  • Has anyone achieved true differential sync with rsync in ESXi?

    Berate me later on the fact that I'm using the service console to do anything in ESXi... I've got a working rsync binary (v3.0.4) that I can use in ESXi 4.1U1. I tend to use rsync over cp when copying VM's or backups from one local datastore to another local datastore. I've used rsync to copy data from one ESXi box to another but that was just for small files. In now trying to do true differential syncs of backups taken via ghettoVCB between my primary ESXi machine and a secondary one. But even when I do this locally (one datastore to another datastore on the same ESXi machine) rsync appears to copy the files in their entirety. I've got two VMDK's totally 80GB in size, and rsync still takes anywhere between 1 and 2 hours but the VMDK's aren't growing that much daily. Below is the rsync command I'm executing. I am copying locally because ultimately these files will get copied onto a datastore created from a LUN on a remote system.     I have redHat 5.3 (Tikanga) with Mysql 5.0.86 configued with RIAD 10 HW, I run an application inquiries from Mysql/InnoDB and MyIsam tables, the queries are super fast,but some quires on Innodb tables sometime slow down and took more than 1-3 seconds to run and these queries are simple and optimized, this problem occurred just on innodb tables in different time with random queries.   • TFS 2012 fresh install on fresh Windows Server 2008 warning that reporting services are not installed

    I am attempting to evaluate TFS 2012 for our organization but cannot seem to get past the first step of configuring the server using the "Standard Single Server" configuration wizard. In particular, in the service account selection screen, I am warned that: Reporting services are not installed on this computer. You need to install Reporting Services to complete TFS installation with this wizard. This is disheartening because the way I understand it, this should have been installed with the default TFS installation (in fact, no installation options are even provided) and this is a fresh and up-to-date Windows Server 2008 VM. I know I could install SQL Server 2008 or 2012 from MSDN, but shouldn't this work "out of the box?" I'd really rather use the default, small, integrated version of SQL Server that comes with TFS 2012 rather than rolling my own. If it matters, this server is joined to a domain and I am running TFS installation wizard as a domain administrator.

    For some reason my list of recently used programs has stopped updating. Any program that I "pin" to the start menu remains, but where you would normally expect to see the recent programs is just blank space. What setting do you think could have changed?     Hi, I do not understand how following code works. Specifically, I do not understand using of "return i<3". I would expect return i IF its < than 3. I always though that return just returns value. I could not even find what syntax is it. Second question, it seems to me like using anonymous method (delegate(int i)) but could be possible to write it with normal delegate pointing to method elsewere?   • F5 irule with RESTful services

    I'm trying to come up with a rule on our F5 to direct traffic to our Tomcat server appropriately. We are deploying separate WAR files for each RESTful service. So, we would like to have the following URIs as an example: /services/quiz/01234/ /services/user/54321/ Where 'quiz' and 'user' are quiz.war and user.war respectively. We want to direct the traffic at the F5 level for /services/ to be the root and the rest of the URI to be directed to the Tomcat server. How do we accomplish this? Edit The browser url for a resource would look like http://www.domain.com/services/quiz/01234/ I want BIG-IP to send the request to tomcat as http://tomcatserver:8080/quiz/01234/ so basically remove /services and append everything after it to the tomcat domain. I would think this would be an easy regex, right?

  • 2008 Datacenter Word Automation issue

    We have an application that uses word automation. It works fine under Windows XP, but does not work on our Windows Server 2008 64-bit virtual machine running on VMware ESX unless it is running as the domain administrator. Under any other account (including a local admin), Word starts, uses a lot of CPU for 40 seconds when opening a document, and then just hangs. Our application does not access anything not on the local machine, and this machine is not being used for anything else (not a domain controller, etc). I know others have posted similar issues, with the solution of creating a Desktop folder somewhere under the windows directory. We did this, and it did not solve the problem (Word did not get as far as it did before we did this though). Please don't turn this into a thread about why I am trying to do this, whether I should do this, or whether I need to. For argument sake, I don't need to do this, but understanding what privilege a local admin does not have that is needed to do this is a legitimate concern.

    I have a Java app that can authenticate to LDAP by logging users into the AD LDAP server with the NTLM name (which they are used to - this is a requirement). I now also need to do authorization, and hence need to find a forest-unique identifier for the user (DN or UPN should work), from which I can further query the directory. The method needs to be absolutely portable, even if the AD is structured in an unusual fashion, otherwise I could just do a string replacement and search for a UPN of "${ntlm-user}@${ntlm-domain}.${configured-trailing-domain}" How can I do this, using pure LDAP? Currently, I'm using the java.naming.directory package, which I'd like to keep using, since it doesn't throw up problems when not binding with a DN but logging in with an NTLM name?

