• Delete backup files older than 7 days

  Using osql command, SSQL backup of a database is created. It is saved to Disk. Then renamed to match the date of the day backup was taken. All these files are saved in a single folder all the time. for example: Batch1.bat does the following 1) Created backup.bak 2) renamed to backup 12-13-2009.bak (this is done by the combination of % ~ - etc to get the date parameter) This is now automated to take backup everyday by Task scheduler in Windows. Can the batch file also be modified to delete backup files older than 7 days? if so, how ? If it is not possible via batch file, other than manually deleting the files are there any other alternatives to automate the deleting job ? Thanks in advance, Balaji S

  I'm attempting to rewrite some C# web service code that uses the Windows IP Helper API call "SendARP" to retreive a remote system's MAC address. SendARP works great - until you cross a network segment as Arp requests aren't routed. I've been looking at the "ParseNetworkString" documentation after happening across its existance on StackOverflow. Let me explain the scenario: I have two http servers. server A is accessible to end user by web browser, while server B is internal server which can only be accessed by server A. If server B generate some big jpeg image in local disk, obviously we can't just delivery those path to image to server A and eventually to end user. Then, how to let end user see those image without firstly storing those image data in server A temporarily? I run PHP on server A and perl on server B, but this should not matter. I need a general pattern for implementing this.

  I want to build a page for end users to visit (in our MPLS Network) and it show the following information in regards to them: Computer Name OS Disk Space Memory IP Address Active Directory User Name Password Expiration Time (As defined by Global Policy) Maybe a few other things such as Trend Micro Office current version vs. their version, # of MS Updates needed (we utilize WSUS), and a few other things in the future. • Convert void* representation of a dword to wstring

  I am having dumb monday so my apologies for posting such a newbie-like question. I am using CRegKey.QueryValue to return a dword value from the registry. QueryValue writes the value into void* pData and the length into ULONG* pnBytes. Now there is a way of getting it from pData into a wstring probably via stringstream. The closest I came was getting the result as a hex string. I was about to work on converting the hex representation to a dword and then from there to a wstring when I decided that was just dumb and ask on here instead of wasting another hour of my life on the problem.

• Are there Python ORMs out there that support multiple independent databases concurrently in use?

  I'm writing an application in Python where I wish to use sqlite as the backing store for documents edited by the app, with documents generally living in memory, but being saved to disk-based databases when the application saves. Ideally I'd like to use something like an ORM to make access to the data from my Python application code simple. Unfortunately it seems like the majority of Python ORMs, including SQLAlchemy, SQLObject, Django, and Storm, associate the database connection (or engine or whatever) with the classes representing table data, rather than instances of those classes. This restricts these ORMs to working with a single database connection across all instances. Since I'd like to support having multiple documents open simultaneously, this isn't going to work for me. Are there any ORMs out there that support this usage model in Python? Bazaar seems to support this, but it's quite out of date, and at first glance appears to have some other shortcomings. • Does Ruby on Rails "has_many" array provide data on a "need to know" basis?

  On Ruby on Rails, say, if the Actor model object is Tom Hanks, and the "has_many" fans is 20,000 Fan objects, then actor.fans gives an Array with 20,000 elements. Probably, the elements are not pre-populated with values? Otherwise, getting each Actor object from the DB can be extremely time consuming. So it is on a "need to know" basis? So does it pull data when I access actor.fans[500], and pull data when I access actor.fans[0]? If it jumps from each record to record, then it won't be able to optimize performance by doing sequential read, which can be faster on the hard disk because those records could be in the nearby sector / platter layer -- for example, if the program touches 2 random elements, then it will be faster just to read those 2 records, but what if it touches all elements in random order, then it may be faster just to read all records in a sequential way, and then process the random elements. But how will RoR know whether I am doing only a few random elements or all elements in random?

