  • How do I replace "this" in Java with something that works.

    I'm looking to get the showGUI() method work, the compiler says "this" is not a static variable and cannot be referenced from a static context, what would I use to replace "this"? I've tried test.main (test being the package it's in). The reason I'm using the static method showGUI() is because I need the method to be called from another static method, as well as the startup() method.     Apple uses "modal" often in their documentation. Like dismissModalViewController in their titles of methods, or documentation like: "The UIViewController class provides the fundamental view-management model for iPhone applications. The basic view controller class supports the presentation of an associated view in addition to basic support for managing modal views and rotating views in response to device orientation changes. Subclasses such as UINavigationController and UITabBarController provide additional behavior for managing complex hierarchies of view controllers and views." I'm not sure as to what context I should think of when I see modal in the names and documentation. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    I am trying to redirect an old website that was on Godaddy's website builder and Quick Blogcast to a new site on Wordpress. I have no problems redirecting from the old page structure to the new one. For example: For example: http://sapientservicesllc.com/About_Us.html redirected to http://sapientservicesllc.com/about-us/ I used: 301 redirect /About_Us.html http://sapientservicesllc.com/about-us/ In the htaccess file. My problem is that I need to redirect all of the blog posts that were on a subdomain to the new wordpress site.   • Why is MenuItem.AdapterContextMenuInfo null when my list view has a custom adapter?

    My question: Before I go and use an OnLongClickListener, is there a better way to pass the "what was clicked to create this context menu" information when your list view has a custom adapter? Here are some details: Normally, my code can just do something like this: public boolean onContextItemSelected(MenuItem item) { AdapterContextMenuInfo info = (AdapterContextMenuInfo) item.getMenuInfo(); and then go on and be happy. However, ever since I introduced a custom adapter, item.getMenuInfo() is null. This is a big problem, because my code no longer knows which item was clicked. (My custom Adapter makes each list row a checkbox and a text view) I tried this but failed: Created my own special AdapterContextMenuInfo (called "HasAViewMenuInfo"), but when I pass it in this method, it ends up being null in the menu public void onCreateContextMenu(ContextMenu menu, View v, ContextMenuInfo menuInfo) { super.onCreateContextMenu(menu, v, new HasAViewMenuInfo(v));

I have an Audio model which has a mp3 field as follows: class Audio < ActiveRecord::Base has_attached_file :mp3, :storage => :s3, :s3_credentials => S3_CREDENTIALS, :bucket => S3_CREDENTIALS[:bucket], :path => ":rails_root/public/system/:attachment/:id/:style/:filename", :url => "/system/:attachment/:id/:style/:filename" I am calling audio.mp3.url from a controller, and it returns http://s3.amazonaws.com/MyApp/audios/mp3s//original/96a9ae89302fdf8462ee05eb829f2e17578b144e20120908-2-11f61zr.mp3?1347135050 instead of http://s3.amazonaws.com/MyApp/audios/mp3s/000/000/004/original/96a9ae89302fdf8462ee05eb829f2e17578b144e20120908-2-11f61zr.mp3?1347135050 (which works) Why is it missing the '000/000/004' part of the route? The same model is generating the right URL when used in a view. Any help? I am using paperclip 3.2.0 and Rails 3.1.8. Any help?

I have a VS 2010 Web project up and I'm trying to understand how I can make a custom UpdateCommand (Because I chose to write my own SQL statement, I do not have the option for VS 2010 to auto generate an update command for me.) Problem is: I don't know what the UpdateCommand should look like.     I am evaluating user inputs as commands for my application. If the user presses Q, or q, and then hits enter, the application quits and execution terminates. Is there a proper context, or best practices on how to do that? I do not have any resources to release, or anything like that. Should I just use System.exit(0);? Is there a recommended way to do that?   • Silently binding a variable instance to a class in C++?

    So I've got a plugin-based system I'm writing. Users can create a child class of a Plugin class and then it will be loaded at runtime and integrated with the rest of the system. When a Plugin is run from the system, it's run in the context of a group of plugins, which I call a Session. My problem is that inside the user plugins, two streaming classes called pf_ostream and pf_istream can be used to read/write data to the system. I'd like to bind the plugin instance's session variable to pf_ostream and pf_istream somehow so that when the user instantiates those classes, it's already bound to the session for them (basically I don't want them to see the session internals) I could just do this with a macro, wrapping a call to the constructor like: #define MAKE_OSTREAM = pf_ostream_int(this->session) But I thought there might be a better way. I looked at using a nested class inside Plugin wrapping pf_ostream but it appears nested classes don't get access to the enclosing classes variables in a closure sort of way. Does anyone know of a neat way to do this?