The widget has a tabbed interface, like the JQuery tabs http://stilbuero.de/jquery/tabs_3/. iFrames have been tested, but the widget form factor and cross-domain policy negates the use of iframes. The widget is very dynamic and will often update the DOM with new content - and because of cross-domain policy, it looks as though JSONP is necessary. I understand that 'widget.js.erb' needs to create the widget layout, reference a stylesheet, render the tabs, etc - but once a tab is clicked, how does the widget request the content from the Rails app and render it in the DOM?

  • Prepend 'www' to an HTTPS url using .htaccess & mod_rewrite

    I have a dilemma with this one. With the following code I am able to force SSL on any non SSL url, however when the user (and results from Google) take the user to http://mysite.co.za then we hit an issue as the url is then rewritten to https://mysite.co.za Due to the fact that my certificate is bound to www.mysite.co.za it immediately throws a security error because of the missing 'www' in the url. Can someone point out a way to add the www to the domain when the domain starts with HTTPS and not HTTP? Much appreciated. And the current code to add the https:// is as follows: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. RewriteCond %{HTTPS}s ^on(s)| RewriteRule ^ http%1://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

  • Explanation of contribute_to_class

    I'm attempted to extend code, and have come across an issue, I don't understand a line of code. I know the outcome of it - but I don't understand how it happens and am naturally enough scared to change it. The line of code I've come across is this: MyGenericRelation().contribute_to_class(model, 'field_name') The result of this code is a field with 'field_name' is added to the 'model' and from what I gather the objects inside the field are a list of type X (part of MyGenericRelation). I'm wondering if anyone can explain how this works. As in, why do I get a list of X objects attached to 'field_name' and if does it have to be generic relations prior to contribute_to_class or would using an actual model type, say 'Y' just give me a list of Y's. To be honest, I am more interested in the affect and functionality of the contribute_to_class method.

    I've recently begun using Notepad++, and have found a part of its styling functionality that confuses me. I'm currently attempting to color all of PHP's defined functions (such as count(), strlen(), etc.). In the Settings-Style Configurator, you cannot add a new style for such a function list. Instead, I have begun editing the stylers.xml and langs.xml. To add the new coloring, in langs.xml, I've modified the php section to the following: <Language name="php" ext="php php3 phtml" commentLine="//" commentStart="/*" commentEnd="*/"> <Keywords name="instre1">[default keywords]</Keywords> <Keywords name="instre2">[my function list]</Keywords> </Language> The [default keywords] and [my function list] are replaced with wordlists. When I edit the WORD style, which contains stuff like 'if', 'and', and 'true', things change accordingly in my code. Any ideas on how to make this work?

I want two things: When the item is focused, appears the typical orange rectangle over him. When the item is pressed the same. I have proved with a selector and a custom style but all i get is or the selector doesn't appear or the selector covering the item so i can't see it. If anyone can give me the right code i will be very grateful. Thanks

I've got a webserver that has a single domain SSL certificate https://secure.mysite.com I also have a couple of subdomains that point to different servers. http://www.mysite.com ( main server) http://subdomain.mysite.com (completely different server) I am wondering: What is the best way to add SSL to the subdomain: https://subdomain.mysite.com Is it possible to configure something like this with a wildcard certificate? Or is it better to purchase another single-domain certificate and install it on the seperate server? Are there any special considerations / pitfalls in doing something like this?   • Can a client determine whether the server has accept()'d a unix socket?

    I'm dealing with a buggy server that will sometimes fail to accept() connections (but leaves its listening socket open). This is on Linux with unix domain sockets. Currently the only way to detect this is that after sending a bunch of data, the buffer fills up and blocks, and the server isn't sending any replies. This long-after-the-fact failure mode is hard to distinguish from other bugs - the server could be unresponsive for other reasons. Especially for unix domain sockets it seems the kernel should know whether accept() has occurred; is there any way to find this out? Can the client block until accept() happens somehow, or at least check whether it has? This is just for debugging purposes so it can be a little ugly.

    I need to find out the pixel position of one element in a list that's been displayed using a ListView. It seems like I should get one of the TextViews and then use getTop, but I can't figure out how to get a child view of a ListView. Thanks! Update: The children of the ViewGroup do not correspond 1-to-1 with the items in the list, for a ListView. Instead, the ViewGroup's children correspond to only those views that are visible right now. So getChildAt operates on an index that's internal to the ViewGroup and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the position in the list that the ListView uses. :-/

    Hi, I have the following get method: public List<PersonalMessage> getMessagesList() { List<PersonalMessage> newList = new ArrayList<PersonalMessage>(); for(PersonalMessage pMessage : this.listMessages) { newList.add(pMessage.clone()); } return newList; } And you can see that if I need to change the implementation from ArrayList to something else, I can easily do it and I just have to change the initialization of newList and all other code that depends on what getMessageList() returns will still work. Then I have this set method: public void setMessagesList(ArrayList<PersonalMessage> listMessages) { this.listMessages = listMessages; } My question is, should I use List instead of `ArrayList in the method signature? I have decided to use ArrayList because this way I can force the implementation I want, otherwise there could be a mess with different types of lists here and there. But I'm not sure if this is the way to go...
