• Should I Solve this with Multithreading in Ruby?

  I have a strange case, here's the sequence of actions: User edits a document and hits save Application sends GET request to service Service sends POST request back to application in the middle of responding to the GET request Application, in the same state as when it made the GET request, responds to the POST request (sends document data) to service. Service sends data back to Application (responding to original GET request) Application handles the rest... The use case is this: I was thinking how can I make Yahoo Pipes POST data? Specifically, I want it to be able to update Google Docs when a user makes a change locally (on a custom editor). So user edits doc, makes GET request to Yahoo Pipes, Pipes makes a POST request back to App to get the document (Pipes can only make this type of POST request), App sends doc, Pipes formats data according to the Google API, Pipes responds to GET request with Google API formatted XML, App makes the post request. Theoretically, how would I accomplish this? It seems that I need to create a separate ruby Process for the GET request, and when Pipes sends the POST request, I find that process and send its output, then I'm stuck. This would cut out the need for a database for this particular case (I could save the stuff temporarily in a database, but that doesn't seem right). Any ideas? This would make it so I don't have to format things to the Google API in ruby, I could leave that to Pipes.

• Fun with "The remote server returned an error: NotFound" - Silverlight4 Out of Browser

  Hey all - I'm running SL4 on VS2010. I've got an app that authenticates via a web service to SPROC in my db. Unfortunately this is not WCF/WCF RIA, as I'm inheriting the DB/services from my client. This works perfectly inside of a browser. I'm attempting to move this OOB, and it's at this point that my authentication fails. Here's the steps I took... 1) SL App Properties Enable running app Out of Browser 2) SL App Properties Out of Browser Settings Require elevated trust when running OOB If i set a breakpoint on my logon button click, I see the service call is being made. However, if I step through it (or set a breakpoint on the actual logon web service), the code never gets that far. Here's the block it fails on: public LogonSVC.LogonResponse EndLogon(System.IAsyncResult result) { object[] _args = new object[0]; LogonSVC.LogonResponse _result = ((LogonSVC.LogonResponse)(base.EndInvoke("Logon", _args, result))); return _result; } I know using Elevated Trust means the crossdomain.xml isn't necessary.   Hi, I'm trying to create "imagemaps" on an image in wpf using codebehind. • Need help with a PHP proxy script

  I’m currently working on a small web app that allows people to search for music album covers. However, I’m having a problem getting my PHP proxy to work. Right now I’m using a simple PHP proxy script to grab the HTML from Google’s image result page, and parse it to find the first image result (I can’t use the image search API because it doesn’t offer the parameters that I need to use). I know that the PHP script works in some way, because I’ve used it to grab XML data across domains, so I also assume that since I’m trying to grab HTML that’s what’s causing the error. So anyway, here is the site where you can see it: http://www.5byfive.net/beta/index.html Just type something into the textbox, and it will come up with the error that’s returned (I’ve placed the HTML into a file so you can see what it actually looks like here: http://www.5byfive.net/beta/error.html ). • Android : Handle OAuth callback using intent-filter

  I am building an Android application that requires OAuth. I have all the OAuth functionality working except for handling the callback from Yahoo. I have the following in my AndroidManifest.xml : <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW"></action> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"></category> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"></category> <data android:host="www.test.com" android:scheme="http"></data> </intent-filter> Where www.test.com will be substituted with a domain that I own. It seems : This filter is triggered when I click on a link on a page. It is not triggered on the redirect by Yahoo, the browser opens the website at www.test.com It is not triggered when I enter the domain name directly in the browser. So can anybody help me with When exactly this intent-filter will be triggered? Any changes to the intent-filter or permissions that will widen the filter to apply to redirect requests? Any other approaches I could use? Thanks for your help.

It seems to be related to the fact that my composite component has a child and I'm trying to add one in the place I'm using the component. So how can I do this correctly? • How can I map stored procedure result into a custom class with linq-to-sql?

