    I'm trying to update Eclipse 5.3.1 (on Gentoo Linux) from the Galileo Discovery Site and I get this error message: Network connection problems encountered during search. Unable to access "http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo". Error accessing site stream. [Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd] Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd Error accessing site stream. [Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd] Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd It seems the 503 error code is intended to stop software from constantly downloading this file from w3.org. But how do I persuade Eclipse to stop requesting it?

  • A better way of switching between Android source versions

    I would like to be able to switch between various android releases (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, etc.) and then access them via the file system to copy all files for that version into a tarball. Currently I am just running repo init -u <source URL> -b release-1. to get each version (changing the tag for each version I need). If this was a single git, I could check out the branch/tag I needed and the prject directory would "morph" to reflect then and I could just tar that folder. since the android source is split into multiple git repositories controlled by repo I have not yet found a way to change this other then the method mentioned above. any suggestions are appreciated.

  • Cap deploy doesn't work all the sudden; something to do with FactoryGirl and assets

    I've been cap deploying my app all throughout it development, and this last time I tried to deploy it, it didn't work. I don't get why that command would have tried to do anything with FactoryGirl, though. Any ideas?

    I will have one streaming-server (W2k8, unknown streaming protocol [rtsp, mss, http]) and half dozen streaming-servers as proxies to save bandwidth. I have read the documentation and installed the modules, but I am unsure how I have to configure the proxy's according to http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee126142(en-us,WS.10).aspx - as a proxy or reverse proxy and how I minimize the bandwidth needs between origin server and proxy's. What is the best way to realize my setup? Any short how-tos? How can I announce all players to use the proxy? Route all rtsp/mms/http-requests through my proxy? Announce the proxy with DHCP-releases?   • Dispelling the UIImage imageNamed: FUD

    I see a lot of people saying imageNamed is bad but equal numbers of people saying the performance is good - especially when rendering UITableViews. See this SO question for example or this article on iPhoneDeveloperTips.com UIImage's imageNamed method used to leak so it was best avoided but has been fixed in recent releases. I'd like to understand the caching algorithm better in order to make a reasoned decision about where I can trust the system to cache my images and where I need to go the extra mile and do it myself. My current basic understanding is that it's a simple NSMutableDictionary of UIImages referenced by filename. It gets bigger and when memory runs out it gets a lot smaller. For example, does anyone know for sure that the image cache behind imageNamed does not respond to didReceiveMemoryWarning? It seems unlikely that Apple would not do this. If you have any insight into the caching algorithm, please post it here.

  • Solving iPhone/iPad out of memory issues

    I have a strange issue where I'm scrolling through a paged UIScrollView which displays the pages of a PDF document (using Quartz 2D and CATiledLayer). When I page through memory allocation looks fine with it going up with a few initial pages and then keeping it steady as it obviously releases the memory kept for earlier pages. Upon hitting page x (not a certain PDF page or a certain number per se) memory usage goes from a couple of megs to 308 megs and the app crashes. So my question is: how to best try to find what's causing this? The object alloc tool in instruments shows the memory as simply going to malloc. (in huge chunks).

    Our application needs to use two different kinds of databases.One is oracle, the other is mysql and we want to use maven plugin hbm2ddl to generate the ddl file, and want to output the two ddl files at the same time, I don't know how to set the configuration in pom.xml.     Hi guys Hoping someone can help out.. I've been scouring the net for a simple how-to to get a good log4cxx program working, with steps on setting up the libraries, dependants, directives, library paths etc etc.. as of yet i've found a lot of valuable but disjointed information.. trying to pull it all together has been a bit of a nightmare, so i'm reaching out and wondering if any kind soul knows of, or could put together a simple how-to, to get a standard win32 console app running with either static or dynamically linked release mode log4cxx.. I have win32 binary releases of the libraries, and thanks to a very cool dude from "Must a blog have a name" I have a win32 project which can build log4cxx.. i just cant bloody use it :) It would be really helpful to me, and probably to others, to be able to refer to something like this and not 20 different pages, with different lists of libraries needed to download and install.. :) Here's hoping Thanks guys J

  • Invoking SQL Loader with a DSN

    I'm trying to load some data to an Oracle database using SQL Loader. Is it possible to invoke it with specifying the server to load the data into using a DSN instead of a TNS? Right now my command line looks like this: sqlldr uesr/password@tns_id..., I'd like to replace tns_id with a DSN that points to tns_id. Can SQL Loader figure out the TNS from the DSN by itself?

  • So do programming languages get updated regularly like everyday applications or are they just x.0 re

    I was wondering if programming languages and frameworks get updated in small increments or are they just x.0 releases? And if they do how do you keep up on all the changes in every update? I am specifically interested in Objective-C and Cocoa and CocoaTouch. I'm learning from books and online PDF's etc, but often they are at best a few years old. I just would like to know if there have been any changes etc. that should concern me and even if not, inevitably there will be, so where can I look out for them?

    Are there any good database schema comparison tools out there that support Sybase SQL Anywhere version 10? I've seen a litany of them for SQL Server, a few for MySQL and Oracle, but nothing that supports SQL Anywhere correctly. I tried using DB Solo, but it turned all my non-unique indexes into unique ones, and I didn't see any options to change that.

  • How to enforce remote gnupg signing of Mercurial repository only when new tags are created?

    I know how to configure the Mercurial signing extension. The problem that I'm having is that I don't want to sign each individual change set, I only want to sign revisions that introduce new version tags. That's easily accomplished locally, however I can't come up with a way to enforce this on the remote server. I'd like people to continue to be able to push their changes as normal, unless adding a release tag, which should be accompanied by a signature. The end result should be that anyone cloning our repository can easily see a list of signed revisions, which point to a list of signed releases. Hopefully, I've just missed something obvious in hooklib. Has anyone else accomplished this, if so, how?

    Hi all, Is anyone aware of a standard way of allowing a user to purchase music from the app store without leaving the app? For instance, if a band has an album for sale on iTunes and then releases an iPhone game featuring the band members, is there a "standard way" to allow the user to buy songs without leaving the app?
