  Hi guys. I've VS 2010 and recently installed WCF RIA Services V1.0. For testing I have created a new Silverligh Business project but now every now and then when I rebuild the solution I receive the following error: Does anybody know why I get this? • How to set SGEN toolpath in Msbuild to target 3.5 framework

  I've just upgraded a project from VS2008 to VS2010 but I'm still targeting the 3.5 framework. In my project file I have a custom task to run SGEN to generate my XmlSerializers.dll. However the version of sgen being run targets the 4.0 framework. As a result, when I run my application I get the error message: "Could not load file or assembly 'XXXX.XXXX.XmlSerializers' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded." • XCode Build Parse Error 'Unexpected @ in Program'

  I'm following a tutorial for creating an animation using Xcode Version 4.5.2 in Mountain Lion 10.8.2. When trying to build the code below, I get a Parse Error Unexpected '@' in program showing up for the 'hopAnimation=' line. While searching, I have found examples that build simple animations in a different way, but nothing that seems to address this particular problem. I'm a noob to XCode programming and if anyone could help me correct the syntax, I would highly appreciate it. • Brother bPAC SDK - Examples only print after Form is shown

  Hi there We have a small Brother Barcode printer which we like to control from a WCF Service. Brother has an API called bPAC SDK version 3 which allows to print those labels. But the problem arises, as soon as we want to print from code only without showing a windows with a button on it. As an addition, this happens only if you want to print a QR-code as barcode. Standard EAN-codes seems to work. Below is a small piece of code which outputs the stuff to a bitmap instead of the printer (debugging reasons). If this is called in Form.Show-event, it perfectly works. If this is called in Form.Load-event, it does NOT work. If this is called in a Form constructor, it does NOT work. If this is called somewhere else (without forms), it does NOT work. DocumentClass and related classes are COM-objects, so I guess the form setup/show process seems to do something which is not done without opening forms. I tried calling CoInitialize with a p/invoke, but it hadn't changed anything. Is there anyone out there willing and able to help me? Are there any alternatives which (also) MUST be able to print directly on our Brother printer? Thanks lot.

• Windows Workflow Foundation 4 (WF4) Bookmark

  I'm working with Visual Studio 2010 and have a workflow where I'm trying to resume a bookmark. The bookmark appears to be getting set just fine, but when I try to run the code below to resume it, I get an entry in the InstancesTable in the persistence database with the SurrogateLockOwnerID field set to an integer, usually this field is null, and I can no longer do anything with the workflow. I think this is indicating that I have some kind of blocking lock going on, but I can't find any references anywhere to the SurrogateLockOwnerID. Does anyone know what is causing this, and how to fix it? • .Net Windows Service Throws EventType clr20r3 system.data.sqlclient.sql error

  I have a .Net/c# 2.0 windows service. The entry point is wrapped in a try catch block yet when I look at the server's application event log I seem a number of "EventType clr20r3" errors that are causing the service to die unexpectedly. The catch block has a "catch (Exception ex)". Each sql commands is of the type "CommandType.StoredProcedure" and are executed with SqlDataReader's. These sproc calls function correctly 99% of time and have all been thoroughly unit tested, profiled, and QA'd. I additionally wrapped these calls in try catch blocks just to be sure and am still experiencing these unhandled exceptions. This only in our production environment and cannot be duplicated in our dev or staging environments (even under heavy load). Why would my error handling not catch this particular error? Is there anyway to capture more detail as to the root cause of the problem? Here is an example of the event log: EventType clr20r3, P1 RDC.OrderProcessorService, P2 1.0.0.0, P3 4ae6a0d0, P4 system.data, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4889deaf, P7 2490, P8 2c, P9 system.data.sqlclient.sql, P10 NIL. Additionally The Order Processor service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

