• Mirroring a portion of the screen to an external display (in OSX)

  I would like to write a program that can mirror a portion of the main display into a new window. Ideally this new window could then be displayed on an external monitor. I have seen this uiltity for a flightsim that does this on a pc (a multifunction display extractor). MFDex http://trac2.assembla.com/lightnings..._x86_Setup.msi I have looked at screen magnifiers or vnc clients for ideas but I think I need to write something from scratch. I have tried to do some reading on osx programing but where do I start in terms of gaining access to the display? I somehow need to extract the graphics from a particular program. Is it best to go near the final output stage (the individual pixels sent to the display) or somewhere nearer the window management stage. Any ideas or pointers would be much appreciated.   I'm using jQuery Mobile & Phonegap, and have the following code to open all external links in a certain div with the ChildBrowser: $('.someDIV a').live('click', function() { var thisUrl = $(this).attr('href'); PhoneGap.exec("ChildBrowserCommand.showWebPage", thisUrl); return false; }); For some reason, while the page loads in the childbrowser, it also loads in the background, as if there's no "return false". I've found a workaround by giving the link's href attribute a value of "#", and using the title for the url like this: And updating the jQuery code accordingly, but this is a problem where my links are dynamically generated, and I can't have the url in the title attribute. Any ideas how to solve this?

So if I want to run 'foo', it will look for 'foo.bat', 'foo.exe' under windows and 'foo' under other OSs (or, have a way of passing a map of os-command) Being able to execute Java classes by simply giving the class name and arguments (so the package locates the java command, copies jvm flags and then executes) Process stdout and stderr properly Watchdog / Monitoring capabilities I've looked at commons-exec but it looks like it answers only 3 & 4. Ant has support for execution but looks like an overkill to use it for this purpose only.

  Good day. I know that in order to save object state in Java I should use serialization. But in every single topic about serialization states that I must save my object somewhere (disk, network). My problem is that I'm not allowed to do so. I need a way to save and recover object state without writing it on "external" memory. Maybe to save it on heap or stack...   I'm curious if there is an efficient way to wait for the front page of a site to load, and then pre-load CSS and script files that I know will likely be needed for the other pages on the site. I want the front page of the site to be as fast as possible (lean and mean). It's likely that the user will not immediately click on a link. Since there will likely be some idle time, this seems like an opportune time to pre-load some of the external assets. Pre-loading should cause them to become cached. When the user does click on another page, the only request needed will be for the content and possibly some images, etc. Has anyone done this? Is it a bad idea? Is there an elegant way to implement it?

• Getting All categories in external page.

  This is very basic magento question i guess. I want to first get all the store categories, then loop through them to get their sub-categories and products and similarly continue till the last sub-category. I will be using this in an external page having Mage::app() declared at the top of the page. I am not aware of the Magento API's(if thats wat they are called) to use to get this functionality. Remember I am not using this in any of the templates, so something like getCurrentCategory() will not work here i guess. Also please guide if there are any good resources to search for particular functionality in magento and API's to implement it, or am i doomed to go through their phpdoc to know the list of methods. Any help here will be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

• how do i install a game patch on an external hard drive

  I have a 2tb external hard drive and I want to install battlefield 1942 on it. i can get the game on the hard drive without problems, and it runs great. the problem is that i have an outdated version, and i need to install a patch. thats when it gets iffy. i get the patch and start the install, and it finishes, but it doesnt install to the game itself. it goes to its own seperate folder, and that does nothing to the game. the patch installer doesnt ask me where the game is, and so im thinking that it cant find the game itself, and then screws up. any help would be great!

  Hello. I'd like to know if it's possible to know if an external application has an window that is showing up on the taskbar. I have a program that sometimes shows up an error message and it appears on the taskbar. If I "close" the message, it will go invisible, but from what I've seen it still exists. So the only way for me to know if that window is visible and thus "clickable" is to check if it is being shown on the taskbar or not. How can I do this? Thanks

  Hi all, still learning, so be patient :) I've developed a module for a Java project. The module depends on external library (fastutil). the problem is, the fastutil.jar file is a couple of times heavier than the whole project itself (14 MB). I only use a tiny subset of the classes from the library. the module is now finished, and no-one is likely to extend it in future. is there a way I could extract only the relevant class to some fastutil_small.jar so that others don't have to download all this extra weight? there's probably a simple answer to this, but as I said, I still consider myself a noob.   I'm playing around with an idea, and I'm stuck at this one part. I want to read an external HTML page and then extract the data held within two <dd> tags. I've been using file_get_contents with good results, but I'm at a loss as to how to accomplish that last part. The two tags I want to extract the value from are always enclosed within a particular <div>, was wondering if that might help? In my mind it reads the entire html file into a string, then dumps all the data up until this one particular <div>, and dumps all the data after the closing </div>. Is that possible? I think this needs regex syntax which I've never used yet. So any tips, links, or examples would be great! I can provide more info as necessary.

