    Suppose a service written with RoR starts to use AWS S3 to store some data. What is the best library to use for working with AWS S3? Currently the main two alternatives for me are: RightScale AWS Ruby gems http://github.com/rightscale/right_aws AWS::s3 http://amazon.rubyforge.org/ What are their main advantages and disadvantages?   • Are there any solutions for translating measurement units on Rails?

    I'd like to implement measurement unit preferences in a Ruby on Rails app. For instance, the user should be able to select between displaying distances in miles or in kilometers. And, obviously, not only displaying, but entering values, too. I suppose all values should be stored in one global measurement system to simplify calculations. Are there any drop-in solutions for this? Or should I maybe write my own?

  • Anyone using RailRoad diagrams generator?

    I recently installed RailRoad gem to generate an .svg diagram of my app's models and controllers. The rake task keeps breaking with a similar error: 1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-1.4.4/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:263:in `load_missing_constant': uninitialized constant I tried the rake task on 2 seperate apps and the error keeps appearing with a different "constant" name. Anyone using it with similar problems?

    I am trying to parse Youtube Gdata to see if video with given id exists. But there isn't normal tag but with namespace. On the link http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/videos?q=KgfdlZuVz7I there is tag: <openSearch:totalResults>1</openSearch:totalResults> There is namespace openSearch: xmlns:openSearch='http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearchrss/1.0/' but I dont know how to deal with it in Nokogiri and Ruby.
