  • Using "class/object" MooTools-style events in jQuery

    - by Infinity
One of the nice things about MooTools, is that it lets you easily assign/fire events to objects, for example: var playerSingleton = new (new Class({ Implements: [Events], initialize: function() {}, setVolume: function() { // do some stuff.. this.fireEvent('volumeChanged') } })); // Somewhere else... playerSingleton.addEvent('volumeChanged', function() { // do something when volume changes }); playerSingleton.setVolume(75); // bam our event fires. How would something like this be done with jQuery? I know there's .bind and .trigger, but it seems like the only way to do this is to bind/fire events to the window object: $(window).bind('volumeChanged', fn); Is there anything better than this, more like the MooTools approach? Thanks!

  • Audio -- How much performance improvement can I expect from from reducing function calls by using bu

    - by morgancodes
I'm working on an audio-intensive app for the iPhone. I'm currently calling a number of different functions for each sample I need to calculate. For example, I have an envelope class. When I calculate a sample, I do something like: sampleValue = oscilator->tic() * envelope->tic(); But I could also do something like: for(int i = 0; i < bufferLength; i++){ buffer[i] = oscilatorBuffer[i] * evelopeBuffer[i]; } I know the second will be more efficient, but don't know by how much. Are function calls expensive enough that I'd be crazy not to use buffers if I care event a tiny bit about performance?

  • Master Data Management Implementation Styles

    - by david.butler(at)oracle.com
In any Master Data Management solution deployment, one of the key decisions to be made is the choice of the MDM architecture. Gartner and other analysts describe some different Hub deployment styles, which must be supported by a best of breed MDM solution in order to guarantee the success of the deployment project.   Registry Style: In a Registry Style MDM Hub, the various source systems publish their data and a subscribing Hub stores only the source system IDs, the Foreign Keys (record IDs on source systems) and the key data values needed for matching. The Hub runs the cleansing and matching algorithms and assigns unique global identifiers to the matched records, but does not send any data back to the source systems. The Registry Style MDM Hub uses data federation capabilities to build the "virtual" golden view of the master entity from the connected systems.   Consolidation Style: The Consolidation Style MDM Hub has a physically instantiated, "golden" record stored in the central Hub. The authoring of the data remains distributed across the spoke systems and the master data can be updated based on events, but is not guaranteed to be up to date. The master data in this case is usually not used for transactions, but rather supports reporting; however, it can also be used for reference operationally.   Coexistence Style: The Coexistence Style MDM Hub involves master data that's authored and stored in numerous spoke systems, but includes a physically instantiated golden record in the central Hub and harmonized master data across the application portfolio. The golden record is constructed in the same manner as in the consolidation style, and, in the operational world, Consolidation Style MDM Hubs often evolve into the Coexistence Style. The key difference is that in this architectural style the master data stored in the central MDM system is selectively published out to the subscribing spoke systems.   Transaction Style: In this architecture, the Hub stores, enhances and maintains all the relevant (master) data attributes. It becomes the authoritative source of truth and publishes this valuable information back to the respective source systems. The Hub publishes and writes back the various data elements to the source systems after the linking, cleansing, matching and enriching algorithms have done their work. Upstream, transactional applications can read master data from the MDM Hub, and, potentially, all spoke systems subscribe to updates published from the central system in a form of harmonization. The Hub needs to support merging of master records. Security and visibility policies at the data attribute level need to be supported by the Transaction Style hub, as well.   Adaptive Transaction Style: This is similar to the Transaction Style, but additionally provides the capability to respond to diverse information and process requests across the enterprise. This style emerged most recently to address the limitations of the above approaches. With the Adaptive Transaction Style, the Hub is built as a platform for consolidating data from disparate third party and internal sources and for serving unified master entity views to operational applications, analytical systems or both. This approach delivers a real-time Hub that has a reliable, persistent foundation of master reference and relationship data, along with all the history and lineage of data changes needed for audit and compliance tracking. On top of this persistent master data foundation, the Hub can dynamically aggregate transaction data on demand from different source systems to deliver the unified golden view to downstream systems. Data can also be accessed through batch interfaces, published to a message bus or served through a real-time services layer. New data sources can be readily added in this approach by extending the data model and by configuring the new source mappings and the survivorship rules, meaning that all legacy data hubs can be leveraged to contribute their records/rules into the new transaction hub. Finally, through rich user interfaces for data stewardship, it allows exception handling by business analysts to keep it current with business rules/practices while maintaining the reliability of best-of-breed master records.   Confederation Style: In this architectural style, several Hubs are maintained at departmental and/or agency and/or territorial level, and each of them are connected to the other Hubs either directly or via a central Super-Hub. Each Domain level Hub can be implemented using any of the previously described styles, but normally the Central Super-Hub is a Registry Style one. This is particularly important for Public Sector organizations, where most of the time it is practically or legally impossible to store in a single central hub all the relevant constituent information from all departments.   Oracle MDM Solutions can be deployed according to any of the above MDM architectural styles, and have been specifically designed to fully support the Transaction and Adaptive Transaction styles. Oracle MDM Solutions provide strong data federation and integration capabilities which are key to enabling the use of the Confederated Hub as a possible architectural style approach. Don't lock yourself into a solution that cannot evolve with your needs. With Oracle's support for any type of deployment architecture, its ability to leverage the outstanding capabilities of the Oracle technology stack, and its open interfaces for non-Oracle technology stacks, Oracle MDM Solutions provide a low TCO and a quick ROI by enabling a phased implementation strategy.