• Building a VS2010 solution from TFS2008

  I have a TFS 2008 Build Agent that has been used to build .Net 3.5 applications. I now have a .Net 4.0 app which i want to compile on the same build agent. I have ensured that MSBuild 4.0 is installed on there and all the required componentry is also installed, but i am getting the following MSB4062 error when building: [Any CPU/Release] C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.targets(244,5): error MSB4062: The "Microsoft.WebApplication.Build.Tasks.GetSilverlightItemsFromProperty" task could not be loaded from the assembly C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.Build.Tasks.dll. Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\WebApplications\Microsoft.WebApplication.Build.Tasks.dll' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded. Confirm that the declaration is correct, and that the assembly and all its dependencies are available. I am presuming that i get this because the TFSBuild.proj gets executed by MSBuild 3.5 which in turn means my solution is compiled with MSBuild 3.5. Am i correct with my diagnosis? Is there any way to ensure that TFS2008 uses MSBuild 4.0 for my solution? Can it be done on a single team project so that it doesn't affect any other team projects being built on the same build agent?   I'm creating a jqgrid with drop down columns and I'm using cell editing. I need the options of the drop down columns to change dynamically and I've tried implementing this by setting the column to be: { name: "AccountLookup", index: "AccountLookup", width: 90, editable: true, resizable: true, edittype: "select", formatter: "select" }, and then in the beforeCellEdit event I have: beforeEditCell: function(id, name, val, iRow, iCol) { if(name=='AccountLookup') { var listdata = GetLookupValues(id, name); if (listdata == null) listdata = "1:1"; jQuery("#grid").setColProp(name, { editoptions: { value: listdata.toString()} }) } }, GetLookupValues just returns a string in the format "1:One;2:Two" etc. That works fine however the options are populated one click behind - ie i click on AccountID in row 1, and the dropdown is empty, however when I then click on AccountID in row 3 the options I set in the row 1 click are shown in the row 3 click. And so on. So always one click behind. Is there another way of achieving what I need? Bacially the dropdown options displayed are always changing and I need to load them as user enters the cell for editing. Perhaps I can somehow get at the select control in the beforeEditCell event and manually enter its values instead of using the setColProp call? If so could I get an example of doing that please? Another thing - if the dropdown is empty and a user doesn't cancel the cell edit, the grid script throws an error. I'm using clientarray editing if that makes a difference. • Passing parameters to telerik asp.net mvc grid

  I have a telerik asp.net mvc grid which needs to be populated based on the search criteria the user enters in separate text boxes. The grid is using ajax method to load itself initially as well as do paging. How can one pass the search parameters to the grid so that it sends those parameters "every time" it calls the ajax method in response to the user clicking on another page to go to the data on that page? I read the telerik's user guide but it does not mention this scenario. The only way I have been able to do above is by passing the parameters to the rebind() method on client side using jquery. The issue is that I am not sure if it is the "official" way of passing parameters which will always work even after updates. I found this method on this post on telerik's site: link text I have to pass in multiple parameters. The action method in the controller when called by the telerik grid runs the query again based on the search parameters. • ASP.NET websites under IIS 7.5 (Windows 7) running extremely slow

  I've just installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on my desktop PC. I installed IIS, Visual Studio 2008, registered ASP.NET, etc. I have this ASP.NET 3.5 website I'm working on running EXTREMELY slow on this new IIS. On STA and PROD servers (Windows 2003 Server) and on my old XP/IIS 5.1 everything runs smoothly. A page which usually takes 1-2 seconds to load is taking 8 seconds!!! I saw this post on IIS forum. It says something about Vista/7 not pooling connections (just to let you know, the website is running locally but it's connecting to a SQL Server 2005 hosted on a remote server). It seems that it takes a while to "start loading" the page... I mean, I click refresh and it stays for several seconds "Waiting for localhost"... Then when it gets response it loads the whole page normally... I don't have a clue how to force Win7/IIS7.5 to pool database connections. EDIT: I've created a new empty ASP.NET web application to see if the problems happens too. The answer is no, it responds fast as it should with an empty default page. Maybe is something related to the DB connection. I will do a further test. It should be a way to fix it... EDIT 2: Debugging the app I noticed that the delay occurs AFTER the execution of .NET code (Page_Load, etc)... so the delay seems to be somewhere when IIS serves the page to the browser.

