  I pretty sure I've seen this somewhere but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I have an HttpModule that can be used across multiple requests. In other words instead of creating a new instance of the Module on every request it only ever needs to create it once. Does this ring a bell to anyone? If so, what's the method for configuring to work this way?

• VSS keep resetting working folder a the root of the C: drive

  I have noticed several times (that is it does not happens all the time, but occurs regulary) that VSS has forgoten my working folder settings and re-set it to be a root of the C: drive. It is very annoying to find out that some of the files you have checked out and been working on are not in the same folder where you expect them to be (and it also pollutes the drive with a C:\SubProject1, C:\SubProject2 folders instead of keeping them all inside of C:\Work). Any recomendation to prevent VSS from doing this again and again. And yes, please, don't recomment switching to SVN, CVS, TFS etc - there are the rules I can't change.

  I have my greasemonkey script scanning every page i visit for a specific string. I would like to recordkeep the variations of the string in a sqlite db. I'll have another app process this db everyonce in a while. What i dont know is HOW do i store the data into the sqlite db? i was thinking i can launch an executable automatically if the string was found but i dont know how to do that through javascript. Another alternative i thought was have a socket listen on a certain port and have some js magic but i couldnt think of a silent way to send data like that.

  When editing cells in jqGrid, specifically using a select pull-down to edit a cell, how does one make the current selection the current choice for that cell? In my page I have a cell where edittype:'select' is set but when one clicks on that row the value for that cells automatically changes to the first entry that my AJAX call returns. Is there something within JQGrid that needs to be set or does the object I send to jqGrid have to be of a certain format to do so?

• Why does SQL Server keep throwing exceptions?

  I have my project in .NET that uses a database in SQL Server. I'm using Linq-to-SQL, sometimes when the project throws me an exception (Constraint) in a part of the project this same error keeps showing in other part of the project when I do another thing with the database. Like when I do an insertion and I had before an exception on delete the insertion throws me the delete exception, and it remains this way until I close and open again the project. My major problem is when this happen in my online project, this error in my project causes me problems in the project I'm testing online (I use the same database). I don't know if this exception is on the memory or something but its have been causing me a lot of headaches.

  I'm looking for a very simple algorithm for computing the polygon intersection/clipping. That is, given polygons P, Q, I wish to find polygon T which is contained in P and in Q, and I wish T to be maximal among all possible polygons. I don't mind the run time (I have a few very small polygons), I can also afford getting an approximation of the polygons' intersection (that is, a polygon with less points, but which is still contained in the polygons' intersection). But it is really important for me that the algorithm will be simple (cheaper testing) and preferably short (less code). edit: please note, I wish to obtain a polygon which represent the intersection. I don't need only a boolean answer to the question of whether the two polygons intersect.

• wmd editor, why does it keep showing html instead of just going straight to markup

  hi, im wondering how wmd is supposed to work, when i type in the textarea the text doesnt have html, but once the text is stored in db it turns to html. wmd also shows all this html when reloading the content? is it supposed to work like this? Do I have to sanitize the text before its put into the db? if so how? I thought wmd doesnt deal with html? except in code blocks. Also there are p tags being added Using the beneath html it gets added directly. • Efficient persistent storage for simple id to table of values map for java

  I need to store some data that follows the simple pattern of mapping an "id" to a full table (with multiple rows) of several columns (i.e. some integer values [u, v, w]). The size of one of these tables would be a couple of KB. Basically what I need is to store a persistent cache of some intermediary results. This could quite easily be implemented as simple sql, but there's a couple of problems, namely I need to compress the size of this structure on disk as much as possible. (because of amount of values I'm storing) Also, it's not transactional, I just need to write once and simply read the contents of the entire table, so a relational DB isn't actually a very good fit. I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions? For some reason I can't seem to come up with something decent atm. Especially something with an API in java would be nice.

• Simple javascript document.write isn't working...

  Here's the code in question I'm trying to create a simple application - each of the three men has a rel="x" attribute attached them. I'm using var regionId = $('img.selected-region').attr('rel'); to make the rel of the currently selected item the value of reginId. I want to test this out by performing a simple document.write(regionId) command in a div under the pictures of the men. However, it's not working. Have I put the var regionId definition in the right place in the script window? I'm completely new to javascript so the syntax is confusing to me - and help would be greatly appreciated.