  • Is there anyway I can fix a webview?

    - by Legend
I am trying to load a webpage into a sample webview that I created: public class HelloWebview extends Activity { /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); WebView webview; webview = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); webview.getSettings().setDefaultZoom(ZoomDensity.FAR); webview.setHorizontalScrollBarEnabled(false); webview.setVerticalScrollBarEnabled(false); webview.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); webview.loadUrl("http://10.0.2.2/index.html"); } } Initially, I had a problem with the scrollbars so I added the two lines to disable them. Now, I am still able to pan around the webpage though the scroll bars are not visible. How can I fix the view so that I am not able to pan (or scroll) the webpage? By panning, I mean moving around the webpage with an onTouch event.

  • what is the global.asax Application_Start equivalent when using WAS in IIS7

    - by Mike Tours
Hi I'd like to use the netTcpBinding for my WCF application which is currently hosted in IIS7, which means configuring it to use WAS instead. This is fairly straight forward however, my application previously made use of the Application_Start event in the global.asax file. I do not require access to the httpContext(which I understand access has been removed in IIS7), however I would still like to hook into the start or init methods? Does an equivalent exist when hosting an application in WAS as apposed to IIS7? Using classic mode is not an option(again I'm not interested in the httpcontext and this only appears to work if using an http binding) - and I've seen an example of putting a static class instide the app_code folder which looks like a horrible hack.

  • Android Custom View to Activity communication

    - by Blumer
I have a custom control/view that observes the direction of a gesture within its bounds. I would like to send a different message back to the Activity hosting the View depending on the direction of the gesture. I'm having a hard time determine what the right way to do this is. I would think I could raise a custom event in the control and then stick a listener on the control in the activity, but I cannot find any information on custom events in Android. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Resolving HttpRequestScoped Instances outside of a HttpRequest in Autofac

