  • Jenkins CI - Cannot allocate memory

    I tested jenkins-ci successfully on a ubuntu 10.4 (with vmware fusion) on my local computer. Now I want to install and use it on my virtual server at hosteurope. The basic installation was no problem, but now I have problems with my build project. After pulling an mercurial update from a repository, ant is invoked and throws the following error in my build project: "Buildfile: /var/lib/jenkins/workspace/concrete5-seed-clean/build.xml [property] java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "/usr/bin/env": java.io.IOException: error=12, Cannot allocate memory" There is a known problem with heap size at virtual servers at hosteurope (http://faq.hosteurope.de/index.php?cpid=13918), so I tried to set the heap size manually: # for ant export ANT_OPTS="-Xms512m -Xmx512m" # jenkins # edited /etc/default/jenkins, added line JAVA_ARGS="-Xms512m -Xmx512m" # restarted jenkins via /etc/init.d/jenkins restart After setting this for ant, the command "ant -diagnostics" runs through and does not cause an error, but the error still occurs when I try to build the project. Server-Details: - http://www.hosteurope.de/produkt/Virtual-Server-Linux-L Ubuntu 10.4 LTS RAM: 1GB / Dynamic 2GB My questions: - Is 1GB enough for Jenkins or do I have to upgrade the server? - Is this error caused by ant or jenkins? Update: I got it running with ant options -Xmx128m -Xms128m, but sometimes the error occurs again. (this freaks me out, cause i can not reproduce it by now :/ ) Help much appreciated!   • Is it allowed to load Swing classes in non-EDT thread?

    After the introduction of Java Memory Model, the Swing guidelines were changed to state that any Swing components need to be instantiated on the EDT in order to avoid non-published instance state. What I could not find anywhere is whether the classloading is also mandated to be on the EDT or can we pre-load key Swing classes in a background thread? Is there any official statement from Sun/Oracle on this? Are there any classes that are known to hold non-threadsafe static state, hence need to be loaded on EDT?

I want to detect it to avoid sax parser exception which I am getting it while parsing the xml saved as a clob in oracle 10g database.     Setup: 64bit Linux 64bit SUN Jvm 1.6.0_20 Weblogic 10.3 Is it possible to run Weblogic 10.3 in this setup with a maximum heap size of 8gb? We have recived answers from oracle support that states that it might not be possible to address more than 4gb with this setup. Please submit any official links that support any statements that it is possible to run this setup with more than 4gb of heap size. We can not find any documentation of any limits of heap size when running with this setup. Thanx

  • PowerShell 3.0 x64 bit broken after installing KB2506143

    I have searched using all kinds of variations on relevant terms and I cannot find a single other instance of someone else having this excact same problem, so I am hoping someone here may have a clue. Problem I installed Windows Management Framework 3.0 (KB2506143) by downloading and running Windows6.1-KB2506143-x64.msu from Microsoft.com. Once completed I rebooted my machine as requested. After rebooting and logging in, I try to run the 64-bit PowerShell command shell and it comes up for a second then goes away. The 32-bit shell seems to work fine, it is just the 64-bit one that fails. Looking in the Fusion logs, I found: *** Assembly Binder Log Entry (10/4/2012 @ 1:51:48 PM) *** The operation failed. Bind result: hr = 0x80070002. The system cannot find the file specified. I tried uninstalling KB2506143 (which removed MSVCRT90.dll and caused Windows Live Messenger to fail on load after rebooting again, so I ran a repair in stall on Windows Live Essentials and that fixed the Messenger problem) and then re-installing it, but nothing changed. If it helps, here are what I think may be the relevant parts of my hardware/software environment. Environment Dell Latitude E6510, 8GB RAM Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with SP1 Visual Studio 2010 Professional installed (includes .NET 4.0) Visual Studio 2012 Professional installed Microsoft Forefront Client Security Any clues out there?     I want to convert a string like this: '10/15/2008 10:06:32 PM' into the equivalent DATETIME value in Sql Server. In Oracle, I would say this: TO_DATE('10/15/2008 10:06:32 PM','MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM') This question implies that I must parse the string into one of the standard formats, and then convert using one of those codes. That seems ludicrous for such a mundane operation. Is there an easier way?

    Hi I just wanna disable the default RAID in my server IBM System X3400 M2 Server(7837-24X),i have 3 disk drives SAS. I want to make them a JBOD "Just a Bunch Of Disks", because I want to install in the drive 0 CentOS, and the other two make them cache files for a squid server. I disable the RAID in the BIOS: System Settings/Adapters and UEFI drivers/LSI Logic Fusion MPT SAS Driver -PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x3,0X0)/Pci(0x0,0x0) LSI Logic MPT Setup Utility RAID Properties/Delete Array Later I boot the CentOS live CD and install the OS in the drive 0, and the others 2 mounted like this: *LVM Volume Groups vg_proxyserver 139508 lv_root 51200 / ext4 lv_home 84276 /home ext4 lv_swap 4032 Hard Drive sdb(/dev/sdb) free 140011 sdc(/dev/sdc) free 140011 sdd(/dev/sdd) sdd1 500 /boot ext4 sdd2 139512 vg_proxyserver physical volume(LVM) But when I restart the server give me the error: Boot failed Hard Disk 0 UEFI PXE PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0X0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/MAC(001A64B15130,0X0)) ........PXE-E18:Server response timeout. UEFI PXE PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0X0)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/MAC(001A64B15132,0X0)) ........PXE-E18:Server response timeout. and the OS not start. The IBM force me to do a RAID?,why?

    I have a J2EE application that has a lot of reports, the situation now is the following: Report filters' values are sent to the application over DWR mainly, the data are retrieved from Oracle DB throw DB procedures and returned back to the client. However, some customization is required every now and then (new data filters, columns, ordering, ...), and these changes are painful to implement since we need to modify the JSPs, DB Procedures, the application itself, ...   • Cisco ASA user authentication options - OpenID, public RSA sig, others?

    My organization has a Cisco ASA 5510 which I have made act as a firewall/gateway for one of our offices. Most resources a remote user would come looking for exist inside. I've implemented the usual deal - basic inside networks with outbound NAT, one primary outside interface with some secondary public IPs in the PAT pool for public-facing services, a couple site-to-site IPSec links to other branches, etc. - and I'm working now on VPN. I have the WebVPN (clientless SSL VPN) working and even traversing the site-to-site links. At the moment I'm leaving a legacy OpenVPN AS in place for thick client VPN. What I would like to do is standardize on an authentication method for all VPN then switch to the Cisco's IPSec thick VPN server. I'm trying to figure out what's really possible for authentication for these VPN users (thick client and clientless). My organization uses Google Apps and we already use dotnetopenauth to authenticate users for a couple internal services. I'd like to be able to do the same thing for thin and thick VPN. Alternatively a signature-based solution using RSA public keypairs (ssh-keygen type) would be useful to identify user@hardware. I'm trying to get away from legacy username/password auth especially if it's internal to the Cisco (just another password set to manage and for users to forget). I know I can map against an existing LDAP server but we have LDAP accounts created for only about 10% of the user base (mostly developers for Linux shell access). I guess what I'm looking for is a piece of middleware which appears to the Cisco as an LDAP server but will interface with the user's existing OpenID identity. Nothing I've seen in the Cisco suggests it can do this natively. But RSA public keys would be a runner-up, and much much better than standalone or even LDAP auth. What's really practical here?
