  • image filters for iphone sdk development

    Hi All, I am planning to develop an iphone app which makes use of image filters like blurring, sharpening,etc. I noticed that there are few approaches for this one, Use openGL ES. I even found an example code on apple iphone dev site. How easy is openGL for somebody who has never used it? Can the image filters be implemented using the openGL framework? There is a Quartz demo as well posted on apple iphone dev site. Has anybody used this framework for doing image processing? How is this approach compared to openGL framework? Don't use openGL and Quartz framework. Basically access the raw pixels from the image and do the manipulation myself. Make use of any custom built image processing libraries like this one. Do you know of any other libraries like this one? Can anybody provide insights/suggestions on which option is the best? Your opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks!

    We need to insert a web beacon (i know taboo) in to adobe PDFs to know when they are opened, as one of our clients is moving to a model of "giving" their documents away and following up repeat viewers for subscriptions. Its not enough to be able to provide a download, they want to attach the PDF to an email and "blast" to directed recipients (double-opt-in etc). Adding the javascript to the pdf is easy enough: (iText) and the "openAction" event. However the security box pops up and displays: "Security Warning" "Document is trying to connect to 'xxxx.yyy.com' if you trusty the site choose Allow. If do not trust the site choose Block" [help] [allow] [block] I don't think we need to completley overhaul the dialogue box, I just think we need to change the middle text to be more descriptive of why we are doing it.     Hello! I'm wondering how can I put a header into my pdf file, cause i've tried the tutorials from here: http://itextsharp.sourceforge.net/tutorial/ch04.html And it have not worked. Ive done this: Dim head As New HeaderFooter(New Phrase("This is page: "), False) head.Border = Rectangle.NO_BORDER document.Header = head But VS2008 says that HeaderFooter it's not defined (line 1), and Footer it's not a member of "iTextSharp.text.document" (line 3). I've already included the imports at the begining of my code and i don't have any other problems with the iTextsharps (i mean that it is working apart of the header problem): Imports iTextSharp.text Imports iTextSharp.text.pdf Imports System.Data.SQLite Imports System.IO So please, can anyone explain to me how can i set a header for my pages?   • Wider than expected margins with CGContextDrawPDFPage

    I'm rendering PDF pages on iPhone using the code below. It works, but the margins seem much wider than when I view the same PDF using a Acrobat Reader or the Mac's Preview, and that consequently scales the content down much smaller than it otherwise would be. Is my code actually causing this behavior?     I am trying to do some dynamic visual effects using the HTML 5 canvas' pixel manipulation, but I am running into a problem where setting pixels in the CanvasPixelArray is ridiculously slow. For example if I have code like: imageData = ctx.getImageData(0, 0, 500, 500); for (var i = 0; i < imageData.length; i += 4){ imageData.data[i] = buffer[i]; imageData.data[i + 1] = buffer[i + 1]; imageData.data[i + 2] = buffer[i + 2]; } ctx.putImageData(imageData, 0, 0); Profiling with Chrome reveals, it runs 44% slower than the following code where CanvasPixelArray is not used. tempArray = new Array(500 * 500 * 4); imageData = ctx.getImageData(0, 0, 500, 500); for (var i = 0; i < imageData.length; i += 4){ tempArray[i] = buffer[i]; tempArray[i + 1] = buffer[i + 1]; tempArray[i + 2] = buffer[i + 2]; } ctx.putImageData(imageData, 0, 0); My guess is that the reason for this slowdown is due to the conversion between the Javascript doubles and the internal unsigned 8bit integers, used by the CanvasPixelArray. Is this guess correct? Is there anyway to reduce the time spent setting values in the CanvasPixelArray?

    hi all, i am using zend_pdf to create pdf files for Ritgh to left language as arabic or east asia langauges i use of this code $pdfDoc = new Zend_Pdf(); $pdfPage = $pdfDoc->newPage(Zend_Pdf_Page::SIZE_A4); $font = Zend_Pdf_Font::fontWithPath(APPLICATION_PATH.'/Fonts/arial.ttf'); $pdfPage->setFont($font, 36); $pdfDoc->pages[] = $pdfPage; $unicodeString = '????'; $pdfPage->drawText($unicodeString, 72, 720, 'UTF-8'); $pdfDoc->save('utf8.pdf'); but there are two problem 1- how can i change document's direction to right to left ? 2- characters are separated one by one. but in some laguages characters of a word are joint together. any idea? or i may use tcpdf? thanks

  • Extracting information from PDFs of research papers

    I need a mechanism for extracting bibliographic metadata from PDF documents, to save people entering it by hand or cut-and-pasting it. At the very least, the title and abstract. The list of authors and their affiliations would be good. Extracting out the references would be amazing. Ideally this would be an open source solution. The problem is that not all PDF's encode the text, and many which do fail to preserve the logical order of the text, so just doing pdf2text gives you line 1 of column 1, line 1 of column 2, line 2 of column 1 etc. I know there's a lot of libraries. It's identifying the abstract, title authors etc. on the document that I need to solve. This is never going to be possible every time, but 80% would save a lot of human effort.

  • Google Docs viewer in IE

    Hey all, I've searched high and low for a solution, but can't find one. I'm using Google Docs Viewer to view PDF files. It's a great tool, but I can't seem to get it working in Internet Explorer (7 or 8). All my images come up as a 'missing' icon. If I view the file externally, it seems to load fine and it will start working (I'm assuming because the images are being cached). The document is being displayed in an iframe and works in all other browsers. Has anyone come across a solution to get it to work in IE? If not, is there an alternative that can display PPT and PDF files? Thanks

  • Solving iPhone/iPad out of memory issues

    I have a strange issue where I'm scrolling through a paged UIScrollView which displays the pages of a PDF document (using Quartz 2D and CATiledLayer). When I page through memory allocation looks fine with it going up with a few initial pages and then keeping it steady as it obviously releases the memory kept for earlier pages. Upon hitting page x (not a certain PDF page or a certain number per se) memory usage goes from a couple of megs to 308 megs and the app crashes. So my question is: how to best try to find what's causing this? The object alloc tool in instruments shows the memory as simply going to malloc. (in huge chunks).

  • Find three numbers appeared only once

    In a sequence of length n, where n=2k+3, that is there are k unique numbers appeared twice and three numbers appeared only once. The question is: how to find the three unique numbers that appeared only once? for example, in sequence 1 1 2 6 3 6 5 7 7 the three unique numbers are 2 3 5. Note: 3<=n<1e6 and the number will range from 1 to 2e9 Memory limits: 1000KB , this implies that we can't store the whole sequence. Method I have tried(Memory limit exceed): I initialize a tree, and when read in one number I try to remove it from the tree, if the remove returns false(not found), I add it to the tree. Finally, the tree has the three numbers. It works, but is Memory limit exceed. I know how to find one or two such number(s) using bit manipulation. So I wonder if we can find three using the same method(or some method similar)? Method to find one/two number(s) appeared only once: If there is one number appeared only once, we can apply XOR to the sequence to find it. If there are two, we can first apply XOR to the sequence, then separate the sequence into 2 parts by one bit of the result that is 1, and again apply XOR to the 2 parts, and we will find the answer.

    I created a flash projector that would be burn in a CD now my problem is that it doesn't open anything when I click on a link to view a pdf. I have search entire web about creating an apple script, fscommand etc... I am a newbie to flash and more specifically to this burn CD cross platform thing. My PDF are in the same root file as the projectors. i was wondering if you can help me out to what fscommand for both PC & Macto be written in flash and an apple script? Thank you
