• "There were build errors. Would you like to continue and run the last successful build?" not showing

  Hi, Not a massive problem but something that has been bugging the life out of me... One of my colleagues was trying out some code on my machine and got the "There were build errors. Would you like to continue and run the last successful build?" pop-up when the build failed on Visual Studio. He clicked on the "don't show this again" checkbox and closed the dialogue. My problem is that I can't get the dialogue to show up again. I found these instructions online: "Select Tools, Options, Projects and Solutions, Build and Run. Then set the option "On run, when build or deployment errors occur" to Prompt to Launch." but that doesn't work. Resetting the IDE settings to default don't make any difference either. Is there any way to get this dialogue back or has it gone forever? Thanks, K

• Multi-line strings in objective-c localized strings file

  I have a template for an email that I've put in a localized strings file, and I'm loading the string with the NSLocalizedString macro. I'd rather not make each line its own string with a unique key. In Objective-C, I can create a human-readable multiline string like so: NSString *email = @"Hello %@,\n" "\n" "Check out %@.\n" "\n" "Sincerely,\n" "\n" "%@"; I tried to put that in a .strings file with: "email" = "Hello %@,\n" "\n" "Check out %@.\n" "\n" "Sincerely,\n" "\n" "%@"; But I get the following error at build time: CFPropertyListCreateFromXMLData(): Old-style plist parser: missing semicolon in dictionary. email-template.strings: Unexpected character " at line 1 Command /Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/CoreBuildTasks.xcplugin/Contents/Resources/copystrings failed with exit code 1 I can concatenate it all together like this: "email" = "Hello %@,\n\nCheck out %@.\n\nSincerely,\n\n%@"; But that will be a mess to maintain, particularly as the email gets longer. Is there a way to do this in a localized strings file? I've already tried adding backslashes at the end of each line, to no avail.

• Running Xcode Applications without installing Xcode

  I know nothing about Xcode, except it's a Developer interface from Apple that actually comes on OSX CD and it's used to create iPhone apps as well. I also know it have a Applications folder, filled with little utilities, that are indeed quite useful. I tried grabbing one of them and running, without installing Xcode but it doesn't work. It brings an error and a Problem Report from which I believe the relevant part is this: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: @rpath/DevToolsInterface.framework/Versions/A/DevToolsInterface I've tried, of course, locating that "framework", with no success. Well... I guess it's probably possible to install Xcode, get that utility source, if it exists somewhere, and compile for stand-alone. But that goes beyond my point. I just want to know if there's somewhere I can get those utilities and/or make them run without needing to install Xcode at all.

• Error TF31004 when connecting to TFS2008

  I'm trying to connect to a TFS2008 server through Visual Studio 2008 (Tools\Connect to Team Foundation Server) and get this error when trying to add our server: TF31004: Team Foundation encountered an unexpected error while connecting to Team Foundation Server . Wait a few minutes and try again. If the problem persists, contact your Team Foundation Server administrator. Needless to say, waiting doesn't help. I've tried using the ip address instead of the hostname but get the same error. I can log in via a browser, in fact IE and Chrome both SSO me straight in. The server is only used for testing one of our TFS plugins, so doesn't get much real use.

• vs2010: trying to debug javascript using Chrome: this is not a valid location for a breakpoint

  Everytime I try to set a debug point in Javascript, eietehr while in Design mode or while runniong, I get the error: trying to set a breakpoint in javascript: this is not a valid location for a breakpoint When I go to VS2010's Options screen under Debugging Just In Time, I see that Managed, Native & Script are selected, I also placed the line "debugger;" in the first line of a javascript function that is called but the break is never hit. In the Web.Config (although this is probably for compiled code:): <compilation debug="true I'm reliving this problem on a new machine...Can u help? Edit: I left out a huge detail: Google Chrome is my default browser. (I am trying to debug a Chrome-only error.) Must I resort to other debug tools other than VS2010? I am thinking that it should work. Too hopeful, eh?

The tool chain is already setup to build on Windows (cygwin) targeting ARM; There are also existing pre-built (unofficial) NDKs for targeting x86, but these contain pre-built tools for x86 Linux, not Windows. The NDK contains a build-toolchain.sh script to rebuild its tool chain; the question is, what specifically needs done to get that to build a tool chain targeting Android x86?

