  • Node.js/Express Partials problem: Can't be nested too deep?

    - by heorling
I'm learning Node.js, Express, haml.js and liking it. I've run into a prety annoying problem though. I'm pretty new to this but have been getting nice results so far. I'm writing a jquery heavy web app that relies on a table containing divs. The divs slide around, switch back and fourth and are resized etc to my hearts content. What I'm looking for a way to switch (template?) the divs. Since I've been building in express and mimicking the chat example it would make sense to use partials. The rub is that I've been using inexplicit divs in haml, held within a td. The divs are cunstructed as follows: %tr %td .class1.class2.class3.classetc Which has worked fine cross browser. Parsing the classes works great for the js code to pass arguments around, fetch values etc. What I'd like to be able to do is something like: %tr %td .class1.class2.class3.classetc %ul#messages != this.partial('message.html.haml', { collection: messages }) Any combination I've tried with this has failed however. And I might have tried them all. If I could put a partial into that div I'd probably be set. And you can nest them as long as you use #ids instead of .classes. But if you use more than one class it breaks! I think that's the most accurate way of summing it up. How do you do this? I've checked out various templating solutions like mu.js and micro template like by John Resig. I earlier checked out this thread on templating engines. It's very possible I'm making some fundamental mistake here, I'm new to this. What's a good way to do this?

  • why does this knockout method receive a form element instead of the object its nested in?

    - by ladookie
    I have this HTML: <ul class="chat_list" data-bind="foreach: chats"> <li> <div class="chat_response" data-bind="visible: CommentList().length == 0"> <form data-bind="submit: $root.addComment"> <input class="comment_field" placeholder="Comment…" data-bind="value: NewCommentText" /> </form> </div> </li> </ul> and this JavaScript: function ChatListViewModel(chats) { // var self = this; self.chats = ko.observableArray(ko.utils.arrayMap(chats, function (chat) { return { CourseItemDescription: chat.CourseItemDescription, CommentList: ko.observableArray(chat.CommentList), CourseItemID: chat.CourseItemID, UserName: chat.UserName, ChatGroupNumber: chat.ChatGroupNumber, ChatCount: chat.ChatCount, NewCommentText: ko.observable("") }; })); self.newChatText = ko.observable(); self.addComment = function (chat) { var newComment = { CourseItemDescription: chat.NewCommentText(), ParentCourseItemID: chat.CourseItemID, CourseID: $.CourseLogic.dataitem.CourseID, AccountID: $.CourseLogic.dataitem.AccountID, SystemObjectID: $.CourseLogic.dataitem.CommentSystemObjectID, SystemObjectName: "Comments", UserName: chat.UserName }; chat.CommentList.push(newComment); chat.NewCommentText(""); }; } ko.applyBindings(new ChatListViewModel(initialData)); When I go into the debugger it shows that the chat parameter of the addComment() function is a form element instead of a chat object. Why is this happening?

  • How to access YAML sublevel item in a nested variable?

    - by Kleber S.
Getting the error: You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.[] APP_CONFIG are loading fine. account_type = 'sample' allowed = APP_CONFIG['account']["#{account_type}"]['highlight'] Error points to 'allowed' variable line. The method that I currently trying to is: def self.allow_highlight?(account) account_type = Account.find(account).active_pack # returning a string - OK logger.debug account_type.class # checked on console - OK allowed = APP_CONFIG['account']["#{account_type}"]['highlight'] # Error line if total_account_highlight > allowed false else true end end Hope you understand. Any doubts, please ask me. Thanks!

  • How to do rolling balances in Linq2SQL

    - by David Liddle
Given an account with a list of transactions I would like to output a query that shows each transaction with the rolling balance (just like you would see on an online banking account). TRANSACTIONS - ID - DATE - AMOUNT Here is what I created in T-SQL however was wondering if this can be translated to linq2sql code? select T.ID, convert(char(10), T.DATE, 101) as 'DATE', T.AMOUNT, (select sum(O.AMOUNT) from TRANSACTIONS O where O.DATE < T.DATE or (O.DATE = T.DATE and O.ID <= T.ID)) 'BALANCE' from TRANSACTIONS as T where T.DATE between @pStartDate and @pEndDate order by T.DATE, T.ID Alternatively I guess my other option is to just call a stored procedure for these kind of results. However, I have Services which call Repositories and didn't really want to put the sproc call in the Repository.

