  • Windows xp media center, iTunes, Home sharing problem with app Remote and Apple tv2

    Hello everybody, greetings from Mexico, sorry about my english but here it goes: I recently bought and apple tv 2nd generation it works just fine, i can see you tube videos but i cant see my library. My pc is conected to the same wi-fi than my apple tv. I have the latest software. I have my firewall off. I turned off and on my router. Search for iphone, ipad remotes on, sharing my library on my local network on, in itunes. Ive checked that my id was the same. On top of that the Remote app doesnt seem to work either. Please help, im kinda loosing my mind over this

  • VLC Server Media root

    When I run vlc like: vlc -I http I open up users to browse my whole system directory structure. This is too much. For example at the page http://localhost:8080/vlm.html I can click Edit on the Input field, then click Browse. On the pop-up I can continue to click '..'. I want to open this server up so that I can access it remotely, but I do not want to expose my whole system directory structure. How can I restrict the browse functionality to a specific sub-tree?

  • Is there a way to add an MP3 player to my website so that iPhone & iPad users can use it.

    I have a website www.askvioletnow.com. I added a flash mp3 player that plays a sound clip when you go to the page. I know Flash doesn't work on the iPhone OS, but is there a way to get this type of mp3 player to work on an iPhone? I'm thinking maybe a javascript mp3 player. What I would ultimately want is to replace my flash mp3 player with a different mp3 player and have it so the player is available on Windows and Mac computers as well as iPhone devices.   • "Dictionary problem." Error with VMPlayer

    I'm pretty new to using vmware virtualization (been a virtualbox user) so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I recently got an external usb disk containing a vm for a client, downloaded vmplayer, set it up with "Open a Virtual Machine", ran it, easy as pie. After working with it a bit this morning, I shut the VM down and now trying to start it back up again I get this: I tried removing the vm from my library, now it happens whenever I try to add it back in. In the meantime, I can still access other virtual machines so it seems like the problem might be with the virtual disk. So two questions: This is obviously not a very helpful error message. Where can I go to get more information? My Application EventLog doesn't contain anything from VMWare. What steps can I take to fix the problem? Edit: A couple more pieces of information. I did not take any snapshots. I don't think VM Player even has that ability. I have a zip file of (what I assume) is the state of the VM when it was sent to me. I cannot unzip it as it is huge and simply requires more HD space than I have available but I did extract the vmx file and examine it. Other than the UUIDs and the fact that mine reads cleanShutdown = "FALSE" they are identical. The log contains the following lines Jun 23 10:11:18.080: vmx| SNAPSHOT: SnapshotConfigInfoRead: Unable to load dict from 'E:....\MachineName.vmsd'.   • Using a named pipe to simulate a serial port on a VMware virtual machine (linux host and client)

    Trying to write a python program to create a simulated data stream and feed it, through a named pipe, to a VMware virtual machine. The host is running Ubuntu 11.10 and VMware player 5.0.0. The Vm is running Ubuntu netbook 10.04.   • Windows based development environment: HyperV, VMWare, or VirtualBox on development machine?

    I am a software engineer with a little bit of an informal "support" functionality... I am trying to figure out what is the best possible approach to employing virtualization technologies into our development process. Since the code we develop is server-centric, testing it often requires a VM with specific software requirements. I used to use VM Ware player (free version) to run my VM's until both of my laptops started exhibiting issues with corrupted windows 7 services and dying hard drives. All leads pointed to VMWare, which by the way seems to be a solid product if you pay for the Workstation edition ($300). On a side note, I have always been a fan of the Windows Server product line. I think it makes for one of the best development environments out there - it is highly scalable, highly reliable, and very efficient. So to be fair I replaced the drives of the laptops and installed Windows Server 2008R2, VS2010 Ultimate SP1, SQL Server 2008R2, TFS Server 2010 and all other tools and API's needed do do my work properly. So now I am stuck with a bunch of VMWare VMs. I don't want to repeat of what happened before, and I certainly don't want to bog down my machine with an inefficient hypervisor or services that are not needed. Futhermore the VMDK hard-disk format used by VMWare is not compatible with the VHD format of Hyper V. It is my understanding that converting from one format to the other can only happen by Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine which I have downloaded from MSDN and ready to install. I guess the question at this point is: Does SCVM run as another service in Windows? Is it a memory hog? What is a better virtualization technology - Hyper-V or Virtual Box in terms of efficiency ease of use and most importantly - memory footprint? (Keep in mind the development environment already has a ton of services running such as TFS Server, SQL Server, IIS, etc...) How would you advise to proceed at this point so that the VMs are still used in the test process? Thanks Martin

