Google App Engine: How to be notified when APIs change or become available?

I am thinking about writing a GAE app but am a little hesitant because the EULA gives Google full rights to change their APIs anytime they want, for any reason. Obviously, they'd be out of business quick if they just 'upped and refactored their entire APIs, so I have to imagine they have some kind of notification system, perhaps even an RSS feed, etc. to notify developers well in advance of looming changes, or new features coming out in future releases. However, for the life of me I can't seem to find any trace of the existence of such a notification system. Perhaps the Google forums is the only place to get such updates? I guess I'm asking any battle-worn GAE veterans for re-assurance that there are reliable ways of getting notifications about policy or API changes from Google such that I could react and make the necessary app changes without production breaking or impacting any clients. Google Site Search (commercial) not indexing files in sitemap

I have a client for whom we have purchased Google Site Search. It works well for HTML pages served by the CMS, but files aren't being reliably indexed. I wrote a script to generate an XML feed (sitemap) of all the files in the CMS which I've plugged in to Google Webmaster Tools for the site. It says that for that sitemap 923 URLs have been submitted, but only 26 have been indexed. The client relies heavily on searching within files, which is why we decided to use Google search, so this is a bit of a problem. Many of the files aren't linked to from any page on the site, as they are old and therefore don't merit having a page of their own. But they still need to be accessible through search for archiving purposes. The file archive xml can be found at www.sniffer.org.uk/file-archive and the standard xml sitemap (of pages) can be found at www.sniffer.org.uk/sitemap.xml. Any thought would be much appreciated!

Mobile traffic of my second site redirected to my base site [Edited,have a look]

I have a strange issue with my website and it seems i am unable to understand what cauese the problem.I would highly appreciate your help.The Scenario is I have two websites. Website A Website B Website A is simply hosted within the root directory of my hosting account.Within this root *directory* i have a sub folder " subfolder A " and within which is another subfolder " subfolder B " that contains my site Website B so the path looks like root/sublfolder_A/subfolder_B/ that contains my **Website B ( i.e subfolder_B) ** All goes fine.When i access the website B from my desktop/Laptop Website B is loaded normally. but when i access the Website through a mobile device , mobile site of Website A is loaded while as it should load website_B Also , to let you know , both websites have different URL's and not subdomain's or anything. What could be the problem ? htaccess of website B or website A ? or something else ? 3rd Annual South Florida SQL Saturday - August 13th!

The 3rd annual South Florida SQL Saturday event will be help August 13th, 2011 at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL. This is a change in venue from last year as DeVry is in the middle of a major remodling project. We has almost 450 last year, and we expect to have over 500 this year with great speakers such as Andy Warren, Herve Roggero, and more! As always, we our goal is to feed you well, so we are shooting for some hot lunch food this year. We are working on that now and will update you as soon as we firm it up. One of the things we will be trying this year is 90-100 minute sessions on a couple of tracks. We strongly feel that several topics are just getting warmed up in 45 minutes, so we are going to experiment with 90-100 minute sessions on some of the BI topics. We would love to see you there!

ASP.NET MVC Portable Areas - Can they communicate and be used as a plugin-like architecture?

I'll get straight to the point: I was wondering if there is a common pattern to use portable areas as a components of a plugin-like architecture. Example: We've got 3 plugins (portable areas) packaged and distributed via NuGet feed. Each of them is following the standard MVC structure (has it own Models, Views and Controllers). Lets say login form, header and footer. What I was wondering if there is a way to make them communicate. For example: when user logs on, login plugin executes it own logic, logs the user and then it updates the state of the header plugin with changes it state accordingly. Thanks in advance.

Fixing a broken toolbox (In Visual Studio 2010 SP1)

I was recently running into a situation where every time I opened Visual Studio 2010 SP1, the following message would appear for about 60 seconds or so: "Loading toolbox content from package Microsoft.VisualStudio.IDE.Toolbox.ControlInstaller.ToolboxInstallerPackage '{2C98B35-07DA-45F1-96A3-BE55D91C8D7A}'" After finally get fed up with the issue, I started researching it and decided that I’d share the steps that I took to resolve it below: I first made a complete backup of my registry. I then removed the following key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Packages\{2c298b35-07da-45f1-96a3-be55d91c8d7a}] I went to the following directory: C:\Users\Your Name Here\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\ and created a folder called bk and moved the .tbd files to that folder (they are hidden so you will have to show all files). I then removed the .tbd files in the root directory. I then launched Visual Studio 2010 SP1 again and it recreated those files and the problem was gone. bridge network using route