  • How do I find the highest level TR that contains a specific ID nested in a table

    - by Mykroft
I have some HTML that looks like this (NOTE: I know this code isn't great but I didn't design it originally and some of it is auto generated): <table id="tab1"> <tr> <td><span>Some text</span></td> <td><span>more text</span></td> <td><input type="text" id="inp1" onclick="DoSomething(this);" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td><span>Some text</span></td> <td><span>more text</span></td> <td><table id="tab2"> <tr><td><input type="radio" id="inp2" onclick="DoSomething(this);" /><span>item</span></td></tr> </table></td> </tr> </table> All of that is embedded in a table which is also embedded in a table and so on. In the DoSomething(this) function I want to retrieve the TR underneath the table tab1. I'm having trouble figuring out the jquery necessary for this. Currently I'm doing something like this: function DoSomething(control) { var parentTab = '<%=tab1.ClientID %>'; var tr = $('#' + parentTab + ' > tbody > tr').has('#' + $(control).attr('id')).get(0); } This seems really messy but works. Is there a cleaner way to do this? If it helps the input inside the table will always be a radio button and a radio button will never appear outside of a sub table. Ideally I'd like to do this without having to know the id of tab1 but that seems impossible.

  • How to implement "short" nested vanity urls in rails?

    - by UnSandpiper
I understand how to create a vanity URL in Rails in order to translate http://mysite.com/forum/1 into http://mysite.com/some-forum-name But I'd like to take it a step further and get the following working (if it is possible at all): Instead of: http://mysite.com/forum/1/board/99/thread/321 I'd like in the first step to get to something like this: http://mysite.com/1/99/321 and ultimately have it like http://mysite.com/some-forum-name/some-board-name/this-is-the-thread-subject. Is this possible?

  • Nested Routes Show Action: What objects does it expect?

    - by NoahClark
Here is the relevant line from my rake routes: client_note GET /clients/:client_id/notes/:id(.:format) notes#show When I try passing in the objects like <%= client_note_path([client, @notes.first]) %>> I get: No route matches {:action=>"show", :controller=>"notes", :client_id=>[#<Client id: 5, ... , #<Note id: 9, ...]} Which made me think to try a client ID. So, I tried: <%= client_note_path([client.id, @notes.first]) %> which gives me: No route matches {:action=>"show", :controller=>"notes", :client_id=>[5, #<Note id: 9,content: "He just bought a brand new bobcat, be sure to charg...", client_id: 5, created_at: "2012-06-11 16:18:16", updated_at: "2012-06-11 16:18:16">]} Which, made me want to try just passing in a client ID. <%= client_note_path(client.id) %> No route matches {:action=>"show", :controller=>"notes", :client_id=>5} Still not what I'm looking for. I want to be able to show an individual note which can normally be found at a url like looks like: http://localhost:3000/clients/2/notes/3/

  • How do I access a value of a nested Perl hash?

    - by st
    I am new to Perl and I have a problem that's very simple but I cannot find the answer when consulting my Perl book. When printing the result of Dumper($request); I get the following result: $VAR1 = bless( { '_protocol' => 'HTTP/1.1', '_content' => '', '_uri' => bless( do{\(my $o = 'http://myawesomeserver.org:8081/counter/')}, 'URI::http' ), '_headers' => bless( { 'user-agent' => 'Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en; rv:1.9.0.4) Gecko/20080528 Epiphany/2.22 Firefox/3.0', 'connection' => 'keep-alive', 'cache-control' => 'max-age=0', 'keep-alive' => '300', 'accept' => 'text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8', 'accept-language' => 'en-us,en;q=0.5', 'accept-encoding' => 'gzip,deflate', 'host' => 'localhost:8081', 'accept-charset' => 'ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7' }, 'HTTP::Headers' ), '_method' => 'GET', '_handle' => bless( \*Symbol::GEN0, 'FileHandle' ) }, 'HTTP::Server::Simple::Dispatched::Request' ); How can I access the values of '_method' ('GET') or of 'host' ('localhost:8081'). I know that's an easy question, but Perl is somewhat cryptic at the beginning.

  • HTML block nested in PHP if statement - is this considered bad practice?

    - by JYelton
Consider the following example: <table> <tr> <td>Row One</td> </tr> <?php if ($rowtwo) { ?> <tr> <td>Row Two</td> </tr> <?php } ?> </table> If $rowtwo is true, the second row is output, otherwise it is skipped. The code works as desired, however I am evaluating Netbeans (7 beta) as a PHP IDE (instead of just using a text editor). Netbeans flags the code with an error: Misplaced non-space characters insided [sic] a table. Should I consider an alternate way of writing this code, or is Netbeans incapable of understanding this flow control wrapper for HTML output?

