• High CPU - What to do.

  I have a high CPU problem with MYSQL using "top" ( linux ) shows cpu peaks of 90%. I was trying to find the source of the problem, turned on general log and slow query log, The slow query log did not find anything. The Db contains a few small tables and one large table that contains almost 100k rows, Database Engine is MyIsam. strange thing i have noticed that on the large table, select, insert are very fast but update takes 0.2 - 0.5 secs. already used optimize and repair and no improvement. the table is being updated frequently, could this be the source of the high CPU% ? What can i do to improve this?

• Performance optimization for mssql: decrease stored procedures execution time or unload the server?

  Hello everybody! We have a web service which provides search over hotels. There is a problem with performance: a single request to the service takes around 5000 ms. Almost all of the time is spent in database by executing storing procedures. During the request our server (mssql2008) consumes ~90% of the processor time. When 2 requests are made in parallel the average time grows and is around 7000 ms. When number of request is increasing, the average time of response is increasing as well. We have 20-30 requests per minute. Which kind of optimization is the best in this case having in mind that the goal is to provide stable response time for the service: 1) Try to decrease the stored procedures execution time 2) Try to find the way how to unload the server It is interesting to hear from people who deal with booking sites. • Rotating images with PHP reduces quality especially over about 10-20 actions

  I am using this code below to rotate my jpeg images, the problem is that after around 10-20 times of rotating the image the image is dramatically lower quality, especially blue skies and such, my question is how can I keep these images the same high quality image? There must be a way. I mean, i keep the original image on the server for each image uploaded, and I don't do anything to that, so if need be it, I guess I could always come up with some way of using that over whenever possible.. • URL Rewriting from a subdomain to main domain!

  Hello. I am developing a pretty large website for a client, and its about 90% complete. It is currently hosted on a subdomain like so: now: v2.websitehere.com when complete: www.websitehere.com My problem is that SO much of this site is linked to the temporary subdomain. The newsletter service, multiple google apis, etc. I also have multiple blogs installed that would be hard to move over. Literally, I have over 20 blogs hosted on the subdomain. I also have other PHP scripts that utilize SQL databases. So, what I am getting at is that a migration would be very difficult: time consuming, frustrating, and not something I want to do. I am looking for a a good solution...similar to Wordpress's URL rewriting. Is there something I can do with .htaccess file? Any ideas would be MUCH appreciated.

• Android camera being landscaped in some devices

  Im new to Android and I tried a tutorial for camera API. The tutorial works fine. When I use HTC desire I can see the camera view in both portrait and landscape, but when I use Samsung Galaxy I get a the camera view only in a landscaped view. I tried the following code to rotate the camera view as well.. Camera.Parameters parameters = camera.getParameters(); parameters.setRotation(90); then the camera doesn't work as expected. (screen splits into 4 and not clear). Does anyone have an idea for this issue ? Thanks.

  Hi, I'm getting the screenshots from the following code:- CGImageRef cgScreen = UIGetScreenImage(); if (cgScreen) { UIImage *result = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:cgScreen]; CGImageRelease(cgScreen); return result; } I'm calling the above code in a timer of 1/1.0 seconds as:- [array addObject:[UIImage imageWithScreenContents]]; where imagewithScreenContents is a function. But after some seconds i.e after adding 90 frames application crashes. I'm unable to understand the problem. Can somebody help me in solving the problem. Thanks in Adv.

  I have a this table, where I store multiple ids and an age range (def1,def2) CREATE TABLE "template_requirements" ("_id" INTEGER NOT NULL, "templateid" INTEGER, "def1" VARCHAR(255), "def2" VARCHAR(255), PRIMARY KEY("_id")) Having values such as: templateid | def1 | def2 100 | 7 | 25 200 | 40 | 90 300 | 7 | 25 300 | 40 | 60 as you see for templateid 300 we have an or logic: age between 7 and 25 or age between 40 and 60. I want to get all the template ids that are not for a certain age like 25... What's the problem? If I run a query like this one: SELECT group_concat(templateid) FROM template_requirements where and '25' not between cast(def1 as integer) and cast(def2 as integer) it returns 200, 300, which is wrong, as the 300 matched on row 40 to 60, but shouldn't be included in the result as we have a condition with same templateid 7 to 25 that fails the not beetween stuff. How would be the correct query in SQLite, I would like to keep the group_concat stuff.

