• how to speed up the code??

  in my program i have a method which requires about 4 files to be open each time it is called,as i require to take some data.all this data from the file i have been storing in list for manupalation. I approximatily need to call this method about 10,000 times.which is making my program very slow? any method for handling this files in a better ways and is storing the whole data in list time consuming what is better alternatives for list? I can give some code,but my previous question was closed as that only confused everyone as it is a part of big program and need to be explained completely to understand,so i am not giving any code,please suggest ways thinking this as a general question... thanks in advance

  I try command rsync -v --include-from=/path/to/list.lst /home/user /path/to/backup list.lst contains for example .gnupg/ .pki/ .gnome2/keyrings/ .mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarkbackups/ .mozilla/firefox/*.default/bookmarks.html .mozilla/firefox/.default/.db .mozilla/firefox/.default/.sqlite and i get error on all strings with * "failed: No such file or directory" When i use --files-from for this, i get error too. Can anybody help me use wildcards for this?

  need some help with building a powershell script to help with some basic string manipulation. I know just enough powershell to get in trouble, but can't figure out the syntax or coding to make this work. I have a text file that looks like this - Here is your list of servers: server1 server2.domain.local server3 Total number of servers: 3 I need to take that text file and drop the first and last lines (Always first and last.) Then I need to take every other line and basically turn it into a CSV file. The final output should be a text file that looks like this - server1,server2.domain.local,server3 Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks!

Also, the output of 'git remote' is strange, since it does not list 'public': $ git remote show origin How can I delete 'remotes/public/master' from the branch list?   I have C#.net application. I wanted to run my application In Thread. But because of third party dll it dont allow to use application in multiThread. There is one object in thrid party dll ,which only allow to create instance at one time only. When i manually run application exe instnace multiple time & process my data it process successfully..(might because of each exe run with its application domain) Same thing i require to implement from C# code. for that i have created dll which can accessible by Type.GetTypeFromProgID()..but multiple dll instnace creating same problem. Is there any way i could achive manual parallelism through code to process same exe code in multiple application domain?

  Hi to all, in this question i asked how to split text by whitespace, now i split it, but now i can't display this text in QTextEdit. I make so: QStringList list = line.split(QRegExp("\\s+")); for (int i = 0; i < list.count(); i++){ table.push_back(list[i]); this->ui->textEdit->setText(table[i]); //output text in qtextedit } But i see clean textedit after that. But if i make for example: this->ui->textEdit->setText(table[2]); I see third word in QTextEdit. What's wrong? Thank you.

• Running rspec against multiple targets

  I've written an rspec test using Watir against a web application and it's running fine. However, I now want to be able to run this test against the web application running on different domain names. My initial thought was that I'd be able to pass a value to spec at the command line to set a variable within my script, but I can't see any easy method of doing this. So my second thought was that I might need to add an array of domains into my script and have it test all of them - but I don't always want to test every domain, and the domains are constantly changing as we add and remove sites to be tested. What are my options for allowing the choice of targets I want?

• Comparing lists of objects and update

  I have a view, passing a LIST of Originals to this method. Before the post happened, i changed some of the properties. I now receive the updated list as a parameter in my method and would like to update the database with these new values. [HttpPost] public ActionResult NewValue(Page model) { var ListOfOriginals = Session.Query<Original>().ToList(); //GETS the objects i want to update listOfOriginals = Model.Pages // Model.page is the new list containing the updated values RavenSession.SaveChanges(); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } When i debug, i can see that listOfOriginals gets the new values. The problem is that i dont know how to update the RavenDB whith these new values. I tried adding this: Session.Store(listOfOriginals) before the SaveChanges() but that resulted in an error. Maybe there is a much better way of doing this?

  Hello everyone, In the perfect world, all the software developers would work with the cutting edge technologies, creating systems from the scratch. In the real life, almost all of us have to maintain software from time to time (unlucky ones do it on a regular basis). Personally I first 2 years of my career was fixing bugs in the company that no longer exists (it has been taken up by Oracle). And probably the biggest lesson I've learned that time - despite of the pressure, always try to get as much information about the domain as possible (even if it's irrelevant to fixing a specific bug or adding a feature) - abstract domain knowledge doesn't lose value as fast as knowledge about trendy frameworks or methodologies. What lessons have you learned from maintenance?