  Hey, having a wee bit of trouble. Trying to assign a variable length 1d array to different values of an array, e.g. a(1) = [1, 0.13,0.52,0.3]; a(2) = [1, 0, .268]; However, I get the error: ??? In an assignment A(I) = B, the number of elements in B and I must be the same. Error in ==> lab2 at 15 a(1) = [1, 0.13,0.52,0.3]; I presume this means that it's expecting a scalar value instead of an array. Does anybody know how to assign the array to this value?   Hi, assume that I have the following code fragment operation1(); bw.close(); operation2(); When I call BufferedReader.close() from my code, I am assuming my JVM makes a system call that ensures that the buffer has been flushed and written to disk. I want to know if close() waits for the system call to complete its operation or does it proceed to operation2() without waiting for close() to finish. To rephrase my question, when I do operation2(), can I assume that bw.close() has completed successfully?

  Hello, I would like to perform a certain action when UITextField becomes empty (user deletes everything one sign after another or uses the clear option). I thought about using two methods - (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string; and - (BOOL)textFieldShouldClear:(UITextField *)textField; from UITextFieldDelegate I'm not sure how to detect the situation when the text field becomes empty? I tried with: if ([textField.text length] == 0) but it does't work as the fisrt of the above methods is called before the sign is deleted from the text field. Any ideas?

  I use SPs and this isn't an SP vs code-behind "Build your SQL command" question. I'm looking for a high-throughput method for a backend app that handles many small transactions. I use SQLDataReader for most of the returns since forward only works in most cases for me. I've seen it done many ways, and used most of them myself. Methods that define and accept the stored procedure parameters as parameters themselves and build using cmd.Parameters.Add (with or without specifying the DB value type and/or length) Assembling your SP params and their values into an array or hashtable, then passing to a more abstract method that parses the collection and then runs cmd.Parameters.Add Classes that represent tables, initializing the class upon need, setting the public properties that represent the table fields, and calling methods like Save, Load, etc I'm sure there are others I've seen but can't think of at the moment as well. I'm open to all suggestions.

The quick summary of my problem is that upon validating 2 fields, I get error for the second field validation. If I comment first field, then the 2nd field does not show any error. With my limited knowledge of Firebug, however, I did find out that the following were the responses when I entered email and confirm_email in the fields: RESPONSE 1: {"success":"y","msg_email":"Email available"} RESPONSE 2: {"success":"y","msg_email":"Email available"}{"success":"n","msg_confirm_email":"Email and Confirm Email do NOT match."} Although the RESPONSE 2 shows that we are receiving the correct message via msg_confirm_email, in the front end, the alert 'Some error' is popping up (I have enabled the alert for debugging). I have spent 48 hours trying to change every part of the code wherever possible, but with only little success. What is weird about this is that if I comment the validation for $_POST['email'] field completely, then the validation for $_POST['confirm_email'] field is displaying correctly without any errors. If I enable it back, it is validating email field correctly, but when it reaches the point of validating confirm_email field, it is again showing me the error. I have also tried renaming success variable in check_ajax2.php page to other different names for both $_POST['email'] and $_POST['confirm_email'] but no success. I will be adding more fields in the form and validating within the check_ajax2.php page. So I am not planning on using different ajax pages for validating each of those fields (and I don't think it's smart to do it that way). I am not a jquery or AJAX guru, so all help in resolving this issue is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  Hi, I'm trying to install this fossil in DOS 6.22, which is running in Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. I'm hoping that some of you veteran Oracle developers have any recollection of in what order do these diskette images need to be loaded, since I don't have any documentation available for 6.0.33. A friend emailed me the following 720K diskette images: INSTALLE.IMG RDBMS1.IMG RDBMS2.IMG RDBMS3.IMG RSF.IMG SQLLDR1.IMG SQLLDR2.IMG UTIL1.IMG UTIL2.IMG UTIL3.IMG Within Virtual PC, I capture a diskette image, one at a time, into Drive A: VPC's floppy disk emulation supports FAT12, so the supported diskette formats can be: 720K or 1.44MB. If anyone happens to have documentation for this legacy version, I would greatly appreciate a copy of it! Thank You.
