    My question is : I want to know when does a xLayout (or ViewGroup in general) add a child view from XML ? And by "when" I mean at what point of code, in what "pass" of the "traversal" of the UI toolkit ? Which method of xLayout or ViewGroup should I override ?     instead of SELECT * FROM mytable, i would like to select all fields EXCEPT one (namely, the 'serialized' field, which stores a serialized object). this is because i think that losing that field will speed up my query by a lot. however, i have so many fields and am quite the lazy guy. is there a way to say... `SELECT ALL_ROWS_EXCEPT(serialized) FROM mytable` ? thanks!

    when use mmap to allocate some anonymous mem, we often set the start address as 0/null so mmap will figure out the starting address by itself. And to get the start address, it will work thought the whole virtual memory space to find a hole which could put the chuck of mem to be allocated. I guess this is calculated as user cpu instead of sys cpu. If the virtual memory is fragmented, then the time to find the starting address will use more user cpu, is my understanding correct

    I am using the return from the following call as the datasource for a grid. public object GetPropertyDataSourceWithCheckBox( ) { return ( from p in LocalProperties join c in GetCities( ) on p.CityID equals c.CityID orderby p.StreetNumber select new { Selected = false, p.PropertyID, p.StreetNumber, p.StreetName, c.CityName } ).ToList( ); } I get a checkbox in the grid, but it is READ-ONLY. [For the record, the grid is DevExpress.] Is there a way around this, short of creating a non-anonymous class?

  • Is there a way to accumulate a commit message with git while examing changes?

    I use "git add -p" to stage my changes. What I'd like to be able to do is to accumulate a commit message as I'm examining my changes and then when I call "git commit", it is already filled out for me and allows me to make changes before I commit. Now, its easy to do with git gui by simply examining the changes and editing the commit message text box accordingly, but I'm a command line guy and was wondering if this is possible at the command line.

Every time I do, all the properties are returned with their defaults (null, 0, etc.) Is there a way to make this work?     Does anybody know for what the acronym ZIP stands for which was and is used in programs like PKZIP and GZIP? There is a compression algorithm named Lempel-Ziv-Welch-Algorithm (LZW) maybe the guy named Ziv invented together with other people ZIP? I cannot find anything about it, maybe its not an abbreviation but instead it just means "to zip files" but I think originally there was more about it..
