• URL subfolder rewrite without server access

  I am having trouble with the following. I have a site in development that has every link on the site pointing to the wrong folder. Example: example.com/en/home/, a site link goes to example.com/en/, which throws a 404. Now the way the system is setup requires server access but I do not have that and I/S is backlogged with requests and will take a week. But I still need to develop the site. So is there a way to have the browser recognize when example.com/en/ is clicked then automatically redirect it to example.com/en/home so it bypasses the 404 and I can actually work. Im looking for anything that gets the job done. I am considering developing a Chrome app to do this but that would mean a shit ton of overtime and more work I don't want to do. Is there a easier way of doing this?

• Change the scale-policy of OpenGL ES in Android?

  I currently develop a game for Android in OpenGL ES 1.0, use libgdx library. I target the 720x480 screen size. For example, I design only one arts pack for 720x480. And what will happen in Android phones with screen-size smaller or bigger than it, 480x320 for instance? Could you please tell me how to change the scale-policy of OpenGL ES in Android? Or in libgdx specially? Is there anything like "Resample Image" like photoshop?(Nearest Neighbor, Bilinear, Bicubic etc..) for libgdx? Edit: I found some tutorials about texture filter in OpenGL, test it with Linear and Nearest. Linear is good for scaling but slow down the game, and Nearest is on the contrary. What should I do to get a balance between those?

• Browser game in JSP? [closed]

  I want to develop a browser-game (like ogame, travian) and I have some doubts in which technologies should I use. I was thinking in a server-side in JSP,Java and a client-side in HTML (or HTML5 if I learn to give it good use). Do you think my choices are right? I would like to make a board where many players could move simultaneously between tiles or squares. Do you think is possible in JSP or I should start with other language? I don't get a lot of opportunities to learn at my organization since we primarily support existing systems and just fix issues arising on a day to day basis, We are not expected by the parent company to develop solutions from scratch. I aspire to become an Architect. Please guide me how should I plan to acquire the required skills and Knowledge esp since my company doesn't provide me with the right opportunities. • Frameworks for targetting multiple environments

  What should drive the decision behind doing development upon one or more than one framework? For instance, an ERP is (mostly) run on a Windows station. It leverages full access to device's resources, like printers, barcode readers, fingerprint readers and the like. It's usually more responsive and easier do develop with. That being said, some parts of it must be accessed exclusively in self-service mode, by enterprise's customers, suppliers and partners. This could be accomplished with smartphones, tablets, or even desktops running a web browser. What are the economics behind that? Should two team be kept, each one doing work upon its own framework? Or the most permissive framework should be chosen? Should I care something other than HTML technologies? Should I consider native technology for each device?

  We have a peculiar requirement and our site is in magento. Requirement We want the user to fill in a personal information form with their image. After that, the user should be redirected to a product subscription page where he can select either 3 month, 6 month or on yearly basis. Now, when the selection is made, the user should make the payment via our payment method. How can I develop this? I am not able to figure it out. Should I go about editing the registration page or what? Let me know how you will deal with such a requirement?

  I have a prospect with both an idea and an existing customer of theirs who want to pay for this idea to be implemented. The customer want to pay only when the implementation is complete. My prospect has separate investors that will fund the implementation. The prospect wants to know how much I will charge for the implementation so that he knows how much to ask the investors for. Before I can estimate reliably I need to work with the prospect to develop an implementation plan. This planning work will take time that I want to charge for. The prospect doesn't have enough money to pay me until the investment. I want to make sure I am paid for the planning. How can I resolve this?

• Custom widgets/controls in application indicators

  I want to develop an app for ubuntu, that integrates inside the calendar indicator/menu. It should allow to enter info right from it, and have several controls like input boxes, drop downs, spinners and buttons. Is this possible to integrate/replace the standard date/time indicator? If not, is it possible to create it as a separate indicator that when clicked opens a popup with all the controls and stuff? I want it to look as part of the sys tray and not as a separate desktop app. I'm using Quickly for this. Thanks for your help!

