    Masters, I try to set some event task on windows server 2003. I use this tutorial: http://www.petri.co.il/how-to-use-eventtriggersexe-to-send-e-mail-based-on-event-ids.htm My problem is when i set an event for example "If Event Id 528 in the security log, than send an e-mail.", then the eventrigger fire up the task continously, and i get the mail over and over. Any suggestion how to set eventriggers.exe to send e-mail once after the event occure in the event log? Thank you.

  • Setting up VM server access via host MacBook Pro's WiFi hotspot

    I have a virtual machine (VM) hosted on a MacBook Pro (MBP). There is a server installed on the VM. I'm trying to make this server accessible via MBP's WiFi hotspot so I can see it from my iPhone when connected to the hotspot. The VM is Parallels (latest version) and its OS is Win7 and the MBP is 2013 with Mavericks. With default settings and no hotspot enabled I can access the VM's server from the host OSX. The network setting on the VM is "Shared" and it's IP is 10.211.x.x. When I join the hotspot from another laptop the other laptop gets an IP 169.254.x.x and it can't ping 10.211.x.x or access the server on that VM Is there a combination of settings on the VM and MBP's hotspot such that I can access the VM server from a client on the MPB's hotspot?

  • Installing W2K8 R2 on a Dell Poweredge 2850

    I'm a server novice and have been given a Dell 2850 (PERC 4e/Di). It has 3 blank HDs that I think are configured as RAID 5. I am trying to install W2K8 R2 SP1 on it. It doesn't have a DVD reader so I created an install USB. This works fine until it's time to copy files to the HD. It can't see a HD. There is an option to browse for drivers at this stage. Any idea what drivers I need and where to download them? I downloaded this driver RAID_DRVR_WIN_R227150.EXE but this failed with invalid signature.   • Restricting SSRS subscriptions to shared schedules only

    Hi all I'm reasonably new to SQL Server Reporting Services and Report Manager, and completely new to SSRS's Subscriptions. We're running SSRS 2008. Out of the box it seems that a user with the Browser role can create a Subscription to a report and schedule it to run at any time they choose. As an admin I have setup a schedule called "Overnight reports" and have it run every night from 1am. I would like it so that when a regular user creates their Subscription they can only use one of my shared schedules so that their subscription will only run overnight. Is this possible? Thanks -Matt

    BOOTMGR IS MISSING PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL TO RESTART Note: This is a VM on VMWare ESX server, but that should not matter I put in the 2008 R2 x64 install dvd and can get to recovery, but it lists no Operating Systems. Command Prompt I start the command prompt, go to C:\ and perform a dir /a Apart from files I put there myself, these are showing $Recycle.Bin Documents and Settings [C:\Users] Program Files Program Files (x86) ProgramData Recovery System Volume Information Temp Users Windows Where to go next? Is it like the NTLDR problem with Windows 2003 where I can just drop a file in there and it will be hunky dory again?

    This works; I'm not having trouble, but I want to be certain that this is bulletproof. I came up with a neat little .htaccess redirect, but I am not sure if it is secure; do you know? <IfModule mod_rewrite.c     RewriteEngine On     RewriteRule ^goto/([a-z]+)/?$ /$1/ [R] </IfModule I think as long as the server is configured correctly and the files handle authentication autonomously, then it shouldn't be a security issue. Also, being that the rewrite rule only works with characters a-z and one slash I doubt they could jump around directories by injecting stuff into the URL I think...

  • Weird Windows 2003 MSDTC and SQL 2005 issue

    scenario: Windows 2003 sp2 x64 enterprise edition. SQL 2005 sp2 cu9 x64 Enterprise edition After restarting the resource groups on two node active-active cluster, 3 SQL 2005 instances start up fine. The 4th one starts up but starts throwing the following error. "Enlist operation failed: 0x8004d00e(XACT E NOTRANSACTION). SQL Server could not register with Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) as a resource manager for this transaction. The transaction may have been stopped by the client or the resource manager." MSDTC is fine since the other 3 function normally. The only way to "fix" it is to take the 4th instance offline and bring it online again. Is there any way to fix this enlistment without restarting?

