  • Building a CalDAV-server in PHP?

    Ok, so I'm the author of a CMS and I'm interested in building a CalDAV-server that enables the user to interface with my CMS through CalDAV instead of only through the web, so they can see their calendars, add todos and things like that. I've looked at http://www.davical.org/ which is a CalDAV service built in PHP, but it has its own database and I already have the DB stuff done and just want a middle-layer services that translates, both ways, to and from my databases using my functions. Any ideas?

  • Can I call make runtime decided method calls in Java?

    I know there is an invoke function that does the stuff, I am overall interested in the "correctness" of using such a behavior. My issue is this: I have a Service Object witch contains methods which I consider services. What I want to do is alter the behavior of those services without later intrusion. For example: class MyService { public ServiceResponse ServeMeDonuts() { do stuff... return new ServiceResponse(); } after 2 months I find out that I need to offer the same service to a new client app and I also need to do certain extra stuff like setting a flag, or make or updating certain data, or encode the response differently. What I can do is pop it up and throw down some IFs. In my opinion this is not good as it means interaction with tested code and may result in un wanted behaviour for the previous service clients. So I come and add something to my registry telling the system that the "NewClient" has a different behavior. So I'll do something like this: public interface Behavior { public void preExecute(); public void postExecute(); } public class BehaviorOfMyService implements Behavior{ String method; String clientType; public void BehaviorOfMyService(String method,String clientType) { this.method = method; this.clientType = clientType; } public void preExecute() { Method preCall = this.getClass().getMethod("pre" + this.method + this.clientType); if(preCall != null) { return preCall.invoke(); } return false; } ...same for postExecute(); public void preServeMeDonutsNewClient() { do the stuff... } } when the system will do something like this if(registrySaysThereIs different behavior set for this ServiceObject) { Class toBeCalled = Class.forName("BehaviorOf" + usedServiceObjectName); Object instance = toBeCalled.getConstructor().newInstance(method,client); instance.preExecute(); ....call the service... instance.postExecute(); .... } I am not particularly interested in correctness of code as in correctness of thinking and approach. Actually I have to do this in PHP, witch I see as a kind of Pop music of programming which I have to "sing" for commercial reasons, even though I play POP I really want to sing by the book, so putting aside my more or less inspired analogy I really want to know your opinion on this matter for it's practical necessity and technical approach.   • Alternative databases to use when putting IIS Logs into a database using LogParser

    We have run some scripts that use LogParser to dump our IIS logs into a SQL Server database. We can then query this to get simple stats on hits, usage etc. It's also good when linking it to error log databases and performance counter database to compare usage with errors, etc. Having implemented this for just one system and for the last 2-3 weeks we already have a 5GB database with around 10 million records. This is making any queries to this database quite slow and will no doubt cause storage issues if we continue to log as we are. Can anyone suggest any alternative databases that we could use for this data that would be more efficient for such logs? I'd be particularly interested in any experience of Google's BigTable or Amazon's SimbleDB. Are either of these suitable for reporting queries? COUNTs, GROUP BYs, PIVOTs?

  • What's the best way to reference a .DLL - as a normal reference or as a web service?

    Hi, What is the best way to reference an existing .NET dll (Class library)? Is there any benefit to expose web services from the class library and reference these as opposed to referencing the actual .dll (Although one benefit of the web service approach is the granularity and thus surface area exposed is up to you at coding time)? I am thinking with loose coupling in mind, as a criteria. Thanks

  • How can I run a Perl program when I don't have ssh or shell access?

    I just installed an IRC bot, B****X (Don't ask, I don't know - the real name is not censored). I did all of the configuration and chmod'ed the pl files to 755, but running it won't work. My host does not allow SSH/Shell (which is how the documentation says to runs he script), but just going to the URL usually works because of this. However, I get a 500 (Internal Server Error) error.   • BetterAuthorizationSample weird???

    I have a quick, newbie question... I just started looking through authrozation services and Apple's BetterAuthorizationSample... for some reason, I just can't get the hang of it. For example... I deleted the HelperTool and InstallTool and SampleTool.c and all references, but why does the program seem to continue work like nothing happened at all even after a clean build? Even commenting out all the code in SampleTOol.c doesn't seem to affect the way the program runs? Thanks

  • Is it possible to filter users from a launchd plist?

