• hook to save action in eclipse plugin

  I want to create a Google Closure Compiler plugin for eclipse. I already have a popup menu entry to compile a Javascript file to its minified version. But it would be more than helpful if every time you save a *.js that minified version would be generated automatically. I read/heard about natures and builders, extension points and IResourceChangeListener. But I did not manage to figure out what I should use and especially how to get it to work. Is there a working example of a plugin that does "the same kind of thing" so I can work from that or a tutorial to write such? • [C++] Start a thread using a method pointer

  Hi ! I'm trying to develop a thread abstraction (POSIX thread and thread from the Windows API), and I would very much like it to be able to start them with a method pointer, and not a function pointer. What I would like to do is an abstraction of thread being a class with a pure virtual method "runThread", which would be implanted in the future threaded class. I don't know yet about the Windows thread, but to start a POSIX thread, you need a function pointer, and not a method pointer. And I can't manage to find a way to associate a method with an instance so it could work as a function. I probably just can't find the keywords (and I've been searching a lot), I think it's pretty much what Boost::Bind() does, so it must exist. Can you help me ?

• Dates search in Drupal (greater than, less than) using CCK / views / facelet?

  I'm working in a site that manage events (like parties). Each event could have several fields, including date, that the user could add thanks to CCK module. Now, the problem is when I have to search using those fields. I could not find how to search for events between a range of dates. I discover the facelet module, which is pretty good, and it is very useful for some kind of search, but as far as I can see it is not possible search in a range. Also I do some testing using views, but again, with no results. I can not find how to search a date "greater than" and "less than". I will really appreciate any help.

• The best approach to customize Bootstrap Less files and keep it easy to be updated to future versions

  I'm wondering what the best way would be to customize the less files in Bootstrap and, at the mean time, keep it easy to be updated to future Bootstrap versions. It's straightforward to just modify the less files, but the problem is that when the next version of Bootstrap comes out, it might be painful to upgrade (because all the changes are already deeply mixed with the original sources.) Another approach would be similar to the open closed principle, that is, keeping the original less files unchanged, and adding my customized less files to overwrite the CSS rules I need. When Bootstrap gets updated, (hopefully) I can simply replace the less files and everything would work magically. However, regardless of the correctness of my assumption, the same CSS rules would be scattered in even more places and hard to manage. Also, the more we overwrite the CSS (not for compatibility or other purposes), the more bandwidth we waste. I know this highly depends on how the author of Bootstrap would handle the structure of the framework or even the naming of CSS rules, but I'd still like to hear everybody's opinions. Thanks.

• How to Best Setup a Website Project in VS.NET

  I have very little experience with setting up a website from scratch in a .NET environment. As I am doing this now, I am wondering - what's the best way to go? Is it better to create a new Website Project, and include the various backend services and database code as part of that project, or is it better to split out the various aspects of the project? If the second, how would I go about doing that? I want to ensure that this project is easy to manage in the future (in terms of source control, deployment, etc), so I want to make sure I'm starting off on the right foot. I was unable to find any tutorials online, but if you have any, I would appreciate those as well. Thanks!

• Windows 8 Set User Account Image

  I'm trying to write a small CONSOLE (not metro style) app to quickly change the user account image of the current user to a select image for a setup scrip that I'm running on a bunch of laptops. They're all Windows 8 and (since it hasn't been out terribly long) I can't find a ton of info on it. I did manage to figure out that you need to use the Windows.System.UserProfile object to do so, but I can't find any documentation on how to do so in a console app. Thoughts? Suggestions?

  I am building a simple particle system and want to use a single array buffer of structs to manage my particles. That said, I can't find a C function that allows me to malloc() and free() from an arbitrary buffer. Here is some pseudocode to show my intent: Particle* particles = (Particle*) malloc( sizeof(Particle) * numParticles ); Particle* firstParticle = <buffer_alloc>( particles ); initialize_particle( firstParticle ); // ... Some more stuff if (firstParticle->life < 0) <buffer_free>( firstParticle ); // @ program's end free(particles); Where <buffer_alloc> and <buffer_free> are functions that allocate and free memory chunks from arbitrary pointers (possibly with additional metadata such as buffer length, etc.). Do such functions exist and/or is there a better way to do this? Thank you!