  I have a stored procedure that returns a result set (4 columns x n Rows). The data is based on multiple tables within my database and provides a summary for each department within a corporate. Here is sample: usp_GetDepartmentSummary DeptName EmployeeCount Male Female HR 12 5 7 etc... I am using linq-to-sql to retrieve data from my database (nb - have to use sproc as it is something I have inherited). I would like to call the above sproc and map into a department class: public class Department { public string DeptName {get; set;} public int EmployeeCount {get; set;} public int MaleCount {get; set;} public int FemaleCount {get; set;} } In VS2008, I can drag and drop my sproc onto the methods pane of the linq-to-sql designer. When I examine the designer.cs the return type for this sproc is defined as: ISingleResult<usp_GetDepartmentSummaryResult> What I would like to do is amend this somehow so that it returns a Department type so that I can pass the results of the sproc as a strongly typed view: <% foreach (var dept in Model) { %> <ul> <li class="deptname"><%= dept.DeptName %></li> <li class="deptname"><%= dept.EmployeeCount %></li> etc... Any ideas how to achieve this? NB - I have tried amending the designer.cs and dbml xml file directly but with limited success.   I am starting one POS (Point of sale) project. Targeting system is going to be written in C# .NET 2 WinForms and as main database server We are going to use MS-SQL Server. As we have a lot of POS devices in chain for one store I will love to have backend local data base system on each POS device. Scenario are following: When main server goes down!! POS application should continue working "off-line" with local database, until connection to main server come up again. Now I am in dilemma which local database is going to be most adoptable for me. Here is some notes for helping me point me in right direction: To be Light "My POS devices art usually old and suffering with performances" To be Free "I have a lot of devices and I do not wont additional cost beside main SQL serer" One day Ill love to try all that port on Mono and Linux OS. Here is what I've researched so far: Simple XML "Light but I am afraid of performance, My main table of items is average of 10K records" SQL-Express "I am afraid that my POS devices is poor with hardware for SQLExpress, and also hard to install on each device and configure" Less known Advantage Database Server have free distribution of offline ADT system. DBF with extended Library,"Respect for good old DBFs but that era is behind Me with clipper and DBFs" MS Access Sqlite "Mostly like for now, but I am afraid how it is going to pair with MS SQL do they have same Data types". I know that in this SO is a lot of subjective data, but at least can someone recommended some others lite database system, or things that I shod most take attention before I choice database.

  I am encountering a problem when using LINQ in C#, I am constantly getting "Specified cast is not valid". This is what I am trying to do. I create a class in which I declare all the columns of the table. • Logback: What would cause DEBUG - WARN to append to file but NOT ERROR?

  I am running a Java program from Eclipe, and I am using the logback console plugin. I can see the ERROR level statements being appended to console (as well as all of the others). But for some reason my file, which is correctly recieving new DEBUG-WARN statements, is NOT recieving the ERROR level ones. • How to remove Modules from a Intellij Maven Project permanently?

  I am currently working on a larger scale Maven-based project in IntelliJIdea 12.1.6 Ultimate. I have been working with IntelliJIdea since about 5 months. An included module has dependencies on another module. The dependent module's source was also part of my project until recently. Since I removed the dependent module from my project, I get compile errors whenever I am trying to compile the source without maven. The pom.xml of removed modules in Intellij seem to be placed onto the Settings-Maven-Ignored Files. I cant seem to remove it from there, only check or uncheck it. It's not possible to include the module again since IntelliJ will say its still under Ignored Files. 2 ways allow me to compile again: Uncheck the pom from Ignored files, which will include the module again in my project. Or delete the source of the dependent project, so my project will load the dependent module from the maven repository. But whenever I update my project from svn, the source of the dependent module is restored (I don't know why this even happens since its not part my project) and the cycle begins anew. I googled this for a while since it gets really annoying. It became a problem with several excluded modules. I could rebuild the intellij-project but since a lot of IntelliJ settings were made (not related to the problem) I would rather solve this. Any help is appreciated, I guess I must be missing something