  I have a c# evaluator which uses the (I think) the .Net 4 new simplified sandboxed appdomain model to host the c# assembly, with remoting doing the rest. AppDomain sandbox = AppDomain.CreateDomain( "Sandboxed Domain", ev, ads, pset, null); The c# eval is embedded in a server app, but I don't want give the sandbox to much control unless it bo bo's the caller. What i'm looking for is regarding some clarification as to what to provide as Evidence from the caller. I'm looking for advice and guidance. Any help would be appreciated.

• Clean up State field with T-SQL?

  The State field in our database is a mess. There was no validation when it was filled so we have everything from two letter abbreviations to full state names to misspelled state names to "test" and "xxxx", etc. I am not going to try to handle everything, but for sure I want to fix the correct state names to abbreviations. I have a list of valid state names and abbreviations, but I don't know how I can do this: UPDATE Table SET State = ('AR','AK') WHERE (SELECT * FROM Table WHERE State IN ('Arkansas','Alaska')) Basically, can I update a field to be something from a list by the location it is in another list?

  I recently ran across a routine that looks something like this: procedure TMyForm.DoSomething(list: TList<TMyObject>; const flag: boolean); var local: integer; begin if flag then //do something else local := ExpensiveFunctionCallThatCalculatesSomething; //do something else for i := 0 to list.Count do if flag then //do something else if list[i].IntValue > local then //WARNING HERE //do something else end; This gives Variable 'local' might not have been initialized even though you can tell by reading the code that you won't hit that line unless the code branch that initializes it has run. Now, I could get rid of this warning by adding a useless local := 0; at the top of the procedure, but I wonder if there might not be a better way to structure this to avoid the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

• Simplest way to use a DatagridView with Linq to SQL

  Hi, I have never used datagrids and such, but today I came across a simple problem and decided to "databind" stuff to finish this faster, however I've found that it doesn't work as I was expecting. I though that by doing something as simple as: var q = from cust in dc.Customers where cust.FirstName == someString select cust; var list = new BindingList<Customer>(q.ToList()); return list; Then using that list in a DataGridView1.DataSource was all that I needed, however, no matter how much I google, I can't find a decent example on how to populate (for add/edit/modify) the results of a single table query into a DataGridView1. Most samples talk about ASP.NET which I lack, this is WinForms. Any ideas? I've came across other posts and the GetNewBindingList, but that doesn't seem to change much. What am I missing (must be obvious)? Thanks in advance. Martin.

Where can I find a full list of all error codes returned, and a description of what they mean?

  One of my clients uses Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security to protect their internal mail services. Suddenly InterScan decided to filter out all messages coming from Google App Engine. Unfortunately they haven't been able to whitelist the sender address as each e-mail gets a different one. For example, *3ckihSOVMMHlZHSL.JSMMHlZHSL.JS*@apphosting.bounces.google.com, with everything before the @ being variable. Update I'm including this screenshot of how Interscan sees the incoming e-mail. Notice that all senders are different: If I look into the e-mail headers, the apphosting domain appears inside the Return-Path field: Return-Path: <36kSiSwYIBh0883XL3E7.5EH883XL3E7.5E@apphosting.bounces.google.com> The "From" field looks ok. It says what I set it to say, but the spam filter only looks at the Return-Path. My client sysadmin doesn't want to whitelist the whole apphosting domain, as it wouldn't be only whitelisting my application. How could I bypass this e-mail filters if I can't get an unique sender?   hi, I wanted to make an application that will take either the path of the dll or Webservice and list me all the functions present in that dll. I accomplished the listing of the function using this but I am not able to list the functions of the Webservices. Using Assembly.GetMembers() it's listing the Function Name with the Parameters Type and I am not able to get the Parameters Name. How shall i get that? While debugging I found that m_parameters is a nonpublic member and i'm not able to get the Parameter name. Is that possible??? And one more question is how shall i list the functions available in the web service without including the web reference or service reference in the windows application using C#.

• Sending events to the dev version of a ruleset via HTTP

  I've been writing an endpoint that sends events to a KRL ruleset via HTTP GET (based on the documentation here), in this format: http://cs.kobj.net/blue/event/{domain}/{eventname}/{appid} That works great when the version of the app I want to test is the same one that's deployed. I don't always want to deploy before testing it, though. Using the stated format for calling the dev version doesn't work. It still calls the deployed version of my ruleset: http://cs.kobj.net/blue/event/{domain}/{eventname}/{appid}:kynetx_app_version=dev What am I doing wrong?

  We have a production environment configured with Puppet, and want to be able to set up a similar environment on our development machines: a mix of Red Hats, Ubuntus and OSX. As might be expected, OSX is the odd man out here, and sadly, I'm having a lot of trouble with getting this to work.
