  • Core Data - Best way to save a "number of items"

    - by Daniel Granger
The user will have a static list of items to choose from. Using a Picker View they will choose one of the items and then select how many of them they want. Whats the best way to save this in core data? A Struct? struct order { NSInteger item; NSInteger numberOf; }; Or some sort of relationship? Many Thanks

  • thresholding to distinguish small features in noisy data

    - by Daniel
Hi, I'm wondering what type of threshold would work well for distinguishing features that are very small (small in the xy sense) in comparison with the full spread, if that makes sense. The graythresh() function in Matlab that uses the Otsu method doesn't work too well for my data. Otsu is a clustering method where I think the # of pixels should be similar in each class, which is not the case for me so when I employ it I get a threshold that is way too small and falls well within a lot of the background noise that remains even after filtering.

  • How to find which existing .NET solutions contain a certain project?

    - by Daniel Daranas
I am exploring a structure of folders with C# projects such as the following: Projects ProjectA ProjectB ProjectC ProjectD Scattered around in the same folders as the .csproj files, there are several solution (.sln) files. Is there a fast way to find all the solutions that contain ProjectD.csproj? I can open them one by one and see what they contain, but I would like a feature such as "find all the solutions containing this project".

  • F# function calling syntax confusion

    - by Daniel
I have a piece of code: links |> Seq.map (fun x -> x.GetAttributeValue ("href", "no url")) Which I wanted to rewrite to: links |> Seq.map (fun x -> (x.GetAttributeValue "href" "no url")) But the F# compiler doesn't seem to like that. I was under the impression that these two function calls were interchangeable: f (a, b) (f a b) The error that I get is: The member or object constructor 'GetAttributeValue' taking 2 arguments are not accessible from this code location. All accessible versions of method 'GetAttributeValue' take 2 arguments. Which seems amusing, as it seems to indicate that it needs what I'm giving it. What am I missing here?

  • When does the @ become usefull?

    - by DaNieL
As you know, the @ characters before a php istruction suppress every eventual warning, error or notice from being raised. Personally, i dont like this tecnique, becose i prefer to handle those errors, and in a real life, the error must no happen or have to be managed. By the way, i find this tecnique to be applied in many scripts (cms plugins, open-source classes). So, could the @ really be usefull (in this case, an example would be appreciated), or is just for lazy developers?

  • GTK+ and GdkPixbuf

    - by Daniel
Hi all, I think I've got an understanding problem of GTK. My simple application has a stream of images and I'd like to display them within my GTK Window. Up to now, it looks like this: GdkPixbuf *pb = gdk_pixbuf_new_from_data(img2, GDK_COLORSPACE_RGB, FALSE, 24/3, 320, 240, 320*3, NULL, NULL); if(pb == NULL) fprintf(stderr, "Pixbuf is null!\n"); if(image != NULL) gtk_container_remove(GTK_CONTAINER(window), image); image = gtk_image_new_from_pixbuf(pb); gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(window), image); printf("Updated!\n"); img2 is my (rgb) buffer that gets updated from a stream each time. I guess gtk_container_remove and gtk_container_add might be stupid to use for this? Here's what I've got in addition: GtkWidget *window; GtkWidget *image; gtk_init(&argc, &argv); window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL); gtk_signal_connect(GTK_OBJECT(window), "destroy", GTK_SIGNAL_FUNC(destroy), NULL); /* ... */ start_routine_for_stream_that_calls_the_above(...) /* ... */ gtk_widget_show_all(window); gtk_main(); My problem is that it's not working this way... either I see only the last GdkPixbuf image or I see none, which is the correct behaviour ... But how do I manage it to show an (stream of) updated GdkPixbuf? Thanks for help

  • What is a good way to simulate O_NOFOLLOW on systems without this flag?

    - by Daniel Trebbien
I would like to safely be able to simulate open with O_CREAT | O_WRONLY | O_TRUNC | O_NOFOLLOW and O_CREAT | O_WRONLY | O_APPEND | O_NOFOLLOW on systems that do not support O_NOFOLLOW. I can somewhat achieve what I am asking for with: struct stat lst; if (lstat(filename, &lst) != -1 && S_ISLNK(lst.st_mode)) { errno = ELOOP; return -1; } mode_t mode = S_IRUSR | S_IWUSR | S_IRGRP | S_IWGRP | S_IROTH | S_IWOTH; int fd = open(filename, O_CREAT | O_WRONLY | O_TRUNC | O_NOFOLLOW, mode); but then I introduce a race condition and possibly a security problem. I thought about maybe creating a dummy file with only the user being able to write, kind of like touching filename, doing the lstat check, and then using chmod after I finish writing (to correct the file mode bits), but I could be overlooking something major (e.g. if the file at filename exists, is not a regular file, or is already a symbolic link). What do you think?

  • Open Source .NET embedded web/http server

    - by Daniel Mošmondor
I am working on a project where I need to embed a web server into my C# application so the application could display it's status via HTTP. I suppose I'll want to configure it through the http also. I am looking for an open-source library written in C# and with a licensing scheme that will allow me to link it into my existing closed source code (LGPL). Any suggestions of specific products or where to look first? It would be great if that product could have some kind of scripting, at least templates. All html output would go from the application, only resources would be stored on the disk (images, icons, ...) EDIT: I would like it to run under .NET 2.0, however.

