    I'm doing a batch script to connect to a tcp server and then exiting. My problem is that I can't stop the reactor, for example: cmd = raw_input("Command: ") # custom factory, the protocol just send a line reactor.connectTCP(HOST,PORT, CommandClientFactory(cmd) d = defer.Deferred() d.addCallback(lambda x: reactor.stop()) reactor.callWhenRunning(d.callback,None) reactor.run() In this code the reactor stops before that the tcp connection is done and the cmd is passed. How can I stop the reactor after that all the operation are finished?

  • Every flash uploader giving bad progress values.

    The file upload script I wrote early last year for an internal website has been misbehaving oddly on a number of machines. On some machines it consistently works fine, on others it consistently misbehaves. I am having exactly the same problem with YUI Uploader, SWFUpload (2.2 and 2.5a), and Uploadify. On the misbehaving machines, the progress event (or callback as the case may be) is reporting the upload going far too quickly. It is progressing around 9 or 10MB/s, instead of the 50 or 60kb/s that is actually going on. The progress bar fills up very quickly, and then no more progress events are triggered. A few minutes later the completion event will trigger when the upload is actually done. I must emphasize that the file upload does proceed normally, even though the progress being reported is very wrong. The progress events are reporting a correct file size, but the reported amount uploaded is usually way too high, and it appears that it is always a multiple of 2^16 (65536). I'm only having this problem with Firefox 3.5 on Windows XP, all of which have various subversions of Flash 10. Has anyone heard of this happening, or have any idea what is going on? (I'm off to go file a number of bug reports, but hopefully someone here has some previous experience with this.)

Suggestions need not be specific to any particular programming language, my interest is mostly academic.

For example, if I have three properties defined, a,b,c, I want to replace all three tokens @a@, @b@, @c@ . I however do not want to set up the filterchain manually as properties may be added/removed later on.   • Problem with Landscape and Portrait view in a TabBar Application

    I have an TabBar app that I would like to be in landscape and portrait. The issue is when I go to tab 2 make a selection from my table then select tab 1 and rotate the device, then select tab 2 again the content does not know that the device rotated and will not display my custom orientated content correctly. I am trying to write a priovate method that tells the view what orientation it is currently in. IN viewDidLoad I am assuming it is in portrait but in shouldAutoRotate I have it looking in the private method for the correct alignment of the content. Please Help!!   • asp.net MVC: how to catch a 404 error?

    Hi, in the old days, with asp.net, when i would navigate to a non existing page, the .net framework (or iis?) would throw a 404 and i could attach a default page to that error in the web.config in the custom errors section. but in the asp.net mvc that doesn't seem to work? Does the mvc framework throws some kind of invalid route excpetion saying it can't find any route for my uri or something like that?

  • Apply CSS style to anchor problem

    Using jquery I have a clicking tab mechanism that are nothing but anchor tags that return false but call javascript functions to run some events on the page. The problem is I am using jquery to apply an opacity style to the active anchor. and the other sibling anchor get a lesser opacity view. My code looks like this $("#menutab li a").click(function(){ $(this).animate({opacity:'1'},1000); $(this).siblings().animate({opacity:'.25'},1000); } I would think this code would act only on the clicked element and apply that css style to that element and the other style to the other anchor tags except the clicked one. It kind of does that, but also what it does is leave the earlier clicked element to opacity =1, so if I click an element it sets it opacity to 1 and then if I click another one it sets it opacity to 1 while leave the earlier clicked one to 1 also instead of setting it to .25 like the others. Edit: I changed the above code to: $("#menutab ul li").click(function(){ $(this).children().animate({opacity:'1'},1000); $(this).siblings().children().animate({opacity:'.25'},1000); }); and now I get the desired effect, except that when the first anchor in the list is clicked doesn't follow the event rules, When the first one is clicked its as if, the click event is not triggered, because no opacity style changes. which I don't understand.

I was wondering if there are any reasons that I shouldn't be doing it this way.   • Primary key/foreign Key naming convention

    In our dev group we have a raging debate regarding the naming convention for Primary and Foreign Keys. There's basically two schools of thought in our group: 1) Primary Table (Employee) Primary Key is called ID Foreign table (Event) Foreign key is called EmployeeID 2) Primary Table (Employee) Primary Key is called EmployeeID Foreign table (Event) Foreign key is called EmployeeID I prefer not to duplicate the name of the table in any of the columns (So I prefer option 1 above). Conceptually, it is consisted with a lot of the recommended practices in other languages, where you don't use the name of the object in its property names. I think that naming the foreign key EmployeeID (or Employee_ID might be better) tells the reader that it is the ID column of the Employee Table. Some others prefer option 2 where you name the primary key prefixed with the table name so that the column name is the same throughout the database. I see that point, but you now can not visually distinguish a primary key from a foreign key. Also, I think it's redundant to have the table name in the column name, because if you think of the table as an entity and a column as a property or attribute of that entity, you think of it as the ID attribute of the Employee, not the EmployeeID attribute of an employee. I don't go an ask my coworker what his PersonAge or PersonGender is. I ask him what his Age is. So like I said, it's a raging debate and we go on and on and on about it. I'm interested to get some new perspective.