I use rich:editor with these attributes: (Irrelevant data removed) HtmlEditor editor = new HtmlEditor(); editor.setValueExpression("value", ve); editor.setTheme("advanced"); editor.setValueExpression("viewMode", viewModeValueExpression); panel.getChildren().add(editor); Now my problem is that whenever I load a ready-made html text such as this (In source mode): <html lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <head> <title>Done</title> </head> <body style="direction: ltr; font-size: medium; color: #0000FF;"> <p>When the menu loads, navigate to and open Image Editor.</p> </body> </html> Change to VisualMode and then back to SourceMode, I see that the editor removed all of my html data and now the source mode is this: <p>When the menu loads, navigate to and open Chul Muzal.</p> Anyone knows why this happens? • codegen:nullValue vs msprop:nullValue

  Ok, I have datasets that I created way back in 1.1 framework to which we used codegen:nullValue within the XSD to handle null values. However if I open one of these datasets with vs 2005 (i.e. 2.0 framework) and add a column, it removes the codegen setting from the entire xsd but adds in msprop:nullValue However, unlike previous years, I noticed this time the proper property code was NOT over riden from returning the null value specified in codegen as it was doing in the past. Meaning the msprop appears to be creating the proper code behind the scenes (See example). Anyone know of any other differnces? Should I be concerned with deploying a new xsd, WITHOUT the codegen code but instead with the msprop xml? Example: Original creates _ Public Property ParentID() As Integer Get If Me.IsParentIDNull Then Return -1 Else Return CType(Me(Me.tableCompany.ParentIDColumn),Integer) End If End Get Set Me(Me.tableCompany.ParentIDColumn) = value End Set End Property New creates _ Public Property ParentID() As Integer Get If Me.IsParentIDNull Then Return -1 Else Return CType(Me(Me.tableCompany.ParentIDColumn),Integer) End If End Get Set Me(Me.tableCompany.ParentIDColumn) = value End Set End Property BUT is there anything else that might be occuring that I am NOT seeing thus MAKING me re-enter all the codegen settings? • Granite DS Actionscript Code Generation Ant cannot find class error

  I am trying to get my Ant build to run the granite DS Actionscript code generation task and am running into some problems. At the moment I am getting this error: BUILD FAILED C...\build.xml:62: Could not load Java class file: SampleDTOOne.class So the .class files are obviously being found. I am not however sure if this error means that the it cannot load the .class file or that it cannot find the actual java source code. My Ant task definition looks like this: <classpath> <pathelement location="C.../src/packages/" /> </classpath> <fileset dir="${base.build.dir}/jc/classes/gpbit/packageName"> <include name="*.class" /> </fileset> </gas3> I have tried many different values for the classpath but cannot get anythign to work. I do not like the path that I am using to find the .class files but again at the moment this is the only one I can get to work. None of the variables seem to make it any easier to get to this location. The fileset is definitely working as it definitely found the .clas files to include the name in the error message. More detailed error message: [gas3] Using output dir: C...trunk\plugin\build/etc/src/as3 [gas3] Using classpath: C...\trunk\plugin\src\packages [gas3] Loading all Java classes referenced by inner fileset(s) { [gas3] java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: SampleDTOOne [gas3] at org.apache.tools.ant.AntClassLoader.findClassInComponents(AntClassLoader.java:1361) any help much appreciated

• Flex: Menubar, menu click

  I do not know why but I see that itemclick event on a menubar do not fired unless you click a sub item. What is the clean way to handle clicks on menuitems which are on the top level and do not have sub menu items. • What's the most efficient way to setup a multi-lingual website

  Hi, I'm developing a website that will be available in different languages. It is a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) setup, and it makes use of Smarty, mostly for the template engine. The way we currently translate is by a self-written smarty plugin, which will recognize certain tags in the HTML files, and will find the corresponding tag in an earlier defined language file. The HTML could look as follows: <p>Hi, welcome to $#gamedesc;!</p> And the language file could look like this: gamedesc:Poing 2009$; welcome:this is another tag$; Which would then output <p>Hi, welcome to Poing 2009!</p> This system is very basic, but it is pretty hard to control, if I f.e. would like to keep track of what has been translated so far, or give certain users the rights to translate only certain tags. I've been looking at some alternative ways to approach this, by either replacing the text-file with XML files which could store some extra meta-data, or by perhaps storing all the texts in the database, and retrieving it there. My question is, what would be the best way to make this system both maintainable and perform well with high user-traffic? Are there perhaps any (lightweight) plugins I could take a look at?