    Hi, We are developing a multi-user desktop application with users located in different countries. The platform is - .net 3.5, SQL Server 2008, WinForms. Now, my client has used the help of a DBA who has implemented merge replication. To facilitate replication, we made all our primary keys as GUID. Now, we are facing these issues with replication - subscribers expiration sometimes stops replication and we have found no clean way to re-add every change to db schema requires to poll the whole data all over again! This seems to be strange, what could be the problem here? Also, sometimes we have duplicate keys, and that too stops replication I am sure these issues can be resolved. Maybe, we have not gone the right way to implement. Can you suggest how to go about implementing. Or, is the above information enough to diagnose the problem?

    How do I increase performance in OWA 2010 SP2? I am running CAS on a seperate installation, which has 8GB RAM and 4 CPU cores - running virtualized in a vmware environment. However, the load times are pretty bad, so is there any way to improve those? I am thinking of installing a linux cache-stuff-server in front of the OWA, but will that work?     We're using OpsView/Nagios to monitor our servers. We've added the SNMP service to all our servers and deployed the configuration via GPO, but one win2k3 server seems to have a problem; it crashes pretty regularly. The event log carries messages like: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7034 Date: 6/11/2009 Time: 7:11:49 PM User: N/A Computer: HOSTNNAME Description: The SNMP Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). and also Event Type: Error Event Source: Application Error Event Category: (100) Event ID: 1000 Date: 6/11/2009 Time: 7:11:18 PM User: N/A Computer: HOSTNAME Description: Faulting application snmp.exe, version 5.2.3790.3959, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.3959, fault address 0x000417af. Now, I could probably set it to simply restart on crash in perpetuity, but I think it's better to fix problems like this. Is this a known problem? If not, what should I do to diagnose it?

    We have servers on which we run tests and all users connect using the same credentials. The server allows 2 connections. What happens often is that one user is already active and the other two users keep hijacking the remaining session. Using query session, I can find out what are the active connections. But it does not list the client machine from where the session originates, which taskmanager displays. How do I get this information from a remote machine? I prefer a command line solution.   • Creating a vm using Hyper-V causes the host of BSOD

    Hi, Problem description: When I try to create a virtual machine, the host bsod part way through the process. From the logs in lookes to fail/hang on the "Creating new VirtualDisckDriver with new VHD" step. The BSOD error code is SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION : STOP:0x0000003B When the machine has finished restarting, it looks to have created the vhd and XML files for the vm but it isn't accessable. I have two server bothing behaving in exactly the same way, so I don't believe it's a hardware fault. Has anyone had a similar experince? How did you resolve the problem?   • Has this server been compromised?

    A friend is running a VPS (CentOS) His business partner was the sysadmin but has left him high and dry to look after the system. So, I've been asked to help out in fixing an apparent spam problem. His IP address got blacklisted for unsolicited mail. I'm not sure where to look for a problem, but I started with netstat to see what open connections were running. It looks to me like he has remote hosts connected to his SMTP server.   • What's the best way to monitor a large number of application pools in IIS7?

    Some background first - We're running IIS 7 on Windows 2008. We're running around 250 websites per server with each site in it's own application pool. I need a way to monitor each application pool for crashes and hangs and to send an email alert if an application pool is unresponsive for more than say 2 minutes. I thought about having a virtual directory mapped into each site with an ASP.NET page that we could poll via our existing monitoring system (HostMonitor). Does anyone else have experience in this area?

  • Get the "source network address" in Event ID 529 audit entries on Windows XP

    In windows server 2003 when an Event 529 (logon failure) occures with a logon type of 10 (remote logon), the source network IP address is recorded in the event log. On a windows XP machine, this (and some other details) are omitted. If a bot is trying a brute force over RDP (some of my XP machines are (and need to be) exposed with a public IP address), i cannot see the originating IP address so i don't know what to block (with a script i run every few minutes). The DC does not log this detail either when the logon attempt is to the client xp machine and the DC is only asked to authenticate the credentials. Any help getting this detail in the log would be appreciated.