  Hi All, i have download Xcode SDK 4.2(xcode_3.2.5_and_ios_sdk_4.2_final.dmg) from Apple developer site and installed successfully . when open my old xcode project it shows baseSDk missing ,when i try to change project setting ,i have found and set base SDk as 4.2 it works fine my problem is ,in Base SDk list it shows (iOS 2.1, iOS 2.2, iOS 2.2.1, iOS 3.0, iOS 3.1, iOS 3.1.2, iOS 3.1.3, iOS 4.2) There is no iOS 4.0 and iOS 4.1 (which i have used before 4.2). anything wrong in my installation???? • Which datagrid to use for ASP.NET MVC2 project?

  Hi, I am developing a commercial MVC2 app that requires a grid that has callback update in some form to support 10,000+ rows. It should also support relatively rich content (icons, multiline descriptions etc). Although it requires the usual paging/scrolling/sorting features it does not need support for grouping. So nothing that special. The commercial grids I looked at were Component Art (http://www.componentart.com/products/aspnetmvc/datagrid/) and Telerik (http://www.telerik.com/products/aspnet-mvc/grid.aspx) which both look pretty good but may be a little OTT for what I need. They are also $800 and $999 respectively (1 developer). I've also looked at jqGrid (http://www.trirand.net/download.aspx) and the grid from MvcContrib. These appear ok but for a commercial app I am concerned that these may be risky options - though could be wrong there. I'd really appreciate any views/exprience on either the above grids or perhaps you can suggest a better option/approach. FYI I am using EF4 and C#. Cheers

  I don't know what exactly this feature is, but I would like to simulate this in my Silverlight project. I am a C# developer and am moving to Silverlight and Expression Studio (Blend) for richer UX. Let's say I have some user controls and would like them to come into the screen (slide-in and out) as shown in the following site I found: http://www.templatemonster.com/silverlight-templates/28722.html On the menu, as one clicks on the menu item, the 'screen' slides to the left and then a new 'screen' slides in from the left to right. I really want to learn this stuff, but don't know what these 'features' are called? For example what are these 'screens' called in the xaml world? Also, what is the 'slide-in/out' called in the xaml world? Can someone point me to a good article/whitepaper? Thanks in advance for any advice.

  I'm looking for a TFS 2010 GUI client that I can use outside of an IDE. I'm only looking to use the source control features in this case. I'm not talking about work items or build management. Ideally it would be a complete client that can be used on a machine where Visual Studio is not installed.   Require urgent help!:( i m developing a game and i m dealing with around 20 images at the same time. As per my knowledge, i m allocating and deallocating the images at right places. Game runs for around 15 min fine but quits with an error message: "Program received signal: “0”. warning: check_safe_call: could not restore current frame" i also tried debugging with memory leak tools provided in Xcode but could not find any issue with memory management or any increase in memory size on simulator it works fine but not on the device. i m confused wht can be the issue.   Delphi developers has several tools (several alternatives to ASP.NET) for building web applications. While No.1 framework is Intraweb, there is a lot of interest around ExtJS, that has 2 incarnations: 1) the opensource ExtPascal 2) the closedsource Raudus Now the products are different, Raudus never supports the latest ExtJS version (while ExtPascal does because as far as I read it "almost automatically updates itself to the latest ExJS version"), Raudus "seems" much RAD (much similar to Intraweb from the RAD point of view). Anyway why chose one or the other? Why Raudus (since it is free) cannot become Open Source? Or does Raudus use ExtPascal behind the scenes?

  This question relates to a previous question of mine. I am attempting to set-up a low overhead Web Container using Jetty 7 that I can deploy Web Services using Metro 2.0. I have installed the following Metro 2.0 libs into jetty/lib: webservices-extra-api.jar webservices-extra.jar webservices-rt.jar webservices-tools.jar And the following into a new jetty/lib/endorsed directory: jsr173_api.jar webservices-api.jar I start Jetty with the following script (Windows) to ensure that jetty/lib/endorsed is part of the 'endorsed library path' and to ensure that Jetty adds the webservices jars to its classpath: @echo off set JETTY_HOME=C:\dev\jetty-7.1.0 set JAVA_OPTS=-Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -Djetty.home=%JETTY_HOME% -Djava.endorsed.dirs=%JETTY_HOME%\lib\endorsed -Djetty.class.path=%JETTY_HOME%\lib\webservices-rt.jar;%JETTY_HOME%\lib\endorsed\webservices-api.jar -DSTOP.PORT=8079 -DSTOP.KEY=jettykey pushd %JETTY_HOME% java %JAVA_OPTS% -jar start.jar popd However when I deploy a WebServices war file (for example Metro sample 'pricequote'), I get the following exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.servlet.WSServletContextListener Can anyone help me with this please?   I started learning Java and how to program for Android last night :) So far I'm on this tutorial: developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/views/hello-tabwidget.html Clearly these tutorials have been designed for people that already have experience with Java. Despite the tutorial lacking all the required steps (for an absolute beginner with Java) and even having a typo, it seems I've figured everything out (which I'm really proud of :p). Except I cannot figure out how to fix TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); which apparently is undefined. I have one other error shown in the linked image below, but I don't see why.   I replaced ActivePerl with Strawberry Perl on my WinXP last week. I found I must run my Perl script with the command of perl myperl.pl; otherwise I only need run myperl.pl before install Strawberry. How can I only run myperl.pl as before? I checked my environment configuration as below. • Visual Studio 2008 - syntax-highlighting and intellisense not working for aspx, js, css

