• "Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" windows XP, outlook 2007, connect to exchange using HTTP

  Hey, I can't connect to an exchange server using windows XP and outlook 2007, using the "connect anywhere over HTTP" process, it has been working until recently and the user reports no recent changes to his environment. The error is "Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action" It will prompt me for the username and password which I can enter, then it will give the errorm however this only happens when I delete the account and enter all details for the excahnge server again. The client computer that is unable to connect using outlook can connect to the HTTPS mail service and login send/receive fine. Nobody else has reported issues. making a test environment with a clean install of XP and outlook 2007 gives the same error, but using windows 7 and outlook 2007 connects perfectly fine everytime. I also removed all passwords using control keymgr.dll which didnt help. Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated, at this point nothing I've tried from technet or google works <_<

  I'm using nginx reverse proxy cache with gzip enabled. However, I got some problems from android applications http requests to my rails json web service. It seems when I turn off reverse proxy cache, it works ok because the response header comes without gzip. Therefore, I think the problem caused from gzip. What is the most appropriate level of gzip compression? gzip on; gzip_http_version 1.0; gzip_vary on; gzip_comp_level 6; gzip_proxied any; gzip_types text/plain text/css text/javascript application/javascript application/json application/x-javascript text/xml application/xml application/xml+rss;

It’s no secret that here at Solidsoft we are extremely proud of our association with the Government’s Tell Us Once (TUO) programme. • Windows 7 disc not recognized by DVD drive

  My machine is a recent model Systemax, less than 2 years old. It came with Vista 32bit and I bought Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade for it. When I insert the Windows 7 DVD into the drive, it churns a little but does not recognize the disc. If I double click the DVD drive icon, it prompts me to insert a disc. I tried a different DVD (Office 2007) and the drive recognized the disc. I tried the Windows 7 disc in my Dell laptop and it recognized the disc. So basically, the disc is good and the drive is good, but they don't like each other. I tried to boot to the Windows 7 DVD and the system did not see it. I turned off the Lightscribe service and that didn't help. Does anybody have an idea what's wrong here? Thanks.

• Monitoring System for the cloud?

  I need a monitoring system, much like ganglia / nagios that is build for the cloud. I need it to support : Adding / removing nodes dynamically. (Node shuts down, dose not imply node failure...) Dynamic node based categorization, meaning node can identify them self as being part of group X (ganglia gets this almost right, but lacks the dynamic part...) Does not require multicast support (generally not allowed in cloud based setups) Plugins for recent cool stuff such as Hadoop, Cassandra, Mongo would be cool. More features include: External API, web interface and co. I've looked at Ganglia, munin and they both seem be almost there (but not exactly). I would also go for reasonably priced Software as Service solution. I'm currently doing research, so Suggestions are highly appreciated. Thank you, Maxim