    - by Page Brooks
Suppose I have a dependency that is registered as HttpRequestScoped so there is only one instance per request. How could I resolve a dependency of the same type outside of an HttpRequest? For example: // Global.asax.cs Registration builder.Register(c => new MyDataContext(connString)).As<IDatabase>().HttpRequestScoped(); _containerProvider = new ContainerProvider(builder.Build()); // This event handler gets fired outside of a request // when a cached item is removed from the cache. public void CacheItemRemoved(string k, object v, CacheItemRemovedReason r) { // I'm trying to resolve like so, but this doesn't work... var dataContext = _containerProvider.ApplicationContainer.Resolve<IDatabase>(); // Do stuff with data context. } The above code throws a DependencyResolutionException when it executes the CacheItemRemoved handler: No scope matching the expression 'value(Autofac.Builder.RegistrationBuilder`3+<c__DisplayClass0[MyApp.Core.Data.MyDataContext,Autofac.Builder.SimpleActivatorData,Autofac.Builder.SingleRegistrationStyle]).lifetimeScopeTag.Equals(scope.Tag)' is visible from the scope in which the instance was requested.

  • How do I make a PHP call whenever a form element is clicked?

    - by thinkswan
I have a jQuery colorbox opened over top of my webpage (with a <select> drop down list) and I'd like to make an AJAX call every time a new <option> is selected from the drop down. I have the following code, but it's not picking up the select event. $('#cboxLoadedContent select[name=parent]').live('select', function() { $.get("edit.php", { fn: 'getFormatLevel', parent: $('select[name=parent]').val() }, function(data) { alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); }); Any ideas why this isn't even recognizing my selector?

  • Firefox and TinyMCE 3.4.9 won't play nice together

    - by Patricia
I've submitted a bug to the tinyMCE people, but i'm hoping someone else has come across this and has a suitable workaround. Here's the situation: I've got a form with a tinyMCE control that i load into a jquery dialog. it works great the first time, then after they close it, and open a new one. any interaction with the tinyMCE control gives: "Node cannot be used in a document other than the one in which it was created" it also doesn't fill the control with the text it's supposed to be prepopulated with. In my jquery dialogs i have the following scripts in my beforeClose handler: if (typeof tinyMCE != 'undefined') { $(this).find(':tinymce').each(function () { var theMce = $(this); tinyMCE.execCommand('mceFocus', false, theMce.attr('id')); tinyMCE.execCommand('mceRemoveControl', false, theMce.attr('id')); $(this).remove(); }); } and here's my tinyMCE setup script: $('#' + controlId).tinymce({ script_url: v2ScriptPaths.TinyMCEPath, mode: "none", elements: controlId, theme: "advanced", plugins: "paste", paste_retain_style_properties: "*", theme_advanced_toolbar_location: "top", theme_advanced_buttons1: "bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, separator, justifyleft, justifycenter, justifyright, justifyfull, indent, outdent, separator, undo, redo, separator, numlist, bullist, hr, link, unlink, removeformat", theme_advanced_buttons2: "fontsizeselect, forecolor, backcolor, charmap, pastetext, pasteword, selectall, sub, sup", theme_advanced_buttons3: "", language: v2LocalizedSettings.languageCode, gecko_spellcheck : true, onchange_callback: function (editor) { tinyMCE.triggerSave(); }, setup: function (editor) { editor.onInit.add(function (editor, event) { if (typeof v2SetInitialContent == 'function') { v2SetInitialContent(); } }) } }); is there anything obvious here? i've got all that complicated removal stuff in the close b/c tinymce doesn't like having it's html removed without it being removed. the setInitialContent() stuff is just so i can pre-load it with their email signature if they have one. it's broken with or without that code so that's not the problem. i was forced to update to 3.4.9 because of this issue: http://www.tinymce.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=28400 so if someone can solve that, it would help this situation to. I have tried the suggestion from aknosis with no luck. EDIT: I originally thought this only affected firefox 11, but i have downloaded 10, and it is also affected. EDIT: Ok, i've trimmed down all my convoluted dynamic forms and links that cause this into a fairly simple example. the code for the base page: <a href="<%=Url.Action(MVC.Temp.GetRTEDialogContent)%>" id="TestSendEmailDialog">Get Dialog</a> <div id="TestDialog"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> $('#TestSendEmailDialog').click(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); var theDialog = buildADialog('Test', 500, 800, 'TestDialog'); theDialog.dialog('open'); theDialog.empty().load($(this).attr('href'), function () { }); }); function buildADialog(title, height, width, dialogId, maxHeight) { var customDialog = $('#' + dialogId); customDialog.dialog('destory'); customDialog.dialog({ title: title, autoOpen: false, height: height, modal: true, width: width, close: function (ev, ui) { $(this).dialog("destroy"); $(this).empty(); }, beforeClose: function (event, ui) { if (typeof tinyMCE != 'undefined') { $(this).find(':tinymce').each(function () { var theMce = $(this); tinyMCE.execCommand('mceFocus', false, theMce.attr('id')); tinyMCE.execCommand('mceRemoveControl', false, theMce.attr('id')); $(this).remove(); }); } } }); return customDialog; } </script> and the code for the page that is loaded into the dialog: <form id="SendAnEmailForm" name="SendAnEmailForm" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post"> <textarea cols="50" id="MessageBody" name="MessageBody" rows="10" style="width: 710px; height:200px;"></textarea> </form> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $('#MessageBody').tinymce({ script_url: v2ScriptPaths.TinyMCEPath, mode: "exact", elements: 'MessageBody', theme: "advanced", plugins: "paste, preview", paste_retain_style_properties: "*", theme_advanced_toolbar_location: "top", theme_advanced_buttons1: "bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, separator, justifyleft, justifycenter, justifyright, justifyfull, indent, outdent, separator, undo, redo, separator, numlist, bullist, hr, link, unlink, removeformat", theme_advanced_buttons2: "fontsizeselect, forecolor, backcolor, charmap, pastetext, pasteword, selectall, sub, sup, preview", theme_advanced_buttons3: "", language: 'EN', gecko_spellcheck: true, onchange_callback: function (editor) { tinyMCE.triggerSave(); } }); }); </script> a very interesting thing i noticed, if i move the tinyMCE setup into the load callback, it seems to work. this isn't really a solution though, because when i'm loading dialogs, i don't know in the code ahead of time if it has tinyMCE controls or not!

