFF); // handle endianness if ( !littleEndian ) { val_left = ((val_left & 0xff) << 8) | (val_left >> 8); val_right = ((val_right & 0xff) << 8) | (val_right >> 8); } conversion[i*2+0] = val_left; conversion[i*2+1] = val_right; } fwrite((void*)&conversion[0], sizeof(conversion[0]), numSamples*2, m_fh); m_dataLength += sizeof(conversion); Currently, the timing of the sound is correct, but the sample seems clipped way harshly. More specifically, I am outputting four beats in time. When I playback the wave-file, the beats timing is correct but it just sounds way fuzzy and clipped. Am I doing something wrong with my calculation? I am exporting in 16-bits, two channels. Thanks in advance! :) Reference (WAVE file format): http://www.sonicspot.com/guide/wavefiles.html

  • How to rescue from an SD (SDHC) card that I can't reformat (possible hardware failure)

    - by sbwoodside
I have a transcend 16GB SDHC card and a lot of photos on it that I'd like to recover. When I plug it into the SD card reader, it takes a while for the Mac to even recognize that there's a disk present, and it shows up as 1.07GB with geometry 520/64/63 (according to fdisk). First I tried file recovery: PhotoRec: no files are found (the images are in CR2 format and I'm using testdisk-6.14-WIP which claims to recognize that format under TIF) dd / ddrescue: they create a 1.07GB image, same problem as above TestDisk: doesn't find any partitions to recover I found a source saying that the correct geometry for this type of SD Card is Heads 255, Sectors/Track 63, Cylinders 1953, so I tried manually setting that geometry in PhotoRec/TestDisk. No improvement. Next I tried formatting the disk with fdisk. After writing and quitting, I ran fdisk again and it reported that the new format hadn't been saved on the disk. I also tried resetting the format/partitions with TestDisk and that failed also. The fdisk log is below. I don't really care about the card, I've already ordered a new SanDisk card. But I'd like to get the data off. Maybe, is there any way to force dd or some other tool to create an image of the disk based on the original geometry and not on what the card "thinks" its geometry is? Or am I missing something?

  • AAC 256kbit to MP3 320kbit conversion. I know it's lossy, but how?

    - by Fabian Zeindl
Has anyone ever transcoded music from a high-quality aac to an mp3 (or vice-versa). The internet is full of people who say this should never be done, but apart from the theoretical standpoint that you can only lose information, does it matter in practise? is the difference perceivable, except on studio-equipment? does the re-encoding actually lose much information? If, p.e., high frequences are chopped away by the initial compression, those frequencies aren't there anymore, so this part of the compression-algorithm won't touch the data during the second compression. Am i wrong?

  • VNC server failed to start CentOS

    - by Shaun
I followed a tutorial on how to install and get VNCserver to run on CentOS 6 (since freenx isnt supported yet) and I keep getting Starting VNC server: 1:user [FAILED] How do I figure out whats going on here? Im new to Linux/CentOS and im trying to get RDP going so I can step away from SSH as much as possible (you know us Windows users love our pretty GUI's). • OpenGL CPU vs. GPU

    - by Nitrex88
So I've always been under the impression that doing work on the GPU is always faster than on the CPU. Because of this, in OpenGL, I usually try to do intensive tasks in shaders so they get the speed boost from the GPU. However, now I'm starting to realize that some things simply work better on the CPU and actually perform worse on the GPU (particularly when a geometry shader is involved). For example, in a recent project I did involving procedurally generated terrain, I tried passing a grid of single triangles into a geometry shader, and tesselated each of these triangles into quads with 400 vertices whose height was determined by a noise function. This worked fine, and looked great, but easily maxed out the GPU with only 25 base triangles and caused a very slow framerate. I then discovered that tesselating on the CPU instead, and setting the height (using noise function) in the vertex shader was actually faster! This prompted me to question the benefits of using the GPU as much as possible... So, I was wondering if someone could describe the general pros and cons of using the GPU vs CPU for intensive graphics tasks. I know this mainly comes down to what your trying to achieve, so if necessary, use the above scenario to discuss why the "CPU + vertex shader" was actually faster than doing everything in the geometry shader on the GPU. It's possible my hardware (newest macbook pro) isn't optomized well for the geometry shader (thus causing the slow framerate). Also, I read that the vertex shader is very good with parallelism, and would love a quick explanation of how this may have played a role in speeding up my procedural terrain. Any info/advice about CPU/GPU/shaders would be awesome!

