• Accessing web.config from Sharepoint web part

  I have a VS 2008 web parts project - in this project is a web.config file: something like this: <?xml version="1.0"?> <configuration> <connectionStrings/> <system.web> <appSettings> <add key="MFOwner" value="Blah" /> </appSettings> ……. In my web part I am trying to access values in the appSetting section: I've tried all of the code below and each returns null: string Owner = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get("MFOwner"); string stuff1 = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MFOwner"]; string stuff3 = WebConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MFOwner"]; string stuff4 = WebConfigurationManager.AppSettings.Get("MFOwner"); string stuff2 = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["MFowner".ToString()]; I've tried this code I found: NameValueCollection sAll; sAll = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings; string a; string b; foreach (string s in sAll.AllKeys) { a = s; b = sAll.Get(s); } and stepped through it in debug mode - that is getting things like : FeedCacheTimer FeedPageURL FeedXsl1 ReportViewerMessages which is NOT coming from anything in my web.config file....maybe a config file in sharepoint itself? • Flex 4 - Highlight keywords in a block of text using TextLine

  I have a search and results page that I would like to highlight the keywords that were searched for, in the text of the results. It was suggested that I use TextLine for this, but I am having trouble figuring out how to make it work.   I am trying to build an java web application using struts2 and tiles in Google App Engine. • HDFS some datanodes of cluster are suddenly disconnected while reducers are running

  I have 8 slave computers and 1 master computer for running Hadoop (ver 0.21) some datanodes of cluster are suddenly disconnected while I was running MapReduce code on 10GB data After all mappers finished and around 80% of reducers was processed, randomly one or more datanode disconned from network. and then the other datanodes start to disappear from network even if I killed the MapReduce job when I found some datanode was disconnected. • Store variables during loop and use in it another template

  Is there a way to store a variable/param during a for-each loop in a sort of array, and use it in another template, namely <xsl:template match="Foundation.Core.Classifier.feature">. All the classname values that appear during the for-each should be stored. How would you implement that in XSLT? But for some reason I can't figure out how to access that property. • What should the standard be for ReSTful URLS?

  Since I can't find a chuffing job, I've been reading up on ReST and creating web services. The way I've interpreted it, the future is all about creating a web service for all your data before you build the web app. Which seems like a good idea. However, there seems to be a lot of contradictory thoughts on what the best scheme is for ReSTful URLs. Some people advocate simple pretty urls http://api.myapp.com/resource/1 In addition, some people like to add the API version to the url like so http://api.myapp.com/v1/resource/1 And to make things even more confusing, some people advocate adding the content-type to get requests http://api.myapp.com/v1/resource/1.xml http://api.myapp.com/v1/resource/1.json http://api.myapp.com/v1/resource/1.txt Whereas others think the content-type should be sent in the HTTP header. Soooooooo.... That's a lot of variation, which has left me unsure of what the best URL scheme is. I personally see the merits of the most comprehensive URL that includes a version number, resource locator and content-type, but I'm new to this so I could be wrong. On the other hand, you could argue that you should do "whatever works best for you". But that doesn't really fit with the ReST mentality as far as I can tell since the aim is to have a standard. And since a lot of you people will have more experience than me with ReST, I thought I'd ask for some guidance. So, with all that in mind... What should the standard be for ReSTful URLS?

• How do I POST/GET from rails to API with either ActiveResource or rest-client (preferred)?

  Hi, this is a pretty basic question but I'm not entirely clear how to do this. I am trying to use a third-party service that has RESTful service. The service is called Postful. But I'm not clear what exactly to do? I've looked at ActiveResource (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveResource/Base.html) and rest-client, but I'm still not clear exactly what steps, code, and files to create. http://www.postful.com/service/mail is one of the services (details found http://www.postful.com/developer/guide#rest ), but to upload an image I have to post the following (but I'm not sure how I actually do this?). • hibernate c3p0 broken pipe

  Hi, I'm using hibernate 3 with c3p0 for a program which constantly extracts data from some source and writes it to a database. Now the problem is, that the database might become unavailable for some reasons (in the simplest case: i simply shut it down). If anything is about to be written to the database there should not be any exception - the query should wait for all eternity until the database becomes available again. If I'm not mistaken this is one of the things the connection pool could do for me: if there is a problem with the db, just retry to connect - in the worst case for infinity. But instead i get a broken pipe exception, sometimes followed by connection refused and then the exception is passed to my own code, which shouldn't happen. Even if I catch the exception, how could i cleanly reinitialize hibernate again? (So far without c3p0 i simply built the session factory again, but i wouldn't be surprised if that could leak connections (or is it ok to do so?)). The database is Virtuoso open source edition. • Ant fails without message at javac