  • Mapping LINQ to SQL table to another very similar table without iterating through every one

    - by Daniel Coffman
Apologies for the vague question. Here it is: I have a table object created by LINQ to SQL. I am copying entries from one table to an "archive" table that has all the columns of the original, plus a couple extra ones. It feels sloppy to iterate through every object and manually define the mapping like: foreach (oldTable in dbContextOldTables) { var newTable = new NewTable(); newTable.TableID = oldTable.ID; newTable.Title = oldTable.Title; ... (repeat for twenty columns) newTable.ColumnThatIsntInOldTable = "Data that will be the same for every row"; dbContext.NewTables.InsertOnSubmit(newTable); } dbContext.SubmitChanges(); Is there a clever way to do this?

  • PHP: report table with date gaps

    - by Daniel
Hi. I have a table in DB which contains summaries for days. Some days may not have the values. I need to display table with results where each column is a day from user selected range. I've tried to play with timestamp (end_date - start_date / 86400 - how many days in report, then use DATEDIFF(row_date, 'user_entered_start_date') and create array from this indexes), but now I've got whole bunch of workarounds for summer time :( Any examples or ideas how to make this correct? P.S. I need to do this on PHP side, because DB is highly loaded.

  • .net configurable business error messages

    - by Daniel
Hi all, I need to implement some kind of solution such that in our business logic layer when certain conditions are met an error message is returned. That error message should be configurable either in a file or table that can be edited at run time if needed. I've seen it done before a few ways and it always ends up something like "This error message is {0}" and then when the dev goes the use the message they dont neccesarily know how many (if any) parameters the message needs. Just hoping to leverage off something that may have already been done, I dont think there is a provider or anything already in the .net framework.

  • VB.NET Incrementing Indexes

    - by Daniel
    Hello, I am having trouble incrementing the indexes of my list item properties. Here is the code. Dim i As Integer = 0 For x As Integer = 1 To list.Count / 19 database.ExecuteCommand("INSERT INTO Contacts VALUES ('" + _ list.Item(i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "', '" + _ list.Item(++i) + "')") Next The ++i does not increment at all in the parameters. Thanks

  • How to send data securely over a public channel?

    - by Daniel
Hi! I have a smart client application being deployed with a CickOnce webpage. here's the current scenario. 1.User runs the application, and the application shows a login form. 2.User enters ID/Password in the login form, and the application sends that information to the server. 3.The server authenticates the user and sends configuration and data to the application. Different users have different configuration and data for their application. I was concerned that anyone can download the application from the webpage if they know the URL. So I'm trying to change the authentication scheme, so that users can login at the webpage to download the application. I want to send the authentication info from the webpage(Program running at the server) to the smart client app, so that application can download the configuration information from the server, without prompting users to make a login again. How can the webpage send the ID/Passoword to the application securely?

  • How can I open another tab in the browser from the Code Behind [duplicate]

    - by Daniel Powell
This question already has an answer here: Response.Redirect to new window 18 answers I have an ASP.Net project that I am working on that involves opening another tab in the browser from the vb.net (code behind). I have tried to use the WebBrowser control to open the new tab as well as tried to use the Script manager however I have not been able to open the new tab. The button I am using is a custom button in a DevExpress GridView, and I am handling its click with this code: Private Sub ASPxGridView2_CustomButtonCallback(sender As Object, e As DevExpress.Web.ASPxGridView.ASPxGridViewCustomButtonCallbackEventArgs) Handles ASPxGridView2.CustomButtonCallback If e.ButtonID <> "customButton" Then Return End If Dim neededID = ASPxGridView2.GetRowValues(e.VisibleIndex, "target") Dim id = CStr(neededID) Dim url = ("targetPage.aspx" + "?ID=" + id) Dim wb As WebBrowser wb.Navigate(url,True) End Sub I'm not sure why this would not work, any suggestions as to how I should open a new browser tab with or without the WebBrowser works for this project. EDIT: I cannot use javascript with this ASPxGridview So I need an answer that doesn't involve modification to the javascript except through the vb.net code behind

  • Does anyone know what is the 32 character string before the product image filename in Magento ?

    - by Daniel Higgins
I ask this question, since I am trying to get the images I have just copied from Domain A to work in Domain B, (which is using the same database). http://DOMAIN_A/magento/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/b/0/b0041-1.jpg I think knowing what the 32 character string is, which help me find a good explanation why the images are not being found in the front or backend of Magento after reinstall on DOMAIN B. Hello, I have a problem with my two RewriteRules. .htaccess: # protect the htaccess file <files .htaccess> order allow, deny deny from all </files> RewriteEngine On Options +FollowSymlinks Options -Indexes RewriteBase /test/ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^download/([0-9]+)$ download.php?id=$1 [L] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?c=view&misc=$1 [B] If the url contains download (some like this: mydomain.com/download/9) the first rule should redict this request to download.php?id=9. But it doesn't. var_dump($_GET) shows the following: array(2) { ["c"]=> string(4) "view" ["misc"]=> string(9) "index.php" } index.php Any ideas?

  • When to use reflection to convert datarow to an object

    - by Daniel McNulty
I'm in a situation now were I need to convert a datarow I've fetched from a query into a new instance of an object. I can do the obvious looping through columns and 'manually' assign these to properties of the object - or I can look into reflection such as this: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/11914/Using-Reflection-to-convert-DataRows-to-objects-or What would I base the decision on? Just scalability??