  • Embedded media player gets inconsistent currentPosition on both IE8 and Firefox3

    - by logoin
I have a embedded media player in the browser that is controlled by javascript to handle all the mediaChange event. The code looks like mediaChangeHandler: function(media) { if (media && this.offset && !this.offsetJumpPerformed) { if (parseFloat(media.duration) > this.offset) { pos = parseInt(pos); this.getPlayer().controls.currentPosition = pos; alert("jump to position: " + this.getPlayer().controls.currentPosition); this.play(); this.offsetJumpPerformed = true; alert("currentPosition:" + this.getPlayer().controls.currentPosition); } } } The first alert indicates the currentPosition is where I want it to be. However, the second alert would get currentPosition that's couple seconds less than what I have set up. Does anyone have idea why? I tried googled it but haven't found anything useful. Thanks!

  • jQuery events .load(), .ready(), .unload()

    - by Eric
Hi folks, Just a simple question, for the jquery event. Are the .load(), .ready() and .unload() run in order when the DOM is loaded? The answer seems yes when I see the jQuery Documentation. <script type="text/javascript"> $(window).load(function () { // run code initializeCode(); }); $(document).ready(function() { //run code that MUST be after initialize }); $(window).unload(function() { Cleanup(); }); </script> However, the code inside the .ready() is execute before the initializeCode(); is execute, so I feel really strange. And now I have to place my code inside the .onload() method and just after the initializeCode(); line, which means to be inside the .ready() block. Could someone explain me more about this, as I am new to jQuery. Thank you so much.

  • Javascript callback for multiple ajax calls

    - by Jisaak
    My lack of javascript knowledge is getting me in trouble again. I think this should be a fairly easy problem to fix but I cant figure it out. Situation: I want to make three ajax calls in a click event. Each ajax call does a distinct operation and returns back data that is needed for a final callback. The calls themselves are not dependent on one another, they can all go at the same time, however I would like to have a final callback when all three are complete. $('#button').click(function() { fun1(); fun2(); fun3(); //now do something else when the requests have done their 'sucess' callbacks. }); var fun1= (function() { $.ajax({/*code*/}); }); var fun2 = (function() { $.ajax({/*code*/}); }); var fun3 = (function() { $.ajax({/*code*/}); });

  • How to implement JQuery easing into this window scroll movement function?