• Deployment Workbench no longer available after PXE boot

  Our build process revolves around windows Deployment Workbench. Unfortunately this was setup by someone who is no longer with the company, and no-one has ever dared/needed to make any changes. The other day it stopped working. It turns out that one of our build guys started thinking about changing some stuff in it, clicked something and now it no longer works (He is saying now that he right clicked on the 'LAB' entry in 'Deployment points' and hit 'Update', which took some time to run through apparently). The job has fallen on me to resolve and frankly I'm not sure what I'm doing. I was wondering if someone with more experience than me can provide some pointers as to troubleshooting cos I'm feeling quite a lot in the dark here. On the server I have Deployment Workbench up and running (MMC snapin) version 3.0. There is a WDS service that appears to be running ok, as does the tFTPd service. Nothing specific to this in event logs. From the client side; PXE boot works and gets you to the Win PE launch, and it has the correct company logo as the background (proving to me that its loading win PE from the network). WPEINIT runs, and asks for domain credentials, here the team simply put User/Pass/Domain in the boxes and click ok. Normally the build would kick off. Instead they get an error message saying that the \NATBLU01\Distribution$ share isn't available. Checking \NATBLU01\Distribution$ shows that its there and accessible over the network. Security/permissions seem ok, even 'ANONYMOUS LOGON' has read access to that share so I don't see that being a problem. Digging the trace files from C:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS\ after an attempt to run the build I can see an error saying much the same - <![LOG[Validating connection to \\NATBLU01\Distribution$]LOG]!><time="16:42:14.000+000" date="03-15-2012" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[FindFile: The file OSDConnectToUNC.exe could not be found in any standard locations.]LOG]!><time="16:42:14.000+000" date="03-15-2012" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troubleshooting, see Windows Help.]LOG]!><time="16:42:24.000+000" date="03-15-2012" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="3" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[ERROR - Unable to map a network drive to \\NATBLU01\Distribution$.]LOG]!><time="16:42:24.000+000" date="03-15-2012" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="3" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> BDD.LOG shows much the same. Full copies of the .LOG files can both files be found here : BDD.LOG LITETOUCH.LOG I can get to a command prompt from the Win PE that boots from PXE, however there isn't any network stuff there. IPCONFIG returns nothing so none of the tests I would usually run resolve anything. I'm at a loss frankly. I did wonder if I could perhaps start a new build process but if the change to the DeploymentWorkbench has knocked it offline I don't think I'm going to be able to create a new deployment. Failing that; we do have a deployment point labeled type 'Media' which appears to be a DVD ISO image of one of the builds, but its dated 2008, is it possible to export the network build to .ISO and build from DVD? We are looking at new hardware to run this from anyway (for the impending Windows 7 roll out) so a temporary work round isn't going to be too much of a problem. All assistance is appreciated! EDIT : OK. Got it working again. Solution was close to Newmanth's idea. The problem was that our PE image didn't appear to be connecting the network. I had an older copy of the PE boot.WIM on a stick that I had been using for other purposes. I booted that and correctly got a network connection. Showed a correct internal IP and could ping out etc etc. However I was still getting the same errors in all the logs and in when wpeinit was running. What I did seperately was to update the PE image that DeploymentWorkbench was pushing out to display a different back ground. I wanted to prove that I was working in the correct place. Turns out that I wasn't. I went and looked at the other deployment stuff we had on this machine, Windows Deployment Services was installed and although all the install images are off line the boot image was online, so I uploaded the copy from my stick to that. Booted straight off. And fixed. Working. Yay! For anyone stumbling across this in the future you may find that although your deployment images are located in the DeploymentWorkbench, the Win PE boot image you are launching from is located in the associated Windows Deployment Services images.

• dd-wrt Bonjour/ netbios etc on two subnets

  Hi I was wondering if any clever people out there could help me. I have a network setup with two different subnets 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.0.0 one router is connected to a VPN (via OpenVPN) the other is not. Both routers have static routes to each other and a device on one can communicate to another without issues when using IP addresses. My problem is I want to use services like Bonjour, Netbios and Apple Talk across the two networks, which currently does not work. A laptop connected on one subnet will not see a laptop connected on another. Is there anyway that you can connect the two networks together so these sort of local service will work??? I guess I have to forward the boardcast packets but I have no idea how to do this. Thanks for any help...

• cannot connect to MS FTP 7.5 on Windows 2008 on Amazon EC2 instance

  I have just installed the MS FTP 7.5 upgrade on my Windows 2008 Server (Service Pack 2) running on an Amazon EC2 instance. In the FTP Firewall Support settings for the server in IIS Manager I have set up the passive port range 45001 - 45005 and also set the External Firewall IP address to match the assigned Amazon Elastic IP address. Using the AWS Console I changed the Security Group for the server to allow access to the server through ports 21 and 45001 through 45005. Using an FTP client (either the command line FTP client or Windows Explorer) on the Amazon server I can connect to the FTP server but I cannot connect with an external FTP client. When I checked to see which ports were open on the server using Shields Up it shows that port 21 is open but ports 45001 to 45005 are closed. I assume I'm missing something. Any help greatly appreciated.

