  • Incorrect viewport on monitor everytime computer is booted

    Hi, Every time I turn on my PC the viewport isn't aligned correctly on the screen - there is always a black strip on the right hand side. This is not a big issue as it can be resolved by pressing the menu button on the screen and doing a factory reset. However it is irritating having to do it every time. I am using a flat screen monitor with vga connections. The weird thing it never used to happen before with the tower Im using. Is potentially out of date drivers a problem? Thanks.

    Hey, what are the usage scenarios for these kinds of virtual hosting ? Name Based - typical tomcat virtual hosting, one HOME instance with many contexts, each as an individual host IP based / port based - multiple instances of tomcat ( how is it with performance and memory consuption?) running on IP aliases (virtual IPs) for one network adapter, usually behind http apache server that can run name based virtual hostings. Otherwise I can't figure out how would I forward requests in iptables/firewall based on IP address, which is just one. How is IP based virtual hosting done as to Tomcat and multiple instances ? I'd like to hear some usage scenarios from your experience. How are you running your applications. Cause there are applications having it's own modified classloader and they are developed in a way to run alone withing a tomcat instance. Then there are trivial applications which can run within one instance without problems. Many thanks

  • How to find the /dev name of my USB device

    I am running Ubuntu 11 on VmWare on Windows XP. I want to format an SD card in Ubuntu. But, I can't figure out which /dev/xxx device the SD card is. I plug the card into the built-in socket of my laptop. I "safely remove" the device in Windows. Then, I "connect" the PCMCIA reader in VmWare. Now, I was supposing to see a new device like /dev/sdx. But, it doesn't appear :( How can I find what the name of my USB device's name and mount it? /var/log/message is empty.     I am thinking about creating an online shop at etsy, the one requirement I have is, I want user to see my domain name (www.myname.com), instead of myname.etsy.com. Given that I don't have access to the etsy server, is there thing I can do on my domain redirect( assuming I am using apache), so that whatever request on www.myname.com will be translated to the etsy side? This is so that whoever comes to my website won't see the word etsy in the url. Another particular thing is that I want my custom domain name to show in the web browser location bar when the redirect completes. Is there anyway to do this with apache?

  • How to check that image sizes are ok or not

    I am having many image files in one folder. Mostly there are jpg, but some png, bmp, gif, tif also (but jpg is most important if others are not possible). There are also many xml files in same folder with same names as image files are having. So there is something like this: 1.jpg, 1.xml, a.png, a.xml, 3g.bmp, 3g.xml... All xml files are having only 1 line: <IMGRES WIDTH="1234" HEIGHT="567" /> (of course numbers are not same). I am looking for some easy way to check all image sizes and confirm if they are same as in xml or not. So I want output like: imagename, xmlwidth x xmlheight, realwidth x realheight, match/error Is this possible in only Windows with no other software installed?

  • IE8 complains about SSL name mistmatch

    When visiting an SSL protected website, IE8 complains about the certificate name not matching the website address, but gives no information about the certificate or what name it's looking for. Visiting the same site in IE9 (or IE9 in "IE8 mode"), Firefox, Chrome, and Safari shows no problems, and that the certificate matches the address. Certificate checkers indicate everything is installed and configured correctly. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Is this a known issue or bug in IE8? I've been Googling for similar issues, but due to the uncertainty as to what's actually going on, I'm not sure what to search for. My problem reads similar to this question. However, my server is running Apache2.

My home dir is C:\Users\JG, and inside that dir I have the file C:\Users\JG\.ssh\config, with these contents: Host <redacted server ip here> HostName digitalocean_git User git IdentityFile ~/.ssh/digitalocean_moocho/id_rsa The id file pointed to by the "IdentityFile" entry works, as I use it just fine via putty, but for this problem I am trying to get command line OpenSSH working.     I have a exim4 setup as SMTP. My user naming schema is to name all mail users for this server as m001, m002, m003, ... and then redirect to a real e-mail address with virtual domains. How can I allow my users to authenticate with exim to send mail using either their system user name (m001) or the email address ([email protected])? User login information for m001 are stored in linux system files (passwd, shadow). They are linked thru entries in a virtual address table for each domain that this server can serve: # /etc/exim4/virtual/example.com m001: [email protected] m002: [email protected] m003: [email protected] The same can be applied to qpopper ?

    Hi! I just downloaded VMware player (I used to use Virtual Box, but I needed Windows Aero, and vbox doesn't support that yet) But it will automatically resize the guest when I resize the window, and I do not want that. I did not see an option to turn it off. Does anyone know? Thank you.

