• Resize content for "frame" on .aspx page which draws product content from suppliers' page

  I have a retail store site, no online sales, which displays the webpage of our supplier in a "frame" in order to have the most accurate and up to date information for our customers. (example) My issue is that the size of the page it is pulling in doesn't fit in the frame. It looks pretty poor, and part of the content is obscured. Is there a way to scale the content drawn in to the size of the frame? The same site also has an intermittent issue with the Flash banner loading. When it doesn't load, the layout of the header on the page is awful. Any ideas there will also be appreciated.

• How to control fan speed and temperatures on Asus A8Js laptop running Ubuntu Server?

  Hi, I have tried installing asusfan and lm-sensors but I'm unable to control my fans to cool my laptop down sufficiently. Currently it overheats at about 100 degrees celsius and my sensors output somehow does not have any fan information on it: jackson@OLYMPIA:~$ sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1: +69.0°C (crit = +110.0°C) coretemp-isa-0000 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 0: +66.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) coretemp-isa-0001 Adapter: ISA adapter Core 1: +66.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C) I have checked my bios and there isn't any fan settings there. I can consistently overheat just by converting a video via Handbrake. I have ubuntu-desktop installed for a GUI. Is there a way for me to control my fans to start spinning before it reaches a critical temperature and kills itself?

• Value of links on negative review pages

  A general assumption with SEO is more links = higher rankings. What I would like to know is does Google know what those links are referring to. I.e. if somebody gives a product a good review on their personal blog and links the review to another companies website (who are selling the product), would Google take consideration for the review/description link. Essentially would Google know that this link refers to a product. So if somebody is looking to buy a product, Google would know to include this page because the previous link said it sells products rather than just having information on products. Then to take this further, does Google know if a link is positive or negative. For example, If somebody creates a post saying, do not visit example.com, example.com is bad because of blah blah blah. Would Google know that the link is getting bad feedback and therefore would it have a negative affect on rankings, or would Google go oh its just another link and give it better rankings?

• Orchard shapeshifting

  I've shown in a previous post how to make it easier to change the layout template for specific contents or areas. But what if you want to change another shape template for specific pages, for example the main Content shape on the home page? Here's how. When we changed the layout, we had the problem that layout is created very early, so early that in fact it can't know what content is going to be rendered. For that reason, we had to rely on a filter and on the routing information to determine what layout template alternates to add. This time around, we are dealing with a content shape, a shape that is directly related to a content item. That makes things a little easier as we have access to a lot more information. The first thing we want to do in this event handler is check that we are on the front-end, displaying the "Detail" version, and not the "Summary" or the admin editor: if (displaying.ShapeMetadata.DisplayType == "Detail") { Now I want to provide the ability for the theme developer to provide an alternative template named "Content-HomePage.cshtml" for the home page. In order to determine if we are indeed on the home page I can look at the current site's home page property, which for the default home page provider contains the home page item's id at the end after a semicolon. Compare that with the content item id for the shape we are looking at and you can know if that's the homepage content item. Please note that if that content is also displayed on another page than the home page it will also get the alternate: we are altering at the shape level and not at the URL/routing level like we did with the layout. • Is it possible to stream music/video from an Apache server?

  I'm just starting to get into setting up a server. I've set up a basic Apache server to access some songs and movies. When I click one of the songs though, nothing happens. When I click one of the movies, sometimes it will open a new web page and act as though it is going to start playing, but never does. I know Apache is HTTP, not FTP and read somewhere that that could be a problem, but I'm uncertain of the differences. Anyway, is it possible to click on one of the songs and have it start streaming using, for example, Windows Media Player? If so, might someone either explain how to do so or direct me to where I can find it? Any information on retrieving media from an Apache server at this point would be most appreciated. -Edit- I don't know if it matters, but I'm using Windows 7 and Google Chrome

• Set up Java path for terminal

  Trying to set up a path for the terminal. I already have Eclipse running great. Dual os between windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04. However, I would prefer to run everything out of Ubuntu, just not very experienced and all the forums I have searched are not giving me the step by step answers I need to make this happen. I included a screen shot of some information about my version etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point I've put 10+ hours into this and this is my last resort.

  We have a Legislative Alert for our customers using PeopleSoft Payroll for North America.   The IRS has made some changes to the FUTA reporting for the tax year 2011.  The IRS requires that all employers complete the 940 Schedule A form when completing the Tax Form 940.  On the Schedule A employers must indicate every state in which you were required to pay state unemployment tax during the year (even if that state's credit reduction rate was zero).  For states with a credit reduction rate greater than zero you must enter the FUTA taxable wages paid in that state then multiply it by the credit reduction rate to report the credit reduction amount for that state.  Please go to Document ID 1371681.1 to obtain additional information on this regulation along with Oracle/PeopleSoft position on this new requirement.

• Why does 12.04 freeze when using multiple desktops?

