    From local forum i understood that PreInit can be used to handle the following PreInit() >Master pages can be called dynamically >Themes can be set dynamically >Programatically add controls to controls collection and i read Init() is for Init() In this event, we can read the controls properties (set at design time). We cannot read control values changed by the user because that changed value will get loaded after LoadPostData() event fires. Question I am not getting the point "We cannot read control values changed by the user".Where do users change the value of control?.Example would help me to understand the point.

  • Elegant ways of displaying a GridView with lots of columns (ASP.NET)

    Hi, just a general design question that I'd like to hear some of your opinions on. I am designing a system for a client, and I'm using GridView' a lot. They need a lot of columns to be displayed in some of these, and I've had to resort to using a panel with a horizontal scrollbar. This presents some issues - keeping track of which row is which is difficult, even with alternating row colours, and it's generally pretty ugly. How have you dealt with these issues before? Are there any sort of AJAX controls that could help, so some data could be only displayed on hover or such? Or any other general ideas.

    I am using visual studio 2005 c#, and doing server side coding. I have a list of checkboxes in my gridview via checkbox template. I have tried to assign a checkbox in my header template, and assigned a checkbox_checkchange method to make it such that when the checkbox at the header is checked, the list of checkboxes in the template will be checked as well. However, it does not work and I am not able to spot the mistake. Below is my code for my checkbox in header template: protected void CheckAllCB_CheckedChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { CheckBox chk = (CheckBox)GridView1.HeaderRow.FindControl("CheckAll"); if (chk.Checked) { for (int i = 0; i < GridView1.Rows.Count; i++) { CheckBox chkrow = (CheckBox)GridView1.Rows[i].FindControl("UserSelector"); chkrow.Checked = true; } } else { for (int i = 0; i < GridView1.Rows.Count; i++) { CheckBox chkrow = (CheckBox)GridView1.Rows[i].FindControl("UserSelector"); chkrow.Checked = false; } } } Thus I tried using a button to assign the checkall command instead. However, when I clicked on the button, the page does nothing but just refreshes itself.   • .NET & Worflow, SqlTrackingQuery.GetWorkflows() on wire correct - presented object not

    With windows workflow when using the tracking service, the SqlTrackingQuery.GetWorkflows() method returns correctly the workflow type and assembly version on the wire from the DB query - but when one comes to query the returned SqlTrackingWorkflowInstance object it's WorkflowType.AssemblyQualifiedName property is returned as the current assembly version of the workflow type (i.e. it looks to matching on FQ type name only and not version). Anyone know how to get to the actual returned data (other than either a custom query or hook)?

  • Count of Distinct Int32 Values in .NET

    I am receiving a stream of unordered Int32 values and need to track the count of distinct values that I receive. My thought is to add the Int32 values into a HashSet<Int32>. Duplicate entries will simply not be added per the behavior of HashSet. Do I understand correctly that set membership is based on GetHashCode() and that the hash code of an Int32 is the number itself? Is there an approach that is either more CPU or more memory efficient? UPDATE The data stream is rather large. Simply using Linq to iterate the stream to get the distinct count is not what I'm after, since that would involve iterating the stream a second time.

    Hi, I have defined my class: public class Host { public string Name; } then a strobgly-typed dictionary: Dictionary<string, Host> HostsTable; then I try to compare a value: if (HostsTable.Values.Where(s => s.Name == "myhostname") != null) { doSomething } and the problem is, nothing is found, even I'm sure the item is on the list. What I'm doing wrong ?

  • .NET DB Query Without Allocations?

    I have been given the task of re-writing some libraries written in C# so that there are no allocations once startup is completed. I just got to one project that does some DB queries over an OdbcConnection every 30 seconds. I've always just used .ExecuteReader() which creates an OdbcDataReader. Is there any pattern (like the SocketAsyncEventArgs socket pattern) that lets you re-use your own OdbcDataReader? Or some other clever way to avoid allocations? I haven't bothered to learn LINQ since all the dbs at work are Oracle based and the last I checked, there was no official Linq To Oracle provider. But if there's a way to do this in Linq, I could use one of the third-party ones.
