• Please help me decide how to figure out XNA's ContentPipeline

  I have read this link : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb464156.aspx They said : "... the XNA Framework Redistributable file does not contain the Content Pipeline Build Runtime. Building content at run time is supported only when XNA Game Studio has been installed on the Windows-based development computer." Actually, before I know of that, I have already used a lot of content pipeline to help me read out my game's assets. And because of that, I am now very headache to confront the publish's problem "The application requires that the assemblies Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Content.Pipeline 3.1.0.0 be installed ....." So I would like to find some ways that can help me solve this without convertion of my pipelines. So that I don't need to rewrite it all in new classes that manually load assets for me. • Are tile overlays possible with the iPhone's MapKit

  I already have a tile source set up for use with the Google Maps JavaScript API. I am trying to translate this for use with the iPhone MapKit. I have correctly implemented the javascript zooming levels into mapkit. Whenever - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView regionDidChangeAnimated:(BOOL)animated is called, I snap the region to the nearest zoom level based on the same center point. Is it possible to implement a solution possibly with CATiledLayer to implement a tiling solution. Does the iPhone use the standard 256x256 tiles like google maps does natively? Any direction or help on this would be greatly appreciated. I would rather not waste a couple weeks trying to implement this if it's not possible.

  Google doesn't help, neither does a stackoverflow.com search, and browsing through Apache Sling documentation doesn't show any solution so here goes: How can I best use Maven2 with Apache Sling? Basically as far as I see the entire application code will need to be placed in the JCR repository, but I need it versioned. There is some documentation about OSGi bundles that could contain resources, but isn't it kind of overkill to create a bundle with a bunch of Java code to talk to Sling when all I want to do is load some files to corresponding URLs? What I was hoping for is something like jetty:run that will automatically deploy a WAR into a new Jetty instance. Ideally the goal for Sling would run Sling and then load the specified content -- is there some Maven2 plugin for this right now? Or is the bundle-based solution the "canonical" way of doing this?

• Detect Installed Application URI Handler on Webkit browsers

  Guys, I have a question mainly related to the Iphone web browser but I am hoping the same solution would work on other browsers that are webkit based. I have a application (Iphone + Android) that registers a handler for custom URI (appuri://) on the Phone. I am able to launch the application by making a link to "appuri://act/launch" from my web pages. This works only if my application is installed on the device. If the device does not have the app installed then a message comes up "Safari was not able to open ....". What I want to do is detect if the URI Scheme is supported from the browser and then prompt my own message saying "please download the app ..blah blah blah" if the handler for the URI scheme is not found. Is there a way I can detect or find the list of URL Scheme handlers on the Phone from the Web Browser ?

When registered users add a new company,it is saved to database and also gets indexed in Lucene based company search index in real time. When adding company in Lucene index, how do I handle use case of two or more logged-in users posting a new company at the same time?Also, will both these companies get indexed without any file lock, lock time out, etc. related issues? Would appreciate if i could help with code as well. Thanks.

• Django app that can provide user friendly, multiple / mass file upload functionality to other apps