  I am using 12.04 32-bit, upgraded from 11.10. Within the last week and a half Unity has hung on me with no option but a hard reboot, which I hate. It usually happens when I am using multiple desktops and applications and switching desktops. The screen just hangs, sometimes broken between desktops and applications, I can move my mouse but cannot click on anything. alt+f2 , HUD , super+w/s/d and alt+tab/~ does nothing, they do not activate. I let it rest for 15-20 minutes in hopes it will sort itself out but nothing. I'd hate to move to Unity 2D, but I can't risk having to do hard reboots/shutdowns, or moving to a different DE.   SharePoint 2010 Training: more information You know that ECB Menu in SharePoint 2007? Well in SharePoint 2010 you can very easily move it around on any column you wish. What you do is, open the view in SharePoint Designer, then you click on the field you wish to see the ECB menu in, then you will see a little floatie button with this on it ">", then, you click on that floatie, and it shows a little popup with 2 checkboxes in it. "Common xsl:value-of Tasks"- Show List Item Menu- Show Link To Item You check the "Show List Item Menu" checkbox, and off you go - now the ECB menu is available on the other column. Enjoy! • Automatically adding CD box art so that I can put it on my iPod.

  I know it's possible to automatically find CD covers for albums, because rhythmbox is doing it on the fly. (When I listen to stuff, it finds the CD cover online...) What I want is to get this information onto my ipod. As it stands pretty much all my songs have the default blank CD cover... I use gtkpod to transfer music to it. This needs to be an automatic process, because I have a large music library and I'm lazy and it's not exactly an important thing... I rip CDs I buy with the basic CD extractor, so all the files are in a Artist/Album/song.mp3 structure. (Yes I know, mp3 is evil, but iPod doesn't like .ogg so whatever)

• Install Opera on 64-bit

  I tried to follow the instructions on the opera page, but it didn't work. I was assuming the base install should be the same for 64-bit, but it doesn't look so. After executing wget -qO - http://deb.opera.com/archive.key | sudo apt-key add - successfully sudo apt-get install opera says Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package opera is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'opera' has no installation candidate Below on the page I see A 64 bit Linux version is available, you should get it automatically either from the repositories or from Opera I haven't tried to download it manually, since I prefer to get it from a repo. It it possible?

• would a composite design pattern be useful for group membership?

  I'm trying to think about the best way to handle group memberships on a website. People sign up and select checkboxes in a list of interests. Every week we send out interest-themed emails to those members that indicated that interest. however i store the information in the database, while i am working with the lists and generating lists of email addresses or manipulating group memberships, the composite design pattern looked interesting. it would be easy to populate the group, then do some aggregating functions that say... generate the list of email addresses based on the interests. but i'm not sure i'm seeing any other advantages. i do need something scalable, and flexible. thoughts?

• easy visualization of usage statistics (web app)

  I have some usage queries for my web app's database, the results of which I want to display graphically. Is there an easy-to-use api that exists for this purpose? I want to show things like average query-time per user (a small user-base), average query time per day, and things like that. I think it would be cool to show these on a two-axis graph. I am displaying this data on my site, so a jQuery/javascript/html solution for rendering information into graphs would be ideal. Thank you :) P.S. I wasn't sure if I should ask this on SO, but I am looking more for which product to use, not how to program with it.

• Are python's cryptographic modules good enough?

  I mean, say you were writing professional grade software that would involve sensitive client information. (Take this in the context of me being an amateur programmer.) Would you use hlib and hmac? Are they good enough to secure data? Or would you write something fancier by hand? Edit: In context of those libraries containing more or less the best hashing algorithms in the world, I guess it's silly to ask if you'd "write something fancier." What I'm really asking here is whether it's enough on its own.

• Displaying thumbnails in google search results for flash games?

  Some sites are somehow displaying video preview thumbnails for pages that contain flash games in google search results. For example search for: site:www.thorgaming.com game I see this only on small sites which makes me believe google is not very happy about it. How do they do it and is it ok with google? I assume they are submitting thumbnails through video sitemaps, but I can't find any information about using them with flash games. I also run a few such sites through rich snipped testing tool and it didn't detect any microdata tags on a page.

• jpegexiforient does not seem to work in 12.04

  In Ubuntu 12.04, the jpegexiforient command doesn't seem to work. I've got a .jpg file for which exif clearly shows (correct) EXIF orientation information, but running jpegexiforient on the file returns nothing. I don't particularly care about that command, but it makes exifautotran not work. I could (and might) rewrite that script to use exif instead, but I'm just wondering if there's something dumb I'm just doing wrong. I found this somewhat old bug report but its suggestion of running exif to update the setting didn't make any difference. Does jpegexiforient work for anybody?

• unmet dependencies updating Intel graphics driver

  I am trying to update my graphics driver by running: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-intel But I keep getting this message: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: xserver-xorg-video-intel : Depends: xorg-video-abi-11 E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. When I run: sudo apt-get install -f Nothing happens, because the program doesn't even get half way to installing. I am running Lubuntu 12.04 on a HP Mini 110 netbook. I have tried changing to several different ppa's but that doesn't work. I want to update my driver so that my mouse stops flickering and ScummVM stops flickering every minute.