Now I need to add another project to this solution which depends on some sources from other projects.   Its bit difficult to explain but very simple problem. We have internal sendmail server and hosted server. Both are set to same domain name. We have mixed mail accounts. For example we have two user in one office. [email protected] is local only [email protected] is internal plus external. Internal means we create user on local linux box where sendmail is set. External means we create user on local and hosted server. [email protected] can send mails to any internal user created on Linux box where sendmail is installed. But he can not send mail to outside domain and no mail can be sent to him as there is no account created on external hosted server. [email protected] can send mails to internal as well as all other domains through sendmail's smart_host feature, which uses hosted server's smtp. [email protected] can get all external emails internally through Fetchmail on linux box. Now we have third user [email protected] who will be always outstation and can use external server only. So I can not create account on local linux box for [email protected] because his mail will get delivered locally only. I don't want to create alias and send his mails to gmail or yahoo's account. I want to send emails to his external account from any internal user. How this can be done? Thanks in advance.

  Hello, I own Sony Vaio Z laptop with two external USB ports. It's quite new and has USB 2.0 support. I'm using Vista x64 on it. I also have two external usb hard drives, Iomega 500GB and WD for 1TB. Every hard drive has USB 2.0 support. I connect two devices to my laptop and trying to copy date from one hard drive to another. But it takes a lot of time! The speed is about 15 Megabytes per second. I have to wait toooooo long to copy all the information from one hard drive to another. When I try to copy information from my internal (SSD) hard drive, it works fine for both external drives. The speed is very high and it shows me something about 100 Megabytes per second. It makes me feel that USB 2.0 is OK on both drives. But when I'm trying to copy from one external drive to another external, I still get very low speed. I checked out Device Manager and here is the settings I have: (sorry, can't upload image because of my rating, check this url: http://picbite.com/image/122073daljo/ ) I think it's because two of my external drives use the same USB 2.0 controller. Is there any way to make it work faster? Is it possible to move one of my USB ports to other USB 2.0 controller? • QWebView not loading external resources

  Hi. I'm working on a kiosk web browser using Qt and PyQt4. QWebView seems to work quite well except for one quirk. If a URL fails to load for any reason, I want to redirect the user to a custom error page. I've done this using the loadFinished() signal to check the result, and change the URL to the custom page if necessary using QWebView.load(). However, any page I attempt to load here fails to pull in external resources like CSS or images. Using QWebView.load() to set the initial page at startup seems to work fine, and clicking any link on the custom error page will result in the destination page loading fine. It's just the error page that doesn't work. I'm really not sure where to go next. I've included the source for an app that will replicate the problem below. It takes a URL as a command line argument - a valid URL will display correctly, a bad URL (eg.   Hi, I'M just trying to get started with Ninject 2 and ASP.NET MVC 2. Now I want to load a repository type from another assembly (where my concrete SQL Repositories are located) and I just cant get it to work. The kernel.Load(System.Reflection.Assembly.Load("MyAssembly")); also does its job and registers the module but as soon as I call on the controller which needs the repository I get an ActivationException from Ninject: No matching bindings are available, and the type is not self-bindable. Activation path: 2) Injection of dependency CommunityUserRepository into parameter _rep of constructor of type AccountController 1) Request for AccountController Can anyone give me a best practice example for binding types from external assemblies (which really is an important aspect of Dependency Injection)?   Most of you certainly use some kind of bugtracker. Maybe internally only, once a customer files a bug via email or phone you add a new ticket by yourself. Sometimes weekly project meetings can be great source of new tickets coming preferably in flavors of excel sheets that the PM on the other side of the table loves to maintain and chase after you. The more advanced (and transparent) version: Allow the customer to file (and see the progress of) his bugs directly into you bugtracker. Systems like JIRA allow you to use profiles to have certain access rights, etc. But now the question: The bug raised by a user not necessary translates into 1 bug in a specific module/method/EJB/class. The version of the (your) web application he uses does not translate into the version of the class that is causing the error. How you maintain the internal part of the ticket with all the nasty techy details and the same time the make-the-user-feel-good ticket (need more info, accepted, in progress,..) ? Creating 2 tickets for internal and external ? Link them ? Any smart recipes to share ?

  I have a Django app that gets it's data completely from an external source (queried via HTTP). That is, I don't have the option for a local database. Session data is stored in the cache (on my development server I use a SQLite database, so that is no error source). I'm using bleeding edge Django 1.1svn. Enter the problem: I want to use Django's own authentication system for the users. It seems quite simple to write my own Authentication Backend, but always just under the condition that you have a local database where to save the users. Without database my main problem is persistence.   How can I convert this Perl code to Groovy? How to bypass confirmation prompts of an external process? I am trying to convert a Perl script to Groovy. The program is loading/delete maestro (job scheduling) jobs automatically. The problem is the delete command will prompt for confirmation (Y/N) on every single job that it finds. I tried the process execute in groovy but will stop at the prompts. The Perl script is writing bunch of Ys to the stream and print it to the handler( if I understood it correctly) to avoid stopping. I am wondering how to do the same thing in Groovy ? Or any other approach to execute a command and somehow write Y on every confirmation prompt.