  Hi, I am using calling web services and using WCF generated service-reference on the client. I have saved XML responses that are received from test service to disk (without SOAP envelope and body tags) I would like to load them from disk and create objects from them. Lets' take the following method from my web service: SomeMethodResponse SomeMethod(SomeMethodRequest req) I manually (through SOAP UI) save the response to disk to file, Sample response: < SomeMethodResponse xmlns="http://myNamespace"> <SomeMember1>value</SomeMember1> </SomeMethodResponse xmlns="http://myNamespace"> Then I try to deserialize the object from file using: DataContractSerializer dcs = new DataContractSerializer(typeof(SomeMethodResponse)) This fails – the serializer complains with the error, that it is expecting element in namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07', but found element in 'http://myNamespace'. Question: Why does the DataContractSerializer not use the namespace, that is declared on SomeMethodResponseType with XmlTypeAttribute(Namespace="http://myNamespace")? I can work around this by explicitly providing the namespace and the root element to DataContractSerializer constructor. But then it fails with message similar to: Error in line X position Y (last line of the XMLdocument). 'EndElement' 'SomeMethodResponse from namespace 'httpmyNapespace’ is not expected. Expecting element 'someNameField'. SomeName is an element in the XSD that web service is using. It is also a property on the SomeMethodResponse type, backed by the private field called someNameField. It looks like DataContractSerializer is trying to deserialize the fields in addition to properties. How can I deserailize XML that I have saved from disk and get back the object of same type that SomeMethod is returning? Thanks, Matra

However, when I try to open my UserControl in Blend I get XamlParseException: [Line: 0 Position: 0] and I can not see anything in the design view. More specifically Blend complains: The element "ListBoxDragDropTarget" could not be displayed because of a problem with System.Windows.Controls.ListBoxDragDropTarget: TargetType mismatch. My silverlight application is referencing System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit from the Nov. 2009 toolkit release, and I've made sure to include these namespace declarations for the ListBoxDragDropTarget: xmlns:controlsToolkit="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit" xmlns:mswindows="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Toolkit" If I comment out the ListBoxDragDropTarget control wrapper and just leave the ListBox I can see everything fine in the design view without errors. Furthermore, I realized this is happening with a variety of Silverlight Toolkit controls because if I comment out ListBoxDragDropTarget and replace it with <controlsToolkit:BusyIndicator /> the same exact error occurs in Blend. What is even weirder is that if I start a brand new silverlight application in blend I can add these toolkit elements without any kind of error, so it seems like something dumb that is happening with my project references to the toolkit assemblies. I'm pretty sure this has something to do with loading the default styles for the toolkit controls from its generic.xaml, since the error has to do with the TargetType and Blend is probably trying to load up the default styles. Has anyone encountered this issue before or have any ideas as to what may be my problem?

  Hi, I am writing a simple motion detection program but i want it to be cross platform so im using python and the pyglet library since it provides a simple way to load videos in different formats (specially wmv and mpeg). So far i have the code given below which loads the movie and plays it in a window.   I need to provide an export to excel feature for a large amount of data returned from a WCF web service. The code to load the datalist is as below: List<resultSet> r = myObject.ReturnResultSet(myWebRequestUrl); //call to WCF service myDataList.DataSource = r; myDataList.DataBind(); I am using the Reponse object to do the job: Response.Clear(); Response.Buffer = true; Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyExcel.xls"); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); StringWriter sw = new StringWriter(sb); HtmlTextWriter tw = new HtmlTextWriter(sw); myDataList.RenderControl(tw); Response.Write(sb.ToString()); Response.End(); The problem is that WCF Service times out for large amount of data (about 5000 rows) and the result set is null. When I debug the service, I can see the window for saving/opening the excel sheet appear before the service returns the result and hence the excel sheet is always empty. Please help me figure this out.

• Very slow performance deserializing using datacontractserializer in a Silverlight Application.