  • Windows 7 doesn't start anymore

    I've experienced some BSOD on windows 7 RC, and some freezing when startup, but today was big surprise, it doesn't start anymore. I tried to start on safe mode and no results too, it shows the starting animation, then a blue screen for less than a second and turns off immediately. The only thing I remember did today is update flash player under Firefox, then chrome stopped working even after logging off, and once restarting, it doesn't start anymore. Anyone experienced the same issue? any hints? [EDIT 3] Solved : Windows 7 have a very smart repair strategy, it works automatically, and it tried every possible fix, what fixed my problem was the system restore to a previous date, all this happened automatically.   • Join Domain from VM

    I have two VMs running on VMWare Player. I use NAT adapter settings. The host machine for VMs is running on corporate network. First VM has Domain controller running and I can log in on that machine using domain credentials. I named domain wm.local When I run IP config on this machine: IP: 192.168.87.132 Def Gataway: 192.168.87.2 DNS server: 192.168.87.2 DHCP server: 192.168.87.254 Second VM cannot join domain. When I try it with domain WM I'm propmted for credentials. And I enter Administrator credentials and than it waits for some time and I get response: "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted" If i type wm.local as domain when trying to join it does not prompt me to login but just shows "An Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for the domain wm.local could not be contacted. And here it takes no time to get this error message. Ipconfig on this machine: IP: 192.168.87.134 Def Gataway: 192.168.87.2 DNS server: 192.168.87.2 DHCP server: 192.168.87.254 I can ping second VM from first one. And I disabled firewalls on both machines. Any ideas? Is there any manual for this?

I have set the MIME type on my server to be: cod application/vnd.rim.cod jad text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jar application/java-archive When I access the JAD file on my web-server through the BlackBerry Browser, I get the message Unsupported Media Type and then a prompt to download the JAD. How can I resolve this?

    Hi! Is it possible to get Flash Media Interactive Server working in conjunction with MogileFS? What it boils down to is that I need FMIS to fetch the FLV files from MogileFS over HTTP. As far as I can tell, however, the FMIS can only fetch and stream files from a local store :/ Anyone have experience with this or other ideas? Thanks!

  • Media Disconnected Networking Issue

    After rearranging my physical network in my apartment my Windows Vista machine can no longer connect to the network. I have tested all of the cabling by connecting other devices and everything is fine. I'm able to connect using other computers, I've even tested a brand new ethernet adapter and the network status still reads "media disconnected". I have no idea where to go from here. My setup is as follows: Cable modem - router - hardwired ethernet cable to computer.

  • HTPC/DVR computer won't go into standby

    When I select Start-Turn off computer-Standby the 'turn off computer' option window closes, and then nothing else happens. I can start new applications, and Windows acts like I never selected standby. I ran it for several hours after that. If I have a TV program scheduled to record when I select standby I get a window (the Pinnacle TV software) asking if I'm sure, there are programs scheduled to record - and the computer just keeps running after I select yes, never going into standby. I added that detail as it shows the standby process is starting. [This problem also happens if a TV program is not scheduled, so the scheduler task in not running/in memory. This problem happens regardless of whether I'm not watching TV. This problem happens regardless of whether Media Center is running (it usually isn't, I'm using Pinnacle to watch TV).] I looked at "How to troubleshoot hibernation and standby issues in Windows XP" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907477 - ACPI is enabled, and "standby" is an option in "Power Options Properties." So it appears to be setup correctly. Windows XP SP3 Media Center Edition, all current updates installed.