  I've written an Ant build.xml file which obtains a number of source files via WSDL and compiles them. These have been working on an old, now destroyed (and therefore unavailable for comparison), system but the build process isn't completing on this newer, faster system. The relevant section of the build file looks like this: <target name="compile" depends="init"> <java classname="org.apache.axis.wsdl.WSDL2Java"> <arg line="--all --server-side --skeletonDeploy --factory --wrapArrays --output src ${srcurl}" /> </java> <javac srcdir="${src}" destdir="${build}" verbose="yes" /> </target> The files are downloaded via the WSDL service successfully, however after that point Ant simply stops & returns to the commandline. Versions of the relevant apps: # java -version java version "1.6.0_14" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode) # javac -version javac 1.6.0_14 # ant -version Apache Ant version 1.6.5 compiled on January 6 2007 I'm assuming that there's a problem with javac that Ant isn't passing back. Is there any way I can get some debugging information from javac? I've tried adding a <record /> tag to the target but that doesn't give any more information than running ant -v does. Any other suggestions would be great, also!

• Java: Efficiency of the readLine method of the BufferedReader and possible alternatives

  We are working to reduce the latency and increase the performance of a process written in Java that consumes data (xml strings) from a socket via the readLine() method of the BufferedReader class. The data is delimited by the end of line separater (\n), and each line can be of a variable length (6KBits - 32KBits). Our code looks like: Socket sock = connection; InputStream in = sock.getInputStream(); BufferedReader inputReader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(in)); ... do { String input = inputReader.readLine(); // Executor call to parse the input thread in a seperate thread }while(true) So I have a couple of questions: Will the inputReader.readLine() method return as soon as it hits the \n character or will it wait till the buffer is full? Is there a faster of picking up data from the socket than using a BufferedReader? What happens when the size of the input string is smaller than the size of the Socket's receive buffer? What happens when the size of the input string is bigger than the size of the Socket's receive buffer? I am getting to grips (slowly) with Java's IO libraries, so any pointers are much appreciated. • Problem loading scripts from Ajax Response

  The problem is I am using get_info() to make a ajax call to Result.lasso and paste the response in div with id 'test'.I am unable to use the sendForm() function from the page where i am calling the get_info(). I have also tried using different versions of jQuery 1.1.1.3 is working fine.But i am facing the problem while using higher versions of jquery. • Long running operations (threads) in a web (asp.net) environment

  I have an asp.net (mvc) web site. As the part of the functions I will have to support some long running operations, for example: Initiated from user: User can upload (xml) file to the server. On the server I need to extract file, do some manipulation (insert into the db) etc... This can take from one minute to ten minutes (or even more - depends on file size). Of course I don't want to block the request when the import is running , but I want to redirect user to some progress page where he will have a chance to watch the status, errors or even cancel the import. This operation will not be frequently used, but it may happen that two users at the same time will try to import the data. It would be nice to run the imports in parallel. At the beginning I was thinking to create a new thread in the iis (controller action) and run the import in a new thread. But I am not sure if this is a good idea (to create working threads on a web server). Should I use windows services or any other approach? Initiated from system: - I will have to periodically update lucene index with the new data. - I will have to send mass emails (in the future). Should I implement this as a job in the site and run the job via Quartz.net or should I also create a windows service or something? What are the best practices when it comes to running site "jobs"? • Why are Managed Beans not loaded in Tomcat?

  Hi, I created a JSF 2 web application with facelets. The libs for JSF where stored at tomcat/lib, to share it between several applications. I thought maybe it would be better to store the libs inside the WEB-INF/lib folder of the application, to get the application more independent from server configurations. Now when I start tomcat via eclipse, the managed beans are loaded and working. But when I start tomcat directly / standalone the managed beans are not loaded automatically. I used @ManagedBean @SessionScoped / @RequestScoped annotations to declare classes as managed beans. Why is this? What can I do to fix it? I don't use any faces-config.xml file yet.   Well, I have an ActiveX (*.ocx) component, and i use it in a managed C++/CLI project: write a managed wrapper around ActiveX component[ NET has a great Interop services : provides me genarated dll so i can easily use it in my managed code] The problem is that Visual Studio (2008) automatically copy the generated Interop *.dll to the directory where my *.exe file stay.But i want put all my genarated Interop *.dll to a folder ... Suppose My directory structure is so: D:\MyProject\Output\MyProject.exe //My mamanged exe D:\MyProject\Output\Interop.XXXLib.1.0.dll // *Interop .dll I want to put Interop.XXXLib.1.0.dll into new folder D:\MyProject\Output\Interops and use it from that directory...How Can i do it? Basically when clicking "Like", we get an error saying: You failed to provide a valid list of administators. • Enabling new admin action(button sales_order/view) in ACL

