• Dropdownlist width in IE

  In IE, the dropdown-list takes the same width as the dropbox (i hope i am making sense) whereas in Firefox the dropdown-list's width varies according to the content. This basically means that i have to make sure that the dropbox has to be wide enough to display the longest selection possible. this makes my page look very ugly :( Is there any workaround for this problem? How can i uses CSS to set different widths for dropbox and the dropdownlist?

  So all I need is a simple function that sets it up (eating incoming PCM RATE (for example: rate near to 44100) It's channels (for example: 2) and -bits (for example: 16) and desirable 128 kb\s rate) and another one that takes PCM data and encodes it into pure MP3 frames. I know it looks like a silly homework task but I assure you - it is not. I hope it will be of help to all C++ developers starting with MP3s. So can anybody please help me with that?

  I've got a custom component that has children components dynamically added and removed to it depending on what button the user clicks. What I would like to do is trigger a transition effect that moves the child component onto the stage when it's added and then moves it off when it's removed. Does anyone have a good example on how to accomplish this? Edit: I figured it out and left my solution below. I hope it helps someone else!

  I don't have multiple threads or anything like that, and I thought select() was non-blocking, however, as I add more items to an array used as the IO object, and using select(), after about 1000~ items in the array (with some interaction on them).. the whole script exits with a deadlock / fatal error... However the way my application works at the moment is the take the from and to ip addresses as a String. Is there a way I can increment through all the ip addresses the user input from and to? I've seen recently an example of a ViewModel referencing a View, which seems wrong to me, as it would result in tighter coupling. Given that ViewModel is often described as an intermediary between the View and the Model, is there more to the ViewModel than a facade to domain objects? I hope I used the term "facade" correctly here.

  I'm trying extract the nth + 1 and nth + 3 columns from a file. This is what tried, which is a useful pseudo code: for i in {1..100} ; do awk -F "," " { printf \"%3d, %12.3f, %12.3f\\n\", \$1, \$($i+1), \$($i+3) } " All_Runs.csv > Run-$i.csv which, obviously doesn't work (but it seemed reasonable to hope). How can I do this?