  Customers who have run the Upgrade Wage Attachments process after applying the 2012 RUP are reporting errors similar to those listed below when either running a quickpay or processing a payroll for employee(s) with involuntary deductions. Error: HR_51118_HRPROC_ERR_ON_ASG ASGNO 1115 APP-PAY-51118: Error was encountered when processing assignment 1115 HR_51119_HRPROC_ERR_OCC_ON_ET ETNAME: Garnishment 3 APP-PAY-51119: Error was encountered when processing Element Type Garnishment 3 HR_6881_HRPROC_ORA_ERR SQLERRMC ORA-01403: No data found SQL_NO 520 TABLE_NAME pay_input_values_f APP-PAY-06881:Error ORA-01403: no data found has occured in table pay_input_values_f at location 520 This issue was logged in Bug 14679161 - QUICK PAY ERROR AFTER RUP (2012) AND WAGE ATTACHMENT UPGRADE APP-PAY-06881. The following one off patches have been released to My Oracle Support to resolve this issue*: 11i -  Patch 14679161 12.0 - Patch 14849394:R12.PAY.A 12.1 - Patch 14849394:R12.PAY.B * IMPORTANT:  Depending on when/if customers have run the Wage Attachment upgrade process will determine the appropriate action to take. • Free DNS software with failover support?

  I'm looking for DNS software that can accomplish the following: Check health of all A records at set intervals If server is unresponsive after multiple successive checks, replace A record with a working server When a server is down, check it periodically. Once it's up, restore normal A records Here's an equivalent I thought of: Run DNS servers with very low TTL (minutes) Use a cron job to periodically query all webservers Use sed to replace A records if need be, and then restart DNS server I have a hard time believing there isn't already something that can accomplish the above. I'm not looking for a paid service, and I'm restricted to anything I can run with root access to a VPS. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

  I'm a software developer and don't have much experience as a sysadmin. I developed a web app and was considering buying a server and hosting the web app on it. Is this a huge undertaking for a web developer? What's the level of difficulty of maintaining a server and keeping up with the latest security patches and all that kind of fun stuff. I'm a single user, and not planning to sell the service to others. Can someone also recommend an OS for my case, and maybe some good learning resources that's concise and not too overwhelming.

• Displaying Exceptions Thrown or Caught in Managed Beans

  Just came a cross a sample written by Steve Muench, which somewhere deep in its implementation details uses the following code to route exceptions to the ADF binding layer to be handled by the ADF model error handler (which can be customized by overriding the DCErrorHandlerImpl class and configuring the custom class in DataBindings.cpx file) To route an exception to the ADFm error handler, Steve used the following code ((DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry()).reportException(ex); The same code however can be used in managed beans as well to enforce consistent error handling in ADF. As an example, lets assume a managed bean method hits an exception. To simulate this, let's use the following code: public void onToolBarButtonAction(ActionEvent actionEvent) {    throw new JboException("Just to tease you !!!!!");        } The exception shows at runtime as displayed in the following image: Assuming a try-catch block is used to intercept the exception caused by a managed bean action, you can route the error message display to the ADF model error handler. Again, let's simulate the code that would need to go into a try-catch block public void onToolBarButtonAction(ActionEvent actionEvent) {    JboException ex = new JboException("Just to tease you !!!!!");  BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();    ((DCBindingContainer)bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry()).reportException(ex); } The error now displays as shown in the image below As you can see, the error is now handled by the ADFm Error handler, which - as mentioned before - could be a custom error handler. Using the ADF model error handling for displaying exceptions thrown in managed beans require the current ADF Faces page to have an associated PageDef file (which is the case if the page or view contains ADF bound components). Note that to invoke methods exposed on the business service it is recommended to always work through the binding layer (method binding) so that in case of an error the ADF model error handler is automatically used.

• MySQL port 3306 blocked in csf yet can still telnet to port 3306 from external host

  We have a Centos 6 VPS that was recently migrated to a new machine within the same web hosting company. It's running WHM/cPanel and has csf/lfd installed. csf is set up with mostly vanilla config. I'm no iptables expert, csf has not let me down before. If a port isn't in the TCP_IN list, it should be blocked on the firewall by iptables. My problem is that I can telnet to port 3306 from an external host, yet I think iptables ought to be blocking 3306 because of csf's rules. We are now failing a security check because of this open port. (this output is obfuscated to protect the innocent: www.ourhost.com is the host with the firewall problem) [root@nickfenwick log]# telnet www.ourhost.com 3306 Trying 158.255.45.107... Connected to www.ourhost.com. Escape character is '^]'. HHost 'nickfenwick.com' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL serverConnection closed by foreign host. So the connection is established, and MySQL refuses the connection due to its configuration. I need the network connection to be refused at the firewall level, before it reaches MySQL. • Remotely connecting to a Hyper-V hosted VM's console.