  Hi, We created new action similar to 'hold', 'ship' and others in the 'sales_order/view' admin section that can be triggered by clicking at the button. Afterward, we added our new action to the ACL with the following code in config.xml: <acl> <resources> <admin> <children> <sales> <children> <order> <children> <actions translate="title"> <title>Actions</title> <children> <shipNew translate="title"><title>Ship Ups</title></shipNew> </children> </actions> </children> <sort_order>10</sort_order> </order> </children> </sales> </children> </admin> </resources> </acl> ACL functionality works, however, in the 'Resources Tree'(System/Permissions/Roles/Role Resources) our new action does never show up as selected(checked) even thou it is allowed for particular Role. I can see that from table 'admin_rule' with resource id for our new action that it is allowed, so it needs to be selected, but it is not. When trying to solve this issue i looked into the template(permissions/rolesedit.phtml) and I found that the 'resource tree' is draw with Javascript...thats where i got stock due to my limited knowledge in Javascript. Why the resource tree does not display our new ACL entry correctly, that is the check box is never checked? Thank You for helping margots

• Is there a useDirtyFlag option for Tomcat 6 cluster configuration?

  In Tomcat 5.0.x you had the ability to set useDirtyFlag="false" to force replication of the session after every request rather than checking for set/removeAttribute calls. <Cluster className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.SimpleTcpCluster" managerClassName="org.apache.catalina.cluster.session.SimpleTcpReplicationManager" expireSessionsOnShutdown="false" **useDirtyFlag="false"** doClusterLog="true" clusterLogName="clusterLog"> ... The comments in the server.xml stated this may be used to make the following work: <% HashMap map = (HashMap)session.getAttribute("map"); map.put("key","value"); %> i.e. change the state of an object that has already been put in the session and you can be sure that this object still be replicated to the other nodes in the cluster. According to the Tomcat 6 documentation you only have two "Manager" options - DeltaManager & BackupManager ... neither of these seem to allow this option or anything like it. In my testing the default setup: <Cluster className="org.apache.catalina.ha.tcp.SimpleTcpCluster"/> where you get the DeltaManager by default, it's definitely behaving as useDirtyFlag="true" (as I'd expect). So my question is - is there an equivalent in Tomcat 6? Looking at the source I can see a manager implementation "org.apache.catalina.ha.session.SimpleTcpReplicationManager" which does have the useDirtyFlag but the javadoc comments in this state it's "Tomcat Session Replication for Tomcat 4.0" ... I don't know if this is ok to use - I'm guessing not as it's not mentioned in the main cluster configuration documentation.

• hint and textview with right gravity and a singleline

  I've opened a bug but i was wondering if anyone encountered this issue and knows a workaround. If you define a text view with a hint inside it, give it right gravity (android:gravity="right") then if you define android:singleLine=true or android:maxLines="1" or android:scrollHorizonatally="true" you don't see the hint. removing the right gravity returns the hint to the left side, removing all the tree params i mentioned above puts the hint on the right side. i want my hint on the right, but i need a single horizontal line... here's the sample layout that doesn't show the hint: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:padding="5dp"> <EditText android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_gravity="center_vertical|right" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_margin="6dp" android:textSize="16sp" android:paddingRight="5dp" android:id="@+id/c" android:gravity="right" android:hint="hello!!!" android:scrollHorizontally="true" android:maxLines="1" android:singleLine="true"/> </LinearLayout> i checked on 1.6 and 2.1 emulators and it reproduces 100%, i'm prettysure it's a bug, i don't see the connection between single line and the hint.... what's more the hint got it's own layout in the TextView (mLayout and mHintLayout both exists, in onDraw if the text length is 0 mHintLayout if mHint is not null is used).

• Flex 4 front end connecting to Java Jersey Web Service

  I created a Java REST service using Jersey. I use three of the HTTP "verbs" GET, POST and DELETE. I want to create several prototype front ends for the service. After much research, a lot dating to 2008 and 2009, I have been unable to find anything remotely simple. My three options are: 1) resthttpservice. This project hasn't been updated in a year. The only activity are one off suggestions that individual users have implemented. http://code.google.com/p/resthttpservice/ 2) Create an AIR application. This isn't unfeasible. 3) Writing my own socket level code but there is a security restriction with flash players and I need to implement a policy server. I have already read the question posted about asking whether using Flex for REST services were worth it. That information is old as well. I want to introduce REST services to my company but Flex's limited support for HTTP PUT and DELETE are discouraging. My service also uses the Accept header to determine if JSON or XML will be returned to the client. I can't seem to change HTTP headers without doing socket programming. I'm fine with that but the security policy thing is annoying. Is there an easy way to use Flex 4 with RESTful services that uses PUT/DELETE and the Accept HTTP header? Please help. I'm very frustrated.

• regenerating url in cf9/Coldbox

  Hi I am wondering if there is a way to regenerate the URL when any page is loaded in coldbox/CF9 when using event.buildLink ? Currently I get http://cawksd05.codandev.local:8080/entries/editor when using event.buildlink. But the correct url should have /index.cfm added to it as shown below: /index.cfm/entries/editor Is there a way to set this once and where does this get set as I am confused where to set this for all my pages so that /index.cfm gets added the the url prefix when I do an event.Buildlink.