• WPF: Menu items and combo boxes don't render in Windows 7 64-bit

  I'm trying to use an existing internal WPF application (I do have access to the source), but it was developed on XP and I'm using Windows7 64-bit. When I click (for instance) the File menu, 90% of the time I see no drop-down menu at all. The menu still exists - I can use the arrow keys to navigate up and down and choose an option if I happen to know the order of the options, but nothing renders at all. The other 10% of the time, the menu or some portion of it DOES render, but as I move the cursor up and down I get graphical corruption or disappearing options until I end up back at the "no menu is visible at all" state. This is also true of combo boxes within the application - they show no data when I drop them down, but I can arrow down and choose an entry. Microsoft has some advice about WPF rendering issues here but none of these steps has helped with my issue.

• Rotating Viewbox contents smoothly

  I'm looking to teach myself better methods of doing things in WPF that I would normally do manually. In this case, I have a ViewBox with an image in it. I also have a button that uses a DoubleAnimation to rotate the image 90 to the right. This animation works fine, but obviously because it's square as it turns, the image does a "best fit" to the ViewBox which makes the rotation look quite bad, as it gets larger and smaller as its longest edge shrinks or grows to fit to that particular rotation angle. I am looking for any advice on the best way to handle this using appropriate WPF methods. Obviously I could do all the calculations manually, but I would be more interested in finding a way to use the controls and methods built into the .NET architecture. Thanks for your help.

I know how to do random numbers. nextvalue = random ( ) % 10001; but am unsure on how exactly to create a random character. I know that you can use ASCII to create a random character using the range 65 - 90 in the ASCII table. Can anyone help me come up with a solution? I would greatly appreciate it.

• Why is iPhone 5 briefly Letterboxing and displaying Default.png in Cocos2d?

  I have [email protected] which loads fine. However, (on the actual device) after it shows the iPhone 5 then displays Default.png, in letter box mode. It then loads the 1136 × 640 px Title Screen - which is fine and what it's supposed to do. I'm using the default Cocos2d HelloWorld template. I haven't changed anything in the plist or otherwise. Any ideas? Why does it load the Default.png and how do you fix this? Thanks. In the IntroLayer we have -(void) onEnter if( UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPhone ) { background = [CCSprite spriteWithFile:@"Default.png"]; background.rotation = 90; } Which is why Default.png is showing up. • Apache redirect when users home directory is completely empty.

  I work for an ISP and I have a server with thousands of users 10MB of free storage. They get this free storage with every e-mail account they have with us. An example of a users storage address: http://users.example.com/~username/ One problem I can see is scanning the server for user names to see what accounts are available, basically getting a list of all our customers valid e-mail addresses. This would be very, very bad. So I'm wanting to redirect to our homepage if someone comes across a users account that is empty (I'd say 90% of them are completely empty). I also do not want to simply -Indexes them and use a custom 403 because the few customers that do use them, want +Indexes. I know I can always just tell the customers to put a htaccess file in their directory with Options +indexes if they want directory listing, but that's a last resort. How can I make it pretty much impossible to tell what accounts are on the server but not in use at all?

The index.html page appears, but links and CSS files don't point to the right place. To clarify, the links and CSS files are all pointing to a 'file:///' URL. • centering image vertically in all resolutions

  I need to be able to center the image vertically for all the common resolutions. A lot of ppl here on SO have already asked this question before, and 90% of then give this tutorial http://www.jakpsatweb.cz/css/css-vertical-center-solution.html as an answer. However, when viewed at my 1280 by 1024 res monitor in FF, it's not centered. And worse yet, it breaks horribly in IE7. So, it's definitely NOT the answer. Am I chasing the impossible dream? The solution has to work for FF and IE 6/7 the solution can be anything that would work, though being a bit of a purist, I would prefer a div over table:)

• Can I have an android activity run only on the first time an application is opened?

  OK, so I'm playing around with an android app. The 90% use case is that users want to go straight to the primary list screen to find what they're looking for. That's what I want as my default screen. The first time a user loads the app however, some configuration is required before their list screen is of any value to them. So my question, is how I can go about displaying the configuration activity the first time the app is opened up, and then the list screen for future openings. I also want to put a demo button on the configuration screen, so I suppose more than just detecting that it's the first time, I specifically want to detect whether the user has performed certain configurations within the first screen.

I am doing it through simple loops.My approach is I am going to divide a list into two parts and then find the largest number into two parts and then compare two nuumbers. I will choose the smaller number from two of them. I can not use ready functions or different approaches. • ArrayIndexOutOfBound exception even though I check for array length!

  I have the following code in some app: int lowRange=50; int[] ageRangeIndividual = {6, 10, 18, 25, 45, 65, 90}; int index=0; for (; index<ageRangeIndividual.length-1 && ageRangeIndividual[index]<=lowRange;index++); I am getting an "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 7" in the for line! even though I explicitly specify to break the cycle if index < last indexable item in the array! This does not happen always, but after some time of running said program (lowRange varies each time the function is called) What am I not seeing?