I studied them some years ago, and to be honest, I don't want to reinvent the wheel, so I'm looking for a simple implementation in C of b+tree that I can just include in my project. I know of sqlite's, dbm's and tokyocabinet's ones but they're a little too "complicated" for my needs. Is there any (even pedagogical) work on this you can refer me to? • deploying a simple html website with eclipse EE & tomcat 7 & router for pc not in LAN

  Hello everyone and thanks for your time, first of all - I want to make a note - I can see the website from my own pc which is the only one connected to the (netgear dgn1000) router, and I can do so with several browsers on my pc, but - when I try and do a port forwarding so that I could access this simple html file (which in the way would use a simple servlet class) I can't seem to view it I have configured my router (both the "services" and the "firewall" sections), and I have also changed my LAN properties according to my ISP's explanation (via phone) : instead of choosing the "obtain an IP address automatically" I have chosen the "use the following IP address, with IP address of 10.0.0.1 (this was also set in the router's port forwarding), Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, default gateway by checking the same value as seen in the cmd when executing the command ipconfig /all after doing so I've changed the DNS to use the address (just the preferred and not the alternate one) given with the ipconfig /all and still - nothing :/ is it something in my network settings or in my deployment of the eclipse/tomcat ? any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

• keep open windows console after a python syntax error

  File associations on my machine (winxp home) are such that a python script is directly opened with the python interpreter. If I double click on a python script a console window runs and every thing is fine - as long as there is no syntax error in the script. In that case the console window opens up for a moment but it is closed immediately. Too fast to read the error message. Of course their would be the possibility to manually open a console window and to execute the script by typing python myscript.py but I am sure that there is a more convenient (i.e. "double click based") solution.

  I am writing a genetic algorithm that approximates an image with a polygon. While going through the different generations, I'd like to output the progress to a JFrame. However, it seems like the JFrame waits until the GA's while loop finishes to display something. I don't believe it's a problem like repainting, since it eventually does display everything once the while loop exits. I want to GUI to update dynamically even when the while loop is running. • iPhone SDK - keep data in modal view

  Hi all, I've got a modal view loaded the following way: ModalViewController *modalController = [[ModalViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ModalViewController" bundle:nil]; searchController.delegate = self; [self.navigationController presentModalViewController:modalController animated:YES]; [modalController release]; When the modal view appears, "viewDidLoad" is called. When I dismiss the modal view via [self.navigationController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; the method "viewDidUnload" ISN'T called, but the next time I let the modal view appear, "viewDidLoad" is called again. My problem now is that I'm creating an NSArray in the modal view's "viewDidLoad" - and as I'm fetching the data from the web, I would like to do it only once. But this way, it's fetched every time... Any hints how I could achieve that the data is only fetched once? I would really like to do it in the modal view and not in the parent and provide the array as parameter to the modal view... Thanks!

• Keep div:hover open when changing nested select box

  This is an IE-only problem. .toolTip becomes visible when it's parent element is :hovered over. Inside of .toolTip is a select box. When the user opens the select box to make a selection, the parent element is being "un-hovered", if you will. To put it another way, when I try to select something from the dropdown, the whole thing hides itself again. I'm sure it has something to do with the way IE interprets the stylesheet, but I don't know what or where. • Having to keep on restarting the Application Pool?

  One of our major websites (built on PHP, MSSQL, IIS7) has started to become unresponsive every few hours and I'm having to log on to the server and restart the application pool. The rest of the websites on the server are fine, so I figure it may be due to a code problem? Whilst I look over all the code, specifically the database connections, would anyone have any advice on how I could better track this down to what is actually causing it to become unresponsive?   I've worked on a number of Java web apps where persistence is via Hibernate, and we start off with some central class (e.g. an insurance application) without any time being spent considering how to break things up into manageable chunks. Over time as features are added we add more mappings (rates, clients, addresses, etc.) and then amount of time spent saving and loading an insurance object and everything it connects to grows. In particular you get close to a go-live date and performance testing with larger amounts of data in each table is starting to demonstrate that it's all too slow. Obviously there are a number of ways that we could attempt to partition things up, e.g. map only the client classes for the client CRUD screens, etc., which would have been better to get in place earlier rather than trying to work it in at the end of the dev cycle. I'm just wondering if there are recommendations about ways to handle/mitigate this.

  I am stuck between row vs colunms table design for storing some items but the decision is which table is easier to manage and if colunms then how many colunms are best to have? For example I have object meta data, ideally there are 45 pieces of information (after being normalized) on the same level that i need to store per object. So is 45 colunms in a heavry read/write table good? Can it work flawless in a real world situation of heavy concurrent read/writes?