  Hi, I'm going to be honest: this is a question I asked on the Django-Users mailinglist last week. Since I didn't get any replies there yet, I'm reposting it on Stack Overflow in the hope that it gets more attention here. I want to create an app that makes it easy to do user friendly, multiple / mass file upload in your own apps. With user friendly I mean upload like Gmail, Flickr, ... where the user can select multiple files at once in the browse file dialog. The files are then uploaded sequentially or in parallel and a nice overview of the selected files is shown on the page with a progress bar next to them. A 'Cancel' upload button is also a possible option. All that niceness is usually solved by using a Flash object. Complete solutions are out there for the client side, like: SWFUpload http://swfupload.org/ , FancyUpload http://digitarald.de/project/fancyupload/ , YUI 2 Uploader http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/uploader/ and probably many more. Ofcourse the trick is getting those solutions integrated in your project. Especially in a framework like Django, double so if you want it to be reusable. So, I have a few ideas, but I'm neither an expert on Django nor on Flash based upload solutions. I'll share my ideas here in the hope of getting some feedback from more knowledgeable and experienced people. (Or even just some 'I want this too!' replies :) ) You will notice that I make a few assumptions: this is to keep the (initial) scope of the application under control. These assumptions are of course debatable: All right, my idea's so far: If you want to mass upload multiple files, you are going to have a model to contain each file in. I.e. the model will contain one FileField or one ImageField. Models with multiple (but ofcourse finite) amount of FileFields/ ImageFields are not in need of easy mass uploading imho: if you have a model with 100 FileFields you are doing something wrong :) Examples where you would want my envisioned kind of mass upload: An app that has just one model 'Brochure' with a file field, a title field (dynamically created from the filename) and a date_added field. A photo gallery app with models 'Gallery' and 'Photo'. You pick a Gallery to add pictures to, upload the pictures and new Photo objects are created and foreign keys set to the chosen Gallery. It would be nice to be able to configure or extend the app for your favorite Flash upload solution. We can pick one of the three above as a default, but implement the app so that people can easily add additional implementations (kinda like Django can use multiple databases). Let it be agnostic to any particular client side solution. If we need to pick one to start with, maybe pick the one with the smallest footprint? (smallest download of client side stuff) The Flash based solutions asynchronously (and either sequentially or in parallel) POST the files to a url. I suggest that url to be local to our generic app (so it's the same for every app where you use our app in). That url will go to a view provided by our generic app. The view will do the following: create a new model instance, add the file, OPTIONALLY DO EXTRA STUFF and save the instance. DO EXTRA STUFF is code that the app that uses our app wants to run. It doesn't have to provide any extra code, if the model has just a FileField/ImageField the standard view code will do the job. But most app will want to do extra stuff I think, like filling in the other fields: title, date_added, foreignkeys, manytomany, ... I have not yet thought about a mechanism for DO EXTRA STUFF. Just wrapping the generic app view came to mind, but that is not developer friendly, since you would have to write your own url pattern and your own view. Then you have to tell the Flash solutions to use a new url etc... I think something like signals could be used here? Forms/Admin: I'm still very sketchy on how all this could best be integrated in the Admin or generic Django forms/widgets/... (and this is were my lack of Django experience shows): In the case of the Gallery/Photo app: You could provide a mass Photo upload widget on the Gallery detail form. But what if the Gallery instance is not saved yet? The file upload view won't be able to set the foreignkeys on the Photo instances. I see that the auth app, when you create a user, first asks for username and password and only then provides you with a bigger form to fill in emailadres, pick roles etc. We could do something like that. In the case of an app with just one model: How do you provide a form in the Django admin to do your mass upload? You can't do it with the detail form of your model, that's just for one model instance. There's probably dozens more questions that need to be answered before I can even start on this app. So please tell me what you think! Give me input! What do you like? What not? What would you do different? Is this idea solid? Where is it not? Thank you!

  I want to run my own root server (directly accessible from the web without a hardware firewall) with debian lenny, apache2, php5, mysql, postfix MTA, sftp (based on ssh) and maybe dns server. What measures/software would you recomend, and why, to secure this server down and minimalize the attack vector? Webapplications aside ... This is what I have so far: iptables (for gen. packet filtering) fail2ban (brute force attack defense) ssh (chang default, port disable root access) modsecurity - is really clumsy and a pain (any alternative here?) ?Sudo why should I use it? what is the advantage to normal user handling thinking about greensql for mysql www.greensql.net is tripwire worth looking at? snort?   Hi, Let's say I have a list, with an arbitrary number of indentation levels, like so: Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item If I'm displaying this list in an HTML document, how can I use CSS to handle the indentation? There might be an arbitrary number of indentation levels (although in practice there isn't going to be more than 5 or so). I don't want to create an "indent1" class that indents 10 pixels, an "indent2" class that indents 20 pixels, etc - that's clumsy. Is it possible to create a general rule that will indent by a certain distance based on an attribute value, or the position of an element in the hierarchy?

  so googling around it appears that the general consensus is that embedding version numbers in REST URIs is a bad practice and a bad idea. even on SO there are strong proponents supporting this. e.g. Best practices for API versioning? My question is about how to accomplish the proposed solution of using the accept header / content negotiation in the django-rest-framework to accomplish this. It looks like content negotiation in the framework, http://django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/content-negotiation.html is already configured to automatically return intended values based on accepted MIME types. If I start using the Accept header for custom types, I'll lose this benefit of the framework. Is there a better way to accomplish this in the framework?

  Hello. Qt framework has internal support for testing via QtTest package. Unfortunately, i didn't find any facilities in it that can assist in creating mock objects. Qt signals and slots offers a natural way to create a unit-testing friendly units with input (slots) and output (signals). But is it any easy way to test that calling specified slot in object will result in emitting correct signals with correct arguments? Of course i can manually create a mock objects and connect them to objects being tested, but it's a lot of code. Maybe it's some techniques exists that allows to somehow automate mock objects creation while unit-testing Qt-based applications?