    - by Mohammad
    With this code I've been able to capture the mousewheel movement and apply it to the horizontal scroll bars instead of the vertical default. $('html').bind('mousewheel', function(event, delta) { window.parent.scrollBy(-120 * delta, 0); return false; }); Is there any way that I could add this jQuery easing animation to the scroll movement? jQuery.extend( jQuery.easing, { easeInOutBack: function (x, t, b, c, d, s) { if (s == undefined) s = 1.70158; if ((t/=d/2) < 1) return c/2*(t*t*(((s*=(1.525))+1)*t - s)) + b; return c/2*((t-=2)*t*(((s*=(1.525))+1)*t + s) + 2) + b; } }); Thank you so much in advance!

  • WebCenter Content shared folders for clustering

    - by Kyle Hatlestad
When configuring a WebCenter Content (WCC) cluster, one of the things which makes it unique from some other WebLogic Server applications is its requirement for a shared file system.  This is actually not any different then 10g and previous versions of UCM when it ran directly on a JVM.  And while it is simple enough to say it needs a shared file system, there are some crucial details in how those directories are configured. And if they aren't followed, you may result in some unwanted behavior. This blog post will go into the details on how exactly the file systems should be split and what options are required. Beyond documents being stored on the file system and/or database and metadata being stored in the database along with other structured data, there is other information being read and written to on the file system.  Information such as user profile preferences, workflow item state information, metadata profiles, and other details are stored in files.  In addition, for certain processes within WCC, each of the nodes needs to know what the other nodes are doing so they don’t step on each other.  WCC keeps track of this through the use of lock files on the file system.  Because of this, each node of the WCC must have access to the same file system just as they have access to the same database. WCC uses its own locking mechanism using files, so it also needs to have access to those files without file attribute caching and without locking being done by the client (node).  If one of the nodes accesses a certain status file and it happens to be cached, that node might attempt to run a process which another node is already working on.  Or if a particular file is locked by one of the node clients, this could interfere with access by another node.  Unfortunately, when disabling file attribute caching on the file share, this can impact performance.  So it is important to only disable caching and locking on the particular folders which require it.  When configuring WebCenter Content after deploying the domain, it asks for 3 different directories: Content Server Instance Folder, Native File Repository Location, and Weblayout Folder.  And starting in PS5, it now asks for the User Profile Folder. Even if you plan on storing the content in the database, you still need to establish a Native File (Vault) and Weblayout directories.  These will be used for handling temporary files, cached files, and files used to deliver the UI. For these directories, the only folder which needs to have the file attribute caching and locking disabled is the ‘Content Server Instance Folder’.  So when establishing this share through NFS or a clustered file system, be sure to specify those options. For instance, if creating the share through NFS, use the ‘noac’ and ‘nolock’ options for the mount options. For the other directories, caching and locking should be enabled to provide best performance to those locations.   These directory path configurations are contained within the <domain dir>\ucm\cs\bin\intradoc.cfg file: #Server System PropertiesIDC_Id=UCM_server1 #Server Directory Variables IdcHomeDir=/u01/fmw/Oracle_ECM1/ucm/idc/ FmwDomainConfigDir=/u01/fmw/user_projects/domains/base_domain/config/fmwconfig/ AppServerJavaHome=/u01/jdk/jdk1.6.0_22/jre/ AppServerJavaUse64Bit=true IntradocDir=/mnt/share_no_cache/base_domain/ucm/cs/ VaultDir=/mnt/share_with_cache/ucm/cs/vault/ WeblayoutDir=/mnt/share_with_cache/ucm/cs/weblayout/ #Server Classpath variables #Additional Variables #NOTE: UserProfilesDir is only available in PS5 – 11.1.1.6.0UserProfilesDir=/mnt/share_with_cache/ucm/cs/data/users/profiles/ In addition to these folder configurations, it’s also recommended to move node-specific folders to local disk to avoid unnecessary traffic to the shared directory.  So on each node, go to <domain dir>\ucm\cs\bin\intradoc.cfg and add these additional configuration entries: VaultTempDir=<domain dir>/ucm/<cs>/vault/~temp/ TraceDirectory=<domain dir>/servers/<UCM_serverN>/logs/EventDirectory=<domain dir>/servers/<UCM_serverN>/logs/event/ And of course, don’t forget the cluster-specific configuration values to add as well.  These can be added through Admin Server -> General Configuration -> Additional Configuration Variables or directly in the <IntradocDir>/config/config.cfg file: ArchiverDoLocks=true DisableSharedCacheChecking=true ServiceAllowRetry=true    (use only with Oracle RAC Database)PublishLockTimeout=300000  (time can vary depending on publishing time and number of nodes) For additional information and details on clustering configuration, I highly recommend reviewing document [1209496.1] on the support site.  In addition, there is a great step-by-step guide on setting up a WebCenter Content cluster [1359930.1].