• Best Graphics card (Setup) for three, high-res monitors attached to desktop

  I have been looking around a little bit, but most of the discussions are about problems with already existing systems (particular graphics card and setup etc.). I would like to ask what would be the best option for me if I want to build powerful desktop with triple monitor setup. I have one Dell UltraSharp U2713HM (27 inches, 2560x1440) and I was thinking about getting two more. Would it be possible to have those three working with ubuntu (kubuntu) on any graphics card out there today? What is the best option if it comes to choosing particular model? Should I use proprietary drivers or some open sourced ones? I am not a gamer. I mostly develop on my machines and running some computational tasks, but I would rather like to spend some more money and have setup where I don't see any lags :) thank You very much in advance! • Algorithm to Sort member into groups

  I'll have to develop an application which the final purpose is to sort all the member into groups. Each group will have the same size. And I had to put the members into the groups several times during the execution of the program. To put the member into the groups, a lot of critria are to be look at, because we do not want that two people are put again together two time in the same execution of the program, of course if it's the only way to find a correct solution, it' fine, and there is a lot of other criteria, like some people can be willing to be always with another member. So to resume, we have n members to put in groups of size 8. After the first "round" we have to do again the algorithm to sort them differently. And a lot of critria may go in the calculation of the priority of each member Do you have any idea?

Tasks check every minute with a third party application through web services, retrieving data which is written in the database, then the data is forwarded to it's original destination. • What is the most cross-browser/system compatible option for 3d graphics on a web page?

  I would like to develop a bit of functionality for a web site that involves a bit of 3D - the user can move around objects, rotate them and texture them. So far I've looked into: WebGL (in particular three.js) and it looks great, but it's not supported in IE nor IOS. IOS supports the <canvas> tag, but only 2d. It looks like three.js has an unsupported hack to make a 3d thing use the 2d canvas instead without textures, but this looks like a hack. I also considered resorting to Flash which works on most browsers, but that won't work on IOS. What's my best option for doing 3d web graphics on the vast array of browsers and interfaces? At the moment I'm thinking WebGL for web (and ask people to use chrome or firefox, and take the hit on IE) and then maybe write a native app for IOS, but I am not sure if there are better alternatives available that I don't know of.

  I love PHP and C# languages and i want to be excellent in both. I like to develop PHP applications using MySQL, Nginx, Memcached and so on technologies. I also like ASP.NET MVC stack and think it's great tools. But each technology requires a lot of time to master it. The same is true for C# web stack - there is a huge amount of things to be mastered like Azure, LINQ, Entity Framework ets. Mastering PHP means knowing how it works under the hood. Mastering C# means knowing CLR implementations on a deep level, knowing MSIL etc/ Where to get time for all this? Maybe this is "jack of all trades"? What can you advice?

• Would md5 hashes allow detection of synced files?

  We have to develop our own file management system in Java web application. We need to sync files between our main server and client severs and find out whether all the client server has all the latest version of files. Our files are in pdf, doc and xls format they changes every now and then as and when it is required. What we are thinking of using MD5 checksum to find out hashcode of files on Main server and store it in database. Same would be there in Client Servers database. After comparing records on database we would come to know whether client servers are synced or not. Please suggest if there are any better ways to do the same.

• Is a Hackathon a good place to present serious projects?

  I'm participating in my first hackathon soon. I have a great idea that has been rolling around in my head for a while, and if it takes off I'd obviously like to have my name on it/make some money on it. Is a hackathon a good place to present a project I'm serious about? How will the ownership work? I think I could get the project functional over the weekend of the event, but I'd definitely want to develop it further after. I'd like to be cited with the concept, but people who work with me on it would obviously be partial owners (or whatever would be considered fair). My main goal is for this project to get off the ground, but I also don't want to be left out if it ends up making money.