  Hi everyone. I've just managed to successfully move an aging beige box into a Hyper-V virtual machine. We used to use the beige box by walking over and sitting at the computer itself, but we can't do that so easily when its inside the Hyper-V system. Is there a way please to access the VM's console from a workstation running XP Pro? Please note that its an obscure OS running inside the VM, so installing a VNC or similar service inside the VM is not an option. Many thanks.

• Can't get lines around table borders/cells [migrated]

  I have several web pages containing tables, for which I'd like to have line-borders around the tables and the cells. In fact, some of these pages existed for several years already, and rendered acceptly in IE6, IE7. We switched about 6 months ago to a completely different set of style sheets to change our site look and feel. We also switched to "modern" browsers such as IE8 (and because I couldn't stop Vista) to IE9. Now the borders don't render at all. I spent a day fighting with this about a month ago, and failed to fix it. It seemed that I could reduce the page down to just the barest table and IE8 would still not render the border. I think I decided IE8 was just buggy, but I'm not an HTML expert so it is more likely that I'm buggy. (I'm just getting back to this; I'll go see if I can find that reduced page).   Hello everybody, Recently I have had a MainBoard-problem. I've send my mainboard to service and today I got it back from the company. It is a Foxconn 520a mainboard. Now I have installed my exchanged mainboard. But now I have a problem. My system boots until the device list with IRQ entries appear. The system says "Verifying DMI-pool-data..." and nothing happens. The IRQ-device list shows that the memory-controller is not available. All other devices have got an IRQ. Bus No. Device No. Func No. Vendor/Device Class Device Class IRQ 0 0 0 10DE 0547 0500 Memory Controller NA Do you have any ideas where the problem could be? I already have disconnected all unnecessary devices like the hard disks. Perhaps it is a BIOS problem, but I don't know where I should look. Would be nice if there is any advice, Greetings, Martin

  Hey, I'm currently managing a terminal server in a domain. As the TS-service just got installed, previous users (I logged in with every user once to test it and set up a few things) use the default windows 2008 theme. New users automatically use the fancy Aero theme. Is there a way to push the Aero theme to all current users? I currently have something like this in my policies: However, when logging in with a user, the theme is not changed. Only if I disable "prohibit access to the control panel", the theme can be changed (doesn't seem to change automatically). But this gives them access to every other control panel feature as well. And giving users only access to "desk.cpl" CP-applet, gives them an access error as well when attempting to change the theme. Another question: can I, as admin, take over and/or log in as another user when that user is not logged in? Thanks

  I have to configure an ubuntu hardy server network interface. The service hoster told me that this is the network data for the machine: IP Range: 111.111.200.74 to 111.111.200.78 Netmask: 255.255.255.248 Broadcast: 111.111.200.79 Gateway: 111.111.200.73 Subnet: 111.111.200.72/29 I am only using the first IP address. I will update the /etc/hosts file with 111.111.200.74, but I am still unsure how the /etc/network/interfaces file should be. This is my plan: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 111.111.200.74 netmask 255.255.255.248 network 111.111.200.??? broadcast 111.111.200.79 gateway 111.111.200.73 As you can see I don't know how to build the network line. How would I calculate the data for the network line and what is the result? (I changed the first 2 octets of the subnet, they are not "111.111" in the real setup.)

• Replication from OSX OpenDirectory to OpenLDAP

  I have an OpenDirectory server running on an OSX Server machine, and I'd like to increase the reliability of the service by having a slave server. The problem is, I only have 1 OSX Server but I have plenty of Linux servers available. I'm happy with Apple's tools that integrate with OpenDirectory, but given Apple's recent discontinuation of the XServe, I'm not particularly interested in continuing with Apple hardware. I remember hearing that OpenDirectory is (now-distantly) based off the OpenLDAP code base; is there any way I could replicate from OpenDirectory to OpenLDAP instead of having to purchase another OSX server?
