  I don't know how SSH works and I think that's a simple question. How do I fix that exception: com.jcraft.jsch.JSchException: UnknownHostKey: mywebsite.com. RSA key fingerprint is 22:fb:ee:fe:18:cd:aa:9a:9c:78:89:9f:b4:78:75:b4 I know I should verify that key or something, but there is like zero documentation for Jsch. • Struts 1 ActionForm - retrieving a collection from pure HTML

  Hi all I have (just like the rest) inherited some struts 1 code. I have had need to add a few more pages to this project. What I cannot figure out is how to map several distinct but similarly natured input elements to the my ActionForm. Let me elaborate. I create a new <Input> element dynamically as the user inputs more and more items (I use the YUI autocomplete form element and for each entered input I add it as an input element to my form and draw a new YUI autocomplete - complex sounding, I know) So...   We are hosting an application on SUN JVM that handles a lot of XML parsing using Jaxb. The application is parsing the XML fine using JRockit 5 but when using the SUN JVM the JVM spends a majority of it’s time on native methods such as java-lang.System.arraycopy, java.lang.String.intern and java.lang.ClassLoader.getPackage. The CPU load is approx. 60% higher when using SUN JVM compared with JRockit. Even stranger is that when we only run the application server using one core (in WMWare) the problem disappears. • Why Does .Hide()ing and .Show()ing Panels in wxPython Result in the Sizer Changing the Layout?

  As referenced in my previous question, I am trying to make something slightly wizard-like in function. I have settled on a single frame with a sizer added to it. I build panels for each of the screens I would like users to see, add them to the frame's sizer, then switch between panels by .Hide()ing one panel, then calling a custom .ShowYourself() on the next panel. Obviously, I would like the buttons to remain in the same place as the user progresses through the process. I have linked together two panels in an infinite loop by their "Back" and "Next" buttons so you can see what is going on. The first panel looks great; tom10's code worked on that level, as it eschewed my initial, over-fancy attempt with borders flying every which way. And then the second panel seems to have shrunk down to the bare minimum. As we return to the first panel, the shrinkage has occurred here as well. Why does it look fine on the first panel, but not after I return there? Why is calling .Fit() necessary if I do not want a 10 pixel by 10 pixel wad of grey? And if it is necessary, why does .Fit() give inconsistent results? This infinite loop seems to characterize my experience with this: I fix the layout on a panel, only to find that switching ruins the layout for other panels. I fix that problem, by using sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 0) instead of sizer_h.Add(self.panel1, 1, wx.EXPAND), and now my layouts are off again. So far, my "solution" is to add a mastersizer.SetMinSize((475, 592)) to each panel's master sizer (commented out in the code below). This is a cruddy solution because 1) I have had to find the numbers that work by trial and error (-5 pixels for the width, -28 pixels for the height). 2) I don't understand why the underlying issue still happens. What's the correct, non-ugly solution? Instead of adding all of the panels to the frame's sizer at once, should switching panels involve .Detach()ing that panel from the frame's sizer and then .Add()ing the next panel to the frame's sizer? Is there a .JustMakeThisFillThePanel() method hiding somewhere I have missed in both the wxWidgets and the wxPython documents online? I'm obviously missing something in my mental model of layout. • Scala Actors with Java interop to underlying COM libraries

  I'm working on a JVM project which uses ESRI components (COM based, wrapped with JIntegra.) The client has requested the JAR files we produce work on the JVM and be accessible to Java code. I'd like to use Scala but I'm worried about how well the library will play with Scala's actors. Particularly I'm worried about the different mechanisms COM and Java employ to pass objects from one thread to another. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will they play nice? Edit: for clarification I noticed that when performing I/O on the ESRI DB that the CPU utilization is roughly 15%. I'd like to read each row and pass that row over to another actor for parsing. Then I could have several threads reading from the DB at once. The problem is that each row retrieved using ESRI's library is actually a Java wrapped COM object.

• Add jar to EAR in Eclipse

  I have several projects in an EAR in Eclipse. These projects themselves have dependency jar's on the build path marked as "do not export, do not contribute to others". Now in Eclipse I add jar's to the EAR via the EAR properties "Java EE Module Dependencies". I browse to the jar (add jar) and click ok. The jar is added to the list. When I click apply, the added jar is gone from the list, it cannot be found in other properties, it is contained in the hidden folder .settings in the file org.eclipse.wst.common.component. This behaviour does not make much sense to me, what am I missing?

• Magic behind R.java file

  Hi! Recently I have been having quite some problems with R.java file. Now I have decided to do a backup and delete the file to see what happens. Nothing happened, so I created an empty R.java file and hopped for the best. Now Eclipse seems to figure out that the file was tempered with and even issues a warning: R.java was modified manually! Reverting to generated version! And that's all there is. I tried building it manually but got no results. So, I have two questions: 1. what should I do to force Eclipse to generate the file 2. what is happening here? How is the file created, where is the code that is generating the file? I would appreciate any help. As usual the problem occurred just a few days before the deadline :)

  I am developing a Java EE web application using Struts. The problem is with Internet Explorer caching. If an user logs out he can access some pages because they are cached and no request is made. If I hit refresh it works fine. Also if an user goes to login page again it won't redirect him because that page is also cached. Two solutions come to my mind: Writing an Interceptor (servlet filter like) to add to response header no-cache etc. Or or put <meta> tags at each page. Which one should I do?