  • PowerShell; Use Get-Member to Self Document Nested COM Object

    - by Zion
Anyone know how to use Get-Member to Recursively dump to a text file The entire properties|methods tree of a COM object? (The Output formatting of Get-Object is fine) Instead of giving me only the top level as in this example; New-Object -com AutoItX3.Control | Get-Member I need it to recurse the entire object to return results. If This is not possible, how would I dump the methods/properties of a sub object?

  • How do I add events to nested server controls? (ASP.Net)

    - by bert
I am building a custom master page type control i.e. sort of like a datagrid but should be easier to add custom functionality into it. It's going great but part of the desired functionality is to have a paging control that switches on and off and part of that control would be a textbox that displays the current page number and on TextChanged redirects to the new page of the dataset. The problem I'm having is that technically the textbox which has its event fired is embedded in a control that is embedded in the control you actually put on the page sort of like Page  | Display Control  | Paging Control  | Textbox Buried all the way down there the event is not firing. Worse the postback javascript isn't even being written onto the page (Nothing on the page posts back so far this is the only bit that really needs to). I've been trawling around Google for quite a while now and picked up that I need to implement INamingContainer (done) and I need to add the control into the page's control tree (is Pre_Init too late for that? When's a good time to Add the Control to the page?) then the event should fire, apparently. But I've been unable to find an example of best practice on this there are quite a few near misses where people are having button angst but this isn't a button. So can anyone point me in the direction of getting a control embedded in a control embedded in a control added to a page to behave properly?

  • Simpler / more efficient method of nested if ... else flow?

    - by Scott
    I'm currently working on an emulation server for a flash-client based game, which has a "pets system", and I was wondering if there was a simpler way of going about checking the level of specified pets. Current code: public int Level { get { if (Expirience > 100) // Level 2 { if (Expirience > 200) // Level 3 { if (Expirience > 400) // Level 4 - Unsure of Goal { if (Expirience > 600) // Level 5 - Unsure of Goal { if (Expirience > 1000) // Level 6 { if (Expirience > 1300) // Level 7 { if (Expirience > 1800) // Level 8 { if (Expirience > 2400) // Level 9 { if (Expirience > 3200) // Level 10 { if (Expirience > 4300) // Level 11 { if (Expirience > 7200) // Level 12 - Unsure of Goal { if (Expirience > 8500) // Level 13 - Unsure of Goal { if (Expirience > 10100) // Level 14 { if (Expirience > 13300) // Level 15 { if (Expirience > 17500) // Level 16 { if (Expirience > 23000) // Level 17 { return 17; // Bored } return 16; } return 15; } return 14; } return 13; } return 12; } return 11; } return 10; } return 9; } return 8; } return 7; } return 6; } return 5; } return 4; } return 3; } return 2; } return 1; } } Yes, I'm aware I've misspelt Experience, I had made the mistake in a previous function and hadn't gotten around to updating everything.

  • How to access a superclass method from a nested class?

    - by m01
I hope this code explains the problem: class Foo { void a() { / *stuff */ } } class Bar extends Foo { void a() { throw new Exception("This is not allowed for Bar"); } class Baz { void blah() { // how to access Foo.a from here? } } } I know that I may be doing something wrong, because inheritance perhaps shouldn't be used in such way. But it's the easiest way in my situation. And, beside that, I'm just curious. Is it possible?

  • How do I push a new controller via UIButton, nested in a UIScrollView?

    - by jimijon
Hello - I have my views that are part of a tabBar. Each view has a navigationController. In one of my views I have an embeded xib component. This is a scrolling view with UIButtons inside it. I want to slide in another view, inside the navigationController when a person taps the button. I can get the taps, etc. BUT, I can't figure out how to find the controlling navigationController of that page to push the new view into. Nothing seems to work that I have tried. IS this possible? Thanks

  • Is re-throwing an exception legal in a nested 'try'?