  • Mouse interaction in ListBoxItem children (WPF)

    - by absence
I have a ListBox with an ItemTemplate that contains a control that interacts with the mouse. This interfers with the selection functionality of the ListBox, i.e. clicking a control does not select the item. This is because ListBoxItem sets the Handled property of the mouse event to true in OnMouseLeftButtonDown. I tried the following protected override void OnMouseLeftButtonDown(MouseButtonEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseLeftButtonDown(e); e.Handled = false; } but the ListBoxItem “takes over” the mouse and prevents the control from doing its own interaction. Then I had another idea protected override void OnMouseLeftButtonDown(MouseButtonEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseLeftButtonDown(e); ((ListBoxItem)VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(VisualTreeHelper.GetParent(this)))).IsSelected = true; } which actually works, but feels more like an ugly kludge than an elegant solution. Are there any better solutions that don't rely on the exact contents of the visual tree?

  • How to log with Ruby and eventmachine?

    - by Justin
I'm writing an application using Ruby and the Eventmachine library. I really like the idea of non blocking I/O and event driven systems, the problem I'm running into is logging. I'm using Ruby's standard logger library. Its not that logging takes forever but it seems like something that shouldn't block and it does. Is there a library out there somewhere that extends Ruby's standard logger implementation to be non-blocking or should I just call EM::defer for my logging calls? Is there a way I can make eventmachine do this for me already?

  • How do I use FB.Connect.streamPublish in an iframe facebook app?

    - by Gary
I'm making a simple iframe-based facebook app. I have the following code to size my iframe: FB_RequireFeatures(["Connect"], function(){ FB.XdComm.Server.init('/xd_receiver.htm'); FB.CanvasClient.startTimerToSizeToContent(); FB.CanvasClient.syncUrl(); }); I want to add a link that will display a popup which will allow the user to post an app-defined image/link to the user's wall. To get things working initially, I tried just using the following code on a click event: FB.Connect.streamPublish(''); However, nothing happens. I've tried adding: FB.init(<?=API_KEY?>, '/xd_receiver.htm'); both inside the FB_RequireFeatures function, before it, after it... no luck. Nothing happens. No errors are thrown. Nothing. Any ideas?