  Here is the situation: Silverlight 3 Application hits an asp.net hosted WCF service to get a list of items to display in a grid. Once the list is brought down to the client it is cached in IsolatedStorage. This is done by using the DataContractSerializer to serialize all of these objects to a stream which is then zipped and then encrypted. When the application is relaunched, it first loads from the cache (reversing the process above) and the deserializes the objects using the DataContractSerializer.ReadObject() method. All of this was working wonderfully under all scenarios until recently with the entire "load from cache" path (decrypt/unzip/deserialize) taking hundreds of milliseconds at most. On some development machines but not all (all machines Windows 7) the deserialize process - that is the call to ReadObject(stream) takes several minutes an seems to lock up the entire machine BUT ONLY WHEN RUNNING IN THE DEBUGGER in VS2008. Running the Debug configuration code outside the debugger has no problem. One thing that seems to look suspicious is that when you turn on stop on Exceptions, you can see that the ReadObject() throws many, many System.FormatException's indicating that a number was not in the correct format. When I turn off "Just My Code" thousands of these get dumped to the screen. None go unhandled. These occur both on the read back from the cache AND on a deserialization at the conclusion of a web service call to get the data from the WCF Service. HOWEVER, these same exceptions occur on my laptop development machine that does not experience the slowness at all. And FWIW, my laptop is really old and my desktop is a 4 core, 6GB RAM beast. Again, no problems unless running under the debugger in VS2008. Anyone else seem this? Any thoughts? • WPF application with MS Access database as a data source

  I have a Microsoft Access 2010 database. Now, using Visual Studio 2010, I want to create a WPF application and add the database as a data source. The app will have a window with a frame that provides navigation through pages. No problem so far. But: -What is the right way to set up the database in this scenario? Tables only? Or must everything go via queries? (VS2010 talks about views which I assume (?) are queries) -Database data must be updatable and records can be added. Some relationships go through link tables (many-to-many) and there are nullable foreign key relationships. Must I take manual steps to make it work? -While adding the data source VS2010 created an xsd from my Access database. I think the xsd might need further tweaking for the application to work the right way. What if I change my Access database design, I'd have to regenerate the xsd again as well. Is this right, and is it the way it is usually done? OR, should I let the original Access database go and give the application the capability to create new empty databases? -How do you provide controls in a page to step through the records in a table? Is there a special database control? -What is the way (WPF class?) to load records into the data context that displays in a page? (At this level it probably does not matter what type of data source it is.)

• javax.ejb.NoSuchEJBException after redeploying EJBs

  Using Glassfish 3.0.1 ... If I have a web application accessing EJBs in another application remotely, and the remote application containing the EJBs is redeployed, I get a javax.ejb.NoSuchEJBException (see stacktrace below). Shouldn't this work? I can see that the EJB in question was successfully deployed, using the exact same JNDI name. Is there any other way to fix this than to restart the web application? • apache htaccess rewrite rules make redirection loop

  Hi guys, Have a very strange problem with Apache .htaccess URL Rewriting and Redirection. Here's my setup: I have a zend application with a single point of entry (index.php) directly under my apache document root (call this the "public" folder). I also have all other public files (images, js, css, etc.) under the public folder. Here, I also have a wordpress blog under the "blog" folder. There's an empty test folder too The Problem When I go to mydomain.com/blog, I get redirected to http://www.theredpin.com/blog (correctly), then to http://www.theredpin.com/blog/ (just with an extra / at end), finally to http://theredpin.com/blog/ -- and we're back where we started. The loop continues. What I don't understand is why would wordpress try to remove the www? I'm guessing it's wordpress because my empty test folder acts just fine! PLEASE HELP. I"M REALLY DESPERATE :( Thank you very much Other things that happen: When I go to mydomain.com, i correctly get redirected to www.mydomain.com When I go to www.mydomain.com, i correctly stay where I am When I go to www.mydomain.com/test or mydomain.com/test, behaviour is correct. Setup So my .htaccess file does the following: If there's no www., then add it and do a 301 redirect. • Unable to regress web application from AJAX Control Toolkit 3.0 back to 1.0

  I was recently asked to stop using the Ajax Control Toolkit 3.0 in my application and need to go back to 1.0. Luckily I only have one calendar control which I don't believe will be affected by this. I have removed the reference to the 3.0 .dll and added a reference to the 1.0 .dll.   Consider i have three images and one bannerDiv.... On initial page load i should show the first image and after sometimeout say 300ms i must show the second image and vise versa.... I have to blur the first image and show second image ....
