  How to get the total amount of memory used by 32bit applications and 64bit applications from the command line in Windows. I tried using tasklist /FI "MODULES eq wow64.dll" /FO CSV and then parsing the output and summing. But tasklist just freezes with any command that has something to do with modules (tasklist /m and tasklist /fi "modules eq wow64.dll" freeze). Are there any alternatives? Or some idea why tasklist freezes.

• Internet slowed down because of SQUID Server setup

  Recently I have setup a squid server for our office. I have computer (A) with two ethernet cards, one for internet and the second one for local networkIt has Ubuntu server OS with squid-server and dhcp3-server installedI have added few iptable rules to work like a router and redirect all http traffic to 3128 port This link is my reference. Everything worked fine for 2 days. All of a sudden internet speed went down drastically. When I connected the internet cable to my laptop to test the internet speed it was fine. Again when I reconnected it back to computer A everything was normal. This happened 4 times in a week. Could anyone here please help me why the internet speed is going down and it becomes normal when I reconnect the cable. EDIT: Rebooting the system (computer A) didn't make a difference. I have changed iptables so that http traffic doesn't redirect to 3128 port any further, still no change in the internet speed. I think the problem is not with squid but with something else.   Our company uses Oracle's JD Edwards Enterprise to do accounting work. We have an application consultant working for us to just deal JD Edwards but he is of non-technical background so only helps in application-specific support. All of our users should use IE 7 for JDE. About 15-20% of those users have problems which cause them to not be able to use IE 7. So those problematic users use firefox. For the most part firefox works fine but there are a few issues. Some menus / options within JDE that are present in IE 7 are not present in firefox. If I could get all of our users working under IE 7, all the firefox issues would be mute points. I have cross referenced Internet Options settings from a working IE 7 user and a non-working IE 7 user. All settings seem to be mirrored. I'm not sure how to go about continuing to troubleshoot this issue. So not only answers but just suggestive ideas for attack would be appreciated. Thanks

• Ubuntu Server and setting up two nic cards

  I have ubuntu server on a computer with a wireless and hardwired nic card. The wireless needs to get the internet and pass it to the ubuntu server as well as pass it along to the hardwired nic card to more computers. I am having issues getting the basic set up as I believe the route table is grabbing from the wrong nic card. The router is 192.168.1.0 and the server is set to 192.168.1.11 on the wireless card through DHCP ETH0 (wired nic card) is set up to be 10.10.10.0 and the server is 10.10.10.1) I am not a linux or networking guru but basically I am trying to have internet come from a guest network 192.168.1.0 i believe to give internet to the ubuntu server then the ubuntu server will also A) have the wired nic serve DHCP addresses to other computers via a switch or router (that acts as a switch) via 10.10.10.0 addresses. And I would love if it also passed along internet capabilities as well if possible. Bu really at this point my hope is to at least get the internet working on the server and the DHCP to pass correctly. At the moment the specific issue I am having is getting ubuntu server to connect to the internet and have both nic cards up and running correctly. Any help would be appreciated! • Can I use a Drobo FS over the internet? -Or alternative?

  I have a lot of files. A HUGE Aperture library, lots of design work from Photoshop, and a rather large iTunes library too. I really want to get a Drobo FS, the networked one, to store all of my stuff on, so that I can get to it from my MacBook Air (which obviously with its minuscule 64GB drive can't hold my Aperture library by itself) and my iMac which is my main powerhouse. The dealbreaker for me is that I NEED to be able to access my Aperture library, and especially my iTunes library from across the internet. I understand that it will probably be slow and everything, but there's nothing else I can do besides hauling around a huge hard drive with me. So, is there any way I can somehow share my Drobo across the internet, on a VPN or something? My other alternative is to upload everything to my web host, FatCow, which offers unlimited disk space (something I hope to make them regret) and then access it using Expandrive. My only thoughts with this are that with the Drobo, any work that I do locally will be much snappier than if I have to work everything off the cloud. Any suggestions about alternatives would also be welcome.

  I have Ubuntu 12.04.I was downloading something via aria..and then it suddenly stopped..no connection to Internet. I tried to ping the host but no reply..also tried to ping the route 192.168.250.1 but no reply got a message saying 'Ubuntu 12.04 has experienced internal error'. I restarted system but nothing is sorted out. The wired connection 'establishes' but I am not able to use Internet or ping either to host/route/8.8.8.8. The wireless is working fine and it does connect to Internet. I have a static IP address for wired connection and it does connect to Internet on Windows OS installed on this same Laptop with same IP settings.. please suggest how do i get my wired connection start working properly again..

  As you might know sandboxing software doesn't work in 64bit Windows due to patchguard. What are the alternatives for a person looking to test untrusted / temporary software? Edit: @Nick I'd prefer an alternative to VMs as I'm not happy with the extended startup time, the extra login sequences and the memory overhead that accompanies booting a VM solution to test something out ocassionally as a home user. Also it's another system that needs to be kept secure and up to date.