  Hello all, I'm having problems with Visual Studio 2008, namely, syntax-highlighting and intellisense for *.aspx, *.js and *.css files (and maybe more) not working. Also, when I go to Tools - Options... - Text editor - HTML - Format, I see this error message: "An error occurred loading this property page" Everything was working fine before, until recently. The only change that might have possibly triggered this (but I am not 100% sure whether it stopped working at that exact time or some other time) was a change of the display language in my Windows 7 installation. I have already tried running: devenv /Setup devenv /ResetSkipPkgs devenv /ResetSettings ...none of which helped. Also, setting my default system font to Tahoma, which was a suggestion I found somewhere else, did not work for me (it was Tahoma before, since I use the Windows Classic theme).   I'm building a LMS system using Sharepoint (WSS 3.0) with the Sharepoint Learning Kit (SLK). One of the requirements is to be able to host Silverlight content within the SCORM package. Has anyone done this before? I haven't been able to find much (anything) online that talks about how to do this. Most of the content tools that exist for SCORM are able to handle Flash, but I haven't come across anything that will do Silverlight. If all else fails, I'll try to manually build a SCORM package, but I'd really like to find some examples or howtos of doing this with Silverlight first. Has anyone done this before?

  The full error is as follows: The type 'System.Windows.Forms.Control' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. and it points at the very first statement (an Debug.Assert line) in the very first class in a library project that doesn't need System.Windows.Forms (or so I thought). I know how to solve it: add the mentioned reference. But how do I find out what library is causing this error, or better, what part of the code triggers using the WinForms library? Normally, you can add libraries that reference others, but you only need to add references to these others when they're actually used. EDIT: Alternative solution This or similar problems can also be resolved using the Binding Log Viewer Fuslogvw.exe from Microsoft's Framework Tools. It shows all attempts and successes of assemblies your application binds to.

  I've tried wrapping my <system.web> with <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> like this <location path="." InheritInChildApplications="false"> <system.web>...</system.web> </location> But VS 2010 Web Developer Express keeps saying "The 'InheritInChildApplications' attribute is not allowed" and when I run my web app there's an error: "HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid." Config Error Unrecognized attribute 'InheritInChildApplications'. I've seen some smartguys all over the Internet discussing this and how it is working for them but there's much larger number of people here at SO and other places that did not get this to work.   I replaced ActivePerl with Strawberry Perl on my WinXP last week. I found I must run my Perl script with the command of perl myperl.pl; otherwise I only need run myperl.pl before install Strawberry. How can I only run myperl.pl as before?   I'm using the new d:DesignInstance feature of the 4.0 series WPF tools. Works great! Only issue I'm having is: how can I set properties on the instance? Given something like this: <Grid d:DataContext="{d:DesignInstance plugin:SamplePendingChangesViewModel, IsDesignTimeCreatable=True}"/> How can I set properties on the viewmodel, aside from setting them in its default ctor or routing it through some other object initializer? I gave this a try but VS gives errors on compile "d:DataContext was not found": <Grid> <d:DataContext> <d:DesignInstance IsDesignTimeCreatable="True"> <plugin:SamplePendingChangesViewModel ActiveTagIndex="2"/> </d:DesignInstance> </d:DataContext> For the moment I'm going back to using a resource and 'd:DataContext={StaticResource SampleData}', where I can set the properties in the resource. Is there a way to do it via a d:DesignInstance?