• Utilizing a third party application for GitHub in a django project

  I'm trying to use a third party application located here: git://github.com/Star2Billing/django-audiofield.git I'm using Aptana Studio as my IDE. I created my project and then I clicked on the project and imported the app from the github location. It looked like it imported. I wanted to check that it imported properly before beginning any real coding so I performed manage.py validate. I got a message that stated: "No module named audiofield". I added the app to my Installed Apps settings and followed the installation instructions. I'm not sure if I'm importing it incorrectly. Also, I'm using virtualenv in Aptana. I'm not sure if this may have added to the problem. Please help.

• Django development server serving css but not js

  I am developing a django (1.4) app on my local machine. I am running the built-in development server with python manage.py runserver. In base.html I have: <link href="{{ STATIC_URL }}bootstrap.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="{{ STATIC_URL }}boostrap-dropdown.js" type="text/javascript"></script> boostrap.css loads just fine when I load a page, but bootstrap-dropdown.js is 404'd. They are sitting right next to each other in my static directory. Relevant parts of settings.py: STATIC_URL = '/static/' STATICFILES_DIRS = ( '/home/username/projects/projectname/static',) Debug is set to True. I have tried it both with and without the staticfiles_urlpatterns trick. Django can find one file in the directory but not the other? I think I'm going crazy.

• Managing a list of threads

  Hi, I have an application (.Net 3.5) which creates threads to write something to the database so that the GUI does not block. All created threads are added to a list, so that I can wait (Thread.Join) for each thread when the application is closed (maybe not all threads are finished when the application is closed, so the app must wait for them). Because of the list I get some serious problems if there are too many threads created (OutOfMemoryException). I tried removing finished threads from the list, but somehow that didn't work. Are there better ways to manage a list of threads, so I can remove them once they are finished?

• C# - Silverlight - Custom control or UserControl ?

  I need a button that is visually completely customizable, but has custom logic to publish events and manage it's visual state based on events it has registered for. When I say visually customizable, I mean I should be able to both create the button in xaml and set it's style by binding to the supplied style. Or I can create an instance of the button and set the style by passing a parameter to an alternate constructor. Or by calling a method on the button class to set the style. I do not plan on substituting the controls template, it should be a button. Can anyone point me to some code samples of this?

  Hi, I've got a table with the following columns: ID, sysid, x, y, z, timereceived ID is a unique number for each row. sysid is an ID number for a specific device (about 100 different of these) x, y and z is data received from the device. (totally random numbers) timereceived is a timestamp for when the data was received. I need a SQL query to show me the last inserted row for device a, device b, device c and so on. I've been playing around with a lot of different Select statements, but never got anything that works. I manage to get unique rows by using group by, but the rest of the information is random (or at least it feels very random). Anyone able to help me? There could be hundreds of thousands records in this table.

When you're offered six months free support do you never get an answer and finally when you make layout changes to one page, does a completely unrelated business logic completely break down? So really two questions: Why do authors of such systems put them up for sale before they're completed? How to exact revenge on said author? Thanks.

Since I didn't understand how to translate pointers or other derivated types from JNI documentation I tried to use an automating tool for this, gluegen and SWIG, but I couldn't manage on how to use them. I tried to create an interface file for SWIG but it only gives errors. Is there an example on how to load a dll to a java program using ANY tool that works and can generate translated C function and types from .h files ?

  I have 1 magento installation with 2 websites. i want to set a subcategory from website 1 as rootcategory of website 2. and i don't know the id of the category, because this is local and has to work on production with other categories. So i can't set the id of the wanted category in code. it must be adjustable in the backend. in system-manage stores- select a store here you can set the rootcategory but there are no subcategories available. is the only solution to build a module to select the id of the category?