  • XAMPP localhost and 127.0.0.1 don't work but computer name does work

    I am running on a vista. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 do not work anymore but my computer name still works. Localhost and 127.0.0.1 only show a blank page however using my computer name can access xampp homepage as well as my server files. I am assuming there is something wrong with my hosts file but when i checked it looks fine: 127.0.0.1 localhost is the only thing in there that is not commented out, which seems right according to what I've seen on the web so far. I had a trojan recently that I got rid of so I believe that definitely has something to do with it. It was msa.exe among potentially others but I think I got rid of it with Malwarebytes. This is the only issue that is left. Thanks!

    Background I've been running a KVM switch with my monitor at 1920 x 1080 over VGA for over a year. Did a Windows Update on 12/11/12 which did the following: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2779562) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2779030) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2761465) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - December 2012 (KB890830) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2753842) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2758857) Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2770660) After a restart, my extended monitor was dark. I attempted to reset the extended display configuration, and noticed my monitor was being detected as a Generic Non-PnP Monitor: I uninstalled, downloaded new, and re-installed display drivers. Nothing. I attempted to unplug my monitor from the power for 15 minutes. Nothing. I followed some of the suggestions on this thread; specifically DanM's which suggested to create a new *.inf file and replace that in Device Manager. Device Manager said the "best driver software for your device is already installed". The only thing that works is when the monitor is directly attached to the laptop. This obviously is not what I want. My thought is to somehow remove the Generic Non-PnP Monitor from registry. How would I accomplish this and would this help? Any other suggestions?   • 27 days after domain transfer name servers not propogated

    We recently bought the domain: embarrassingnightclubphotos.com 7 days after accepting the transfer the domain finally transferred to our registrar and we immediately changed the name servers from ns*.netregistry.net to amy.ns.cloudflare.com and cody.ns.cloudflare.com 20 days after changing the name servers, the majority of tests show that both old and new nameservers are still being reported: http://intodns.com/embarrassingnightclubphotos.com http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/embarrassingnightclubphotos.com We are now ready to launch the new site but this issue is plagueing us as a high proportion of the traffic is still receiving the old nameserves and so hitting the old server. You can tell if you have hit the old or new server as the old server has the value "A" for the meta tag "Location" and the new server has "U". (The old server just has an iframe too!) I have never had this problem before - who is causing this and how should we go about reaching a resolution? Thanks

    I've recently setup a new backup server and have configured sendmail with a smart_relay_host Except every email from the command line doesn't go anywhere. I can do forward and reverse lookups. I can also telnet to the mail relay and send a message that way. I'm stumped, any suggestions?

  • Where does netstat get the process name?

    I am developing a node application and there is an option to set the process title (process name). This only sets it in some tools (like ps and top), but not in htop or netstat. I found this article that explained how most applications do it, but it doesn't change in netstat. That lead me to wonder where those programs are getting the process name. Would they be getting it from /proc/##/cmdline? (## being the PID of the process) I figure messing with things in /proc is a bad idea (and probably not possible), so if this is where those programs are getting it, is there a way to change it?

  • Resolving host names to their domain name in an internal BIND domain

    I'm setting up a domain on my home network for learning purposes, using BIND on CentOS to act as the name server. I've got the name server up and running as type master for my internal domain (plumbnicoll.family), and can do forward and reverse lookups from other computers in my LAN. For example, host office2.plumbnicoll.family correctly returns office2.plumbnicoll.family has address 192.168.1.3. What I'd like is to be able to resolve just office2 to its address, without needing to put .plumbnicoll.family at the end. Is this possible, or even desirable to do? I'm running a mixed environment at home with both Linux and Windows computers.

  • Host forwarding fails, server is up, domain name tests ambiguous

    I have a domain name registered with http://www.registryrocket.com/ The "main" site, which is called rudolfcode.net, is registered under godaddy, and forwards to a heroku site (rudolfcode.herokuapp.com). I have found that the main site, rudolfcode.net works, but the hostgator forwarding has stopped working (firefox simply fails when you point to http://www.rudolflabs.com, which is the domain name registered by hostgator). How can I debug this issue ? Finally, I have tried to run some DNS tests, and here are the results : Im not sure what the failures mean .... But Im pretty sure that "Conecting to WWW Home Page" failed is a pretty bad sign ! Thanks.

  • Doesn't DNS diversity negatively affect performance? Why/how?

    If you look at the press releases of various orgs that run the internet, you can see them praise the fact that now they run root server X in city Y, as if that magically makes everyone in city Y get all the relevant resolutions from the local server X, instead of going 200ms across the oceans and lands to other continents for resolutions. Similarly, the zones of some geographical domain names, like .ru, are being mirrored not just within Europe, but also, for example, in Hong Kong, which is no more, no less, but is about 300ms away from central Europe, since the traffic is often crossing the two oceans on each way. Doesn't all of this negatively affect DNS performance? Isn't it more of a liability to have a diverse pool of geodispersed authoritative servers, especially if your target audience is quite geographically concentrated? Perhaps a better question is, are there any DNS resolvers that use something better than the naive round-robin for choosing which authoritative server to contact?