  • BackgroundWorker not working with TeamCity NUnit runner

    - by Catalin DICU
I'm using NUnit to test View Models in a WPF 3.5 application and I'm using the BackgroundWorker class to execute asynchronous commands. The unit test are running fine with the NUnit runner or ReSharper runner but fail on TeamCity 5.1 server. How is it implemented : I'm using a ViewModel property named IsBusy and set it to false on BackgroundWorker.RunWorkerCompleted event. In my test I'm using this method to wait for the BackgroundWorker to finish : protected void WaitForBackgroundOperation(ViewModel viewModel) { int count = 0; while (viewModel.IsBusy) { RunBackgroundWorker(); if (count++ >= 100) { throw new Exception("Background operation too long"); } Thread.Sleep(100); } } private static void RunBackgroundWorker() { Dispatcher.CurrentDispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Background, new ThreadStart(delegate { })); System.Windows.Forms.Application.DoEvents(); } Well, sometimes it works and sometimes it hangs the build. I suppose it's the Application.DoEvents() but I don't know why...

  • NSStream sockets missing data

    - by Chris T.
I am trying to pull some sample data from FreeDB as a proof of concept, but I am having a tough time retrieving all of the data off the incoming stream (I am only getting the last bits for the final query listed here (if handshakeCode = 3) I think this may be something with the threading on the main runloop, but I am not sure. Odd thing is when the buffer size is larger than 1-2 bytes (which works as expected), I seem to be losing access to the data programmatically (the totalOutput variable on the first set of data is incomplete). I set up a packet capture, and it looks like those 1024 bytes are coming across the wire, but the app just isn't working with it. It looks like the next event is coming through and basically taking over. I tried using an NSLock to no avail as well. If I drop the buffer size down to 1 or 2, things seem to be reading just fine. This is probably obvious to someone who does this all the time, but this is my first foray into this with something I am familiar with, technology wise in other languages / platforms. The following code will show you what is happening. Run with the buffer set to 1024, and you will see a short final string, but once you set it to 1, you will see the amount of data I was expecting (I was even expecting it to be split, so that's not a big worry) #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> //STACK OVERFLOW CODE: @interface stackoverflow : NSObject <NSStreamDelegate> { NSInputStream *iStream; NSOutputStream *oStream; int handshakeCode; NSString *selectedDiscId; NSString *selectedGenre; } -(void)getMatchesFromFreeDB; -(void)sendToOutputStream:(NSString*)command; @end @implementation stackoverflow -(void)getMatchesFromFreeDB { NSHost *host = [NSHost hostWithName:@"freedb.freedb.org"]; [NSStream getStreamsToHost:host port:8880 inputStream:&iStream outputStream:&oStream]; [iStream retain]; [oStream retain]; [iStream setDelegate:self]; [oStream setDelegate:self]; [iStream scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [oStream scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [iStream open]; [oStream open]; handshakeCode = 0; //not done any processing } -(void)stream:(NSStream *)aStream handleEvent:(NSStreamEvent)eventCode { switch(eventCode) { case NSStreamEventOpenCompleted: { NSLog(@"Stream open completed"); break; } case NSStreamEventHasBytesAvailable: { NSLog(@"Stream has bytes available"); if (aStream == iStream) { NSMutableString *totalOutput = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@""]; //read data uint8_t buffer[1024]; int len; while ([iStream hasBytesAvailable]) { len = [iStream read:buffer maxLength:sizeof(buffer)]; if (len 0) { NSString *output = [[NSString alloc] initWithBytes:buffer length:len encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; //this could have also been put into an NSData object if (nil != output) { //append to the total output [totalOutput appendString:output]; } } } NSLog(@"OUTPUT , %i:\n\n%@", [totalOutput lengthOfBytesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding], totalOutput); NSArray *outputComponents = [totalOutput componentsSeparatedByString:@" "]; //Attempt to get handshake code, since we haven't done it yet: if (handshakeCode == 1) { //we are just getting the sign-on banner: //let's move on: handshakeCode = 2; } else if (handshakeCode == 2) { handshakeCode = [[outputComponents objectAtIndex:0] intValue]; if (handshakeCode == 200) { NSLog(@"---Handshake OK %i", handshakeCode); NSMutableString *query = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@"cddb query f3114b11 17 225 19915 36489 54850 69425 87025 103948 123242 136075 152817 178335 192850 211677 235104 262090 284882 308658 4430\n"]; handshakeCode = 3; [self sendToOutputStream:query]; } } else if (handshakeCode == 3) { //now, we are reading out the matches: if ([[outputComponents objectAtIndex:0] intValue] == 200) //found exact match: { NSLog(@"Found exact match"); selectedGenre = [outputComponents objectAtIndex:1] ; selectedDiscId = [outputComponents objectAtIndex:2]; if (selectedGenre && selectedDiscId) { //send off the request to get the entry: NSString *query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"cddb read %@ %@\n", selectedGenre, selectedDiscId]; [self sendToOutputStream:query]; handshakeCode = 4; } } } } break; } case NSStreamEventEndEncountered: { NSLog(@"Stream event end encountered"); break; } case NSStreamEventErrorOccurred: { NSLog(@"Stream error occurred"); break; } case NSStreamEventHasSpaceAvailable: { NSLog(@"Stream has space available"); if (aStream == oStream) { if (handshakeCode == 0) { handshakeCode = 1; [self sendToOutputStream:@"cddb hello stackoverflow localhost.localdomain test .01BETA\n"]; } } break; } } } -(void)sendToOutputStream:(NSString*)command { const uint8_t *rawCommand = (const uint8_t *)[command UTF8String]; [oStream write:rawCommand maxLength:strlen(rawCommand)]; NSLog(@"Sent command: %@",command); } @end int main (int argc, const char * argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool * pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; stackoverflow *test = [[stackoverflow alloc] init]; [test getMatchesFromFreeDB]; NSRunLoop *runLoop = [NSRunLoop currentRunLoop]; [runLoop run]; [pool drain]; return 0; } Any help is much appreciated! • VB.NET - Read lines from command line to Windows form possible?