    Normally I would do this: public class DBFactory { public UserDAO GetUserDao() { return new UserDao(); } } Where UserDao being the concrete implementation of IUserDao. So now my code will be littered with: DBFactory factory = new DBFactory(); IUserDao userDao = factory.GetUserDao(); User user = userDao.GetById(1); Now if I wanted to swap implementaitons, I would have to go to my DBFactory and change my code to call a different implementation. Now if I used NINject, I would bind the specific implementation on application startup, or via a config file. (or bind based on specific parameters etc. etc.). Is that all there is too it? Or is there more? (reason I am asking if I want to know how it will help me here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1930328/help-designing-a-order-manager-class)

  • Java Authenticator on a per connection basis?

    I'm building an Eclipse plugin that talks to a REST interface which uses Basic Authentication. When the authentication fails I would like to popup my plugin's settings dialog and retry. Normally I could use the static Authenticator.setDefault() to setup an authenticator for all HttpURLConnection's for this, but since I am writing a plugin I don't want to overwrite Eclipse's default Authenticator (org.eclipse.ui.internal.net.auth); I thought of setting my custom Authenticator before loading and putting Eclipse's default back afterwards, but I imagine this will cause all sorts of race issues with multithreading so I quickly lost that notion. Google searches yield all sorts of results basically telling me it's not possible: The Java URLConnection API should have a setAuthenticator(Authenticator) method for making it easier to use this class in multi-threaded context where authentication is required. Source If applications contains few third party plugins and each plugin use its own Authenticator what we should do? Each invocation of "Authenticator.setDefault()" method rewrite previously defined Authenticator... Source Are there any different approaches that might help me overcome this issue?

  • Apache crashes after installing mysqli

    System: Apache 2.2 running on Windows 2008 Server with PHP 5.2.17 VC6 Thread-Safe as a Module and MySQL 5.5.17 - all working fine. After installing mysqli using the php package, Apache won't start anymore. There is no error message in the log. What I have tried: Make sure Windows PATH points to libmysql.dll: Yes, done. Make sure extension_dir points to the right point: Yes. Other extensions load fine. Try without mysqli: Yes, Apache loads fine then. Try without mysql: Yes, does not help. Test mysql itself: Restarts server! Overwrite libmysql: Yes, does not help. It seems to me that there is some general problem with MySql, but the DB server seems to be running fine. I'm really out of ideas of things I could try, so I'm desperate for any hints or tricks.

The author says that Monad gives us context sensitivity, but it's possible to achieve the same result using only an Applicative instance: let maybeAge = (\futureYear birthYear -> if futureYear < birthYear then yearDiff birthYear futureYear else yearDiff futureYear birthYear) <$> (readMay futureYearString) <*> (readMay birthYearString) It's uglier for sure, but beside that I don't see why we need Monad. Can anyone clear this up for me?

The result that I get is the same element as "curElement". So how can I get the right submit button?

    Hi I am new to jQuery, and this is the page I'm currently developing. http://90.230.237.71/gandhi.html (Hope that works now :P) When I hit "Show/hide gallery" all the images are first opened vertically, and later they are corrected to their horizontal placement, that's the problem. They should be horizontal right away! I don't know if this is due to jQuerys slideDown or entirely CSS-related, but the code is all there for you. Initally, the images are set to display: none, perhaps they then are invisibly stored vertically. Then slideDown is performed and last, the CSS-attributes are changed to "display: inline". Perhaps I need to change execution order of slideDown and setting the CSS-attributes... but how? I NEED HELP... for many reasons, but I only want you to help me with this one ;) And also, please actually look at the code before making any assumptions. It's all there in the code.

  • Find -type d with no subfolders

    Good morning ! This is a simple one I believe, but I am still a noob :) I am trying to find all folders with a certain name. I am able to do this with the command find /path/to/look/in/ -type d | grep .texturedata The output gives me lots of folders like this : /path/to/look/in/.texturedata/v037/animBMP But I would like it to stop at .texturedata : /path/to/look/in/.texturedata/ I have hundreds of these paths and would like to lock them down by piping the output of grep into chmod 000 I was given a command with the argument -dpe once, but I have no idea what it does and the Internet has not be able to help me determine it's usage Thanks you very much for your help !