• Existing parsers in c# (BSD license or similar)

  I am looking for parsers (in C#) for a bunch of formats. (PHP, ASP, some XML based formats, HTML,...pretty much anything I can get my hands on.) The purpose is to separate the text from the code and do some edits without messing up the code. I had a look at ANTLR, but while it seems like the "right tool", there is just too much prior knowledge assumed. I have an easier time writing a parser from scratch than understanding how to "easily" generate parsers from ANTLR. (I wrote a small parser for a specific type of RTF files within a couple days, so the task is probably within my reach, but as I have no formal knowledge of parsing/lexing, I am at loss with ANTLR) Then it occurred to me that there must existing parsers for many formats, so before I start writing yet another a brand new and potentially buggy version of the wheel, I figured I would check what parsers already exist and can be reused in a commercial product. I could use parsers for just about every format in existence, so this question would be a good place to make a list of all existing free parsers written in C#, if there are any. • JavaScript alert not working in Android WebView

  In my application I am using WebView and in that I am using JavaScript alert( ) method but its not working, no pop-up appears. in my manifest file I have added <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"></uses-permission> and in activity file I have added mWebView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); mWebView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); mWebView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/demo.html"); In layout xml file I have added <WebView android:id="@+id/webview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> Any clue how to enable full JavaScript in WebView. Now there are two issues in WebView : 1: I am using a in the html file that i am loading in WebView , and trying to write in Hindi language font in it, but when i try to write Hindi text it displays as symbols ( rectangle symbols like [] ) . when i do the same in firefox browser on desktop it works fine. any clue how to give support for multiple language in textarea in WebView ? 2: When I am clicking submit and trying to open the value of text in alert() method in another java script it doesn't work , does it mean even after using WebChromeClient its applicable only for current loaded html page and not java scripts called from that page ?

• When I include only the jQuery 1.4 Library, I get an exception, why?

  I keep getting this error all over the place where I only have jquery 1.3 or 1.4 included. "setting a property that has only a getter" and a long list of warnings in the Firefox Error Console. • ASP.Net MVC: Showing the same data using different layouts...

  Hi guys I'm wanting to create a page that allows the users to select how they would like to view their data - i.e. summary (which supports grouping), grid (which supports grouping), table (which supports grouping), map, time line, xml, json etc. Now each layout would probably have different use a different view model, which inherit from a common base class/view model. The reason being that each layout needs the object structure that it deals with to be different (some need hierarchical others a flatter structure). Each layout would call the same repository method and each layout would support the same functionality, i.e. searching and filtering (hence these controls would be shared between layouts). The main exception to this would be sorting which only grid and table views would need to support. Now my question is given this what do people think is the best approach. Using DisplayFor to handle the rendering of the different types? Also how do I work this with the actions... I would imagine that I would use the one action, and pass in the layout types, but then how does this support the grouping required for the summary, grid and table views. Do i treat each grouping as just a layout type Also how would this work from a URL point of view - what do people think is the template to support this layout functionality Cheers Anthony

• Redirecting users after destroy

  I have 3 models: Questions, Answers, and Profiles (I know, it should be called "Users"). When you view a question Q, I query the database for the answers to Q. (They are linked by id.) I want it to redirect to /questions/Q. What's the best way to do this? I know that there's a redirect_to method, but I don't know how to implement it when I want to redirect to an action for a different controller. It also needs to remember the question from which the answer is being deleted. I tried passing something like :question_id in link_to as: #{link_to 'Delete my answer', a, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :question_id => @question.id, :method => :delete} In AnswersController#destroy: def destroy @answer = Answer.find(params[:id]) @answer.destroy respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to(answers_url) } format.xml { head :ok } end @question = Question.find(params[:question_id]) redirect_to question_path(@question) end The :question_id information is not passed to the destroy method, so I get this error: Couldn't find Question without an ID To confirm, I added a puts call before Question.find, and it returned nil.
