  • Excel 2003 VSTO convert to PDF

    I have an excel workbook vsto solution that needs to generate a pdf copy of one of its sheets as output. I have a license for abcdpdf .net and tried outputting to html, then using abcpdf to convert the html to pdf, but the excel html markup tries to emulate excel with all 4 worksheets with horrible markup. It also messes up the colors (silver background across entire workbook). Any suggestions? Here is the code I'm currently using to generate the html file: FileInfo excelDoc = new FileInfo(Globals.ThisWorkbook.Path + @"\Document.html"); Globals.Sheet2.SaveAs(excelDoc.FullName, Excel.XlFileFormat.xlHtml, missing, missing, false, false, Excel.XlSaveAsAccessMode.xlNoChange, missing, missing, missing); If I hack away some of the html header tags manually, I can get abcdpf to accept it, but the formatting is a bit off and this solution seems sub optimal.   • Reading line for Ubuntu users

    Normally when I read a book I use a bookmark held horizontally under the current line I'm reading to help me keep my eyes on the right spot. When I read a PDF or other document on my computer I would like to be able to do the same thing, only with a line on the screen controlled by the up and down arrow keys. Any suggestions for an application which would do this? I'm a Ubuntu Linux user.

    I'm looking for some cost-effective solutions and/or open source options for generating reports in Excel and PDF format. I realize some of the open source options may have less in terms of functionality and flexibility than the COTS versions with all the bells and whistles, but are there any options out there that fall somewhere in between? EDIT: Essentially what I'll have are just some basic HTML reports of data in tables with some calculations/summary data but nothing fancy like graphs, etc. I'll then need the ability to export these HTML reports to Excel and/or PDF.

    Hi, Right now i'm working on a project which involves in converting pdf docs to swf file. Using FlexPaper (http://flexpaper.devaldi.com/), I converted pdf to swf. I have used deeplinking concepts to link to a particular page from external html link, but if I want to link to a particular bookmark/named destination, I can not be able to do so.     Hi all I have tried many ways/software to save a web page (html, mht, doc, pdf). My favorite software was an addon for browsers from Omnipage (OCR). What i like about this is that it prints the whole page (continuously) and it doesn't write the http path and page number on the footer of every page, which i find very annoying. Does anyone know a software like this one (freeware or not) PS I tried CutePDF

    Hi, I use adobe Illustrator creative suite 3. Now there seems to be a problem. I can't save my Illustrations In the .pdf format, since this format seems to preserve the graphic quality this Is vitally Important to me. If I save the Graphic In .jpef /.gif or png there Is some serious loss of quality so I need to find out a way to get this sorted. when I try to save the graphic as pdf It says "An unknown error has occured" please can anyone help me out here?     Hello... I made a reporting engine with javascript for my project... The problem is with printing.. Although with page-break and css i can produce a good looking report, i want to export that report to a pdf in order to be printed better without ,the url,page title and other stuff that browsers add. Note in Chrome there isnt page setup!!! I am using java for server side. i think sending via ajax the Html of the report somehow and return a url for the pdf report maybe... i am looking for a good tool for this thank you

    What are the legalities of letting someone borrow a book that you have purchased that so happens to be in PDF format with no DRM? I know that I can lend a printed book to someone and this not infringe copyright, but a pdf? I know that the thought police are going to be on my case about "no one here is a legal expert" or the "question can't be answered" or "controversial", But I would like to have the opportunity to at least surface the issue, and allow people to comment. I am not looking for point scoring on this, or even an answer, but as stackoverflow has a rather large technical savvy audience that would appreciate the question I think that it could be the next hurdle that will stop technical progress.

    If I have an integer that I'd like to perform bit manipulation on, how can I load it into a java.util.BitSet? How can I convert it back to an int or long? I'm not so concerned about the size of the BitSet -- it will always be 32 or 64 bits long. I'd just like to use the set(), clear(), nextSetBit(), and nextClearBit() methods rather than bitwise operators, but I can't find an easy way to initialize a bit set with a numeric type.

  • Cleanest way to build an SQL string in Java

    I want to build an SQL string to do database manipulation (updates, deletes, inserts, selects, that sort of thing) - instead of the awful string concat method using millions of "+"'s and quotes which is unreadable at best - there must be a better way. I did think of using MessageFormat - but its supposed to be used for user messages, although I think it would do a reasonable job - but I guess there should be something more aligned to SQL type operations in the java sql libraries. Would Groovy be any good? Any help much appreciated.

    We currently have a number of desktop applications (PowerBuilder, Winforms, WPF) that make use of a single CHM for context sensitive help. We'd like to move away from CHM as it's difficult to maintain but we've not found a suitable alternative. Ideally we'd like our developers to keep the help files up to date (perhaps in a wiki) as they add funtionality and simply export this to PDF or something like that, but is it possible to use a PDF for context sensitve help, or are there any other promising alternative to CHM?

    is there a workaround to use the cfdocument tag to save a page/file as an excel sheet instead of a PDF file? I already have a process set up to make pdf files and email them out and would like to give my customers the option of getting an excel file instead. It would be nice if I could reuse the code I already have instead of having to rewrite it in POI or something like that.
