• Cleanest way to tell if 3 times are within half an hour of each other

  I have 3 date / time input boxes on a form and the user cannot select any times within half an hour of each other. I've converted all values to epoch format using a Javascript implementation of strtotime, but not sure how to recursively check that any of the times are actually half an hour apart. I can hand code all checks, but it would be cleaner to write a recursive function (especially if there were theoretically more than 3 time slots). Did some Google research but no luck. Any suggestions on implementing this in Javascript or Jquery. Thanks.

• OpenGL Color Interpolation across vertices

  Right now, I have more than 25 vertices that form a model. I want to interpolate color linearly between the first and last vertex. The Problem is when I write the following code glColor3f(1.0,0.0,0.0); vertex3f(1.0,1.0,1.0); vertex3f(0.9,1.0,1.0); . .`<more vertices>; glColor3f(0.0,0.0,1.0); vertex3f(0.0,0.0,0.0); All the vertices except that last one are red. Now I am wondering if there is a way to interpolate color across these vertices without me having to manually interpolate color natively (like how opengl does it automatically) at each vertex since, I will be having a lot more number of colors at various vertices.   I have a serialized array of values saved to a file and need to change the value of one of the variables. In the example I change the value of $two and then save the whole array back into the file with the new value. • Java annotations for design patterns?

  Is there a project that maintains annotations for patterns? For example, when I write a builder, I want to mark it with @Builder. Annotating in this way immediately provides a clear idea of what the code implements. Also, the Javadoc of the @Builder annotation can reference explanations of the builder pattern. Furthermore, navigating from the Javadoc of a builder implementation to @Builder Javadoc is made easy by annotating @Builder with @Documented. I've being slowing accumulating a small set of such annotations for patterns and idioms that I have in my code, but I'd like to leverage a more complete existing project if it exists. If there is no such project, maybe I can share what I have by spinning it off to a separate pattern/idiom annotation project.   I periodically get message from git that look like this: Your branch is behind the tracked remote branch 'local-master/master' by 3 commits, and can be fast-forwarded. I would like to be able to write commands in a shell script that can do the following: How can I tell if my current branch can be fast-forwarded from the remote branch it is tracking? How can I tell how many commits "behind" my branch is? How can I fast-forward by just one commit, so that for example, my local branch would go from "behind by 3 commits" to "behind by 2 commits"? (For those who are interested, I am trying to put together a quality git/darcs mirror.)

You can define module-level doctests and/or a doctest for individual models. It's common practice to put application-level doctests in the module docstring and model-level doctests in the model docstrings. A file called tests.py in the application directory -- i.e., the directory that holds models.py. Out of curiosity I'd like to know why Django's testrunner is limited to the doctests in models.py, but more practically I'd like to know how one could expand the testrunner's doctests to include (for example) views.py and other modules when running manage.py test. • Not sure whether to use haXe of just plain flash

  Hi Guys, A local sports clothing company has hired me to make them a flash based jersey colour picker sort of thing. They are wanting it so users can check out what particular designs would look like with certain colours. Now, I'm by no means a great developer (I'm 16, but I know my way around javascript, flash and a bit of AS2) but I've taken notice of haXe recently and think it might be a good project to write in it and compile to a swf. I'm not sure if I should just use flash, or if I should use haXe. Is anybody able to iterate on the strengths and weaknesses of using haXe or flash please? Thanks in advance! P.S. I do have a copy of flash (supplied by school), so that doesn't concern me.

• Writing simple flash plugin for flowplayer

  Hello all, I'm trying to write a simple plugin for the flash player flowplayer (documentation for writing a plugin for flowplayer can be found here). I'm new to flash and I think I'm having a problem connecting the .fla file to the .as file when compiling into a .swf. As it is, when I include the plugin, the player doesn't show up. I've set the .fla's document class to the .as file and added the .as file to the .fla's publishing classpath. The .as file can be found here and the .fla file can be found here Any ideas?

