  • Why won't this sql update query work?

    I have a table that has 5,000(table1) lines in it. Currently, 3,000 of them are filled up with data. The remaining values are currently null. In a separate table(table2), I have the remaining 2,000 rows of data. I am simply trying to take the values in table2 and put them in table1, but this statement isn't working: Update table1 Set field1 = (Select field1 From table2 Where table1.id = table2.id) Where Exists(Select field1 From table2 Where table1.id = table2.id) It looks like this should be working, but I am getting an error from Base, the db program I am using that just says error Near " ": syntax error...any help?? Thanks!

  • asmx web service returning xml instead of json in .net 4.0

    i have just upgraded a test copy of my site to asp.net 4.0 and have noticed a strange issue that only arises when i upload the site to my server. the site has an asmx web service that returns json, yet when i run the site on my server it returns xml. it as been working fine in asp.net 3.5 for over a year. the webMethod is decorated with the correct attributes... [WebMethod][ScriptMethod(ResponseFormat = ResponseFormat.Json)] public List<LocationRecentChange> RecentChanges() and on my local machine it returns json. yet on the server (Windows 2008 64bit) it returns xml. you can inspect the response on the test site here... my test site using firebug console you will see a 200 OK response and a bunch of XML, and on my local machine the data returned is the JSON i expect. Here is the javascript that calls the service.. function loadRecentData() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "service/spots.asmx/RecentChanges", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: loadRecentUpdates, failure: function(msg) { //alert(msg); } }); } Any suggestions welcome, this has got me stumped!

    Hi, I have been working as Software Developer for 6+ yrs. And I have worked from start ups to big companies. I always feel some elements missing in me and those are interest, passion etc. In short, I don't feel motivated while coming to work. This makes me think how my work-life balance will look like once I reach at more responsible positions. I don't want to change my field and I feel blessed as well but I think I am not working passionately for my learning, future growth, improvement, skills etc. Any pointers will be highly appreciated.   • NHibernate auditing in disconnected mode

    I'm developing an app with a Silverlight UI, transferring my domain objects over WCF and persisting them via NHibernate. I'm therefore working with NHibernate in a disconnected mode. I'm already using the NHibernate PreUpdate and PreInsert EventListeners to perform some metadata operations (updating Create/Update date, created/updated by etc) and they are working fine. I now have a requirement to perform data logging on some of my domain objects. So I will need to have an audit table that has a before-save and after-save state of certain entities. I had wanted to use the @event.Persister.OldState and @event.Persister.NewState to perform this logging, but because I am in a disconnected scenario (using different Sessions from when data is retrieved to when it is persisted), @event.Persister.OldState is null when I am saving my changes back to the database. How is anyone else doing data logging in a disconnected scenario with NHibernate?

  • varchar data type to datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range??

    Very weird problem occurred, I have moved a site from one server to another - All is working, but any query involving a date is playing up. I get the following: DELETE FROM MYTABLE WHERE categoryId = -2 AND datecreated < '3/23/2010'; The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value Now what's strange is I have changed the LCID to 1033 on the new server as the date is showing as US format and its still throwing an error! I then tried 2057 and again the same error? Made no difference. I'm a little confused, as this is a working site from a server with IIS6 - The locale is 1033 on that server and it works perfectly!! :S I have just tried thrown a Cdate() around the date too and yet again the same error??? Any ideas??

  • RMagick transparent_color deprecated? What's the alternative?

    I'm developing an app that does a fair amount of generating transparent pngs on the fly. These are used as overlays, to show areas of interest in a graphic, so they have to have transparent backgrounds. I am developing in Ruby on Rails, deploying on Heroku. What works fine in development is not working in production. I get this error when I call a drawing routine using RMagick: NotImplementedError (the `transparent_color=' method is not supported by ImageMagick 6.2.4): /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rmagick-1.15.17/lib/RMagick.rb:1691:in `transparent_color=' I'm using RMagick version 2.12.1 on the development machine, but I'm not exactly certain how to discover the version of ImageMagick that it's running, so I'm not sure if this is a case of my local code being behind or ahead. I'm hoping behind, because perhaps then there'll be a replacement for this call. Does anyone know what the fix is here? What's required to generate a transparent background, if not the call I'm using? I can't find this in the documentation: in fact, it was on a third-party site that I found mention of this capability.

For example this is not working .. do some SQl cods The above checking is not working , it is evaluating as equal in both the cases when booleanVariable is true and false . i tried to replace compareValue ="tree" and "false". As that is a monkey work i do sometimes . is it possible to check the boolean property in XML like above .

  • WPF - Weird results with DataGrid - extra line for editing entries

    Working with WPF and C#. I have a page with a datagrid that lists a series of objects with List as the DataContext. I recently had it working in the code behind and the Datagrid would show the extra line at the bottom of the datagrid for new entries. Now, I have moved the exact same code to its own library project. The data still appears but the extra line for entry does not and users cannot add a new record. I have already tried using grid.CanUserAddNew = true; but that does not solve it. So, it must be something in the List object - it's the exact same code as before, only pulling from a library. Help.

  • .net, C# Interface between Business Logic and DAL

    I'm working on a small application from scratch and using it to try to teach myself architecture and design concepts. It's a .NET 3.5, WPF application, and I'm using Sql Compact Edition as my data store. I'm working on the business logic layer, and have just now begun to write the DAL. I'm just using SqlCeComamnds to send over simple queries and SqlCeResultSet to get at the results. I'm starting to design my Insert and Update methods, and here's the issue - I don't know the best way to get the necessary data from the BLL into the DAL. Do I pass in a generic collection? Do I have a massive parameter list with all the data for the database? Do I simply pass in the actual business object (thus tying my DAL to the conrete stuff in the BLL?). I thought about using interfaces - simply passing IBusinessObjectA into the DAL, which provides the simplicity I'm looking for without tying me TOO tightly to current implementations. What do you guys think?