No I am looking for a more light weight solution, for documents were setting up a moinmoin server is to much hassle. What is the "easiest" way to render a .txt file in Wiki syntax. (for example by displaying it, or converting it to HTML). it should work on Linux, but the more platform in-dependent, the better. Maybe there is even a Javascript based solution?

• Ending a Rails 2 URL with an IP address causes routing error?

  I'm trying to construct URLs in the format http://servername/find/by/CRITERION/VALUE CRITERION is a finite set of strings, as is VALUE. Trouble is, VALUE needs to be an IP address in some situations, and it's causing me a routing error. Here's my route: map.find 'find/by/:criterion/:query', :controller => "find", :action => "by" And the error, from the Mongrel logs: Processing ApplicationController#index (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-05-07 10:20:32) [GET] ActionController::RoutingError (No route matches "/find/by/ip/1.2.3.4" with {:method=>:get}): Rendering rescues/layout (not_found) If I visit /find/by/foo/bar or /find/by/foo/1234 I don't have problems. I suspect the problem might be Rails' inference of MIME types based on periods in the URL, but I don't really know how I can disable that. I've tried passing a :defaults = {:format = :html} to the route but that causes Mongrel to fail to start entirely. Any help appreciated!

  I am developing a .NET 3.5 Web Forms based website that uses URL Routing. So far I have created a few routes and I have had no issue. I now have a .ashx file that is going to handle sending .pdf files from a table in SQL Server to the website when someone clicks on a link. Normally when I create a Handler it would look like this: return BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath("~/ViewItem.aspx", typeof(Page)) as Page; For my .ashx file I tried: return BuildManager.CreateInstanceFromVirtualPath("~/FileServer.ashx", typeof(Page)) as Page; This doesn't work though because fileserver.ashx is not a page so casting it as typeof(Page)) as Page is going to fail. What do I cast the VirtualPath as instead of Page or is there some other way I should be doing this.

  I have an old NPAPI plugin for OS X that I'm trying to refit for use with Snow Leopard's version of Safari. My problem is that when I switch Safari to 64-bit mode, it changes the plugin environment to out of process mode (where plugins are hosted by a 32-bit WebKitPluginHost process). And now my toolbar palettes are not visible on screen, even though the NSPanels on which they are based think they are visible. The documentation says that bringing up windows is not recommended, but doesn't say its prohibited; is there something I can do to bring up my Windows?

  I am new to SSRS (2005) and am creating my first report. I need to create a group-based running value but is sorted or some other field. For example, from the data below |Employee| Day |Hours|Salary| |E1 | 1.1 | 5 | 5 | |E2 | 1.2 | 6 | 6 | |E3 | 1.3 | 7 | 7 | |E2 | 2.1 | 6 | 12 | |E1 | 2.2 | 5 | 10 | |E3 | 2.3 | 7 | 14 | |E3 | 3.1 | 7 | 21 | |E2 | 3.2 | 6 | 18 | I am calculating the salary to be a running value on hours grouped by employee, which works fine. The problem is I want the report to be sorted on the Day column. If I use the Day as a sorting criteria in the employee group, the report is grouped on the employee, but within the group, the data is sorted on the Day column. Is there a way to build the report and then finally sort the report on the day column ? Please let me know in case I am unclear. Thanks a lot! Siva.

  I am writing an application which uses the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel assembly to export/import data from Excel spreadsheets. Everything was going fine (except for 1 based indexing and all those optional parameters!), until I tried to use conditional formatting. When I call Range.FormatConditions.Add I get a MissingMethodException telling me that no such method exists. This happens in both Vista and XP.   Hello I am using Ejb3 and JPA (based on Hibernate and Oracle 10g at the moment) I have an entity that contains a clob @Entity @Table(name = "My_TAB") public class ExampleEntity implements java.io.Serializable { private Clob someText; public void setSomeText(Clob someText) { this.someText= someText; } @Column(name = "COLUMN_NAME") public Clob getSomeText() { return this.someText; } Then I want to save an entity of this type. At the moment I am doing the following which works perfectly ExampleEntity exampleEntity = new ExampleEntity(); exampleEntity.setSomeText(Hibernate.createClob(aStringValue)); someOtherDao.save(exampleEntity); However this ties my code to Hibernate! I have specifically avoided so far Hibernate extensions and used only JPA annotations. The code works because indeed Hibernate is my current implementation. Is there some sort of JPA API that allows me to create a clob in a generic way? So if later I decide to switch to Toplink/EclipseLink or something else I won't have to change a thing?