  • XNA hlsl tex2D() only reads 3 channels from normal maps and specular maps

    - by cubrman
Our engine uses deferred rendering and at the main draw phase gathers plenty of data from the objects it draws. In order to save on tex2D calls, we packed our objects' specular maps with all sorts of data, so three out of four channels are already taken. To make it clear: I am talking about the assets that come with the models and are stored in their material's Specular Level channel, not about the RenderTarget. So now I need another information to be stored in the alpha channel, but I cannot make the shader to read it properly! Nomatter what I write into alpha it ends up being 1 (255)! I tried: saving the textures in PNG/TGA formats. turning off pre-computed alpha in model's properties. Out of every texture available to me (we use Diffuse map, Normal Map and Specular Map) I was only able to read alpha successfully from the Diffuse Map! Here is how I add specular and normal maps to my model's material in the content processor: if (geometry.Material.Textures.ContainsKey(normalMapKey)) { ExternalReference<TextureContent> texRef = geometry.Material.Textures[normalMapKey]; geometry.Material.Textures.Remove("NormalMap"); geometry.Material.Textures.Add("NormalMap", texRef); } ... foreach (KeyValuePair<String, ExternalReference<TextureContent>> texture in material.Textures) { if ((texture.Key == "Texture") || (texture.Key == "NormalMap") || (texture.Key == "SpecularMap")) mat.Textures.Add(texture.Key, texture.Value); } In the shader I obviously use: float4 data = tex2D(specularMapSampler, TexCoords); so data.a is always 1 in my case, could you suggest a reason?

    I have a DrawingBrush as a resource like this: <DrawingBrush x:Key="Calendar" Stretch="Uniform"> <DrawingBrush.Drawing> <DrawingGroup> <DrawingGroup.Children> <GeometryDrawing Geometry="F1 M 28.0917,2.13333C 42.4005,2.13333 54,13.7329 54,28.0417C 54,42.3504 42.4004,53.95 28.0917,53.95C 13.7829,53.95 2.18334,42.3504 2.18334,28.0417C 2.18334,13.7329 13.7829,2.13333 28.0917,2.13333 Z "> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Thickness="4" LineJoin="Round" Brush="#FF000000"/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Geometry="F1 M 16.9667,16.7083L 39.7167,16.7083L 39.7167,41.625L 16.9667,41.625L 16.9667,16.7083 Z "> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Thickness="2.66667" StartLineCap="Square" EndLineCap="Square" MiterLimit="2.75" Brush="#FF000000"/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Brush="#FF000000" Geometry="F1 M 15.6333,15.9583L 40.7167,15.9583L 40.7167,25.2917L 15.6333,25.2917L 15.6333,15.9583 Z "/> <GeometryDrawing Brush="#FFFFFFFF" Geometry="F1 M 18.2167,11.9583L 22.9667,11.9583L 22.9667,20.875L 18.2167,20.875L 18.2167,11.9583 Z "> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Thickness="1.33333" StartLineCap="Square" EndLineCap="Square" MiterLimit="2.75" Brush="#FF000000"/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Brush="#FFFFFFFF" Geometry="F1 M 33.7167,11.925L 38.4667,11.925L 38.4667,20.8417L 33.7167,20.8417L 33.7167,11.925 Z "> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Thickness="1.33333" StartLineCap="Square" EndLineCap="Square" MiterLimit="2.75" Brush="#FF000000"/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Brush="#FF000000" Geometry="F1 M 28.0154,36.2658L 28.0154,37.4894L 21.6254,37.4894C 21.6169,37.1934 21.6615,36.908 21.7592,36.6333C 21.915,36.1815 22.165,35.7425 22.5091,35.3162C 22.8533,34.8899 23.3617,34.4091 24.0344,33.8738C 25.0782,32.983 25.776,32.295 26.1279,31.81C 26.4799,31.3249 26.6558,30.8551 26.6558,30.4005C 26.6558,29.9473 26.4894,29.5653 26.1566,29.2544C 25.8238,28.9435 25.3904,28.7881 24.8565,28.7881C 24.2915,28.7881 23.8393,28.9442 23.5001,29.2565C 23.161,29.5688 22.9892,30.0018 22.985,30.5556L 21.7614,30.4196C 21.8449,29.5345 22.1576,28.86 22.6993,28.3962C 23.241,27.9323 23.9686,27.7004 24.882,27.7004C 25.8054,27.7004 26.5358,27.9596 27.0733,28.4779C 27.6107,28.9963 27.8795,29.6385 27.8795,30.4047C 27.8795,30.7942 27.8065,31.1769 27.6607,31.5529C 27.5148,31.9289 27.2726,32.3251 26.9341,32.7415C 26.5957,33.1579 26.0115,33.7215 25.1816,34.4325C 24.4692,35.0216 24.0008,35.4214 23.7763,35.6317C 23.5518,35.842 23.3667,36.0533 23.2208,36.2658L 28.0154,36.2658 Z "/> <GeometryDrawing Brush="#FF000000" Geometry="F1 M 33.3178,37.4894L 33.3178,35.1781L 28.9671,35.1781L 28.9671,33.9545L 33.5897,27.8364L 34.5414,27.8364L 34.5414,33.9545L 35.765,33.9545L 35.765,35.1781L 34.5414,35.1781L 34.5414,37.4894L 33.3178,37.4894 Z M 33.3178,33.9545L 33.3178,30.1774L 30.4648,33.9545L 33.3178,33.9545 Z "/> </DrawingGroup.Children> </DrawingGroup> </DrawingBrush.Drawing> </DrawingBrush> And I can use it like this: <Rectangle Fill="{DynamicResource Calender}" /> Now, my question is: how can I create an attached-property to change all brushes on my resource? e.g. I be able to create this: <Rectangle Fill="{DynamicResource Calendar}" attached:IconHelper.Foreground="Blue" /> on my Rectangle and in my resource, I can get: <DrawingBrush x:Key="Calendar" Stretch="Uniform"> <DrawingBrush.Drawing> <DrawingGroup> <DrawingGroup.Children> <GeometryDrawing Geometry="blah blah"> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Brush={attached:ReadItFromAboveRectangle}/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> </GeometryDrawing> <GeometryDrawing Geometry="blah blah"> <GeometryDrawing.Pen> <Pen Brush={attached:ReadItFromAboveRectangle}/> </GeometryDrawing.Pen> <!-- etc... --> Is there any way to read an attached-property on Rectangle in Calendar resource? Or is there any other way to do this? Thanks in advance.