    - by Alexander Gessler
Is the following well-defined in C++, or not? I am forced to 'convert' exceptions to return codes (the API in question is used by many C users, so I need to make sure all C++ exceptions are caught & handled before control is returned to the caller). enum ErrorCode {…}; ErrorCode dispatcher() { try { throw; } catch (std::bad_alloc&) { return ErrorCode_OutOfMemory; } catch (std::logic_error&) { return ErrorCode_LogicError; } catch (myownstdexcderivedclass&) { return ErrorCode_42; } catch(...) { return ErrorCode_UnknownWeWillAllDie; } } ErrorCode apifunc() { try { // foo() might throw anything foo(); } catch(...) { // dispatcher rethrows the exception and does fine-grained handling return dispatcher(); } return ErrorCode_Fine; } ErrorCode apifunc2() { try { // bar() might throw anything bar(); } catch(...) { return dispatcher(); } return ErrorCode_Fine; } I hope the sample shows my intention. My guess is that this is undefined behaviour, but I'm not sure. Please provide quotes from the standard, if applicable. Alternative approaches are appreciated as well. Thanks!

  • Nested modal view controller gives strange message under iOS6?

    - by user1840362
I am presenting a modal view controller from another modal view controller, and this worked fine under all iOS versions prior to iOS6. But under iOS6 I am getting the following warning message in the emulator: Warning: Attempt to present <UINavigationController: 0x14e93680> on <UINavigationController: 0x9fc6b70> while a presentation is in progress! The modal view controller is not shown if this warning appears. Basically I am using code like this to show the modal view controller: WebAuthViewController *authController = [[WebAuthViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; authController.challenge = challenge; authController.delegate = self; UINavigationController *aNavController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:authController]; [self presentModalViewController:aNavController animated:YES]; [aNavController release]; [authController release]; The view that is already shown is a UIWebView also shown in a modal view, like this: WebViewController *addController = [[WebViewController alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil]; addController.urlToLoad = [NSURL URLWithString:urlString]; addController.delegate = self; UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:addController]; navigationController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal; [self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; [navigationController release]; [addController release]; The apple docs still suggest that one is supposed to be able to stack navigation controllers like this, so I am at a loss to explain why this happens. Any hints?

  • Why can't my vector access the variables in my nested structs?

The first struct, struct record, is composed of 2 regular variables. In struct 2, I have a linked list of type "record", which includes all the variable listed in struct 1. Why is it that when ever I attempt to access a variable in the structs, using my vector, I get the error "linked list iterator not dereferencable?"

  • BizTalk and SQL: Alternatives to the SQL receive adapter. Using Msmq to receive SQL data