  I know you Ruby people will laugh at my bad Ruby code: i=0 for blah in blahs puts i.to_s + " " + blah i+=1 end I want to use a for-each and a counter... is there a better way to do it? Note: I don't know if blahs is an array or a hash, but having to do blahs[i] wouldn't make it much sexier. Also I'd like to know how to write i++ in Ruby. Edit: Technically, Matt's and Squeegy's answer came in first, but I'm giving best answer to paradoja so spread around the points a bit on SO. Also his answer had the note about versions, which is still relevant (as long as my Ubuntu 8.04 is using Ruby 1.8.6). Edit: Should've used puts "#{i} #{blah}" which is a lot more succinct.

• Interaction between Java and Android

  I am currently trying to research how to use Android with an existing java based system. Basically, I need to communicate to/from an Android application. The system currently passes object data from computer to computer using ActiveMQ as the JMS provider. On one of the computers is a display which shows object data to the user. What we want to do now is use a phone (running Android) as another option to show this object data to a user with wifi/network access. Ideally we would like to have a native application on the Android that would listen to the ActiveMQ topic and publish to another Topic and read/write/display the object data, but from some research I have done, I am not sure if this is possible. What are some other ways to approach this problem? The android Phone needs to be able to send/receive data. I have been using the AndroidEmulator for testing.

  I have written a macro that uses Application.OnTime that works if I manually execute the macro. I'm trying to automate this process so I don't have to write Application.OnTime in "This Workbook" or (Private Sub Workbook_Open() Most of you do this because you can have windows scheduler open the workbook at a certain time which starts the macros on open. I CANNOT USE SCHEDULER. Because I am not able to use windows scheduler I will keep the workbook open and the timer should refresh my data then Call "my Macro" at a certain time everyday. Where do I place this code, and how do I set an auto timer?

  Hi, MSDN states that it is possible in .NET to capture the output of a process and display it in the console window at the same time. Normally when you set StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true; the console window stays blank. As the MSDN site doesn't provide a sample for this I was wondering if anyone would have a sample or could point me to a sample? When a Process writes text to its standard stream, that text is normally displayed on the console. By redirecting the StandardOutput stream, you can manipulate or suppress the output of a process. For example, you can filter the text, format it differently, or write the output to both the console and a designated log file. • Is there a Windows API to modify file type associations for an extension?

  I'm looking for a way to programatically tweak the particulars of a file association on a Windows system. For example, the "Application User to Perform this Action" setting for the "Open" action for a particular file type. Clearly I could do this by modifying the registry directly, but if there is an API I'd prefer to use that as it would likely be more resilient to changes in the OS handling of mapping extensions to applications. For my purposes I'm needing to write this in VBScript (.VBS) file because it is part of a package to be used with VMWare ThinApp that mandates it. However, I'll port/wrap/whatever I need to make this week, so I am open to any solution (including using the .NET framework)

  I have forgotten my passphrase for my gpg key on linux. Can someone please help me write a simple script to use bruteforce to crack the key? I remember show of the words which MIGHT be in the passphrase, so hopefully, it will not take long for my computer to bruteforce it. All is not lost of I can't recover the passphrase, it just means I will not be able to work on my project for the next 10 days until I get back to work to get another copy of the files, but this time with a new key for which I will remember to passphrase.

• Is there good .sol editor for Flash Player 9 Local Shared Objects? Can we build one?

  There's plenty of them out there but none of them do what I would like them to do. Most of them crash when opening a file or simply corrupt the data. Many don't run at all. It seems to me that most were written 3-4 years ago for AS2 .sols and no longer work with FP9/AS3 sols. I'd attempt to write my own using AIR but I can't find a new spec of the byte format. There's an explanation of the file format here: http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=27026&group_id=131628 and another here: http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=27026&group_id=131628 but it looks as though both of these docs are a good 4 years old (pre-FP9) and as I'm not skilled or experienced in file formats, writing a new one, especially without an updated spec, is seeming like less and less of a viable option. Ideally I'd like one that can not only read the .sol, but edit and save new values also. Thanks!

  There is a very useful "Clips" feature in Coda, do we have such thing in Eclipse? What it does is pretty simple, you save once a code clip which you use very often and assign it a shortcut and when you want to re-use it on editor you type the shortcut you assigned and it automatically pastes that code clip and sets caret position to the defined position. On the example here (second image) when i write 4dom and press TAB afterwards it types me this... jQuery(function($){ //puts cursor here }); Since it is a very useful feature i miss that one on Eclipse, is there a plugin for this?