  • Stuck in a loop

    - by Luke
while (true) { //read in the file StreamReader convert = new StreamReader("../../convert.txt"); //define variables string line = convert.ReadLine(); double conversion; int numberIn; double conversionFactor; //ask for the conversion information Console.WriteLine("Enter the conversion in the form (Amount, Convert from, Convert to)"); String inputMeasurement = Console.ReadLine(); string[] inputMeasurementArray = inputMeasurement.Split(','); //loop through the lines looking for a match while (line != null) { string[] fileMeasurementArray = line.Split(','); if (fileMeasurementArray[0] == inputMeasurementArray[1]) { if (fileMeasurementArray[1] == inputMeasurementArray[2]) { Console.WriteLine("The conversion factor for {0} to {1} is {2}", inputMeasurementArray[1], inputMeasurementArray[2], fileMeasurementArray[2]); //convert to int numberIn = Convert.ToInt32(inputMeasurementArray[0]); conversionFactor = Convert.ToDouble(fileMeasurementArray[2]); conversion = (numberIn * conversionFactor); Console.WriteLine("{0} {1} is {2} {3} \n", inputMeasurementArray[0], inputMeasurementArray[1], conversion, inputMeasurementArray[2]); break; } } else { Console.WriteLine("Please enter two valid conversion types \n"); break; } line = convert.ReadLine(); } } The file consists of the following: ounce,gram,28.0 pound,ounce,16.0 pound,kilogram,0.454 pint,litre,0.568 inch,centimetre,2.5 mile,inch,63360.0 The user will input something like 6,ounce,gram The idea is that it finds the correct line by checking if the first and second words in the file are the same as the second and third the user enters. The problem is that if it checks the first line and it fails the if statement, if goes through to the else statement and stops. I am trying to find a way where it will stop after the it finds the correct line but not until. If someone types in a value that isn't in the file, then it should show an error.

