• Is there a way to be notified when the user makes changes in a wxStyledTextCtrl?

  I have a wxWidgets application that has a wxStyledTextCtrl. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get notified of modification events. I have the following code: void CMainWindow::OnDocumentModified(wxStyledTextEvent & event) { wxString msg; msg << event.GetModificationType(); wxMessageBox(msg); } This gets called for EVT_STC_MODIFIED. When I run the application and press a key, the message box displays 1040 and 8209. When I call SetText the same two messages are displayed. How can I differentiate between user events and programmatically-generated events?

  I am trying to give a LocationClient a two-minute period to connect before calling getLastLocation on it. Initially I implemented this with a Timer (and TimerTask), but because Timers do not work in sleepmode, I would like to translate it to an AlarmManager. However, I am a bit confused as to how to do this, considering an AlarmManager calls another class, whereas I want to remain in the same class and simply delay for a two-minute period. This is how it looks with a Timer. • Should we avoid to use Object as the input parameter/ output value of a method?

  Take Java syntax as an example, though the question itself is language independent. If the following snippet takes an object MyAbstractEmailTemplate as input argument in the method setTemplate, the class MyGateway will then become tightly-coupled with the object MyAbstractEmailTemplate, which lessens the re-usability of the class MyGateway. A compromise is to use dependency-injection to ease the instantiation of MyAbstractEmailTemplate. This might solve the coupling problem to some extent, but the interface is still rigid, hardly providing enough ?exibility to other developers/ applications. So if we only use primitive data type (or even plain XML in web service) as the input/ output of a method, it seems the coupling problem no longer exists.   Hello, I'm building a custom RSS reader app with incorporated feed link view (UIWebView). • How can I notify an application of a programmatically set scrollbar value?

  My code involves standard Scroll Bar control and it happens that I need to change its value programmatically in some cases. I do this using SetScrollInfo function, as in this example: void setScrollBarValue( HWND scrollBar, int value ) { SCROLLINFO si = { sizeof( SCROLLINFO ); } si.fMask = SIF_POS; si.nPos = value; ::SetScrollInfo( scrollBar, SB_CTL, &si, true /* redraw */ ); } This appears to work fine (the thumb of the scrollbar moves around) but it fails to notify the rest of the application of the new scrollbar value. For instance, an edit control which uses the scroll bar (much like in the Windows notepad application) fails to scroll around because it doesn't get notified about the new scrollbar value. In case it matters: the scrollbar I'm modifying is not in the same process as the above setScrollBarValue function. Does anybody know how to achieve this?

  According to this, there's no way to convert a HRESULT error code into a Win32 error code. • Passing an array argument from C# to a C++/CLI method

  I know only very little about C++/CLI, but I have a simple problem that needs a solution. I have a C++/CLI class method that takes a byte-array as a parameter. The array is of a pre-determined length, and can be allocated in C# beforehand. The array is supposed to be filled with data by the C++/CLI method. How do I declare the method and then call it from C#? I tried something like having the following in my C++/CLI class: public ref class C { public: void FillBytes(array<BYTE^>^ bytes); }; And then, in C#: o = new C(); var bytes = new byte[3]; o.FillBytes(bytes); But that didn't work at all :).

So, I just split nrNums into nrThreads equal chunks (well, the last one won't be equal; if nrThreads doesn't divide by nrNums, it will also contain the remainder, of course). I start nrThreads threads. They all test each number in their respective chunk and see if it is prime or not; they mark everything out in a bool array that keeps a tab on all the primes. The threads all turn a specific element in another boolean array ThreadsFinished to true when they finish. Now the weird part begins: The threads never all end. If I debug, I find that ThreadNr is not what I assign to it in the loop but another value. I guess this is normal since the threads execute afterwards and the counter (the variable i) is already increased by then but I cannot understand how to make the code be right. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance. P.S.: I know the algorithm is not very efficient; I am aiming at a solution using the sieve of Eratosthenes also with x given threads. But for now I can't even get this one to work and I haven't found any examples of any implementations of that algorithm anywhere in a language that I can understand.

  I have Hibernate 3.6.0.Final and Spring 3.0.0.RELEASE I get "No Hibernate Session bound to thread, and configuration does not allow creation of non-transactional one here" If I add the thread specification back in, I get "saveOrUpdate is not valid without active transaction" Any ideas? • How to close a form in UserControl

  I created a UserControl with the buttons Save, Close and Cancel. I want to close the form without saving on the Cancel button, prompt a message to save on the Close button and Save without closing on the Save button. Normally, I would have used this.Close() on the Cancel button, but the UserControl doesn't have such an option. So I guess I have to set a property for that. Scrolling down the "Questions that may already have your answer" section, I came across this question: How to close a ChildWindow from an UserControl button loaded inside it? I used the following C# code: private void btnCancel_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { ProjectInfo infoScreen = (ProjectInfo)this.Parent; infoScreen.Close(); } This does the job for one screen, but I wonder if I have to apply this code for all the screen I have? I think there should be a more efficient way. So my question is: Do I need to apply this code for every form I have, or is there another (more efficient) way?

• Saving Excel Spreadsheet using Interop C#

It does print the correct value that's in cell B3 to the console. When closing it asks if I want to replace the existing file. I click yes. When I open the spreadsheet in Excel, the value is still in cell B3 despite the cell.ClearContents(). Any thoughts?

• can the keyword 'this' be used in an abstract class in java

  I tried with below example, it is working fine. I expected it to pick sub-class's value since object won't be created for super class (as it is abstract). But it is picking up super class's field value only. • Vim: replacing start and end of a visual char, line or block

  I am trying to find a shortcut to place a custom comment sequence on my code, e.g.: /* start of comment blah end of comment /**/ (it is easier to void the comment by just adding a / to the beginning) I would like to do this in Vim by selecting a visual line, block or char and adding '/' characters at the beginning of the block and '/*/' at the end, plus newlines. After selecting some lines (Shift-V) I tried this: '<,'>s/\(.*\)/\/*\r\1\r\/**\// But it adds the comment chars at EACH newline. How can I only apply the substitution at the beginning and end of the selected range? Thanks gm