  • Angularjs togglecheck error(not working as intended) with prechecked data

    I have this plunker where i have a button that opens a bootstrap modal dialog box. I the modal, when a course is selected(checked) from this list, it adds 3 to the $scope.planned and also increases the progress bar accordingly. Similarly it also reduces in the same way when a checkbox is unchecked. The table in the modal has a list of the requirements service data. I also have a function named checkplanneddetails() that checks if an item from this data is present in the requirements data. If present, they come in the table pre-checked. But the togglecheck() function does not work as they are supposed to with these checked details(they work in reverse). It always returns true(for var x in togglecheck) even after the splice function. Am i splicing the course correctly?

  • My site was recently attacked. What do I do?

    This is a first for me. One of the sites I run was recently attacked. Not at all an intelligent attack - pure brute force - hit every page and every non-page with every extension possible. Posted with garbage data to every form and tried to post to some random urls too. All tod, 16000 requests in one hour. What should I do to prevent/alert this kind of behavior? Is there a way to limit the request/hr for a given ip/client? Is there a place I should be reporting the user to? They appear to be from China and did leave what seems like a valid e-mail.

    Hi experts, Currently we are studying the java based tool which is primararily Reporting tool.It was developed in 2000/2001 period and uses many open source libraries like Apache Avalon/Mx4J.Adaptor/edu.Oswego(java concurrent package) etc. Tool uses jdk 1.3.1 and goal is to upgrade to jdk 1.5.We have also been asked to remove these 'outdated' packages and replace by standard java packages if possible. Unfortunately we have the code available for study but lacks any documentation and really difficult to track the flow(Total number of classes written might be more than 1000) during debugging.   • Missing 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' time information in Firebug's Net Panel.

    Hello, Firebug is awesome in reporting the relative time when an HTTP request was made with respect to the 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' time. However, once the 'load' event occurs (seen by the red line on the timeline), the requests thereafter do not have any information about how later they occurred with respect to the two events. To confuse things, these requests (usually at the bottom of the timeline) appear to have started right at the beginning of the page load. Could somebody shed some light on what should i infer when i see such entries in the timeline which do not have information about the 'DomContentLoaded' and 'load' event times and appear to have occurred after the page load event, still net panel shows that they started at the beginning?   • How to maxmise the largest contiguous block of memory in the Large Object Heap

    The situation is that I am making a WCF call to a remote server which is returns an XML document as a string. Most of the time this return value is a few K, sometimes a few dozen K, very occasionally a few hundred K, but very rarely it could be several megabytes (first problem is that there is no way for me to know). It's these rare occasions that are causing grief. I get a stack trace that starts: System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. at System.Xml.BufferBuilder.AddBuffer() at System.Xml.BufferBuilder.AppendHelper(Char* pSource, Int32 count) at System.Xml.BufferBuilder.Append(Char[] value, Int32 start, Int32 count) at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseText() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.ParseElementContent() at System.Xml.XmlTextReaderImpl.Read() at System.Xml.XmlTextReader.Read() at System.Xml.XmlReader.ReadElementString() at Microsoft.Xml.Serialization.GeneratedAssembly.XmlSerializationReaderMDRQuery.Read2_getMarketDataResponse() at Microsoft.Xml.Serialization.GeneratedAssembly.ArrayOfObjectSerializer2.Deserialize(XmlSerializationReader reader) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.Deserialize(XmlReader xmlReader, String encodingStyle, XmlDeserializationEvents events) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.Deserialize(XmlReader xmlReader, String encodingStyle) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) I've read around and it is because the Large Object Heap is just getting too fragmented, so even preceding the call with a quick check to StringBuilder.EnsureCapacity just causes the OutOfMemoryException to be thrown earlier (and because I'm guessing at what's needed, it might not actually need that much so my check is causing more problems than it is solving). Some opinions are that there's not much I can do about it. Some of the questions I've asked myself: Use less memory - have you checked for leaks? Yes. The memory usage goes up and down, but there's no fundamental growth that guarantees this to happen. Some of the times it fails, it succeeded at that stage previously. Transfer smaller amounts Not an option, this is a third party web service over which I have no control (or at least it would take a long time to resolve, in the meantime I still have a problem) Can you do something to the LOH to make it less likely to fail? ... now this is most fruitful course. It's a 32-bit process (it has to be for various political, technical and boring reasons) but there's normally hundreds of meg free (multiples of the largest amount for which we've seen failures). Can we monitor the LOH? Using perfmon I can track the size of the heaps, but I don't think there's a way to monitor the largest available contiguous block of memory. Question is: any advice or suggestions for things to try?