• Refresh backend in GWT development

  I am developing a GWT application that uses EJB and other Java EE 6 technology as the backend. I am currently using the GWT 2.0 plugin for Safari. When I change my GWT client side code and save in my IDE (NetBeans), all that's required is a simple reload in the browser for the changes to become active. That works great! However, often I work on the server-side (the EJBs, GWT server code, etc) and then something in on the GWT client side. Any changes done to the server-side do not appear to incrementally deploy to the Glassfish V3 server. Currently I close the GWT Development Mode application, and then recompile the EJBs, and then go back into GWT Development mode. That is tedious. Any better way of doing this? I tried the "deploy on save" option in NetBeans but it does not seem to do the trick.

• Maven 2.1.0 not passing on system properties to Java virtual machine

  We use the command line to pass on system properties to the Java virtual machine when running our Hudson builds on a Linux box. It used to work quite well in 2.0.9 by since we upgraded to 2.1.0 it has stopped working altogether. The system properties just never make it to the Java virtual machine. I have created a small test project and indeed it does not work at all. I have attached it in case you want to give it a go. The application's tabs appear at the same level as the window control buttons. My understanding is that I will need to: write a Windows widget capable of rendering the custom look and managing tabs as opposed to menus. expose the Windows widget as a dll for use in Java via JNI write a custom SWT widget to wrap it and expose the tab management interface. I have a lot of experience with Java programming, GUI programming with Swing/AWT, and non-GUI C# programming. Windows GUI programming and SWT are new to me so I'm not sure where to start. The best I have found so far is a 2001 article on writing your own SWT widget. My biggest unknown is the best way to implement a custom Windows application-window.

  I am trying to follow the recommended way of parsing XML with StAX using sun's Cursor-to-Event Example for Java EE 5. You are supposed to traverse the XML via the Cursor API and allocate an XMLEventusing an XMLEventAllocator when necessary. Awkwardly, sun's own example does not compile (at least not with JDK 1.6, even with 1.5 code compliance). The example tries to instantiate an allocator via new, but the according implementation classes in the JDK are not accessible externally. After reading the JavaDocs and searching the web I have found literally nothing. One could implement the XMLEventAllocator interface from scratch, but it seems really wrong, when there are perfectly good implementations in the JDK, besides not being an expert in StAX makes it difficult to get it right.

• Calling software modules (Java, Perl, etc.) from R

  I've recently started using R for Natural Language Processing tasks and find that a lot of applications are available in Java and Perl (for my purposes). For example: A few perl modules are available to find distance measures between words by querying Wordnet. I am aware of the R Wordnet package, but it does not perform the tasks that these CPAN modules do. Many Java packages for NLP are out there, which I'd like to use from within R. I know of rJava, RSPerl, the simple system command amongst others, but I'd like more examples of how I could make calls to Java and Perl applications from R. Recently I tried capturing console output from a perl script. cat( 'print "Hello World\n";',file="hello.pl" ) system(command="c:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl") system(command=paste(Sys.getenv("COMSPEC"),"/c","C:\Perl64\bin\perl hello.pl")) None of the above system commands showed 'Hello World' on the R console. I've used "system" before to run perl scripts to perform tasks without wanting to capture console output. Any hints and redirection to other more extensive sources of information would be highly appreciated. Thank you

• Laying out JPanels to make a simple GUI

  Hello, first of all, this is more or less my first GUI and ive learned Java for not more then a week, so it might contain some serious programming errors. What i have right now is: Buttons and labels are part of OptionPanel and are on the left, DrawingPanel is about 5x5 px in size and is on the right. What I am trying to do is a simple test, to get me more familiar with the GUI. The rectangle should be movable and re-sizeable by the user when clicking the respective buttons: http://www.upload.ee/image/612005/JFrame2.jpg Right now i have: JFrame MainFrame - Makes JFrame (Not using the setSize function. using .pack() instead. not sure about it) JPanel MergedPanel - FlowLayout - Adds JPanel OptionsPanel and JPanel DrawingPanel together and gets injected to JFrame MainFrame JPanel DrawPanel - This JPanel is responsible of drawing the rectangle. JPanel OptionPanel - FlowLayout - This JPanel is responsible of the buttons. Help please.

• How to find Junit tests that are using a given Java method directly or indirectly

  Assume there are Java project and Junit project in an Eclipse workspace. And All the unit tests are located in the Junit project and dependent on the application Java project. When making changes to a Java method, I need to find the unit tests that are using the method directly or indirectly, so that I can run the corresponding tests locally in my PC before checking into source control. I don't want to run the entire junit project since it takes time. I could use Eclipse call hierarchy to expand caller methods one by one until I find a test method. But for a project including more than 1 million lines of source code, digging down the call hierarchy takes time too. The search scope within call hierarchy view doesn't seem help much. Appreciate any help.

• Reduce text length to fit cell width in a smart manner

  Hello, I am in project where we are building a simple web calendar using Java EE technologies. We define a table where every row is an employee, and every column represents an hour interval. The table width and column widths are adjustable. In every cell we have a text retrieved from a database, indicating what the employee is doing / should do in that time interval. The problem is that sometimes the text in cells is getting bigger than the actual cell. My task is to make the text more "readable" by reducing it's length in a "smart way" so that it can fit in the cell more "gracefully". For example if initially in a cell I have: "Writing documents", after the resize I should retrieve: "Wrtng. dcmnts" or "Writ. docum." so that the text can fit well. Is there a smart way to do it ? Or removing vocals / split the string in two is enough ?