  Installed SharePoint Services v3 (SP2, october 2009 cumulative updates, Language Pack), attached to a content database I had previously (all works). Installed Search server 2008 Express (with language pack) on top of WSS and crawl does not work. However it works for newly created web application + database. Was playing around with accounts, permissions to try get it working. • Metro apps crash on startup, driver or permissions issue?

  After installing Win8 x64 RC, Metro apps worked correctly, but desktop OpenGL apps were slow and unresponsive. I installed the latest Win8 nVidia drivers, and the OpenGL apps started working correctly. At the same time, because of annoying permission messages, I changed the C:\ drive and all its files ownerships to my user, and gave it full permission. I restarted my pc after installing the drivers, and now Metro apps only show the splash screen, then crash. I tried installing other versions of the nVidia drivers, with the same result. My GPU is a GeForce GTX275. Is this a known problem with nVidia drivers? Or maybe changing the ownership of C:\ is the real problem? Thank you. • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. Should I deinstall the unicenter service and make a fresh installation on the server or should I remove the Windows Server 2003 SP2?   I recently installed OpenVPN on my Ubuntu VPS. Whenenver I try to connect to it, I can establish a connection just fine. However, everything I try to connect to times out. If I try to ping something, it will resolve the IP, but will time out after resolving the IP. (So DNS Server seems to be working correctly) My server.conf has this relevant information (At least I think it's relevant. • Blocking access to websites with objective-C / root privileges in objective-C

  I am writing a program in Objective-C (XCode 3.2, on Snow Leopard) that is capable of either selectively blocking certain sites for a duration or only allow certain sites (and thus block all others) for a duration. The reasoning behind this program is rather simple. I tend to get distracted when I have full internet access, but I do need internet access during my working hours to get to a number of work-related websites. Clearly, this is not a permanent block, but only helps me to focus whenever I find myself wandering a bit too much. At the moment, I am using a Unix script that is called via AppleScript to obtain Administrator permissions. It then activates a number of ipfw rules and clears those after a specific duration to restore full internet access. Simple and effective, but since I am running as a standard user, it gets cumbersome to enter my administrator password each and every time I want to go "offline". Furthermore, this is a great opportunity to learn to work with XCode and Objective-C. At the moment, everything works as expected, minus the actual blocking. I can add a number of sites in a list, specify whether or not I want to block or allow these websites and I can "start" the blocking by specifying a time until which I want to stay "offline". However, I find it hard to obtain clear information on how I can run a privileged Unix command from Objective-C. Ideally, I would like to be able to store information with respect to the Administrator account into the Keychain to use these later on, so that I can simply move into "offline" mode with the convenience of clicking a button. Even more ideally, there might be some class in Objective-C with which I can block access to some/all websites for this particular user without needing to rely on privileged Unix commands. A third possibility is in starting this program with root permissions and the reducing the permissions until I need them, but since this is a GUI application that is nested in the menu bar of OS X, the results are rather awkward and getting it to run each and every time with root permission is no easy task.   I just installed SharePoint 2010 on my Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server with SQL Server 2008. Everything is installed on this single server, and I configured SharePoint 2010 as described here: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/blogs/fromthefield/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=112 Everything installed correct, and the SQL databases were created. But when I try to access the administration site through http://server:47632/_admin/adminconfigintro.aspx, I get the following exception: [HttpException] at System.Web.Util.FileUtil.CheckSuspiciousPhysicalPath(String physicalPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.CachedPathData.GetConfigPathData(String configPath) at System.Web.HttpContext.GetFilePathData() at System.Web.Configuration.CustomErrorsSection.GetSettings(HttpContext context, Boolean canThrow) at System.Web.HttpResponse.ReportRuntimeError(Exception e, Boolean canThrow, Boolean localExecute) at System.Web.HttpRuntime.FinishRequest(HttpWorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context, Exception e) The same error occurs when accessing http://server:47632/.