  • How do I Benchmark RESTful Service with Variable Parameters?

    I'm currently working on benchmarking a RESTful service I've made, and part of that is making sure it runs in a reasonable amount of times for a large array of parameters. For example, let's say I have RESTful API of the form some_site.com/item?item_id=y. In that case to be sure my service is working as fast as I'd like it to work, I'd want to try out many values for y one by one, preferably coming from some text file. I can't figure out any way of doing this in ab or httperf. I'm open to using a different benchmarking program if I have, but would prefer something simple and light. What I want to do seems like something pretty standard, so I'm guessing there must already be a program that let's me do it, but an hour or so of googling hasn't gotten me an answer. Ideas?

  • VisualSVN How to roll back the revision number ?

    The company I work in has suffered a major server failure. During this failure the SVN Repository was lost. But there is still hope ! We have an old backup of the repository which I've managed to successfully restore using VisualSVN. The problem I'm facing now is that I can't update / commit pre-failure checkedout folders. The reason for this problem is that for instance: a local folder has a revision number of 2361, while the repository itself holds a revision number of 2290, which is older. Is there a way to deal with this issue ? Can I some how change the revision numbers on either the local copy or the server copy? A few points: I'm using TortoiseSVN 1.6.6. I can checkout folders from the repo and the connection is active. I've picked one of my folders and used the Relocate option on it. This helped me see that there is something wrong with the revision number I've experimented a bit with the merge option but this lead me now where special.   • Rails is not passing the "commit" button parameter

    Reinstalling a Rails app on a new server. Part of the app can fork in one of two directions based on the button the user selects. This part isn't working, and when I look at the log I see the values that I gave the form, execept for the commit portion of the params hash. This seems to be why the app isn't working as expected (since there's nothing in params[:commit], but I have no idea why commit would not be passed in; the request is definitely a POST request, and all of the other parameters are there.

  • Two "Calendar" entries listed on iPad - can't write to calendar using EventKit

    My iOS app integrates with the device's calendar. On my iPad when I view the calendar app and tap the Calendars button on the top left to choose which calendars to show I see one entry named "Calendar". In my app when I loop through available calendars per the code below "Calendar" is listed twice. One is CalDAV for the type, the other is Local. I'm unable to create calendar entries in one of them, I believe the "Local" one, not sure why.   • CFEXCHANGECONNECTION error when username changes.

    We are attempting to connect to an Exchange server through CFEXCHANGECONNECTION on ColdFusion 9 to retrieve email. We can connect with a number of users. However, some users cannot connect. We end up with the following error: Cannot access Exchange server as a web application at <server> It turns out that the users who cannot connect either have a ampersand in there username or they have changed there username with CFLDAP. So, if I perform a CFLDAP on a working user and change the userPrincipalName and sAMAccountName the user will begin getting the error above. If I change it back to what it was to start with, the error will go away. Any ideas? EDIT The ampersand part seems to be misleading. Essentially we found the problem because of the ampersand. However, for working users who did not have an ampersand, the error will begins showing up if their username is changed to something that does not have an ampersand.

    I have a txt file on the server which contains 10 lines of text. The text file is rewritten sometimes, and I get new lines using "\r\n". My problem shows when I want to load the lines in javascript variables. I do it like this, but this work only for numbers or for the last line of the file, because its not using the breakline tag: var x = '<?php echo $file[0]; ?>'; Ive tried to alert(x) but it`s not working.... (working only if I read the last line) Any idead ?

  • Develop multiple very similar projects at once

    I am developing a semi-complicated site that is available in several countries at once. Much effort has been put in to make the code bases as similar as possible to one another and ultimately only the config file and some representational data will differ between them. Each project has its own SVN repository which maps directly to a live test site. That part is handled by the IDE we use to work. Now I am in need to create a some sort of system to keep all these projects in sync. The best theoretical solution so far is to create a local hook script that would fire on committing and Merge the committed files from the project that is being committed to all other projects Optionally upload them to the live site, replacing previous files The first problem is that I don't know how I would do the merging - I guess it would be like applying a SVN patch or something. The second is if I do not want to upload the changes to the live server, how would I go about synching the live and local code bases (replace older files?). I am posting this question, not going through the potentially huge trouble of solving the aforementioned problems myself is that I believe this is a pretty common situation and someone would already have a solution and others may benefit from the answers in the future. Lastly, I'm on windows7, develop PHP and use tortoiseSVN.

    i'm having some troubles compiling my work, i'm using ubuntu with g++! i get a lot of these messages: undefined reference to `boost::filesystem3::directory_entry::m_get_status(boost::system::error_code*) const' undefined reference to `boost::filesystem3::path::extension() const' undefined reference to `boost::filesystem3::path::filename() const' undefined reference to `boost::filesystem3::path::filename() const' (etc...) I've searched and found maaany answers but none of those work for me.     I was trying to use FMJ (for windows/linux/mac). Where JMF was not working for me (so decided to work with FMJ as it is cross platfaorm). But when ever i am trying FMJ it never works, where you can see the difference in the screen shot. ex: http://i.imgur.com/AjcJh.png Thanks & Regards Note: I have two camera connected in the same PC and Flash detects always both of them without any issue. But FMJ is never working ?????.