I have been googeling and searching on how to do bridge my wifi connections to my internet connection using route. I have a ubuntu server 12.04 with a wifi and normal network card I also have a router that is connected to the internet on my ubuntu server i have eth0 connected to the router; IP 192.168.1.12 GW 192.168.1.1 DNS 212.54.40.25 this all works great I have set up my wlan0 as my accespoint, and DHCP to feed an IP to any device that connects to it. if i connect, for example, my android smartphone to my wlan0 acces point it will get the following IP 10.10.0.2 GW 10.10.0.1 DNS 212.54.40.25 How in earth can I bridge this connection and acces the internet from my android? I dont want to make use of BR0 bridge-utils but accomplish this using route. Many thanks in advance

record and replay directinput events

I am trying to build a record and replay system for a couple of games. I was wondering if I can make a general replay engine using directinput rather than doing an specific implementation for each game. Recording DirectInput events doesn't seem to be that much of a problem, but I don't know if there is a way to play them back. My question is, is there a way to feed DirectInput events from a log and make DirectInput believe that they came from mouse/joystick/keyboard? I assume it is unlikely, but if there is a way I would be interested in learning about it.

GlassFish and JavaEE Roadmap Update

As announced at JavaOne, GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 4.1 is scheduled for 2014. ?Oracle is planning updates as needed to GlassFish Server Open Source Edition, which is commercially unsupported?. Oracle has announced the following updates to the GlassFish roadmap: The trunk will eventually transition to GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 5 as a Java EE 8 implementation. ?The Java EE 8 Reference Implementation will be derived from GlassFish Server Open Source Edition 5. This replicates what has been done in past Java EE and GlassFish Server releases. Oracle will no longer release future major releases of Oracle GlassFish Server with commercial support – specifically Oracle GlassFish Server 4.x with commercial Java EE 7 support will not be released.?Commercial Java EE 7 support will be provided from WebLogic Server. Oracle GlassFish Server will not be releasing a 4.x commercial version. Oracle is committed to the future of Java EE. Java EE 7 has been released and planning for Java EE 8 has begun. How to CURL and avoid timeout death (Twitter Down) [migrated]

Twitter is down right now, and one of my site's home pages relies on getting data from Twitter (relies is the problem - it should be more of an accessory feature, as it just shows follow count from its feed). Continuing our Social Developer theme, we're excited to announce a week long hackathon put on by the Oracle Social Developer Lab (OSDL). The event starts at JavaOne Oct 2nd and runs through Oct 9th. A winner will be announced and profiled in the following issue of Java Magazine. What's it about?The OSDL is on a mission to make social development easier for the Java community. You may have noticed the biggest social networks have created tools for Ruby, PHP, and other languages, but not as much for Java. We've decided to help fill the gap with a SocialLink social publishing library. You can learn more about it on Java.net. We're also interested in promoting other tools that facilitate social development such as DaliCore Framework. For our hack, you've got one week to leverage our library and/or DailCore to create a social app. The only rules are it must be a new application, and it must leverage one or both of these tools. How to submit Create a project that uses either the SocialLink library or the DaliCore Framework to read or publish social data. 1. Upload your hack to a new project on java.net 2. Submit the URL to your java.net project through the project submission form on the Oracle Social Developer Community Facebook page. What factors help in getting a site indexed by Google fast?

What should I do to get a site indexed on Google, fast? Taking example of Super User I just did a quick Google for a question that was 20 minutes old, to look for an answer, and it was already on Google Search - how is this possible? I glanced over this article which seems to suggest that SU has added RSS feeds (which SU has, but when I opened the feed the article says last posted 6 minutes ago, but when Googled it is 11 hours old) - which leads me to think (Based on that article, I don't know much about search indexing but I am reading at the moment) that most of this indexing is done thanks to the sitemap. is there anything else I am unaware of that helps SU questions get on Google so fast?

Test JPQL with NetBeans IDE 7.3 Tools

Since I pretty much messed up this part of the "Unlocking Java EE 6 Platform" demo, which I did together with PrimeFaces lead Çagatay Çivici during JavaOne 2012, I feel obliged to blog about it to clarify what should have happened! In my own defense, I only learned about this feature 15 minutes before the session started. In 7.3 Beta, it works for Java SE projects, while for Maven-based web projects, you need a post 7.3 Beta build, which is what I set up for my demo right before it started. Then I saw that the feature was there, without actually trying it out, which resulted in that part of the demo being a bit messy. And thanks to whoever it was in the audience who shouted out how to use it correctly! Screenshots below show everything related to this new feature, available from 7.3 onwards, which means you can try out your JPQL queries right within the IDE, without deploying the application (you only need to build it since the queries are run on the compiled classes): SQL view: Result view for the above: Here, you see the result of a more specific query, i.e., check that a record with a specific name value is present in the database: Also note that there is code completion within the editor part of the dialog above. I.e., as you press Ctrl-Space, you'll see context-sensitive suggestions for filling out the query. All this is pretty cool stuff! Saves time because now there's no need to deploy the app to check the database connection.