    - by Yiu Korochko
Hey Overflow, I have an application which serves as a user interface for a spartan/command line program. I have the program running on a separate process, and my application monitors it to see if it is responding and how mush CPU it is utilising. Now I have a list of files in my program (listbox) which are to be sent to the application, which happens fine. But I want to be able to read text from the com-line so as to determine when the first file has been processed. Com-line says one of "selecting settings", "unsupported format" and "cannot be fixed". What I want to be able to do is when it says one of these three things, remove item(0) in listbox1. Is this possible? I thought of programming an event which handles com_exe.print or something or other, if possible.

  • Masked Edit Extender Format Issue

    - by Kumar
I am using an ASP.NET AJAX Masked Edit Extender to format phone numbers <asp:TextBox ID="tbPhoneNumber" runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:MaskedEditExtender TargetControlID="tbPhoneNumber" Mask="(999)999-9999" MaskType="Number" InputDirection="LeftToRight" ClearMaskOnLostFocus="false" ClearTextOnInvalid="false" runat="server" AutoComplete="false" /> On the page load event I am trying to populate the phone textbox as follows: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { tbPhoneNumber.Text = "(394)456-310"; } So there is one number which is missing at the end to make it a valid phone number. When the page loads I expected the value in the textbox to be (394)456-310_ But it displays (_39)445-6310 Why is this happening?

  • C#: Windows Forms: Getting keystrokes in a panel/picturebox?

    - by Rosarch
I'm making a level editor for a game using windows forms. The form has several drop down menus, text boxes, etc, where the user can type information. I want to make commands like CTRL + V or CTRL + A available for working within the game world itself, not text manipulation. The game world is represented by a PictureBox contained in a Panel. This event handler isn't ever firing: private System.Windows.Forms.Panel canvas; // ... this.canvas = new System.Windows.Forms.Panel(); // ... this.canvas.PreviewKeyDown += new System.Windows.Forms.PreviewKeyDownEventHandler(this.canvas_PreviewKeyDown); What is the preferred way of doing this? Can a panel even receive keyboard input? I would like to allow the user to use copy/paste/select-all commands when working with the text input, but not when placing objects in the game world.