  • Advice: Python Framework Server/Worker Queue management (not Website)

    - by Muppet Geoff
I am looking for some advice/opinions of which Python Framework to use in an implementation of multiple 'Worker' PCs co-ordinated from a central Queue Manager. For completeness, the 'Worker' PCs will be running Audio Conversion routines (which I do not need advice on, and have standalone code that works). The Audio conversion takes a long time, and I need to co-ordinate an arbitrary number of the 'Workers' from a central location, handing them conversion tasks (such as where to get the source files, or where to ask for the job configuration) with them reporting back some additional info, such as the runtime of the converted audio etc. At present, I have a script that makes a webservice call to get the 'configuration' for a conversion task, based on source files located on the worker already (we manually copy the source files to the worker, and that triggers a conversion routine). I want to change this, so that we can distribute conversion tasks ("Oy you, process this: xxx") based on availability, and in an ideal world, based on pending tasks too. There is a chance that Workers can go offline mid-conversion (but this is not likely). All the workers are Windows based, the co-ordinator can be WIndows or Linux. I have (in my initial searches) come across the following - and I know that some are cross-dependent: Celery (with RabbitMQ) Twisted Django Using a framework, rather than home-brewing, seems to make more sense to me right now. I have a limited timeframe in which to develop this functional extension. An additional consideration would be using a Framework that is compatible with PyQT/PySide so that I can write a simple UI to display Queue status etc. I appreciate that the specifics above are a little vague, and I hope that someone can offer me a pointer or two. Again: I am looking for general advice on which Python framework to investigate further, for developing a Server/Worker 'Queue management' solution, for non-web activities (this is why DJango didn't seem the right fit).

  • 3D RTS pathfinding

    - by xcrypt
I understand the A* algorithm, but I have some trouble doing it in 3D to suit the needs of my RTS Basically, in the game I'm making, there will be agents with different sizes of OBB collision boxes. I can use steering behaviours for avoiding other agents, so I don't need complete dynamic pathfinding. However, there is a problem because different agents have different collision geometry, and structures can be placed in almost any place. This means that there might be a gap between two structures where some agents can go through and some can't. A solution I have found to this problem is to do a sweep of the collision geometry of the agent from start node of the edge the pf algorithm is currently testing, to the end node of that edge. But this is probably a bit overkill since every edge the algorithm tests would also have to create and test with a collision geometry sweep. What are some reasonable approaches to this problem? I should mention that I'd prefer not to use navmeshes, I prefer waypoints because my entire system is based on it atm.

  • How would the conversion of a custom CMS using a text-file-based database to Drupal be tackled?

    - by James Morris
Just today I've started using Drupal for a site I'm designing/developing. For my own site http://jwm-art.net I wrote a user-unfriendly CMS in PHP. My brief experience with Drupal is making me want to convert from the CMS I wrote. A CMS whose sole method (other than comments) of automatically publishing content is by logging in via SSH and using NANO to create a plain text file in a format like so*: head<<END_HEAD title = Audio keywords= open, source, audio, sequencing, sampling, synthesis descr = Music, noise, and audio, created by James W. Morris. parent = home END_HEAD main<<END_MAIN text<<END_TEXT Digital music, noise, and audio made exclusively with @=xlink=http://www.linux-sound.org@:Linux Audio Software@_=@. END_TEXT image=gfb@--@;Accompanying image for penonpaper-c@right ilink=audio_2008 br= ilink=audio_2007 br= ilink=audio_2006 END_MAIN info=text<<END_TEXT I've been making PC based music since the early nineties - fortunately most of it only exists as tape recordings. END_TEXT ( http://jwm-art.net/dark.php?p=audio - There's just over 400 pages on there. ) *The jounal-entry form which takes some of the work out of it, has mysteriously broken. And it still required SSH access to copy the file to the main dat dir and to check I had actually remembered the format correctly and the code hadn't mis-formatted anything (which it always does). I don't want to drop all the old content (just some), but how much work would be involved in converting it, factoring into account I've been using Drupal for a day, have not written any PHP for a couple of years, and have zero knowledge of SQL? How might a team of developers tackle this? How do-able is it for one guy in his spare time?

  • ffmpeg 0.5 flv to wav conversion creates wav files that other programs won't open.

    - by superrebel
Hi, I am using the following command to convert FLV files to audio files to feed into julian, a speech to text program. cat ./jon2.flv | ffmpeg -i - -vn -acodec pcm_s16le -ar 16000 -ac 1 -f wav - | cat - > jon2.wav The cat's are there for debugging purposes as the final use will be a running program that will pipe FLV into ffmpeg's stdin and the stdout going to julian. The resulting wave files are identified by "file" as: jon3.wav: RIFF (little-endian) data, WAVE audio, Microsoft PCM, 16 bit, mono 16000 Hz VLC (based on ffmpeg) plays the file, but no other tools will open/see the data. They show empty wav files or won't open/play. For example Sound Booth from CS4. Has anyone else had similar problems? Julian requires wav files 16bit mono at 16000 Hz. Julian does seem to read the file, but doesn't seem to go through the entire file (may be unrelated). Thanks, -rr