    - by Leonid Ganeline
If we have to get data from the SQL database, the standard way is to use a receive port with SQL adapter. SQL receive adapter is a solicit-response adapter. It periodically polls the SQL database with queries. That’s only way it can work. Sometimes it is undesirable. With new WCF-SQL adapter we can use the lightweight approach but still with the same principle, the WCF-SQL adapter periodically solicits the database with queries to check for the new records. Imagine the situation when the new records can appear in very broad time limits, some - in a second interval, others - in the several minutes interval. Our requirement is to process the new records ASAP. That means the polling interval should be near the shortest interval between the new records, a second interval. As a result the most of the poll queries would return nothing and would load the database without good reason. If the database is working under heavy payload, it is very undesirable. Do we have other choices? Sure. We can change the polling to the “eventing”. The good news is the SQL server could issue the event in case of new records with triggers. Got a new record –the trigger event is fired. No new records – no the trigger events – no excessive load to the database. The bad news is the SQL Server doesn’t have intrinsic methods to send the event data outside. For example, we would rather use the adapters that do listen for the data and do not solicit. There are several such adapters-listeners as File, Ftp, SOAP, WCF, and Msmq. But the SQL Server doesn’t have methods to create and save files, to consume the Web-services, to create and send messages in the queue, does it? Can we use the File, FTP, Msmq, WCF adapters to get data from SQL code? Yes, we can. The SQL Server 2005 and 2008 have the possibility to use .NET code inside SQL code. See the SQL Integration. How it works for the Msmq, for example: ·         New record is created, trigger is fired ·         Trigger calls the CLR stored procedure and passes the message parameters to it ·         The CLR stored procedure creates message and sends it to the outgoing queue in the SQL Server computer. ·         Msmq service transfers message to the queue in the BizTalk Server computer. ·         WCF-NetMsmq adapter receives the message from this queue. For the File adapter the idea is the same, the CLR stored procedure creates and stores the file with message, and then the File adapter picks up this file. Using WCF-NetMsmq adapter to get data from SQL I am describing the full set of the deployment and development steps for the case with the WCF-NetMsmq adapter. Development: 1.       Create the .NET code: project, class and method to create and send the message to the MSMQ queue. 2.       Create the SQL code in triggers to call the .NET code. Installation and Deployment: 1.       SQL Server: a.       Register the CLR assembly with .NET (CLR) code b.      Install the MSMQ Services 2.       BizTalk Server: a.       Install the MSMQ Services b.      Create the MSMQ queue c.       Create the WCF-NetMsmq receive port. The detailed description is below. Code .NET code … using System.Xml; using System.Xml.Linq; using System.Xml.Serialization;   //namespace MyCompany.MySolution.MyProject – doesn’t work. The assembly name is MyCompany.MySolution.MyProject // I gave up with the compound namespace. Seems the CLR Integration cannot work with it L. It could be the issue for the production SQL Server! 2.       For more information, please, see the link http://nielsb.wordpress.com/sqlclrwcf/ 3.       Copy files: >copy “\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll” “\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0 \Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll” If your machine is a 64-bit, run two commands: >copy “\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll” “\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0 \Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll” >copy “\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework64\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll” “\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0 \Microsoft.Transactions.Bridge.dll” 4.       Execute the SQL code to register the .NET assemblies: -- For x64 OS: CREATE ASSEMBLY SMdiagnostics AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\SMdiagnostics.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Web] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\System.Web.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Messaging] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.Messaging.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.ServiceModel] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0\System.ServiceModel.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Xml.Linq] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5\System.Xml.Linq.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe   -- For x32 OS: --CREATE ASSEMBLY SMdiagnostics AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation\SMdiagnostics.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe --CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Web] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.Web.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe --CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.Messaging] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\System.Messaging.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe --CREATE ASSEMBLY [System.ServiceModel] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM 'C:\Program Files\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.0\System.ServiceModel.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe 5.       Register the assembly with the external stored procedure: CREATE ASSEMBLY [HelperClass] AUTHORIZATION dbo FROM ’<FilePath>MyCompany.MySolution.MyProject.dll' WITH permission_set = unsafe where the <FilePath> - the path of the file on this machine! 6. Create the external stored procedure CREATE PROCEDURE sp_SendMsg (        @msmqAddress nvarchar(100),        @Action NVARCHAR(50),        @par1 int,        @par2 int,        @par3 int ) AS EXTERNAL NAME HelperClear.MsmqHelper.SendMsg   Installing the MSMQ Services 1.       Check if the MSMQ service is NOT installed. To check:  Start / Administrative Tools / Computer Management, on the left pane open the “Services and Applications”, search to the “Message Queuing”. If you cannot see it, follow next steps. 2.       Start / Control Panel / Programs and Features 3.       Click “Turn Windows Features on or off” 4.       Click Features, click “Add Features” 5.       Scroll down the feature list; open the “Message Queuing” / “Message Queuing Services”; and check the “Message Queuing Server” option  6.       Click Next; Click Install; wait to the successful finish of the installation Creating the MSMQ queue We don’t need to create the queue on the “sender” side. On the BizTalk Server Installing the MSMQ Services The same is as for the SQL Server. Creating the MSMQ queue 1.       Start / Administrative Tools / Computer Management, on the left pane open the “Services and Applications”, open the “Message Queuing”, and open the “Private Queues”. 2.       Right-click the “Private Queues”; choose New; choose “Private Queue”. 3.       Type the Queue name as ’myapp.myqueue'; check the “Transactional” option. Creating the WCF-NetMsmq receive port I will not go through this step in all details. It is straightforward. URI for this receive location should be 'net.msmq://localhost/private/myapp.myqueue'. Notes ·         The biggest problem is usually on the step the “Registering the CLR assembly”. It is hard to predict where are the assemblies from the assembly list, what version should be used, x86 or x64. It is pity of such “rude” integration of the SQL with .NET. ·         In couple cases the new WCF-NetMsmq port was not able to work with the queue. Try to replace the WCF- NetMsmq port with the WCF-Custom port with netMsmqBinding. It was working fine for me. ·         To test how messages go through the queue you can turn on the Journal /Enabled option for the queue. I used the QueueExplorer utility to look to the messages in Journal. The Computer Management can also show the messages but it shows only small part of the message body and in the weird format. The QueueExplorer can do the better job; it shows the whole body and Xml messages are in good color format.