    I'm making a mobile version of my website, and trying to make it feel as native as possible on the iphone. However, any background areas of the page respond to swiping gestures such that you can shift the page partway off the screen. Specifically, if the user touches and swipes left, for example, the content shifts off the edge of the screen and one can see a gray background 'behind' the page. How can this be prevented? I'd like to have the page itself be 320x480 with scroll-swiping disabled (except on list elements that I choose). I have added the following meta tags to the top of the page: <meta name="viewport" content="width=320; height=480; initial-scale=1.0; maximum-scale=1.0; user-scalable=0;"/> <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" /> <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black" /> I've also tried the following as the event handler for the touchstart, touchmove, and touchend events of the body element: function cancelTouchEvent(e) { if (!e) var e = window.event; e.cancelBubble = true; if (e.stopPropagation) e.stopPropagation(); if (e.preventDefault) e.preventDefault(); return false; } It doesn't stop the swiping behavior, but does prevent clicks on all links on the page...   • Jquery / PHP - pre-loading next page before navigating to it.

    Hey all Using jQuery, is there a way to prevent going to the next page until the animation has finished AND the next page has completely loaded (including images)? The code below works but it is a bit clunky. You can see what I am trying to achieve here: http://bit.ly/aOeYgE The first three or so pages work. But when you click to go to the homepage a few times (after it's cached) you will see that it jumps, and the animation isn't very smooth. As you can see with the code below, the height is immediately set to 0, then when the page has loaded the height is set to 500px.   • Strange behaviour with mediaplayer and seekTo

    I'm implementing a custom video player because I need custom video controls. I have an app with only one activity, which on startup shall start playing a video right away. Now, the problem I have is: I don't want the video to start from the beginning, but from a later position. Therefore I do a seekTo(16867). Since seekTo is asynchronous, I place the start call of the mediaplayer (player.start()) in the onSeekComplete of the onSeekCompleteListener. The strange behaviour I experience though is that I can see/hear the video playing from the beginning for a few millisecs before it actually plays from/jumps to the position I seeked to. But - on the other hand - the Log output I call before the player.start returns the correct position 16867, where I seeked to.   • Updating ToolStripProgressBar and ToolStripStatusLabel along with with an action

    In a Windows Form, I have a search box that fires an event to search a remote database and display some results. The query is pretty fast, usually just a fraction of a second, but in case the delay is noticeable there is a progress bar and label in the form's status bar. When the user clicks "Search" the status label should appear and the progress bar show some progress. Then when the result comes back the label should disappear and the progress bar should be full. Pretty basic response. The problem is, I can't get those actions to happen in that order. Using the code below, I click "Search", nothing happens until the results are displayed, and then the progress bar fills up from 0 to 100. The label never appears. I even threw in a sleep command immediately after the event to be sure I wasn't just missing it, but it's as if the first 2 statements are not being executed.   • SubSonic template with MySQL

    When I run the custom tool to create the cs files for SubSonic all the templates now inject a letter g to the top of the cs files. To get this to compile I need to remove the g from the ActiveRecord.cs, Struts.cs, Context.cs and StoredProcedures.cs. Anyone else run into this? I am using MySQL.

Not just an object which I get with an event but data like which day number was clicked? Ideally I would want to have data attached to every view I create dynamically. Something like data() method in Javascript jQuery. Right now I can see only 1 way to solve this - while creating TextView add id with data and when clicked - get id back and parse it to get my data. But it strikes me as ugly approach. Is there a way to attach arbitrary data to android views?

  • Reading same file from multiple threads in C#

    Hi. I was googling for some advise about this and I found some links. The most obvious was this one but in the end what im wondering is how well my code is implemented. I have basically two classes. One is the Converter and the other is ConverterThread I create an instance of this Converter class that has a property ThreadNumber that tells me how many threads should be run at the same time (this is read from user) since this application will be used on multi-cpu systems (physically, like 8 cpu) so it is suppossed that this will speed up the import The Converter instance reads a file that can range from 100mb to 800mb and each line of this file is a tab-delimitted value record that is imported to another destination like a database. The ConverterThread class simply runs inside the thread (new Thread(ConverterThread.StartThread)) and has event notification so when its work is done it can notify the Converter class and then I can sum up the progress for all these threads and notify the user (in the GUI for example) about how many of these records have been imported and how many bytes have been read. It seems, however that I'm having some trouble because I get random errors about the file not being able to be read or that the sum of the progress (percentage) went above 100% which is not possible and I think that happens because threads are not being well managed and probably the information returned by the event is malformed (since it "travels" from one thread to another) Do you have any advise on better practices of implementation of threads so I can accomplish this?