• Restrict Computer or Users from Internet but allow access to intranet and Windows Update / ePO?

  So this may be impossible but I've been asked to try and find something about it. So far nothing I have found is possible. I need to restrict specific machines or user accounts from regular Internet access but let them have access to the intranet portion of our network. I do not have Active Directory control, nor does anyone at my local workplace (corporate control in a different state). I have tried going through IPsec and doing this per local machine, but that system seems to have been removed from the images that are installed on these machines so that is out. So far the only other option I can think of is assigning the machines a specific ip address and removing their gateway access. This would probably work but the machines need to be able to receive updates that are being pushed to them through ePO and LanDesk. I would really like to do this on the user level because then if I need to do tech work to the machine and need internet access I can get to it but a "special" user could login and not be able to get into anything.

  I'm using the sysinternals AD Explorer quite frequently to search and inspect an Active Directory without any big problems. But now i'd like to connect not only to a single AD Server. Instead i like to inspect the global catalog. If i enter within the AD Explorer connect dialog only the dns name of the machine (e.g. dns.to.domain.controller) that is serving the global catalog i only receive the concrete domain for which it is responsible, but not the whole forest (that's normal behaviour and expected by me). If i'm going to add the default port number (3268) for the global catalog in the form dns.to.domain.controller:3268 AD Explorer will simply crash without any further message. The global catalog itself works as expected under the given name and port number, cause our apache server use exactly this address and port number to authenticate some users. So any hints or tips to access the global catalog out of AD Explorer? Or there are any other nice tools like AD Explorer out there that doesn't have any problems to access the global catalog?

  Does image block save internet bandwidth usage. I have a data capped plan from my ISP ( 5GB at 2mbps and thereafter 256 kpbs / pm). I doubt if the addon or other similar addon actually saves bandwidht. Here is my point of view, pls correct if that is wrong. When a request is sent to the server, the server sends out whatever page it's requested to serve with all its text and images etc. So essentially my ISP has made his pipe available for the data to reach me thus he would count those bytes under my data plan. When the data arrives it's all first stored to my browser cache (folder) area which means all the data has actually been received by me/computer using my ISP's pipe. The browser then fetches those data from the cache and displays it. By hitting the stop button or blocking images via ur addon I am just choosing not to display the data which would remain in the cache or eventually be discarded if still on the network pipe after a timeout limit. The point is the data request have been completed by the ISP and so the data would be metered and thus using addon such as image block or hitting stop button while page is loading does not in any way save internet bandwidth. • Windows 2008 64bit: applications and explorer always hang

  I setup a couple of Window 2008 64bit systems about 5 months ago. Initially all seemed well. Now however, for no apparent reason, things are dog slow, apps hang, explorer hangs, just clicking on something can cause a CPU spike of 100%, and often it's explorer that is eating it up. As I have two on identical hardware, and they experience the same problem, it doesn't seem related to addon software. The only thing these have in common is Kaspersky and I've tried disabling/uninstalling to no avail. There are no useful error messages in the event logs. Actually, the system never even reports app hangs. Sometimes, it similar to what I've seen on Windows 7 systems where the screen goes milky and asks if I want to trouble shoot, that's only when get impatient and click happy. The really odd thing, is that it will NOT do this for a few minutes at a time, and then starts up again. Like I will click on the start menu and browse for the Admin Tools, the start menu will hang at some point and I'll have to wait about a minute, then it's OK. The next time I do this, a few seconds later, it's fine. Every click seems to hang the first time around, then be ok the second time if I do the exact same thing. If anyone has any suggestions, please PLEASE let me know! thanks =)

• I can't connect to internet via lan cable because 2032 battery died and my bios bios info is now empty [closed]

  I have a compaq CQ61-112SL from about 5 years now... the main battery is almost dead, doesn't keep more then 10 minutes. anyway my problem is that my motherboard battery didn't have any more energy left a few days ago and since then I can't access internet through lan cable but only via wifi. I need cable though. I saw that on my BIOS setup page there were a bunch of parameters missing like serial number, UUID, product number and stuff like that. Also when I start the notebook it prints something like : No serial found. or something like that. I don't really know if the reason why my lan cable doesn't work is the empty BIOS but i assume that's it. If it's not please enlighten me. Or anyway tell me how to update the serial number and product number to the real ones (instead of the 0000000000000 that is now in my bios). I downloaded HP DMI which should make it possible to set these variables on the BIOS but i'm on Windows 8 64bit and the executable file that I need to open for my laptop model says it can't run on 64 bit.

Access is denied." even though the target location is not on the C:\ drive. No other users have the problem and no other browsers do.
